$1,000 HiLux takes on CAPE YORK! • Old Tele Track

yes my life just remarking to myself cuz i sat there having my bacon and egg roll how quiet it is up there while you get up here to stop me one of the first reason every I'm not a big wet but still me tell the folks at home where we are or in cave your guys and I am super excited I tell you why I'm really so I don't been here a couple of times before this will be the first time I take on the old telly track one of the most famous tracks in Australia yep the other reason I'm really excited why not because of this car yeah it's nothing to do here really worried what are you driving what you don't like my time driving 1982 ox very well yeah all right you're done so what are you saying here that you've just picked up a thousand dollar Hilux you gonna do the tele track bought the show people that you can do it with that much that's the idea you're on a cruise your swag in the back and that's it gonna go do the teletrac yeah can we find my I'm good Subic so I've been looking forward to this since the day I got in the fall were driving here it is right now I'll totally track every other door so I can lock the hubs in your favorite chair get ready to join Cydonia hello Avenger turn that thing stopped the telly track has got to be the most famous tracking cake your low being from bramwell Junction we're gonna head through a number of creek crossings and make our first night's camp at gunshot Creek and then we'll head up to Canal Creek but not without a stop at fruit bat Falls and lastly we'll make our way through the top half of the telly to finish up at the tip of Australia of course we're airing down and before long we're making it turn into the start of the telly let's get this show on the road now a lot of people mentioned the old telly track has been very easy and saying that there's a lot of side tracks to avoid the bigger challenges you come across we're here for the fun stuff this is rocky Craig their first of many since we all telly ready to order in here as well [Music] o-tama gal that one I tell your boys that was a lot bigger than I thought I've got wet feet wet everything set um that's Wow hey you ready there with that recovery gear Shawn fellas you're gonna have fun in that one good stop one good when do we notice that face a bit of a drop off to go in here nothing like palm it's a bigger drop up on harm Graham's back in shorty again that fee is running better than ever this videos with the sort of money that's it make good Drive buddy but always looked as good as a 30 but here she's pretty deep in there no stranger to Cape York is our make Justin from an keys crash and forward right spares along these 4.2 Guu he's been the man behind the scenes organizing a thousand bucks locks and getting it all ready please trick following not far behind is Dion from scamper campus is in the single cab 79 series towing arranger excel camper trailer he's here to put some solid iron D to the test and what a place to do it and last but definitely not least from wholesale automatics is Stu dog and his brand spanking new GU youth this is the very first GU you in Australia with an automatic transmission I've got no doubt it will go through with these you look at that textbook drive mate the next challenge is probably one of the harder creeks to cross in the Cape and that's palm Creek this is Palm Creek the infamous Park Road one of the hardest challenges on the old telly track and I'm super super excited I said a million pictures this the first time I've ever got to try it super excited doesn't even do it justice I can't wait clothing I've been wanting to drive for just about ever here it is whose real challenge of the old telegraph track oh it's very steep down there very steep very rutted early in the season you see there we go look at that look at this the exit to Pond Creek is really steep that's rotted and quite sleepy because of the clay so the thirties got the coarse twin lockers it's got thirty five inch tires and a couple of inches of left I'm literally going to let the big diesel engine just idle up here let's see how it goes look at that there's not much wheel slip a little bit a left and right the steering wheel and straight up that is the guys farm Creek done yes boys you like that one alright this is definitely going to be a challenge in the thousand buck lakhs there's no lockers it's got mud tires and a two-inch leftover that's about it there's pretty much stop spinning into it mate just as I thought he got hung up in that hard bit right in the middle this is where a real Locker would really make the difference between staying there and getting up to the top you see the big danger here is if doc keeps getting into it he's gonna shock load those CVS and potentially break one so it's best that he backs off and finds another way up she keeps jumping out of gear so I'm she didn't want to get up and she started bouncing which is see the territory so the last thing I want to do is damage the track this early in the season pull the truck for that matter so I'm just gonna back out and go it's all right lucky that's the beauty of Cape York on most of these crossings we've got out here this one Palmer course probably the hardest crossing here on all the crossings just about there's an alternative track I guess you could call it the chicken track if you will this one's actually quite a doozy we'll call this the rooster track cuz it's not much of a chicken Slim Dusty well I think it's time for all shorty to have a crack at that one and cross that fingers and see how we go any shorty that's a real drop that is just a real steep kind of a drop it grains up next to shorty 33 inch tires twin locked you should get up here with ease it's got to be wet from job buddy give it a go see you can crawl up well that's a post mate you diffs adjusting the right that's where the difference between 35 inch tires and 33 is really coming I think the TV is going to mention make get into it a good Drive okay that's growing through now Justin's up as you can see here Justin's just a little bit too far to the left the danger of course is he could go over but luckily he straighten those wheels up and gone down pile Creek quite easily you got got to Miriam now Justin should make this easy with the big Ju heaps of horsepower 35 inch tires and coil springs into it make and look at that drive textbook drive mate well done you know this is going to be the biggest challenge of all downs in the 79 series he's got thirty fives in between lockers but of course he's tying a camper trailer that camper trailer could just act like an anchor and there'll be no way he can get up there he's really got to commit to this Drive now what's happened here is we've got a team of about two inches to the left and that made all the difference on your here comes doing the beak Jay you keep that order everything has got buddy it's the same thing that happened to Graham just tire size is the only thing that stopped in here those 33 inch tires it doesn't give you enough dip Ferris to get over those ruts but with a little bit more momentum yeah Google a good Drive all right we have done 400 meters of a telefax stop for lunch like I mentioned before Justin from NQ crash was the guy behind the thousand bucks he got it ready for us and that meant going through the vehicle with a fine-tooth comb let's see exactly what went into it what have you done with it he's a pretty stock well you can say that look its second owner second okay on it that's it's it's like new inside and it's really slow wasn't you in so I didn't Wow we go is it old jock so where'd you get all the work done obviously a tank you crash we did it all in-house good only us the suspension done as Bush's brake lines hoses we've done all the belts check all the bearings we change every fluid I know people say if you're going to come to the Cape this is a standard type vehicle and it'd be fine you've got to really go through everything and that's what we did we really did yeah well I've been Thank You crash myself saying firsthand yeah but you boys go to make sure every little details right mates got the intense lights on it it's got raw suspension Bruce shown tires and that's just about it well terms of mod - nervously we had to upgrade with a snorkel we put that off at later model Hilux there Sean good at like a glove and like I said that increase the horsepower horsepower like that - so you got four in total this is got four in total and so we do a top speed of about 80 kilometers an hour that's fast enough for job it's faster okay - I tell you what all right well I love it and leave it let's get out of here yeah when you come up and do the tally track you'll see that has so many crossings in a variety of different terrains it's so hard to put all of these into one episode and I guess the one thing you should be careful about is just how deep those crossings are we are up here quite early in the dry season but the top-end didn't really have much of a wet season this year so make sure you do your research before leaving Bramwell and get the lowdown on the track all I can say that this is snorkel country up here wet season and dry season the last thing you want is a cooked motor now I've mentioned this before and a lot of different articles in four-wheel drive action I reckon the mod that you definitely need up here is a winch a snorkel and good tires everything else you can probably do with that as long as you got another vehicle with you Abigale these little beauties I've just stopped to show you something that I think is pretty cool me too a plant nerd but I'll run you through it these things here are called picture plants now picture of course meaning the jugs a jug of water if you use your imagination they look a bit like a jug of water and in fact they're actually filled with water down the bottom there what happens these insects come up over the top fall in down there and the plant actually eats the rotting insects they're really really cool when they get enough they actually close that little lid on top so the nothing more can fly in there I'll fall in there and then they dissolve the insects and that's how they get their nutrients they're really cool in their curve all through this drop in country up here sorry Cape York and on the edge of these waterways you'll see them on all the crossings it's a couple more over there and here if you really want to find them we'll never look at them and you haven't been able to see them on the crossings you've got a fruit bat falls and as you walk down the waterway towards the force they're all along the edge you can't miss it you can't really cool beautiful little creek on the VMS it says pretty creepy so so it looks like you've got along the side of the crater for you to try and cross it didn't see that hole I'm just trying to work out where to go with birdie Creek you really have a lot of large of rotor holes in the middle of the creek you can easily get stuck in them if you go too far there's a four-wheel drive swallowing hole it's that big right in the middle that you've got to look out for with the last of the river crossings done for today we're on the homestretch to camp but as you arrived into camp we found a couple in distress as they were heading down one of the entry points into gunshot Creek their camper trailer got caught up on the drawbar but the worst thing was their winch failed at the exact same time that they need other the most so what they've done they've unhooked the trailer and gone back around to tackle it from the other side and that's the exact time that we met up with him at gunshot Creek this is where rear which really comes in handy I've said it before a rear which is probably one of the number one mods I've done to the vehicle like they say many hands make light work so we all got into it and they're out minutes just uh just winch the trailer back with one out this manhandle into place so that we can get your up and oricon they'll be camped in having to call beer in under an hour and in there for a while Mike you really need to you need some packing dirty okay easy just drink him yeah I think you don't when someone gives you a VM you don't tonight rule the bus Cheers she's brother what a day first I on the tell you what do you think oh my honestly I was a bit worried that it wouldn't live up to the hype yeah I'll tell me hmm cuz I've been looking at it for 10 years are they actually driving it yes I was away I I don't know if it was just because it felt special to me and I came down Palm Pre yeah I was ringing for me pop-pop you did yeah you ain't gonna drive it and everyone tells me that you can't drive it so we're not drive that no thought oh do try Angelo from UT I know I know I'll get less hot a less bit but all right well made I reckon we're never bet you cooker tonight I'm gonna enjoy a call it that but it is food don't go anywhere because he part two we take on gunshot and make our way to fruitbat Falls early morning on the old Telegraph track and what a place to wake up they all had your sleep buddy am i beautiful in that king-size bed bet you were pretty bloody comfortable too mate I was look I've got to ask you how often do you get out of the workshop and spend time in the bush with a camper trailer I try and get away as much as I can mate it's the only way to improve our products or our customers that's the way I'll say it's real I earned a testing really getting to know what the customer wants by using these things in the conditions that your customers are going to be using themselves in that's it right we've seen you out the tracks a fair bit but this models new isn't it I've actually seen this one a little [ __ ] now this is our Ranger Excel night it's a from our popular model our Ranger but we've just beefed it up on steroids right the Ranger XL looks pretty rugged from the outside what have you done what have you done with suspension and so I teach and all that sort of stuff we've beefed up the suspension by putting an independent suspension on it jewel shock is right just to take it to that next level we still got our legendary one-piece galvanize chassis full premium stainless steel kitchen and our legendary nine-foot tender she's tough as nails Oh mate it sounds like the perfect package for any family looking to do the tough stuff but also do it comfortable where you started get it packed up and go you the track say sounds good I'm gonna leave you to it with the camper trailer all packed away and swags rolled up it was time to do a few checks and all the vehicles were set to hit the tracks again one of the things we like to do before we hit the tracks for the day is to spend five minutes and go over the vehicle just have a look for anything out of the ordinary check the oil check the filler and just make sure that everything's nice and tight ready for a day of action the campsite and the first challenge in sighs gunshot rahat next again it's not a bad way to start the day [Music] I reckon gunshots probably got what four five over there three over here at least at least almost almost a dozen entries yeah there's a nice and steep one that's right in the middle gunshot Creek is probably the most famous part of the old telly track and over the years almost a dozen different tracks being cut down to the creek itself some you wouldn't even think about trying while others like this one we're doing right now a quite steep but give you the option to avoid any damage here it is gunshot I've been wanting to drive this for about ever a little bit nervous it's quite steep but I think I don't really go to wrong sort of nestled in a bit of a crack here so you'll be right pretty excited a pretty excited I think I'm gonna get Duff to spot me through this one and here we go let's do this Jocko is up front and for GME handheld radio beeping he needs to driving here is to get my wheels in the right position so I can go down nice and straight there's no brakes well it wasn't graceful but I'm through your next job look there's not many other places you go then just straight down just try not to touch the brakes it's let it work our way down yes we'll see how we go right oh yeah I come Jaques up next and that isn't a good start looks like he stalled it what's happening here is a little highlights keeps jumping out of first gear let's throw him jock off she doesn't know she doesn't like first year don't worry mate it's all downhill from here scene with fashion to the 30 and with a bang well she did not want to stay in gear doing that that was a little bit hairy but we got there The Hold Steady does it Justin and that was probably the most careful drive down gunshot I've ever seen now Dion's up next now of course he's tying a camper trail this is going to be a little bit hard as the vehicle goes down the camp patrols still be strike but this is only one way to find out into a bait debbye coward yep just as we thought the drawbar the pile is actually holding a 79 series up both wheels are off the ground this one's going to be a bit difficult this is exactly what happened to the gentleman that we rescued yesterday he's just got him something to us quite a bother and couldn't go forward because we just can't get traction on two front wheels gentlemen yesterday however he and a winch malfunction at exactly the wrong time exactly when you need your winch the most old mate yesterday his which didn't work I think all we'll do we do now just run his winch out I'm just pulling forward gently he'll be out of here in five minutes flat butt huh jeez what a time for you which not to work I feel sorry for the poor bloke he comes up here all the time he's done gunshot he said to me he's done gunshot like a dozen times just no big deal the one time he did need his winch it just didn't work it wasn't there for him that's a bummer a real bummer there's not much more he could have really done maybe a little bit harder and of course you don't want to break anything so out with the winch we couldn't winch straight ahead here on Dion's winch as there were no trees big enough to winch off so he swung Justin around to use his winch and win the semi 9 Series back at all four wheels yo wheels on the ground what you know the last one a tackle gunshot of course is Stuart you can see just how easy he's taking it might nice and slow and steady that really is the key I suppose the autos doing all the work here he's only just great the tow bar or drop nice work mate now when I was last two on the OTL where's June middle of June I guess you could call it peak season before we even left bramwell station I'd had to pull over for eight four-wheel drives coming through early in the morning every single Creek we came to it was almost impossible to get a campsite it was that busy what am I getting at look at the weather out here absolutely corrugations are still going to be here base don't worry about it look at the weather out here it's absolutely perfect all the water holes beautiful the camping sublime the tourists there's none of them my advice to you folks if you can and I know this school holidays and commitments and things like that but if you can wrangle it get up there early in the sea you will literally have I'm not making this up you literally have the telly line to yourself there will be no one else out here bump get up early and enjoy it folks [Music] now this is where it's great having young jock along for the ride in that thousand bucks you see he knows these Hilux is quite well he's got a 2004 model back at home he's also quite good on the spanner yeah better safe than sorry last thing we want to do is nothing made you to worry about here for now let's keep going now next cross here's a cockatoo Creek another one is quite famous on the old telly track and full of big holes as well if you ask me the perfect spot to stop and have a quick dip in the rapids but I'll tell you what this is still croc country and this is no time to drop your guard until my Catelli track psychology Manowar crossings there's no other place in Australia that has water crossings like that the kind of ones you can swim in you drink the water's pristine this is beautiful copper to Creek is quite deep at the start but it's got a nice rocky bottom so traction is not an issue that's copper to correctly yeah that's the last sort of major one now on the southern section area then you just keep following this up it's straight more for me so there's a couple a little grace nothing else it's our yeah and fruit that falls fruit that falls I can't recommend going in there highly enough night I've heard a lot about it I've seen photos yeah I've always want to be that dude jumping in yeah well you can do that I can we just back up now let's head straight there cool that's Elliott great yeah this is a cool just right up the fruit better all right I'm hot you go Eddie honey swim yeah quino's first Linda let's do it be some well I tell you what this tele track has got so many different types of terrain on it and I guess your foot will drive to our of course has got to be able to perform to put all those different types of terrain when choosing your tire you've really got to look at types well as I'm suggesting there's a rocky bit right here when choosing your tires you've gotta look at your driving style and the types of terrain that you're likely to take your four wheel drive on now Bridgestone offer four-wheel drive is a whole range of different types of tires and they're jewel arranged all designed with a different terrain or I guess purpose in mind with everything from highway performance sports I guess to the all-rounder 86 97 s and then right through to the aggressive MTS well that's that coffee rocky over and don't we that I'm back onto some nice smooth sand but that won't last this is the Delhi track and that's exactly why I'm here this might as well be I'll Telegraph track is it's a series of little arranged really slow creek crossings followed by some some pretty corrugated bits of road that sort of join it all together the next stop on our BMS right now it's fruit that falls I can't wait to go there it's nice and hot in the day it must be pushing over 30 degrees that's for sure I can't wait to get in there for a swim to be honest but more important that it's probably the most photographed place in Cape York I don't even take a photo jump in have a swim it's about as good as it gets beyond me and all I can assure you that it looks a thousand times better in real life than it does on any postcard just a five minute walk from the car park and you're standing at the base of the Falls but very famous fruit bat Falls I've been wanting to come here for just about ever trust me when I say this this does not do it justice what you're seeing right now it doesn't do it justice you really got to come here experience it for yourself speaking of experience in it of it you know the cool thing is about fruit that falls there are no crocodiles so you can jump in have a swim and cool off bring down your bodies and your tower because you don't want to miss this this is absolute paradise this is one of the real reasons why we own four drives to come to places like this an experienced Cape York and all this beauty fruit bat falls really is one of the most scenic places in Cape York and my best advice I can give you we swim right up to the waterfalls sit under it and just take it all in unfortunately though we have to keep moving we have one more Creek to cross before making calves and it's called scrubbing Creek it doesn't actually come up on many Maps but it's one to be careful of till it does get quite deep okay no I don't know it's gonna be Debbie [ __ ] tell ya on it over these like a boat this heaps of traction oh come on Lassie water is coming in my feet up weights Liam it's a nice firm by so just keep it steady facing Gigi I managed to get through a ride I think well done mine that looks right as you can see here Graham's driving into the creek with a bit of amendment but not too much you see the key is you want to bow way around the vehicle to almost carry the vehicles through the creek and keep that momentum right to the end both Dianna stewar very keen to do this crossing in fact they're so keen they're in about third gear low range the problem is of course that the producer Chris we stand on the bank with a camera didn't he get a soaking I tell you what you tell me a couple of years ago they'll be driving a box top I like some up Cape York I would have turn you upside down to shake the rocks out of your head but being in Aus is something special this truck is really rough it's had a couple of little problems but you know it was made in 1992 what can you expect it's rough it's loud it stinks that's mainly because I mean okay it's purely because of me but I kind of think of a better way if you get to the top of Cape York for the first time it's just a really special and I are I love this truck tonight they're making camp it from now creak that's where there's an old shelter that was built by the old mines men on the tele track the perfect spot to keep dry if the weather does turn south but before we can even open a beer we've noticed a problem bottom label solving the caption yes I think you can hear that let's try and start a miner put up and put you up in cakewalk and got a lot of water crossings what am i there we go we've written up that free trade off dynamite this engagement might stop engaging okay I'll stop all right it's a nice smell electrical smell oh that could be a game-changer it feels like telling me in a weeper no well I'm gonna put mine up and get them out any brakes there's no break in the bone mine won't start either so they leave here yes this might be a common structure a border actually headquarters or what we've got a structure over there we can live under I would whoa you guys are facing your chucks up a dessert now I've got Justin with me usually I'm the one stealing his recipes but tonight I've actually bring the recipe to the table it's sort of a law actually I stole the recipe off my grandmother but the basis of it is an apple crumble now it would be an apple crumble if I had enough apples but I've got a lot of peaches because the shop don't have everything I've done bullet peach crumble them America apple and peach crumble exactly right so first things first ingredients maybe out of the wake up you can get us both a beer and we start with that okay it's funny that funny to note right now this Waco CFX 65 it's done over 100,000 kilometers off road in the back of this thing that's pretty remarkable awesome cold beautiful let's see go look at that alright now first things first I'm gonna start mix up the dry ingredients got a cup here now let's go if isco with some oats first orokin all right it's done rolled oats probably go about 2 cups I'd reckon 2 cups of coconut and we've got 1 cup of the flour so got a cup of brown sugar straight in bang and that's basically your crumbled really is that easy so just mix all that together so clean all right dude go into the lake and grab us some butter I just want to get a bit of butter and just basically this line this this camp up in here so nothing sticks I'm watching you as well Mike good come on P I would never take extra beans yeah do a stocktake at the end of this segment let me tell you it's going to get the pages a little much beautiful don't you just chuck the pages in Apple go straight in the tin maybe not that's the theory anyway that's good that does look good but the mix all that up look at that that's all looking looking pretty good alright so the next step I'm gonna take these crumble that I've mixed up put that look at I'm gonna get this estate to say that my boys apple crumble didn't have apple and peach crumble I read a page or even taste have a taste of that yeah I was gonna say Isis oh it's nice it is it is this needs a bit more it's a bit dry yeah you're not really spiced they either like this you're gonna be another breed you up yeah my grab one that's nothing really goodness all right so that can look there we go that's probably enough it's what we've basically done is just put a bit million a half an inch or so yeah probably - over the top of it now crush the cornflakes up and the power I should leave you because you're gonna bring a hammer upon you the title get some calls if you could put some calls and so I will need that in a sec I just want to crush those up that's that adding that crumble bit to the top of this it's gotta be sensational bit of cool flakes on top if you can open those little peanuts over there I'll try to make a mess again we're gonna put some peanuts on top as well tasty out of the fire one of the things you want to make sure we do is not to overcook that so cause we're gonna get a bed of coals beside the fire just a little bit on the bottom Luger the top probably about 25 minutes we'll come back here I'll listen cream and all facilities and the light goes serve it up and dessert is served well I'm making it's nice and hot wolf I morning start up in Cape York and the smell of bacon and eggs waffler the campsite you've got a lot of just how easy is having a kitchen at the ready get the coffee pot on and the brekkie sizzling away do you hear that break you're right it's a slow process Cooper's with 13 men but we're getting there good stuff take it out on that kitchen oh I think I mean camper trailers to me ah the kitchen look at these like a rep ramp inch stainless steel if I don't even know it's in here I don't even look but see I've got everything I need right here well I could do everything before that's got nothing to do with you or the game betrayal now I might it's an absolute pleasure really [Music] it's all automatic transmissions things a does it work do you guys just rebuild transmissions Oh as well as well rebuilding transmissions we also do conversions as well which is a big part of our business okay so this gadgety Kitty thing here make Compu shift cs2 what's this all about it looks pretty complex to me okay so but the biggest advantage with this unit is with a modern vehicle effective software you're limited to what the manufacturer puts in the way it controls so you've driven a few autos sometimes they change gives me you know what I'm - totally we can make it so that they don't have those problems it's totally overrated totally overwrite everything we have full control over lockup the computer has temperature sensor in it so we can monitor temperature live gives the ability to control that temperature change in driving conditions all the problems that you may have in a modern unit from the OEM manufacturer we can resolve all of them by using this unit and make it do whatever we want it to do whenever we want it to do it mate I am assuming you already got one of these fitted so we don't need to keep this on the bonnet let's pack this away show you some back of the truck and we'll get going no worries done I'll leave you with easy with brekkie done and dusted it was time to pack up camp and make our way north but first we have to get Graham started mate all I can say is you should have bought a Toyota okay so my starter motor isn't working so I cannot t start the vehicle but you can watch start now I could have to do that every single time I stopped alive and that's how I [Music] the first crossing today is kanau creek and despite the exit from the creek being relatively easy it's the park just afterwards that is definitely for surprises this must be the famous canal Creek certainly is my Island a lawyer gets that name it must have something to do with the way that off comes through water comes through those rocks actually does look like bit of a canal of course it might have absolutely nothing to do with that from your bloke called mr. canal my beautiful across in any way [Music] there's a bit of a tight turn with the trailer on here our boys just come up to a series of little sort of rabid climbs out of here we say a fun one on the Left I want stop up in the air and just have a closer look and just try and walk it first yeah it's not about ideas your looks really rub it out too you can see just how many different lines that are out here some look easy but a full of talcum powder like mud others look very hard and well well they are very hard I think I've just found the line that'll get me through though but I'll get the boys to spot me just in case I've got to be so careful that I don't drop into the mud otherwise I'll be on sudden all the angles and the food doesn't like that I'm just gonna go back and have another go [Music] you guys have to try and get over to your left night why over [Music] now everyone else's see my lighter Tabriz getting the rest of the trucks out flatout Justin's even found a better line though although it's still challenging this particular line has less of a chance of damage and that's what it's all about that's a smart drive mate [Music] once again we've come to another spectacular water crossing this one is Sam Crete we've also got another amazing campsite here with a piece of room that definitely worth a visit [Music] not much further along we hit cannibal Creek it's quite a steep entry here and off cambered as well let's see how we go um it doesn't look too bad I don't just go a lot faster than this helmet - no brakes [Music] yes LT bad vibe just um use your brights going down there yeah fortune I've still got brights I think look at that little Lux ego it absolutely loves KP or I'll tell you what I really do have a soft spot for old trucks [Music] now Dion's taken the perfect line through this Creek he's done so with the aid of Justin who's out in front spotting you see he's got to be really careful to get that trailer nice and wide so he doesn't click the bank [Music] but it is mild mObridge I've seen this many many times in pictures and I'm pretty excited to drive it just want the fact it looks like a cube in any moment doesn't it just just it must looks like it shouldn't baby the spot right just try not to move down [Music] yeah I didn't look down I couldn't go you don't make me I'll tell you what I've always wanted to drive that an old mug bridge in Cape York it's about as iconic as they come jocks approach is nice and easy but it probably helps that the Lux doesn't weigh much at all nice work buddy a small amount of maneuvering for Dion to get the trailer around but that's nothing that he can't handle as the camera crew came back to the 80 series I noticed the smell of coolant which isn't never a good thing especially up in Cape York I think everyone's got something to offer in a situation there's some expertise over here of course we've got Justin who comes from a long line of mechanical knowledge we gots two dogs coming to lend a hand as well I'll just figure you do what you can after remembering that the 30 has no brakes we all decided that would get Justin in the patrol to tow the 80 back look it's never a good thing when a patrol tows a Land Cruiser so let's just forget this ever happened [Music] unfortunately it's going to be a very slow process with the engine not running Chris our producer has just about no brakes and no power steering so communication between him and Justin is very important right now but it seems that we've got even bigger problems now which one what side where your flex comes first on let's write it out that's a little problem having along and the wheels just fall it off no biggie though I carry spares I've got spare wheel studs I've got spare wheel nuts and I've got a ball deck but a couple of May to look like that can you give me a hand side highlights are still running so I'll probably just see it a fairy if you like well you can't get bars this one can you that's let's give this one a go it's alright just a minor is selection of faults there hopefully as it turned out my spare wheel studs for the 30 ruining my box of bolts so we have to raid Justin's truck and luckily he had a set for the GU which turns out they fit perfectly alright well times against us a bit now we are going to make an effort to try and get the ferry tonight get across the jaw line but we've got a big Ford up here I forget the name of anything even got a name quite deep then we've got Nolan's and of course he'll make the run to it the ferry and we're towing and we've got a few other bits and pieces we're still looking after selecting I don't even gonna make it personally I reckon be better off to stop in the night at Nolan's we can all go for a swim cool off get a bit clean but we will give it a red-hot go we'll see how long it takes us to get there now and it takes us to get through we'll make a judgment on the other side ok wheels it back on and we're making a move again towards the Jardine ferry Logan Creek is up next we could be quite deep depending on the time of year to take care of this one [Music] and finally we've made it to what I've been looking forward to Nolan's Brooke now despite the water being very low and it's quite easy to cross the fact that I finally have filled that dream of getting up here in the 30 well words can't even begin to describe it I'll have a lot of water in here I'm saying saying it with a lot more water but it's Nolan's all the same [Applause] Mars is just one of those places that you've really got to experience for yourself on the up side of the water being low and then we could have a quick swim but watch out for Crocs they have been spotted here before and if you can't see the bottom clearly it's definitely not worth the risk we decided that we'd camp here for tonight although it would have been nice to crack on we were just too late to make the ferry which shuts at 5:00 p.m. sharp crack of dawn when our on the first ferry heading north you can't cross the Jardine at the Ford buy full will drive anymore so make sure you factor in a return ticket into your journey it's a short journey over and the road to the tip is pretty good from here on [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] and here we are the tip of Cape you're an amazing spot that you can literally spend hours just taking it all in you've got pristine beaches stained views and great fishing only a short 5-minute walk from the carpark and you'll literally be standing at the very top of Australia Cape York is one of those places that just screams that adventure do yourself a favor make sure you save up enough money get the time off work and just can't hear and experience this place for yourself and trust me you won't regret a minute of it well here we are tip of Cape York the most northerly point on the Australian mainland any times for you but for me it's been sports this is the first time with the dirty thirty the old-timers why our boat I mean by a strange thing but we did I think this is my fifth I'm not entirely sure but no matter how many times you get up here you never tire of getting with the tip-off and Cape York northernmost end of Australia watching that little luck see it really blew you away really goes to prove that anybody can come up here and do what we've been doing last couple of weeks joke had nothing my course he used our fridges and bits and pieces yeah use my courage more than once more keeping tabs on that he bought us work with him yep I think you had a change on two pairs I'm not go up and that's it nothing else drives the whole thing no drama at all in fact he's getting me started most days now because I can just goes to show you don't need much to get the tip of Cape York tip of Australia what do you reckon just anyone is even good and you've got a good it's one of those things you just have to do guys you know I save all year if you have to but just make the effort to come up here take sickies whatever you need to do come to Cape York say you can for us like we've got a bit more time up here we're gonna do a bit more exploring folks we'll catch you next time on for
