From TOTAL MADNESS to Blissful Serenity in Cities Skylines!

it's traffic oh it's so bad it comes from light out the city Oh My giddy and the worst thing of all if we take a look at the city here spaghetti oh my goodness me haven't any meatballs yet spaghetti everywhere welcome to the city sent in by Dutch van der Linde it has traffic for days if you're excited to see me fix this up don't forget to hit the like button that really really helps my channel follow that's following in to the toll booths that is really slowing people down I'm not even gonna check the underground roads yet it's going along here it's going along here and it sort of breaks up a bit as it gets down here but there's still yeah and it comes down here hits this why okay look that is right smack bang in the middle of the city that is a terrible terrible place for that and you've got this lovely road up here you could have this up here and that would solve so much traffic on its own and then you've got what's all this going on over here yeah these cars are going over here over here joining over here and it's just all a bit all over the place isn't it what tell you what let's start off I'm not going to the spaghetti there's spaghetti underneath look at it you've done you've done the thing haven't you where you've had your loads coming in like this you built off of it and then traffic's just got worse and worse so then you thought well I'll add a road here I'll add a road there then we'll have a road cut let's just take this one here where does it come from it goes along here it goes up there it goes way over to here she tried to give people like a little bypass ah looks so much better like that right I'd tell you what let us first of all move this thing here pause the game that is you want some room for some traffic to tail back to not hit that like that and also I'm extremely excited because if you saw my tweet go out probably earlier today but I've got this episode done I've just managed to order myself some tickets to go and see the Pet Shop Boys next year which I'm really excited about love the Pet Shop Boys love love love the picture was right okay we're gonna put that well plot that there like that and then we can just connect this I got the Pet Shop Boys new single in my mind as well which I can't stop singing so that should be fine it should be enough room for trains away nothing room no one's gonna get in each other's way so that's now gonna be up there I'm half tempted to make this one way yeah two lane one way no the other way please can I just do that I drag it and it still does the thing the wrong way there we go like that let's see whether that helps and then we want to get them some way to get over here without going through all of this let me just use my brain a minute okay yeah this is gonna change cuz you've got your highway coming in along here and it just stops at that roundabout I'm gonna continue the highway through here and we'll have some sort of junction over here let me do that okay so the highway now goes through here we've got this little Junction it carries on down here to this bigger Junction which I've hooked up to this area it hooks up to this area here and it hooks up to that area there I've done no traffic management or anything like that I've obviously got a couple of these roads connected the wrong way around oh yes I have yeah okay well let me just fix that that one's meant to go out that goes in that one's supposed to go out yep there we go excellent so that should work let's actually get this roundabout set up you didn't the traffic manager mods so you select this one here at party signs hold shift Bing it does all the give way signs for you and then Junction restrictions let's have a look so you can go through you've got to wait that one's fine you can go through you've got to wait that one's fine there we go so as the traffic dies down it should get better and let's do a bit of lane mathematics here three lanes coming down one goes off so it goes down to two three lanes coming down one goes off so the reason I do this and you can do this in vanilla see you've got these three lanes here so straight on straight on straight on and left and what will happen is loads of cars will use this lay in and block each other up even though there's two lanes free here for going straight on so what you can do is you could downgrade that to two lanes now you've got straight on and a dedicated right-hand Lane so do that vanilla don't need any mods for that there we go and then a little modded thing when they're coming back on we're gonna say you're going that Lane and you to take that Lane there and that would just mean they smooth moving and then they merged somewhere else and we just do that on the other side as well you don't really need to do this if the traffic's not too bad like that I mean it slows it down a little bit when cars come on but we know we are trying to get rid of a lot of traffic and already look look all of this tail back that was going on all the way along here so the minute it's still off the map that is what we're gonna be looking at is it ever gonna clear up and get all the way down to here what are we at traffic wise 27% it was it 10% so that's good let's do another vanilla fix for those with the vanilla game three lanes one goes off down to two same this way three lane one goes off down to two so these are the junctions that come with the game there's also another lane that goes off there I'm gonna ignore that because it possibly might be getting rid of those these are the vanilla junctions that come oh it's got a little zero FPS apparently that's interesting it so it must have updated I wonder whether that's telling you how much FPS traffic manager is using because obviously I'm not a zero fps mmm I wonder anyway yeah these aren't these are the vanilla junctions this T Junction highway Junction are working on now but just these couple of little tweaks make it work so much better now this you've got coming out of here ID you know what I'm not even gonna touch that at the moment I'm just gonna leave that this we've got a lot of hockey ball kunis okay let's look at this you've got all of these lanes coming down here let's work backwards so you got one lane one lane so this only needs to be two lane so this is this this Lane mathematics anybody can do it you can do in the vanilla game you don't need anything special look at all the lanes one for straight arm one for straight on and right wonderful right the cars just get confused get stuck behind each other bash well under straight on one for life done so we know that only needs to be two lanes so this is gonna be the same here two lanes and then as it's cars coming in we're gonna give them a little bit of assistance and say just take that Lane each so instead of cutting across it's just go across the grass now they smoothly move in and again what we don't want is them going up and around here although some seem to be using it so I'll tell you what we're gonna do we're gonna delete this and there's obviously an underground road there as well we're just gonna put in a little roundabout which is the small one this one here Oh easy there we go we're gonna add that in we're gonna place the roundabout so that just means we get this little road any road will do and go from node to node across so any roads we now add on to this they're not gonna suddenly change the shape because if you don't go if you don't add a load to the nodes from the nodes like there I did it from here without bracing the roundabout that would have got a Winky wonky now it's gonna be fine so we are going to go from here to there and from there to over here somewhere okay stop snip you snap in I want no snapping off there we go so that's gonna go to there and stared so they actually winning you out which is fine she's only two lane that'll do that'll do and then this one coming out if he doesn't need to be this big I would go for two-lane either way perfectly fine so let's up great that's my shoes this one come on connect that up to the node snap in there we go there we go so they can come up there use the roundabout take where they want and now you've got these two roads here you could if you wanted to even add this to go over here so let's upgrade that and we just give them another option now how to get in over there and then you've got this road here which isn't going anywhere but we'll leave it there for future use say ah we've got this road under here didn't we that wasn't there an underground road oh I deleted a little underground roads here was it not connecting to anything was it this what is this you've got them coming off going under and join him back to go the other way what alright I don't know what this little underground maybe it was connected from there where does this one go which way these cars going they're coming down here and going on oh goodness I don't know if I even want to touch all of that it's not about what I'm gonna I'm actually gonna add to the underground spaghetti that we've got here I'm gonna take a little road off of there and I'm gonna do this come here I'm gonna go up to there there we go they can now come on and join this highway if they wish and what we'll do is we're just there we go change that load so it's the same one cool and then we'll just quickly do the ping so we've got that will do the bing-bong bing-bong you can be on not you you're fine now you carry on and you're fine you come here and you're fine and not you excellent so they should keep moving that should be good I mean you could put a little bypass over the top there's not a lot of traffic coming down here look look cleared up cleared up all of this cleared up and moving look at that traffic up there excellent what are we ants can you show us what are we at 33% so that's nice now little sip of tea one second Oh excellent thank you very much so every like that you leave on the video forgot to say means I can have another sip of tea and I stack them all up and then at the end of the day I count them all out and have lots of sips of tea this bit here what's going on if you're not set this roundabout up we did but it's just causing issues here so what I'm gonna do I just put that road into there do you know what it'd be better if it went into here there's an underground load that is no longer connected but it's just car gonna despawn where's it gonna go this one underground here look I always taken that route yeah I just try not to rebuild everybody's roads like totally but sometimes so gonna have that one go in I'm gonna have that one go that way so that way to come in that way to go in just keep it moving keep it moving keep it going and what we'll do is well we'll just make this a main road along here so you've got to give white now you can just move because of the thing that we've done but you keep going you stop yeah come back as the traffic dies down hopefully this my goodness yeah it's one of those situations where we need to wait for the traffic to die down we've caused more problems and we've solved yeah right okay let's take this section over here moving on swiftly moving on swiftly so we haven't done any of the all we've got underground roads that aren't now connected yeah look at it it's just horrendous let's just get rid of that don't need that okay so let's do some bitter fiying of this thing here I'm gonna do a little quick montage speed this bit out cuz you know how it works [Music] also this little bit we've got at the ends here it's all getting blocked out cuz these cars are all trying to go to the wrong place we don't want them looping round here if they're coming down here we want them just a carry on down that road so we're gonna force these guys there we go to do that and we just want them to keep on going so we're gonna swirl that car we're just gonna say keep on going through keep on moving and probably need to do that at this site here look see we don't want them doing that we're gonna do that at this side as well [Music] there we go looking already that's clearing up look fantastic that is good this is all clear enough we'll come back to that bit over there lights that is all going well this is causing some issues down here and I put the lane thingy in there yes I did so these guys are coming down here and then we're hitting all of this oh my goodness we're hitting all of this what is going on here this is the place where it's a problem okay so we're gonna say you've got to give why you can go through and we're gonna say keep going through keep going through Oh also save Zippity yeah I've turned on the autosave again an accident you turned it off a montage and forgot oh because it makes the game micro stutter so a name we're gonna say go through go through give away to anybody coming on yeah you've done that they're also gonna say go through again this is one of those situations where the traffic is so heavy until it goes down see look this is all like empty all the way up here in fact have you made this a main road all the way through you haven't then you roundabouts that could mess it out you know that is gonna be I was gonna do it all the way up to that height of a half and so on I'm gonna delete a bit of load out of here then I'm gonna do the hold shift there we go make that so now all the roads coming on at all give way and then I'll just connect this back up again see it and I don't even know the mode disappeared it was back again so that should hopefully just keep these guys going and one more thing with the lane so we've got one lane for off two lane for on want to check these lanes down here for every turning off we've got yeah do some do some lane mathematics lane management's not Lane mathematics wonderful left one for straight on one for lights wonderful left one for straight on one for light that one's fine and again he just keeps things going they will pick their lane you did it to do one for right straight on one for left yeah that wonderful left one further I mean I don't really need to do it this far down the roads there we go because there's no traffic but if you you're proving sometimes people say are you doing stuff you don't need to do there's no traffic oh yeah but I'm you know a future-proof in your city see that middle one doesn't need to be used for both so what I might just do is just make it a left there we go to left Oh actually there's a cargo thing there I'll make two lines in states there we go excellent we'll come back to that hopefully it'll keep moving then I'll all sort themselves out on those stop lanes switching and doing all sorts of weird things anyway right let's go have a look up here so this is going well look these guys are going round they're not locking all this up which is good so all of these guys are probably going to use that I always got no water darn it I think that hasn't it doesn't seem to have stopped it from working it's probably got no electricity I said I've got the electric road mod on but let me just give these guys some electricity in case you don't use that mod there we go there's working anyway ah this is all cleared up this is quite busy over here as your lanes looking yeah you've got that thing again one lanes are straight on could we make that yeah do some Lane maths I'll tell you what I'm gonna do is I always do this 44 percent I always end up for having to let the city just run for a while just to see how things are going give it time to give it time to breathe and work its way down ah look right before I say that when you do these underground tunnels you don't need to do three Lane flipping highways one lane if you're gonna do them at all I'd say don't do them if you're gonna do them at all one lane is perfectly fine just make sure I'm upgrading the correct road here on this one yeah there we go and it just means that when it gets to its destination I can't even get to that later where is it gone this one here just joined up with that one there nope that was the above-ground Road I don't even know where that one's gone it's disappeared under here it's this one um it's that one there yeah do a there we go got it make it one lane and that is all you need to do and that is enough for the cars to get backwards and forwards I can't your bothers do the whole thing on the ground I want to change that one back there we go and it just means that you've only got one lane going off rather than three just confusing all the cars and all that stuff because you want to keep things moving don't we good right okay I'm gonna let the city run for a bit let's see the traffic not quite gone down yet here just wondering whether also like another Junction coming through to here so they're not having to come all the way along where would they come off probably one of these millions of tunnels but another proper Junction here would help I reckon yeah so I'll be back with you in a bit just before we do that I forgot we haven't checked your buses you've got loads of buses no vehicles so I'm some exception to your bus depo I'll get that sorted out no trams at one Metro which go I mean you can't even see where it goes because of all the egos up here it goes into there it goes up man here okay I mean it covers most things I will probably put a second loop on that for you just so we know we're covering a lot at the city one train not being used and that's it okay I thought your buses sort your metro and then we'll be back and see how everything is going [Music] oh just put a second metro line in the top one is Oh already this is my line following exactly the same that you've got bridges the other way around and passengers are going up you don't have many stops along here you've only got like one four stop oh yeah let's isn't it four stops so one two three and four something I'm gonna add some more stops in but look city's growing money's going up and traffic is 68% which is absolutely fantastic okay so I've changed your Metro a little bit more as we go round I'm added more stops in we've got seven on each now and I've added another little metro line that comes from this area it just goes through passes nearby to this one I just had a little road in the middle of nowhere so people can cross over if they want and you can see them walking from one to the other and a comment the other day saying people don't walk from one metro do that I'm unhappy yes they do look you can see it with your own eyeballs and even part their space cars what is that spectral boater type space car thing look at that they will walk from one side to the other which is fantastic and then that continues down into this area the city I mean metro stops near big things like the mall of moderation you've got some schools dotted around tourist things you know you want yeah you want your people be able to get to those things nice and easily which is good I don't got any metric down here let's have a quick look yeah we've got a metro stop down here now it's all good yeah yeah look at the traffic he's not going out in the map anymore which is fantastic oh I noticed this before always connect these are if you have one of these open like that because then people can use it there we go forgetting about in the city excellent so the people using your metro now has gone up a bomb that this small one is the little extra line but look getting up to a thousand people each traffic is at 71% with spaghetti still in your city [Music] [Music] [Music] okay so without totally rebuilding every single thing from scratch we have got it up to 70% which isn't too bad 71 cents creeping up evidence growing and making money the city's growing you've got needs again for industry yeah I think for this one that is enough to be every side-loaded gonna turn up they're gonna cut some trees to
