BOGGED on Fraser Island – HUGE recovery on Ngkala Rocks – beach fishing, catch and cook

[Music] pure the hunt for Destination that's on the bucket list of virtually every four-wheel driver in Australia then look no further than Fraser Island that is the ticket that is a ticket Mike more people get involved in this one patch of sand and probably anywhere else in Australia take three coming in very hot this is a situation where no four wheel driver really wants to get themselves into you've ordered it so here it is the big 200 takes on Fraser Island Air Adventure begins at the Gateway to Fraser Island in skip Point as we knock some air out of the tires we wait for the ferry that'll take us across to one of my favorite destinations in the country I've got a great group of mates joining me on this adventure but what makes this trip even more exciting is it's the first time off road from my brand new four-wheel drive only the 200 Series has always been a dream of mine for years and this Beast is the First new vehicle I've ever owned after months in the DMW Workshop the 200 is now chopped extended and kitted out as the ultimate tourer ready to take on the most remote destinations going and Fraser Island is going to be its first Shakedown soon enough we're boarding the manta ray barge that'll take us over to the island where we'll be in for a few days jam-packed full of fishing camping and exploring [Music] well how good is this Fraser Island I'm gonna give it a bit looks pretty soft oh look at the big 200 this is the first time believe it or not I've taken the 200 on a trip got a few good mates in the lineup today the Taylor season is in full swing I couldn't be any more happy I mean this is my favorite place in one of my favorite football drives I just can't wait I'm just I'm so excited like literally like a kid in a candy store just to be able to use this camping setup use this vehicle I've got a few or three fishing rods with me rice rolling Buckle in this is gonna be a wild little trip now Graham's D-Max might be right behind me in the Convoy but unfortunately he's not with it because of covert lockdowns which has meant that he's stuck in wa but he's given me the keys and I've given him to a good mate of mine Sammy hit ski and riding shotgun is Jackson from Cub campers the boys will be living it up in style in Graham's pride and joy and Jackson bought the perfect camper trailer to Fraser Sammy and I are fishing mates from way back and I reckon he'll be keeping me on my toes on this trip Sammy you're a copy mate yeah you got your shorn out well every time I might I hit the sand over here I'm bloody excited mate and I reckon we're in for a river of a trip right and how's the weather as well not only is phrase we're a cracker of a spot we've got the weather it's going to be a good trip as long as we can find a few fish as well of course yeah mate we'll have fun trying all right let's see if we can get around this hook point and um let's go up and find a gutter or something next up in the Convoy is a familiar read to four wheel drive 24 7. wheeled by Bryce from fulcrum suspensions running out the Convoy is Reuben from DMW Industries for this trip he swapped out his usual chop 200 for something a little bit more classic foreign it doesn't take long to get into things on Fraser and up ahead is the first real test on the island the iconic Indian Head the route across here is a long stretch of soft Fraser Island sand and presents a great chance to test your tire pressures and get a sense of the conditions ahead all right boys this challenge Harley needs introduction Indian Head just uh oh back if you're in a room see what happens though let's go for it good luck mate she's 200 it's unlike anything I've ever driven with power on tap and so much control and it just eats it up you might have a bit of a struggle you've got to sort of turn a bit of a Sharp corn it's a few big ruts in it as well I'll give it plenty of right though yeah that's a guy get a good run up you should be right it's gonna wait at the top just in case you're not you'd be hanging to toe out with that 200 wouldn't you would be mate would be would be the first big recovery for this thing it's got aims of power holy heck what was um about a quarter throttle up through there right tote and go go this is always a good test if you're towing something if you get through Indian Head you're going all right nice rut there every day of the week and twice on Sundays thank you very much I shouldn't doubted you Sammy not today my friend not today first time here at Fraser Indian Heads let's go do this easy you guys made that look too easy I mean this thing I'm gonna have to have two hands on the wheel and uh all the power this thing has got all two horsepower of it I want to say that foot buried on the floor pan mate look out here I come in the second low range oh third come on big girl practice second this time it's amazing come on big girl like you got two hands-free for this one I gotta with Indian head under our belts the plan is to try and make it up to my favorite Camp spot on Fraser all the way up to Sandy Cape between us and the destination lies about 45-50 kilometers of soft sand with some big tides to navigate and of course the hardest challenge on Fraser ningala rocks but we've barely even made it down to the next section of beach before there's a little bit of trouble in the Convoy so guys um come on boys little little little thing to admit we've uh we've just sitting on the other side Indian waiting for uh for the camera crew to catch up to us went to have a little move and we've we've dug it in now I know Sammy's Keen to be the first one to get a run on the fishing board but instead he's the first one to get bogged bad luck buddy turns out it's a bit softer than it looks here took off was moving so I said to uh to Jack I was like we're gonna get stuck here and sure enough we lost our speed lost our momentum and seano started laughing at us and we actually have to move pretty quick we've got a tide coming up we obviously don't want salt water all in the vehicle the tides on Fraser can really catch it by surprise and all of a sudden those waves are coming in uncomfortably close Sammy I know nice and steady get over go get it on go go go go go hang out all right stop stop stop as soon as he starts to go down again yeah go go like straighter up don't go up the hill it's gonna be easier oh just if you can just get on that bit you might have enough to just keep going this is a situation where no four wheel driver really wants to get themselves into you've got an incoming tide up here you're actually quite down the high tide Mark is up past the vehicle so this is a tide that's racing in big tides at the moment in about five minutes the war will be about this deep we can't knock around yeah good luck yeah Sammy's bogged again but this time he's off the power early and keeps those tires from sinking down it's a bit funny before it's not so funny now we're um pretty well just going from Max tracks straight back down so not ideal and we do have to get out of here pretty quick we've got water coming up so um it started off as a big laugh and now it's not so much we're really running out of time now and if this attempt doesn't work we're going to day to look for a plan B this time it's worked and just in the nick of time you can see right there just how treacherous this sand can be and especially when the tide is rushing in behind us that was a close call but we're through unscathed well Sammy there you go mate is that the first time you've been bogged on Fraser Island mate it is probably first time hanging around with a bunch of cool blokes as well mate them sort of first on this trip mate but I I I'll give it to the boys out fast set of hands get the match tracks out of those tires and um it would have been about two minutes after you left no joke waves were in those ruts and um the place is flooded I gotta hand it on the service was impeccable I don't think I even had to put one in myself it was fantastic I said well oil machine will need it as well if this is anything to go by it's gonna be pretty soft up in the gala but we'll give it about go uh we might have to wait the tide out a little bit but we'll see how we go mate it might mean some fishing opportunities up up here maybe um at least you can watch Me Maybe catch a tailor that'll be good to see I'm not gonna lie the boys and I have got a bit of friendly rivalry when it comes to fishing and I'd love to pick to catch a nice tailor for dinner and since we had to wait out the tide it's a perfect time to have a crack but everyone else seems to have the same idea and lines are dropping in left right and Center the boys are already already having a cast I feel a little bit behind usually on the first rigged and ready but the way I say it I'm just going to give the boys a bit of a chance bit of a head start they're going to need all the luck they can get on this trip it looks like I've jinxed myself there and First cast sami's hooked up to a nice fish what do you call it there's a nice bit of white water there Sean's still rigging up which is even better oh looks like I'm about to beat him the first fish of the trip oh yeah not gonna say no to a little GT look at Shawna you can see him over the car he's picked up his Pace he's still rigging up he covered me with sand but it's one nil to me I'm on the board first fish of the Fraser trip bloody good start getting back anyway I've even tied a lure on all right the games are officially beginning [Music] very next cast there is a Fraser on Taylor forcing because we needed a couple of fish from B2 so this guy will be coming home with us he will be a dinner fish boys well the pressure's on now Sammy's already two up and rushing for another [Music] I can't let you all night break me [Applause] it's a little thing I like to call three now uh yeah the boys yes I don't know if you know what they look like but uh this is a dialogue just practicing getting ready mate you know what daddy's not a bad little Taylor too that'll go all right as an ingredient I can keep him I've got a got some plans for those so we have any more do you want me to catch because I'm like just put in your order now come on that's a great little Taylor Mike well I've got to say Sami is well and truly owned this one with four fish and three Keepers from our first session but that's the great thing about Fraser there's just so many opportunities to wear the line well boys that was a little bit of fun little five minute couple of casts Sammy you did all right mate you did all right I can't drive but I can I can wheel the rod all right yeah boys I'm just a bit worried because I've known Sonny for a little bit and uh he's got a bit of a habit of peeking early and um today's thing to go by mate I think he's he's heady strides and um that's probably the last you'll see of Sammy on the fishing front yeah well mate it would be good to see the boys get a few fish because at the moment I'm having a crack and feed and you go it's slim pickings for tonight's uh menu mate but hopefully we can add to the tally when you're heading north on Fraser you can't go past a bit of a cool off at Champaign rocks this rock pool is one of the few safe swimming spots on the island and if you can time the tides right it's a perfect place to jump in [Music] we're soon back into it heading towards the biggest obstacle between us and Sandy Cape a four-wheel drive challenge that is known around the country as a place that can quickly bring a trip unstuck of course I'm talking about the infamous nagala rocks these rocks up in front of us are my favorite rocks and Fraser Island because as far as I'm concerned it's like the gateway to Paradise a lot of locals been saying it's pretty tough at the moment really sort of dry at the moment when you don't get a lot of rain up here on Fridays that's hand becomes super soft and ningala doesn't need an excuse to get people bogged I mean more people get bulged in this one patch of sand and probably anywhere else in Australia this year we're taking a camper trailer well more importantly Sammy's taking a camper trailer what this part happened have a bit of a look at it I think the climb over in Gala rocks is not one to underestimate the sand around here can bug you to the axles quick as a flash and being in the middle of a hot afternoon the sand has had plenty of time to dry out making it super soft and powdery obviously even just a couple of PSI difference can make you know a huge percentage change the amount of air letting out your tire so we've taken the D-Max from 15 psi down to 10 psi that's like nearly a 50 reduction in the volume of air and that's all there so every little bit of traction helps in this off sand that's exactly what we're doing so you want it to belly out of course at the bottom but what you're looking for is not just how much a belly's out at the bottom it's the lengths the track length of the tire so the bigger the footprint of your of your tire um the more attraction you're going to get more rubber on the ground obviously is going to help you cause and sand a lot so that's what we're trying to do here I'm down to 18 PSI there's a big heavy girl that's not much air for these tires as we've seen so far Towing any kind of trailer oven and Gala is going to be a big ask it's going to give the D-Max a bit of a helping hand on this one while Sean will be coming around the corner any second now he's going to pull up just up here and we're going to hook all these snatch straps up to the D-Max and then Sean's going to give it the berries up that really powdery soft sand and hopefully the D-Max and trailer will follow it's gonna be interesting now Sammy was Keen to give it a go but with the conditions as they are if he goes down we could be stuck here for hours and we've got a tied to beat to get to our campsite North and in Gala now the Cub camper is super light at under 1260 kilos tear weight but combined with a fully loaded vehicle there's a lot of force at play here all right this is gonna be something oh yeah that's the luck mate [Music] let's go off we go oh not soft that's a little buddy oh like not stop until I say I think got it with full time what a weapon and just like that mingala rocks is done and dusted well I don't think I've ever seen Sammy that wide I mean he's pretty one of the best of times but that's that's the epitome of white knuckle driving I was actually stoked the big 200 did that I did not believe it could do it I guess it's a lot of weight with a lot of power and those tires are down at the right level that makes all the difference okay here we go seano I'm gonna let loose and uh meet your boys there at the end [Music] oh bro she's not home back I'll tell you what it is oh there it goes and look at that two inch lift and 32s the fulcrum rig Just Nails it don't know whether I'm going to go first or second gear which is a bit doughy we'll see here we go wish me luck everybody oh here we go flat come on big girl [Music] without you good thing yes well boys and Gala rocks done in dusted that means we're at the Gateway to Sandy cake we need to get up there and uh find an epic campsite which shouldn't be too hard and then uh maybe tonight I think tonight it will be the night if we can get a couple of fish wouldn't mind uh cooking up a bit of a treat you're cooking up my fish at this stage mate well I think my when we came with a group of lads like today and you've been bogged a few times I think they soon become our fish right I'm looking forward to this feed I bought a heap of chili with me so I don't know uh if you want to add any of that mate oh I never say no to a bit of chili mate you know me um all right Bryce you've never had my cooking before mate but um I suggest you start doing stretches now buddy oh yeah I'm soaking there sure no can't wait a from what I've seen uh you do cook up a storm yeah you write to your taste it mate anyway let's get up to Sandy cave eh now some fresh fish might be one meal you can catch yourself on the island but there's another little hidden tree just under the sand that's worth looking for I'm talking about pippies these little Beauties don't just make good bait but they also cook up for a pretty tasty little Camp entree hey guys what you looking for see these little divots right here Phoebe's at low tide sort of expose themselves as hundreds down this beach but just having a quick dig like that right on one of those divots there you go look at that one it's a squirter that's a good one [Music] we've soon got a good haul of pippies on board and fried with some garlic and butter I reckon these will go down a treat later at camp and speaking of it's about time we got to our final destination of the day foreign [Music] after the northern tip of Fraser Island is up ahead and that big left turn that leads to some of the finest camping in the country [Music] I'll say this just about every time I come here this is dead set one of my favorite places in Australia I love Sandy car I love the fact when you come down through a series of challenges like this drive down the beautiful beach Once you turn this corner entering Paradise wow look at this what dreams are made of [Music] this part of Fraser only sees a fraction of the visitors compared to the rest of the island and he's just open to 30 people a day so booking well ahead is important but once you get to this pristine stretch of beach you practically got the whole place to yourself aside of course from a couple of the locals it's not long to have found the perfect place to set up for the night but I'm getting the first chance to camp out of my new rig and what a place to park up this place is just magical [Music] there's no doubt that the camping setup in the 200 is perfect for my needs and you've got to check out the setup on the Cub camper because this thing is just insane what else is that is super fast you're saying there's a quick setup well this just pops up one a flick mate and she's up how easy that done oh yeah I can say I helped I helped out the camper trailer mate that's insane how quick that sets up exactly made under a minute under a minute I've got a question for you mate you've got to be real honest with me somebody's nowhere to be seen so how's he driving a bit of a let down he's doing a good job he's doing a good job he's doing a good job I am riding shotgun but yeah doing a good job you got to say that this early in the trip I understand mate look I also noticed another thing mate is that what I think it is in there it's a kitchen in there mate full stainless kitchen for you all right I've got a couple of ideas tonight mate I'm looking to make a bit of a mess mate but I might come back a bit later I'm gonna go have a beer maybe even go for a bit of a fish but tonight if I can use that kitchen I've got a bit of a plan done mate easy the cab camper might be compact but it packs all the features you could ask for in a bigger trailer including a king-size bed trick 12 volt system a fridge slide heaps of storage and Jackson's quickly got the awning out as well making this a perfect little base camp you saw how easy it is to set up too covered designed the poles at the rear here on gas struts so you push it up and it'll lock itself open and tight not bad for a hundred percent Aussie made camper that's got a ball weight of only 149 kilos [Music] with cap set up it's time for an iron jacket a few more casts look at this folks absolute Paradise yeah this seems a little bit intense for a bit of Beach fishing but all we're going to do here is the boys have a bit of fish I'm gonna tuck a bit bigger bait out and see what happens we've got the Drone we're going to use the Drone to basically take the bait about I don't know 50 to 100 meters out drop it over that little gutter out the back here and uh hopefully we shouldn't have to wait too long we'll see what happens anyway be a bit of fun this is your most delicate Mission yet mate that's it that's it nice and slow yes I've only found a good use for the camera yes he's doing good he's doing good yes big big drop big drop fish on now this is Fraser at its absolute finest and I reckon if there was every reason needed to justify all those arrows in the shed building your dream rig then it's right here I couldn't think of anywhere else I'd rather be right now unless of all right this is chronic pain so the first step is remove the labeler you don't want anyone reading this this is the first step and then we're just going to say it's some sort of homemade it's also picked up from mums something like that [Music] Sandy Cape we've got the full kitchen set up and it doesn't give us better than this I mean fishing rods actually set in the background it is ready to roll it's not very often you can actually do a cooking scene have a fishing rod with a live bait just ready to go this is going to be a bit of a Captain Cook now obviously the captain there's a little bit of catching going on mostly Sammy to be honest with you we've got some poopies though and um we're gonna do a bit of an entree with the pippis like not very often you'll see a bit of a three-course meal I'm thinking pippies Burgers that's what I'm doing tonight okay and um a couple of iron Jacks as well so three course meal first things first though I want to get the batter going because we're going to be doing bee battered fish this is really easy to do guys and it's a nice way to make fish go I reckon a bit of a long distance as well so if you haven't caught a heap of fish you know what I mean you can sometimes make it go quite the distance I didn't even like a bit of flour you've got plain flour here you knew yourself raising somebody's a big fan of the self-raising yeah there's no measurements is it it's poor until it looks a bit right isn't it here's the little tip though this is you don't read this in Chef's school this one here is rice flour they're rice flour right is going to keep the batter really crunchy because yeah you don't want soggy batter now you would have been there a few times and you don't want that and the reason I'm doing the flour first before the entree because I want to actually put it in the fridge let it cool down a little bit that's the way you get the absolute crispiness a little pour of salt boom just like that okay crack an egg in there mate I'm like a well do it one-handed oh there's a bit of a bit of Bitcoin that's all right that's all right we're going to a little line Jack beer batter needs beer obviously let's go another pull that beer in slightly now ice cold Wine Jack is the go give that a stir mate I reckon your right hand is a bit stronger in the morning oh mate right don't donate yeah here we go here we go he's gonna pour that beer either and what we're looking for is we want that batter to be you want it to be runny but not too runny but not too dry I need a bit I need a bit you need it you need it nice and slow to start with that's looking pretty good give us a fork for a second give us a talk sometimes you put it on a bit of an angle if you're a proper chef hear that that's the noise you want look I had a longer stroke you're used to Shorter strikes so everyone gets it yeah we know that is looking good what you want you want it to fall off the the fork just like that it's it's see here it's like it's a bit sticky but you're still getting the yeah yeah Chuck that in the fridge now you want your batter to be as cool as possible because probably leave it now ideally we don't have that much time up Our Sleeve but if you're at home you know you really want to press someone an hour in the fridge make that batter nice and cold you're going to get a way better Brown crispiness on your batter so now for the entree so that's a fair old bit of butter and then some garlic a lot of you guys are thinking at home right now hippies they're only good for bait you use them for bait wrong you can also eat them now the key is Kate if you're going to keep your peepees for a little while you do regular water changes on them trying to keep them alive because you don't want an off-piffy trust me it'll ruin your camping trip that butter is melting now starting to get really hot on that pan yep drain a bit of the salt water off that's it put them in put them straight in right I'm skeptical to say the least that's all you need to do as someone who's always caught Plenty of Fish to be honest but um this is going to be an experience now to be honest with you this is actually a little Hidden Gem a lot of people don't know about this because they don't eat the bait this is what you're looking for folks so this one here she's just spread a little shells open and that is ready to go I'll put some dipping sauce out for the boys wrap your peepers around that one well that's a that's a that's a big PV that one right that is open Ward coming so it's pimpy school have a go Ruby I know we stole your boat so you get the next one careful it will be warm if you want a little bit of dipping sauce this one's a nice little like a sweet chili sauce sweet chili doesn't get much better than that dip it in that is for those lovely little garlic number that Chili's got some some punch about it is it really hot no oh I love that I eat it all the time four what is that what do you mean really that he's hot really oh here you go well there goes out I mean on Friday was an absolute winner can't find the boys they're actually oh somebody's back he's having his back this one here is the old uh veggie oil so I've got to put a fair bit in that I'm gonna coat them we're going for a deep fry proper deep fry okay so that that's going to get nice and hot see you get a little bit of smoke coming off the oil that's exactly what you want so we've got a little bit of Pineapple eat and you want you want oh that's Reuben that no that's not Roman that's Reuben that's Improvement it's a fish is it go where is it that's Reuben see I said you should have known oh well that was the stitch up of all time yeah like official I didn't think Ruby could run that far to be honest it was a lot of noise after those pippies all right right that's nice and hot you're hot you want the oil hot that's what you want so what we're doing is trying to coat them all with bad up and trying to break the ring at the same time all right that's looking good put that straight in that's what you want that's what you want have you got something for me to tend to these with hang on let me assess the kitchen oh we've got a second set of tongs here so why while you're doing those ones I'm gonna put the old pineapple to the side get the fish out and the fish are going to get the same treatment you want that so yeah that's just dripping off nicely you want them fully coated that's what I'm doing now I'm just getting the fish done this is the thing well out in the bush we're right at Sandy Cape at the moment like one of the most remote places on Fraser we've got a full Gourmet Kitchen that's what I'm talking about stainless steel everywhere we are cooking up an absolute feed you couldn't do this on a basic setup you just couldn't look at that they are looking good Michelle I think ahead for one second can I put the pancetta on actually good idea forgot about that I'm gonna do it put that on it's actually prosciutto we're not that fancy over here [Music] right now I'm gonna take this last one out mate get the oil out put it straight onto that a little bit of paper towel to absorb that a little bit of this h on H1 I'm gonna be on tarte Judy do you want me to spray the lid if you could I'll spray the lid yes we go bit of tartare tartare sauce is okay bit of fish for everyone that is a solid little bit of fish like on a burger it's a nugget pour an apple straight on I'm just gonna say it right now the key to a Sandy Cape Burger is do not wash these now what they come with is is the good stuff just a little bit on top a little bit presentation for that it is actually it is that that is that's hard that's how you know you're dealing with a Gourmet Chef when they get the presentation like this like proper you're dealing with a proper Burger Boys you better come around because I think we're on that is a fair bit going on we've got double battered uh Burgers here we've got the fish we've got the pineapple we've got a little bit of uh Green Ridge and um the job is on right hello peso more importantly not crunch right you paid 25 bucks for that in the shop all day long folks you can make this so easy this is the thing you don't need many ingredients here to make you can fish and um you get yourself just a little bit of a cook up going on helps you've got a kitchen but seriously that is as good as it gets [Music] well it's been a cracking first day on Fraser and a good feed just about tops it off and tomorrow we've got another great day planned as we check out another Gem of the island the West Coast [Music] there's no such thing as a bad morning on Fraser but today is an absolute Perler all the phrases many campsites offer full beachfront camping but Sandy Cape secluded camping spots are perfect for smaller convoys just like ours the island is home to a large dingo population and while these guys look friendly it's best to give a bit of room and avoid leaving any food around your campsite when it comes to a camp cook-up Reuben's always got you covered and while the 40 might be pretty tight on space for accessories he's managed to pack an entire Camp kitchen and soon as a bit of a gourmet feed on the go my I could smell that from over at morning grabs up mate I just kind of believe you can fit all of this a full kitchen setup in the back of that little shorty now it's unreal and it just all folds up slides all the way in don't have to have a canopy you can put it in an 80 series whatever yeah obviously saw you with your first prototype down in Victoria and obviously you're making them now to basically fit all of your applications from sitting on drawers to the back of canopies like mine it's just a little tiny kitchen that all sort of folds out slides out you get yourself even if you don't have much space you can have a full size yeah absolutely you've got a kitchen like that bench folds up here and you come out look at all the prep room another cooker here Pantry there you know and if you're in a higher vehicle this actually slides down to the height that you need it to so yeah unreal mate look it's it's it's a very clever design I just didn't think you had it in yet you got to cook something like this to be honest that smells absolutely delicious so it's got a little omelette specialty for you Sean Sandy Cape is a kind of destination that's perfect for parking up for a few days and chilling out with a fishing rod and a few mates but we've got plenty more spots to show on Fraser Island so we're gonna be moving on to our next destination one of the best tips I can give you for getting in and out of Sandy Cape is to get a tide chart and plan your run there's only two short windows a day to make it around the top of the island and for the rest of the day it's inaccessible for us that means we've got to get packed up lickety-split as the next high tide is on its way in there Graham I know you're probably watching this thanks very much for letting me borrow the D-Max I'm pretty much looking after it there's a bit of sand here and there the gala knocked it around but look I'll get it back to you in one piece don't worry don't stress you can have it back soon probably got more fishing gear than it used to but it's a good upgrade boys are just packing up camp now so I thought I'd just have a quick look at the VMS and try and plan a bit of a route for today I'm thinking I'm going to go back down the beach back through nagala back down through Indian onto the main Beach we'll have the tides just right so we'll be able to cut straight down the beach and then go up one of these Inland tracks now the plan is to get to the West Coast tonight and we'll be able to take a couple of sneaky little tracks to get up to a winner and then maybe just go down the down the beach until we find a nice little campsite for the night there's heaps to see and do in the middle of the island heaps of tracks and if you have a good GPS as well you get to see all of those tracks and there are just so many you can literally spend a couple of weeks just exploring the Inland sort of tractor Fraser I don't kick the engines in the gear get off this beach before the tide closes in wouldn't be bad basically stuck but I've only got a few miles to do today you've seen already how quickly the tides turn on the island and this morning is no exception and by the time we get rolling the beach has all but disappeared well this is pretty wild just getting out of camping probably hung around us a little bit too long this morning and the tide is coming in we're just gonna pick in the waves to try and Miss salt water hitting the side of the car wow I think they only just made that if we waited around probably another 10 minutes would be stuck probably another eight hours at Sandy cape it's always hectic when you're chasing the tide like that pretty nerve-wracking to get to the West Coast we're going to eat up some caves back down the Eastern side of the beach and of course we'll have to tackle ningala rocks from the other direction the entry on this side is a lot steeper and can present quite a challenge all right in Reverse very soft sand yesterday I saw Stack Up able giving it multiple goes safely going to want to get into this one and we're just going to take it pretty easy to start with and all the boys are sort of watching just to see how the v200 goes because the trailer is coming up next with the D-Max I gotta say this 200 is just insane so much power and so easy to drive and look at that it's barely even struggling in this soft sand what an absolute weapon yeah good CSA it's just I've never done the girl like this I'm just so quiet in here it's all refined I just need a little bit of classical music playing yeah right so this is what the 200 series life's all about well sure they made it look a lot easier than it is uh it's pretty soft it's pretty powdery mate you're gonna have to get some of those fishing skills there right I don't know if fishing's Gonna Save Me yeah you just hear you feel things and whatever else you got this in the bags yeah yeah stop I know all right Sammy the gala part two let's give it a red hot nudge [Music] stop there Sean we're at the uh start we we didn't get far at all I'm gonna have another crack but I don't like our chances at all [Music] this time the boys are going for a much longer run-up all right take two more pace go go I've got a baby not much not much forward right you're a better fisherman than you are a driver oh come on you want to go all right we got a bit further up we're just gonna give it one more go and he AP pace and then that's it take three coming in very hot tree and this time he's carrying some good paste keep going keep going stop stop mate come and give us a bump if you don't mourn ah that was a great attempt but with the car Halfway Around the Bend it'll be a challenge to back down so we're gonna have a try and snatch it from here it'll be a bit of an ass but I'm Keen to test the pulling power of the big 200. I just hope I've got enough traction on this off sand to be able to snatch him in a trailer ideally you do it at the bottom but we'll see ready when you are Adam mate go go oh well that almost got me bogged as well but we made a bit of ground one more goat [Music] go go go go I know it he bought it he bought it he bought it I was thinking [Music] should we put some Maxis down to give us a bump yeah that would would help we've got a fair few Max tracks in this Convoy and this is the perfect place to make use of them we're putting tracks under the D-Max as well as the camper and also rolling the 200 back onto a set to help me get a bit of momentum out of the gate all right Sammy you good that is the ticket that is a ticket Mike yeah I'm good boys that was pretty wild but we're through but now we need a Waterboy to bring all those tracks back up and the fulcrum rig is soon loaded up [Music] [Music] how good is this [Music] Reuben doesn't have the payout for a fast run-up so he's gonna have to just pick the perfect gear and hang on [Music] [Music] I tell you what it's soft even even the old Jordy I'm like back in first oh you didn't file me you good girl yes oh it's a tattooed guy on second gear and I'm like come on you good thing and then back to First and started buried inside of it quicker maybe I should have rule we got it through foreign [Music] ER is jam-packed full of spots that are just too good to drive past like here at Wadi point we've soon got the rods out while Jackson pulls out the kitchen for a quick fry up foreign [Music] [Music] [Music] all right time to get onto the Inland tracks and my other favorite phrase of destination the West Coast soon we're into the forest at the center of the island and while our end goal is another cracking Beach camp there's one spot you just can't skip over along the way [Music] this beauty is like McKenzie a stunning freshwater lake at the heart of the island it's a world heritage listed swimming spot that you just gotta experience for yourself [Music] with a bit of a freshen up it's on to our final destination of the day the secluded West Coast I've got to say very impressed about how the 200s are driving not just the fact that it's extremely capable but also it just rides really nice now the Inland tracks of Fraser on a touristy rough lots of washouts corrugations that sort of stuff the v200 is just doing it so easy and that's probably because I've got the right suspension on this thing I've got a combination of fulcrum suspension and it's just been set up for a big heavy 200 series I think that's the key when you're setting your suspension up make sure you get all the weight done on the vehicle first before you choose your Springs the shocks make sure that suspension is absolutely suited to the weight that you're carrying and that way your vehicle will ride the best that it can we've got to say this combination it's absolutely eating up these tracks on Fraser [Music] it's not long until the western side of the island is on the horizon fly sees a fraction of the visitors then the Eastern beaches and the camping here is Second To None the other guy mate the west coast of Fraser Island doesn't get much better than that mate and what a day for it too I might add looks pretty spectacular unbelievable unbelievable Bryce you haven't seen the West Coast before have you mate nah mate this is the first time first time on phrase the first time seeing the West Coast at it looks fantastic have a look at this view just glass and the sun glistening off the water absolutely magnificent it's about as good as it gets if you ask me mate and um we're planning to go today I think you've been here before Rubes one of my favorite West Coast campsites that's for sure is unreal all right let's Lock and Load I'll uh try and get down to Camp before it gets too late Cape getting the campsites here is all about timing the tides with many sites blocked by Crossings like this one at high tide but we've nailed the tides today and it's a smooth run up to our next campsite where I reckon we're in for a perfect Sunset over the water [Music] there's not many places outside of wa that you can park up with a sunset Waterview and I think it's only thing to celebrate with a beer and a few casts foreign [Music] it's been a long journey getting the 200 series ready to take me to places just like this and I'm super stoked to finally be here no doubt a few of you guys want to see what makes this thing sing and I'll tell you what just after living out of this thing for a couple of days I'm falling in love with this vehicle even more I mean I've got to be really honest with you I've never ever camped out of something so luxurious it's got absolutely everything what I can't get over is not just how this thing rides and how much power it's got all that sort of stuff but just how how out set up I mean this touring setup has really got everything you'd ever want in it and it's got so much space I'm not used to having this much space and any of my setups and I'm just enjoying just the little things like I've got one big draw which I know there's a lot of different Vehicles out there with heaps of different storage bits and pieces but one big draw I keep everything in clear top bags in there it's easy to access anything anything I want out of this vehicle I can get in about 15 seconds I've got some clear top bags up there I've got a little cooker up there I'll show you that in a second red vision's been performing flawlessly we've got 200 amp batteries and I think the lowest I've seen it go down to is about 80 so that's after a big night of camping and stuff like that um just it's just amazing fridge everything just ready to go I'll take you on the back and show you something real cool this is very new to me this is an induction cooker now what I like about this is they're relatively cheap now this one cost me about 60 bucks now plugs straight into the 240 volt just with the inverter you've got to of course have some pretty fancy 12 volt to get this working but what I like about it is I don't have to worry about gas canisters anymore I get instant heat and even if I've got a big cross Breeze off the ocean like we're getting to it tonight I'm going to get instant induction heat it cooks really quick and really efficiently so I think it's an amazing little thing and it packs down into this tiny little case here I hide it up in the Shelf you never even know it's there so I'll be cooking tonight a few steaks and pieces like that you can't have a fire here in Fraser but you can use this little cooker on here so that's basically on the other side I've got a shower which I haven't fully set up rooftop tent super comfy with lights around it just the little things it just it just works and I'm just stoked I've got to fine tune how I store all my stuff at the moment I've sort of got excited and chucked a whole bunch of stuff everywhere I'll fine-tune that and then I reckon this is just about the best Touring setup you could ever have at least with me anyway [Music] that folks is another Perfect Day on Fraser don't dream 200 for what it was built for as well which um stoked by how that thing's going like obviously you guys did a lot of the work building that thing but it is ready for any track in Australia at least all the ones that don't have uh you know big rocks and stuff in the way that I've got to scratch that shiny paint but it's just a pleasure to camp out of them to do it with you boys mate it just so much fun on the island a couple of great mates and taking this piece for its first drive now I want to share with you guys a couple of the bits and pieces we use to get through this trip now one in particular you know a lot of the guys are complaining about their backs especially Reuben in the old shorty but not me in the big 200 I mean I've got the fulcrum suspension kit under here it's been designed specifically for this 200 and all the weight that I'm carrying as well having good suspension really helps your vehicle perform not just in the outback or up in Cape York but places like Fraser on as well there's lots of sand big ruts corrugations especially on those Inland tracks and to be able to jump into the Falcon website and do a bit of click and fit get that stuff all ordered in your living room to get your full drive running like mine is absolutely unreal now another bit of gear I wouldn't go to Fraser roll without is a set of Max tracks now we've been using the max tracks extremes now we use them quite a lot especially in the gala rocks now without the max tracks I doubt I would have been able to snatch the D-Max plaster trailer up through that soft sand one of those things especially if you're thinking about going fight yourself invest in a set of Max tracks because it makes a huge recovery becomes so much easier and guys finally I want to draw your
