if you're looking for tough tracks insane rock steps bottomless mud holes and great camping then one name comes to mind that's right it's the glasshouse mountains we're in the middle of a weekend adventure with some good mates and right on cue wheels are in the air and things are getting hectic whoa hey felon Oh relax it varies a good bike don't worry about that it's fun that is what I'm not a I'm not a tall man but that is a significant will lift let's play like this all this track and it gets worse up there that's what I love about this place class he asked me out mate where else would you want to be this is next level I've got to go next I know right this is insane I'm a little nervous I'll be I'm sweating in places you don't want to know about buddy all right can we say that every single time never on back there but sit down get something really cold let me strap yourself in because my strips gonna get pretty rock and roll all right let's get him up here oh no I would never clue as we head out for another glasshouse adventure we've called in a favor with one of our favorite locals Jesse this legend knows the tracks out here like the back of his hand and has promised to guide us around some of the best tracks this place has to offer starting off with one of the most iconic well back in the class he asked me out their goods it's Jesse or a copy yeah I got a copy might I know where we're going this is um one of the more serious tracks in the Glass House yeah sure is we're around it's a good fun one part and speaking of little red Sudan how could we forget your performance on big red might you've done that one now welcome to little red but yeah I hope you just find guys to be better than that one big yeah wait till you see the little red it's um it's not that little well I took me a few times we get up the big one and that is it anyway because if this is a bit far to the desert I don't even know what I call it already to be honest you'll see what it's all about pretty soon and a Graham hike you far you know no stranger the glass is right I shouldn't speak I shouldn't say you know what I'm about to say but I will I've had fairly good luck at EMI it's one of those places and it's got lots of hard tracks but it's a little bit forgiving would you say that when you compare it to some of the places like coffs harbour and all the rest of it absolutely made absolutely it is it is but little red like what little red sounds like stone that sounds like a child's fairy tale it's not it's not and Spears box here we go and Sam yeah good maybe start up this morning which is always a good sign and we're ready to tackle whatever you throw at us oh my god I'm really happy about is we've got two at least two capable vehicles in this our convoy what I'm really excited about if I need a spare part mate I'm pretty sure you guys love it it's the name of the game right Spears box will have you covered don't you worry well it's getting me this because I reckon even though we're starting relatively early in the day and I only got a better hunter Mazer dry but I think it could be yep yeah especially at those territories in the group yeah with little red just around the corner it's time to drop down the tyre pressures and with some hectic challenges ahead we're choosing to run some pretty low pressures on this trip jesse is at the head of the convoy and is wheeling and this meant twin locked teenage 42u sean is piloting which well he reckons is one of the best-looking 80s around that's in his words of course shuto from wholesale automatics is behind the wheel of his usual weapon of choice and auto converted gu I'll be steering my weapon of a d-max a 2018 model that goes faster thanks to all that red paint rounding out the convoy is Sam from spares box and his co-pilot / boss Andy and they're at the helm of an 80 series tricked out with products from their own online auto parts store well that'll do it I'm going down a little bit lower than normally the end of that 15 psi I've raised in vain the first track of attack with a little bit of a doozy and I want all the traction I can get more surrounding the beadlock wheels as well which is gonna allow most Isis out of the rim and I could have no drums it might even make up for the fact I'm not running a front Locker so like I said all trucks on ghetto fleet just around the bend the entrance track leading to little red gives a pretty clear indication of the kind of challenges that lie ahead it's not long till we find ourselves at the start of this epic obstacle [Music] here it is my what do you call this little red and there's nothing little about it not actually gets bigger every time like I mean you can't drive up this see that the what I call it little red light it's not little it's not red it's a good track though I've driven it once before but you drive it in a twin locked vehicle wagon yeah it was a Brandon ah wagon sort of thing wasn't it Toyota is it the other one jr. no I did it and took a few guys I had to really pick some uncomfortable lines you commit yeah all right let's get most n around oh yeah all done do I talk about going to start with your hand got that first up the climb of course is Jesse now look he's done this track plenty of times before so if he struggles today here we go we know we're in for a kick of the challenge that one does that okay Jesse's walked up that first rock step it's amazing just how small this track looks when you get a big G you on it oh it made that look real easy alright watching watching now the ever idea is actually one of the harder moves on this track and Jesse's just made that look like it's a walk in the park and he's as cool as a cucumber in there oh that's why Trey's so fantastic in this kind of terrain I think Jesse even noticed that I guarantee I'm not gonna make a move that easy no no he strikes twice which concerns me a little bit yeah hard to imagine thing is Oh Jesse can I'm not to take anything away from us the blight come will we're not eating will he knows that a will and he's done this a million times it's not real well yeah it even goes well one of the guys mostly not though oh yeah yeah Jesse spot me through this what are you saying if you spot um you get spots dude yes it was 13 can we order all right you know that's a vehicle Jesse can spot me as well as Ron I Shawn's a PC now it's Danny's watch Jesse all the way up through here but something tells me things gonna be a little bit different when he jumps in behind the wheel all right little red here we go never done this before in my 80 series and obviously got no front lockup but I'm gonna try and pick a really good line through here and just go take it pretty easy I can always reverse back and have another go it's following the lines in the dust Oh that's not what you need Jesse that's not right that's a big wheel lift I think you need to be over that way a bit more this little section of track really is about pinpoint accuracy and getting your line spot on there really is only one line through here following Jesse's advice Shawn's doing remarkably well [Music] it fell in the hole yeah I'm gonna get back up on that Bank I think oh that's alright just touch the side mirror oh geez might like it those clear view mirrors are tough because I tell you can I go back on that Bank oh I got a plumbing to work out when you're behind the wheel now go back this way a fraction problem we've got here is Shauna is falling in that hole on the driver's side his rear dropping in peeing up the front with no front Locker he's losing all these Drive lobs it will lift how good is this the Flex looks good yeah I bet it does it just seems to like kick up real hard yeah ideally you'd like to be up on that Bank a lot more making this little cart that's what I'm pretty famous for actually making this is a difficult line though I'm gonna do here is try and pack that hole are you getting stuck in reason being if we can get he's really come up on that wall like the front is think you'll destroy it straight up but at the moment that rear is getting hung up so we'll try and build a road I'm still to this day truly a standard sometimes it just how much of a difference a little bit of Road packing or track building can do yeah look at that it was scrambling but we got him up there yeah Edward Zack I'm sweating the hell of a lot for a bike who's just got in the car [Music] and he's up and he's flexed his way through the top part of that challenge really well he might that AZ was a better line that's why there we go yes little red big tick he can hear he's excited can I bring the dog up the hill maybe a kennel dog start the day with a bang they say now in the morning your win the day the Lord if I said it wasn't a little bit anxious now Stu's vehicle is a lot heavier than Shore nose and he has less clearance but he does have the advantage of an auto and front lock that if he doesn't slip here we go I'm good so let's see how he goes hey good Drive good Drive yeah what I had goods that rate' the stood Audis off to a good start if she can't believe her hajj suleman look how easy do you like that look that or what i just on and off the trial really slightly held up in the talking but it's got the power down really finally with a manual by myself jeff and i ran away yeah yeah and although it's almost like another magic button it's a slice the next level almost unstoppable if we could just get someone else in the driver's seat besides shoot we've been spot on door well man don't get steer this way bit yep yeah yep it's sketchy yes how's a good line ah too much three months when we started the head ever so slightly too much up that right hand come to us a bit out come to us so I may want to solve you live come to us a little bit a left hand down like a lot tell you the worth one a recover OS is ridiculously epic it is ridiculously epic might but you are doing a fantastic job at this that auto and that front Locker might you really are making this look easy one thing that GU is not afraid of is wheel lifts it doesn't seem to bother you too much either that's proper wheel lifts yeah crikey mate you're a braver man and my stuff gets a little look just straight up no in that little bit and see where everyone must do it he's got his tonic wine like that's a big hole there's always that way yep little bit of right yep yep yep drive to glory hahaha yes that is impressive that that vehicle I thought is the heaviest I thought that's gonna do the most damage and he drove that boss right up the order alright hurry I want one yeah it's over mate at almost cheating I don't Hummer okay okay big red a little bit of me depth there but we're gonna give it a red hot guy get it red hot big red that looks a lot bigger from here we keep a close eye on Jesse and see what he says d-max here is a little narrower and so I've been able to stay hard against that right-hand bank on this entrance here I haven't picked up a wheel and in fact to be honest with you that was remarkably easy literally left on that bike whoa do a Sunni round honey drop it private yes what yeah good is that oh I'm start to get to hear the rest is a - I'm gonna try and stick to the left see I don't want to be in there hell bar I have to be done now we're gonna try doing exactly the same as we did for Shore no Chuck some logs under and just maybe maybe I can get some traction and drive out of this like not going you're sitting on the sliders it is pivoting the vehicle just don't have the clearance take your sleeves off nice and white I was gonna who needs mates when you're on these trips let me tell you come away with your mates what do you reckon you could try and use more momentum to overcome that clearance issue or maybe back it up more time puts a couple logs under there or something commit it know that noise you can hear right there well that's called next minute CB goes bang I think a safest thing to do here is to get on the end of a win trophy as always it never looks tricky on camera but believe me this really is one of the more technical and tough climbs I've ever done that's it Mike don't overdrive from there okay so I had to jump on the winch there deposit that's not bad for an ifs I'm thirty ones gotta say be read and then I thanks little red tick beautiful well done Mike that is one event if they knew I was playing this tracks in Australia yeah there's on for big rigs you know they max against you so it's basically screw you a bit scared doesn't see one track ease the robbery gotta hand it to every dog is using its tonight oh that was gonna be sup man alright down is pretty well little red a little red come again who now Sam wills a heck of a lot in the water guns and has built this rig for tracks just like this I've got a feeling he'll give this one hell of a red-hot go [Music] have a go that well yes Sam's taken a slightly different line there and I got to say it's remarkably well he's in the hole just between you and me now nice does that truck sound holy heck what a dry Mon he's made that look ridiculously easy dry let's get that second pot down Oh radical bit too much now that's a little too far left he's nearly crawled out a little red [Music] secondary go and again the big flats big tires and the big truck has made that look really really easy weld on myself can tick blue red yes he's excited yeah good drive good drive humming - everybody's Ryan - yeah alright I'll wait on what does it feel like to tackle little red bike you know I've been talking about that one for a long time they up and you've probably done it you take that one off the off-road bucket list I gotta be honest by it when I rolled up what I thought there's just I mean I love the D max I really do but I just thought there's some tracks I'm just not meant to be and I thought that was one of them but it just goes to show over to clear wish wheel placement and better luck ad - which at the top and heck I shouldn't have even been there no exactly right they did remarkably well and the good news is with this track it keeps on givin now obviously you got the big red turned off I was gonna drive it but I thought of running a daylight so I might just continue past that and go out the bypass that's still pretty full-on no I know I reckon you see the crack willow wait a bunny it's alright at the bottom and let you have a go all jokes aside big red here's one of the more hardcore four-wheel-drive challenges in Australia and it's not to be taken lightly so we're decide to check this one out on to walk up this thing this is insane this is the start of it right so this this is big red big red and probably one of the most significant tracks of consequence in Australia yep I've only ever seen two people have a go at it both ended on their lead Jessie screaming this is driven up so what's our excuse get along in the day normally shorter just it's a bit up there that really know yet I think you need the abseiling gear then you get out there I don't know I might I just think to myself I come out to these places like this here I really want to do a challenging track you know this has been done about some times before I'm not really well it's just guy the bypass say exactly what I need to say do the track less travel yeah I agree so yeah big red pretty cool to check it out though yeah you see have a look at this well here this is the bypass tract around big red there's the flexaway through here and then there's the lift your wheel way through here I know which one's more fun the bypass track around big red has plenty of challenges in its own right and we're soon tackling another decent rugged climb Jean eyes up first and he's gonna flicks his way through to the stop oh here we go here's the tough bit having out this section here well yet this is super committing in the big problem we've got the rock step on the right hand side can do kick have a lot of panel damage so see how Shantay goes here Shawna's taken a textbook line here is actually using side of that tire to get grip on the rock where most people would try and get straight onto it you can see it working so well there we go steer that thing around [Music] okie-dokie Stu's up and something tells me this is gonna be something to watch by fast track amazing what we bypass is I'll give you a hundred percent odds on that she will lift a wheel through here left like Oh strewth now will lifters literally Sandy's canopy into the bank holy that is sketchy is that what's going okay he's off that Bank now and he's squirting that up to take a slightly different lightness Sean oh but at the same time trying to straddle that rut completely laughs truth it hasn't worked out and he's passenger rear has fallen right in that right causing him to get an alarming wheel lift that's a big wheel if night it'll pop down an asset in your seat or get a little bit worse before it gets better but you'll be right sure that is not something you want to hear when you're in that situation right big wheel if that's that's one of the biggest ones I've ever seen well series just a tiny bit over that side which means that doing these ones big feet what's gonna happen I think you drive it that's right anymore gonna end up on your lid probably about that much oh that's all gonna take a couple of inches I got our hero out here without hardly lift in the car you feel pretty comfortable yeah we're gonna have to reposition Stu here and see if we can have another crack better right in there get go left be more bored short-eyes up down orders but this really is a team epoch you can see Jessie down the back right just making sure that whatever is happening down there is it gonna cost panel damage and I'm at the front as well just keeping a close eye on that front quarter this is all about teamwork right India that's it [Music] boss - before you had then night lips reverse it down and have another crack hang on Tucker rocky and here I can not see Holly this is another classic example of way to get that a little bit of track building up and my gosh huge difference inside that's exactly what we're gonna do you would add that can you crawl can you crawl a little bit on that let's crawl slightly yeah yeah and go go go yeah that's how we do it well done boys stop live rocked in the right spot and it's up to commit to that a little bit I cannot believe that I would have bet she was gonna have to winch there but he's proving me wrong what a drive okay it's my turn now put this down in case the boys can you eat your voice everything looks bigger from here I've got a lot less clearance than everyone else here so getting hung up is probably gonna be my biggest hindrance but if I can pick a good line I've got this also when Lester yeah as you can see it worked a treat I've just taken a knife s on thirty ones up an incredibly difficult obstacle stoughton tell me when it stopped I'll tell you when to stop last up Sam and Andy the boys are not gonna hold back on this one oh yeah oh wait he's well positioned for this rock step [Music] they fell on the throttle tell you what that one spirited drive after an awesome day on the tracks and with the light getting long it's time to head out for our next appointment what do you say we thought I'd make a dash for cab right I've got a little sneaky spot if you can yeah and you for this one I gotta go back to it mate I am I looked up on that you camp website again and there's a really nice bike got a big property it's got a bit of a Billabong on it and there's a spot down there plenty of firewood absolute cracker might might I made a fire to cook tonight so that sounds good lead on gang it in this little camp we found is a gem of a spot a few minutes away from the tracks and at the back of a local horse farm now I don't want to give away too many secrets but I reckon if you follow your nose you'll find this place too [Music] [Music] [Music] we don't waste any time and getting camp set up and soon start for a quick well refreshment and to psych ourselves up for short Oh stalking I wonder what he's got in store for us tonight oh yeah this for a perfect little campsite just outside the glasshouse mountains now the sort of day when you draw a little red you need a meal that's gonna do justice to the tracks you sort of drive and that's why I'm gonna go all out tonight that's it I'm gonna go full gourmet I'm talking three-course meal so follow me for the first course Brian first course up mate that was quick you need to start a cooking I don't we got you go don't every my boy of course very important stage so don't get this wrong all right so that's a first course change back to you for that nice and easy one in chef school I was taught timing is everything preparations a fair bit of a tone up to the cooking part school yeah where I went to chef school you don't just learn this stuff mate you get taught from like a list of French chefs pastry chef inside sewing the ribbon from the old pastry repertoire you do sausage rolls sausage rolls automatic we're important some key ingredients one of the first things that I kept this one right down the back what are you gonna do mini I've got the old puff pastry and you notice I got the light puff pastry and then any old saucy drugs you know me I don't do it well you're not gonna do it don't bother book we've got premium quality Australian land people yeah I got this from my local Quincy and butcher this here is also lamb meat but it's the old lamb sausage meat the reason I'm using that are passage means to the to the premium mix is because that sausage means we've got a fair bit of fat in it so I don't like I bought with a fat but I just I need time in there so you know chop a couple ways up nice and fine got a few few carrot see right it's one of the great those what's the onion good carrots gonna say I've never done it for Graham kinda Troy Chuck that straight in your swag sorry about that sin or good I'm pretty clean hands so what you want to do now just I'm gonna actually have to clean them off yes thank you that's a good job there might anyway the median age making more and so your sausage minister is a normal mean the way to do that there's no other way you just got to get right in there they're gonna make at some point so when I was in in pastry school and we're doing the sausage roll course it's like a like a advance ticket you always make a well in the middle there to put the eggs straight yep right in the guts and you just want to crunch that in why that's actually playing things up sorry boys shouldn't be watch you don't watch a chef anyway it on that block the onion let's put the egg well here just yeah yeah mix that I'm gonna mix mix that in and also I got some spices here so you know crack a bit of pepper oh yes yes the lamb says need a roast lamb says like normally oh that's a bit yeah you're right you're right you're right you're right in Tabasco yeah a little bit of that if you could we could tell you what I'll do here as well I might ping the holes so you can get the juices right in there that's it right from a distance that's good now I'm gonna fold it back together yeah another pastry term this is sort of thing you can do though realistically you're getting a can of a bit like you're gonna get a big fire because you do this is everything you do very quick easily grab a bit of yep we're gonna tuck the little nike5 you could put our foil but if I had that in the back there that's better clear absorbs up a little bit better what I'm gonna do is basically proceed to make the roll so I basically just making us off these real easy sort of stuff so you got the pastry out now I have a go this folks this is um this is beautiful this is I like to call I'd like to call art culinary art Mike what we're gonna do now is wrap this one up you wrap him up in the old pastry what about we put a bit of cheese in me now laughs way through the old recipe yep know what it sounds like a plan yep there you go so it's like that on there you know whack that's right on there how there's a B at the same size all right get your next sausage go all right you do that and basically for a pate there you go that's good why did you get a reduction line going folks you can knock you out a fair few of these here look at that you can tell well that's gonna be that's a sausage roll it's smelly you know it's funny because it smells like a sausage roll you're all a bit of room beside them as well because that the puffs place you'll do exactly that little puff up so the last little tip of course when you do anything with pastry crack an egg and just give it a little wash around on the top cuz it'll make the pastry nice and golden-brown you got something to wash it with wash it with like ya mates called the old paintbrush over here okay so okay is just to whip that up sometimes use a fork whatever spices on it or a whisk even if you just rub that in basically have a look at that bud they are sensational if you want if we school them just I think yeah actually there you're right oh my that's what you want to do you want to score the tops because then they know that they're not from your serve I put that lid back on there don't know Chuck this one of the Carl's 20 minutes or so get the old puff pastry nice and brown so not too hot but not too cold grab this one chips you saw the fire [Music] smells good at his hype it looks good we got pints I got a couple fighters gonna do is cut them up and you donate toxic dolls formerly might actually get really really good oh man yes a lot of works yeah sausage rolls in a camp Island boys come on up let's face it for a three-course meal this is not bad hang on hang on we had a bf of course one this is course - oh you got sweets sick that dumb jump in there Mike grab another couple on Jack's it cuz that's dessert Oh grab a sausage roll oh man I have good hair good there you go what do you reckon boys all right load of Sosa draws / wake induces at the top of the Scout that is actually one of the better sausage rolls I've ever had in my life I'm not rolling through some little country stores in the middle and I wouldn't do home cooked sausage roll this is the best sausage I've ever had yes baby Jesus that lived what do you reckon boys all right there's laughs guess grounds laughing wraps on this ski plane but it I might have been other than eating this for my flight you cooked over here foods good doesn't it well maybe a couch I mean it's been a long another night is long sauces and how to go that one that's a big scary entry it's got a bit of scary it's get a bit of scary amongst it'll never don't you inchi yet yeah gotta cross over that horrible oh yeah it's a good track should be good sighing the glass he has it gonna be full alongside how'd you mean first up weight not gonna get this into me where's the boys don't you know what I want you guys with some grace in the tank we jumping convoy and make the short run back to the tracks if there's one thing that heralds hard tracks in the glasshouse mountains well it's the site of those big power lines and sure enough we're soon into it a little bit of mud getting them up second low and go-go-go we're going to sell us a classic glass house bog hole now you never really know the depths of these things like how about poking a few spots of a stick seems a little bit boggy I've convinced Jesse that's okay though and the good news is he's going first so we'll see how he goes it could be anything through here it's bit sloppy on the surface but it should be alright he'll be alright is it a Nissen doesn't matter anyway does it jesse is looking a bit tense and I blame him while that is soft my nice one you okay let's often I expected boys and um we're not next that sucks I get the recovery gear ready hold on the art but I saw Jesse I won't use the word struggle but he knew I only just made it out of here and he's in a big G you sure I was in an 80 series so his chances are pretty slim going in so as you can see I've already got the recovery gear go and yeah I was greedy to drag him out when you get stuck about there that's what my stood all right got the winch rope in I've got the winch just up on the UHF aerial there so I'm ready if I do get bogged it'll be hopefully pretty quick to get me out so ii get really locker on drive it like your style when you get a load of the suit coming out of that thing but he's got through hey that smells that was fun Stu's up next bud not enough momentum no yep he's beached art is sitting in a soup but if I smell anyone to get stuck into at least might get halfway buddy will jump on the recovery gear and soon enough all of you man poor winching and she can might well we saw there is true go over to real I go but didn't quite make it probably like a clearance and like if Toyota badge probably stopped him halfway through that oricon if I know Graham he's going to try anything to get a little bit further than Stu's that means we're gonna see a little bit of fireworks he's gonna give it the everything sit back and watch this all right here we go I guess yeah I just got to get further than the old suit off get one back on Oregon yes yes we're champions my friend that was that that was the ticket though the softer speech was Dart and no one passed that memo on his new dog I think so what life mate the softest part is always at the start Sam see now it's done now it looks like he's not hanging around [Music] voila exactly right like typical glass house for girls and the best thing about of course is um you made it didn't you oh yeah I definitely made it yes you made it yeah pizza box ain't it up yep pseudo all right unlucky mate what does that mean usually that kind of me carton of beer was its first ball a little trip Carnaby yeah fair enough sir all right Mike just on Jack whenever you're ready full strength or me it's up to you but alone when someone gets stuck oh well just go through that mud puddle and all my lights on the dash are sort of flickering like a Christmas tree and it usually means one thing and my alternator is cactus and I've had this happen a few times in the ID it's a pretty common thing yeah it seemed you got a copy mate yeah mate you wouldn't believe it though that water crossing we just did that mud hole more my lights a flash I might I think the alkyne is stuffed I need you guys to make a phone call if you can't even you up line up classic 80 series I've been in your position before mate yeah that's no problems we'll just pull up up here or make a phone call we'll get you back that's a guy my Otsego should I've just not battery powder to keep that French going so all right we'll pipe here and if you can order one let it be tops Nick what's that with some mud decoration on the rigs it's time now to get a start on PO Chi Minh Trail you see this track is hidden away deep in the forests to the bottom of a valley and as they say what goes down and must come up and in this case extremely steeply we're sitting on one of those steep climbs that the cameras just don't do justice to but seeing a photographer Shoei trying to walk down it might give you some idea oh yeah this is a really really steep bit of truck and the kicker is that's got a tree root hanging out there right near the top right so you know probably lift a toy up you make it that's actually a lot more sketchy than it looks well does that look at this hill it's quite possibly to see for some little I'll ever coin don't take this joke [Music] oh they're gonna hit that tree with great speed and equipment this isn't precision driving steward Shawn have made this look pretty easy let's see how the d-max goes like right here number one problem I had here was simply a lack of momentum that feels horrible beam all right boat and I'll make this no drivers hey is that a gala [Music] Sam's had exactly the same problem and geez we listen to those breaks this is seriously steep but I thought I could crawl in but funny perhaps so I don't want to find them because I need to steer Oh almost my all right here we go third time's a charm oh I better get this back on to charge you know one thing you'll notice about my 12-volt setup he's I've always got my inverter rolling because I use power tools a fair bit gotta keep in charge the red arc mm what pure sine wave inverter is nearly turned on the whole time we have huge charging demands and without it well the show wouldn't go on now it turns out that this challenge is just a taster of what lies up ahead we've got a huge stretch of big rocks and deep ruts this is a gnarly gnarly little track no Sean hasn't even gotten to the start of the climb before he ditch that hard you can't track bill till you get on the track Lou this yeah Loudmouth over he hasn't tried it yet all right we're nearly at the side of the track here and the track building begins just a little right now it's an easy drive to the top nice work Mike that was an intimidating little obstacle there we go well that is a hill a consequence I actually am surprised how far we got but um big tires big lift lots of suspension travel shootout on the other hand so yeah we guys done a lot he surprised me so far I can he's got a shot of this oh it's really not there you got as Stu approaches the bottom of the same climb it looks like he's falling into the very same rut that Sean IDP damn fun that's it it's gonna come the end yes well this is so much fun and that was here I don't alarm you because we're all crossed up in front a climber banquettes but wheels are in the air like the d-max you've got to straddle this and then basically is down or up the pit right through here before us to cross over again hopefully I'm gonna say that new line has worked absolutely fantastically and I've made it past where the other blokes got stuck nap as far as I'm concerned is an absolute winner it just a bit narrower than ever yeah I thought that I mean the problem yeah a little bit right on down and back about a couple of red-hot goes with this right here but if I put down harder I'm gonna do damage and that's the last thing I want to do in a precarious situation like this problem here is that the d-max a lot narrower than a cruiser or patrol and this truck widens up as against at this point so he's actually fallen into the rut which is worth face to be we're just trying to figure out a way to winching which is going to be the easiest Jessie's got an idea we're just going to basically trying getting the car in the rut without there any panel damage and then we'll win team up I think that'll work situations like this are exactly why we install a winch in the first place my dominator X's had a couple of days to get me out here we've had to reset a couple of times but finally I'm up and I'm out and I'm unscathed and that we're coming out here and tackling these tough tracks is all about nothing to it Oh Sam's up next Andy reckons he's keen to not use the winch reckon Twin Rocks from the get-go to the side are in Jesse dude and epic Chavez spotting you through that bottom section not to take anything away from you might was a good draw let's say you go with the rest of it [Music] unfortunately he's fallen in the rut right there and this is gonna make for one tricky drive ahead well if what a heavy moment and that was a good drive slime and this real sly no heavy brake and a heavy accelerating gonna be breaking and a9 heavy accelerating and I think you better waiter then that's it that's it it's like this like that's that all Sam I hope Spears box sell spare seat covers cuz you're gonna need to by the end of this track that line it up I'm saying some committee lines and some committing drives on this trip that one takes the kite Sam Andy hats off to you boys one heck of a draw yeah get on up haha yes what he put it there I'm real well how good was that ho Chi Minh in the glasshouse mountains and we had vehicles of all different calibers 431 inched Isis 35 s you know mildly water fluoride to almost family tourists sort of rigged and getting your mates yeah picking the right lines chucking a few rocks in holes jump it on the winch when you need to that's not full the drawings all about super fun and really enjoyable I'm gonna speak for the boys I don't get it's beer o'clock wander York and boys beer o'clock always this might well come on it's been an absolutely epic guy on the track end well it's past time to head to camp to roll out the swags but up ahead we encounter another fall driver who's gotten me to a spot of bother in a boggle well we're just on the way to camp and young girl on the side of the road just waving us down boyfriend's got a bit stuck so I thought would pull them out before we hit the camp he's not that badly suck so quick snatch and he'll be on his way through a snack strap is a great bit of kit to keep in the fobian makes light work and recoveries just like this one here Sean hitches him up to the back of and just like that he's ready to recover hold on your horn when you're ready it really is as simple as that nice and stuck by yourself never a good feeling especially without a winch got a dollar for every time I've been stuck oh yeah good deed done for the day gonna off the camp near bite and we'll have a couple of cold ones sit around the fire the way to spend a day put on your buddy at Punto looks like you have a bit of time I'm playing and that we've another recovery under the belt there's definitely a thirst brewing among that convoy and I'd be lying if I didn't say there's a bit of a race to get to camp to set up and be the first to crack open the fridge [Music] with the right accessories camping is not only comfortable but it's easy to set up and soon we've got a couple iron jacks in hand and a good fire goin and with that another great day in the Glass House comes to a close never better we're gonna get to do it all again tomorrow cheers boys it's as good as it gets [Music] [Music] overnight we've had a bit of rain passed through the mountains which should make conditions on the track today pretty darn interesting it's not enough to wash off the signs of yesterday's battle on the track on the tracks however which are definitely showing the signs of some hard use [Music] or might need to sleep but yeah real good real good even put a new shirt on today so look you know by the way lining everything to use now in Australia I like that but daddy for that what's your plan I think I might start the hard facts Mia are you reckon getting to him yeah we've been knocking around too long at the classy be honest we all reckon I'm gonna get one of spares box boys have come through with the goods before we ate the tracks today I just want to change that alternator over now as you remember I had a alternator from day one and I think that mud on the first day really got into that all day to stuff things up so of course spares box got on the BLA organise a brand new alternator and which I can't believe the turnaround mate look that that's it no time at all from busted alternator to a new one at the campsite that's what it's all about get you back on the tracks quicker quick dispatch some guys back in Sydney really on it I've got this delivered just up the road and get you back singing the notes on a like that mate because the probably the big problem is right once that old ladder goes as you know I'll lose power to the back what's in the back the fridge fridge goes not so cold we can't have that happen so mate I thank you for that company's emergency for me all right can we jump on the tools you get this quickly swap totally so we can get on the tracks and I'll be out a charge again here goods that you grab a spanner Mike we'll need that for the with the new old matter in we're ready to head out to tackle today sir have of tracks there's those power lines ago so I think I can guess what jesse has got in store for us boys a new day on the tracks new alternator and the new me all those things are good make all those things have good I'll super pumped to be back out here what do you reckon Jesse what's the plan for the day mode plans been a while since been on that track stir you ready for another day of excitement Mike the way you will the last couple of days I don't think anything will faze you anymore and I think I didn't email it no on these fine which won't give them on green what's gone yeah even things on the ground like yesterday's will lift was nothing short of absolutely amazing I've never said I hate evict a wheel so high let's see if you can bake that today I don't be the fine balance between our do it myself and not putting it on its lid now you drive that thing like a weapon yesterday might and I'm sure so I'll be no different we get into it our first challenge of the day is a short section of rock steps leading off the main track Jesse's up first and as usual makes it look easy Sean eyes up and he's gonna follow Jesse's line here I reckon that top lip is what's gonna give him the trouble see I think this one's gonna look a lot more difficult than it really is I think if you just get that line right you're gonna walk up here like Jessie did get it wrong then you'll probably make it look really ugly that's what I come into play [Music] [Music] I've been tongue out and everything for that one there's a lot of concentration I'll get my game face on sometimes I don't doing technique of little bits yeah well I'm a little step of the throttle at the end got you to the top Oh on the shadows oh who as you can see Stu's got a little less clearance there whose bottom down these chassis go left and that's it straight up it's rare that camera angles corks steep but we've nailed it in this instance check that out with Oh never adult live it stews lined up for a different approach here and as you can see he's made a south up and over that lip is your OSU good spot right okay my turn in the D max now clearance is 100% going to be my problem here let's give this a go you might look a bit awkward here but I'm actually trying to pick the highest line that I possibly can and stay out of the rut yes I've got my front up I'm in with the chance here yeah holy heck I'll manage to do it rod as you can see from the look of my face you never celebrate early because safety never takes a holiday god I Sam you've seen how I do it let's see what you've got Sam and Andy did you even notice there was a hill there good Drive boys beauty no doubt about it the glasshouse mountains has some really tough tracks pneumatically gonna find a lot of rocks water ruts and usually together now you'll ideally want to tie with quite aggressive sidewalls ladies general grab at x-rays and you can actually see where I've been driving on these side walls a lot of the time I'll be driving along the side or a rut and I can't sleepy and that's why I need all the traction I can get not just down at the top of the tire but also out of the side wall to get it wrong you'll slip right in and probably cause some significant panel damage and get it right well you'll drive right to the top and you'll drive the whole way and counter all your mates hopefully yeah goods that after that warm up OS soon at the bottom of the next big climb and this track well it's an absolute doozy what it calls Jessie look at this site what it oh yeah and I it's alright I've got this yeah you'll feel this I got this I think we'll have to hug the left boys oh sure tons of traction right age the tracks they say insane stuff yeah usually really good for traction got idle up at this bit does without a vehicle I get some recovery gear for this so hands on the wheel for beginners oh god no listen slideshow I take on that left-hand Bank which is the safest line to take because the entire track is off camber to the left so the worst case scenario you're gonna fall onto that Bank go up we go not there though are we he's done well he's bounced himself at the top with his tongue out my lungs out a lot of concentration but we got there that's my full would drive face in case you're wondering well sure I made that look easy I think she will to double-locked depending on what line he takes if he comes up here it could get very sketchy we'll see how we go appalling through I'll straight shoot what are you doing night that's really uncomfortable today yeah now that's worse is everybody yeah Oh God sign me up for me let's not get any better hey what are you doing in there my student has barely even hit the bottom of the climb before he's got the wheels in the air and he's on a nollie angle just as I control here and has gently guided him back and down on before wheels but he's still got to get across that rot which means another wheel in the air come on mate you can do it that was my shoe with that anyway right you can take on the main section come on up you come you can see that ledge at the bottom is just catching him out there [Music] once Jerid I was gonna take the exact same lawn and show now and hug that left hand bank that's it [Music] drive it yeah that's it up on that Bank there's no double lockers in an auto and as you can see that's it only gone up made it look easy that's it yeah boss monster - what is that what a slow control drive this is different Auto manual you see makeup off and on the photo a little bit and try and be real smooth [Music] well hug that Bank Tirana hand and he left plant less less less full Oakland overland well I shouldn't talk to her soon about suit I've I've been caught out in that exact same rut at the bottom of the hill [Music] [Music] [Laughter] left whatever has got me out and up which do you got stuck so it's on to the final section this bit will be interesting I was pretty stoked for this driver so close to the top and I try I give it a final plant up the hill but it was just too steep the clearance was an issue I'm gonna lean on the Dominator X to get me to the top [Music] IFS thirty ones so close but I'm up and I'm pretty stoked with that Sam's up next and something tells me you're not gonna mess around you look at that wheels in the air a lot of flex left-hand aligned straight up that Bank it's like he does it every day [Music] the top the top is light at the end of this tunnel good work boys ah do you feel entire heel and tire that's the key get that turtle sand good then you're doing it I'll tell you what the old gamma-x winch has saved my bacon plenty of times in the Glass House over the last few years a couple of tips that I always try and use whenever i'm winching and of course first and foremost safety never takes a holiday your winch rope whatever length you've got out always stay that far away from the whole winching operation never shock loads you'll winch what I mean by that is don't let the vehicle roll back when you have gained some ground and shock load the Rope can break the winch snap the rope at worst you do not want to roll backwards in which situation of course when you finish winching for the day always risa pull your winch rope nice and neatly especially if you haven't been winching in a dead straight line because it'll roll over the top of itself and get snagged up and lastly folks one of the big problems I always hear from people that don't use their winch very often we use ours just about every day those folks that only use them once or twice a year they go to use it the winch won't work the way to overcome that or one of the ways to try and prevent it is use your winch more often every time you wash your four-wheel-drive run your winch rope out I don't know attach it to an old battery an old toy you've got liner out and just spool that rope back in again that heats it up gets the moisture out of it and just keeps it running and that way when you need it the most your winch will be there [Music] one of the great things about the glasshouse mountains isn't the challenges and never far apart so it wasn't long before we were onto another cracker well this is the old lockers Hill big rats big rock steps she stages off camber few holes that have never seen a lot of day on this thing and I ain't planning to get Bantam to find out what's going on so we're gonna do this single file sitting guess he up first he's done this a few times but primarily he only comes down it directly doesn't crop it too many times so be a bit of a test for him too something tells me is gonna eat it I'm gonna watch what he does though I'm following up I'll call him up now yeah we go hey Coby Coby well I might on you Jesse's up first here and he's got to actually cross over this rough but I don't know if you're even going to notice it in that place to a GU of this [Music] yeah good work Jessie's good work interesting line interesting line committing oh he's fallen in colonies guess again well there you go that's what big lifts big tires big trucks do they sort of pick align it doesn't work that let's cross over the mountain and go up another line cheating cheating speaking of cheaters sure I copy well Jesse just did some impressive driving there mate now we've seen how to do it I'd like to throw personally wouldn't have anything else Stew's taking a slightly different line here up that left bank gently gently slowly slowly well be careful be careful mate slow down all right take your time and think about the line Oh safety goes that's a naughty little piece of track okay my turn I want to do this I'm committed doing good bye settle down cowboy yeah I thought I was gonna get hung up there got a go a bit more into that side night like everyone else I've got hung up on that right in line so I'm gonna reverse back a fairway here to line myself up to tackle the left-hand line that's to talk [Music] I'm and to give it a favor to write put it but I think I've got this I think I've got it coming up this one no I'm not yes I am yes no the d-max forget he wins for the fastest speed trial up this mountain but I was one heck of a ride how can you ever lose care what I done yeah don't you got to drive one in a weekend you can drive one you're winning that was yours right that was mine you like that brother you get off on your own stay but keep it fast pass away mater wasn't stopping Sam and Andy have got their game faces on but they barely got started before they hit a snag you say the big ID has gotten the Biff pumpkins stuck in a rut boys have to jump on the winch what's your explanation there bud what happened Sam come on I thought we were a team buddy I be so I get stuck it's really on it but dry yeah well part night [Applause] the problem here is I fell into the hole now the hole when you've got your training wheels on I'm at 35 those tires and this hole was just swallowed them so yeah that's a doozy right if I go left hand down here mr. now I have a look at him is dust and ribs gallon through the roof good draw-off saying that was the perfect lawn with just the right amount of Bounce I like it hey co-op night good Drive let me get both to the bottom but always [Music] what will driving is going to throw up a whole heap of different terrains province and mud rocks and ruts key to driving ruts of course well in my experience let's try and stay out of them stay high pick a high line look for those edges of the ruts that you can get up on and straddle the holes before Linda the ruts of course you stand a chance of getting hung up or at worst doing a Hollywood panel damage I'm a firm believer in the world of four-wheel driving of using what you've got to your advantage I've got smaller tires in the d-max but proofs in the pudding you've seen me drive some of these big ruts other trucks have struggled on it's because I'm picking really good lines I'm keeping my truck out of the ruts straddling when I can yeah yeah so folks don't let anyone tell you you can't drive some of the hottest tracks in Australia use your technique to your advantage straddle erupts get out of them and you can follow your mostest about anywhere well look I think you'd have to agree this has been one heck of a way to spend a long weekend but unfortunately the time has come to this invention to be drawn to a close well there you go a couple of days in the glasshouse mountains Jesse that was some rad tracks mate a couple hope you got driven with a bore have you had time to joke might I had a great time and I guess I'll tell you even at a better time eight why mates to behind me shoot up you've loved the W mate might be great how good's not going like you've you put the wind up me and you've um driven so amazing tracks on this trip you should be proud of yourself now we push the limit but I certainly haven't ruled out help oops I'll tell you it didn't help my crime we got a copy my guy I think you're the d-max up little red you must be pretty happy but I'd like to move another bloke that's taking the d-max up a tracks that we did this weekend I think I'd be the only one in Australia I reckon you'd agree you know to make like you didn't use a winch a couple of little places but I knew that clear it's got the better of gun nothing bit with the drive now pretty pre a little worried about this this go through I'm scared to know breakages there's a couple of scratches on the left hand side but that's alright I'll buff that but otherwise right off taking it through where some of the bigger tracks struggled so pretty stoked yeah there's even a couple of times might you drive which you might reach so that's a bit embarrassing when you round 35 that's for sure all the day's work they make bloody good fun spares box you boys I tell you what you've got a couple scary moments just a couple you learn to wipe your ties in here nearly I was gonna say nearly as I stood on but I think he does take the title you bikes have to be happy with you drives right right anytime I can get out of the office twin lock set that up there me being up I'm pretty excited and when you got the boss sit in the passenger seat next to you mate the pressure is on I gotta show em I can drive as good as I can talk sure I still working on that bit it's important at the final word and with that we park up with a spectacular backdrop of the glasshouse mountains behind us there's just one more item to tick off the list and that's to get a photo of the four B's in front of now pol this thing's widest there mate they signify one thing 80 series but that's not what I was talking about not alright looking there's something far more iconic the glass has mass this is what was that man I mean he's he's only putty leaves eatin I'll tell you the tracks today Jesse I've never seen him before big red a little red I've seen it before never driven it the rest of it virgin territories money alright we're gonna go into a couple more tracks it's only three o'clock we gotta go to the pub just yet fight for traction on youtubes free you don't get anything in life are free no mate that you'll get to see you're all mine yep boy monkey and these boys are thinking we doing this again yep every time all the time on stick around cuz coming up is something you don't want to miss that's right I'm talking my favorite part the four-wheel drive action outtakes there is no doubt about it the glass ask me on some of the toughest tracks and certainly is the most fun you'll do anywhere in Australia a real tough one from little red all all the famous what you get hochi mean fantastic absolute top time but I thought I'd take a second now because you're some of the products that really help us do these trips and especially on hard trips I reckon um mommy will walkie tools might you saw me had a little drum with the alternator but I usually have mechanic only shoes most trips and those meal walkie tools the idæan bolt impact driver in particular they get us out of strife and I wouldn't leave home without a violist hashtag Toyota life I'd like to give a big shout out to the boys from spares box because if it wasn't for them I don't reckon even a made this trip I would have still been out in the woods know I would have yeah asked a revenge you might have still be out in the bush so we're yeah we go the boys a quick caught they were able to get an odd night of you they actually brought it out to us which is a bit special that doesn't always happen of course but I've got very very quick delivery times depending on where you are in Australia so I reckon might we will keep the spares box boys my three dogs but they're no much in my phone that but yeah big thanks to the boys from spares box notice any scratches on this no matter that's because I've got the Raptor coating now this isn't typical painters as a proper Raptor coating so I've got obviously on the bar work I've got the thicker coarse black wrapped up but I've actually use a tinted wrapped up on the body and the cool thing about this eight leaders did this whole vehicle from go to I so that's a really cheap way it's a sprayer vehicle especially a four-wheel-drive anything using your full wheel drive for the tough stuff out in the bush I reckon you can't go wrong with your application so bit tough and durable especially if they drive like you might now when you're out in the bush specially glass place like this a lot of mud a little dirt look at us we're moving actually I'm black actually hide here look at you for goodness sake so black taxi covers I've got those well especially on the d-max because it's only just clipped over a few kilometers it's brand spanking new and it's nice to keep those seats looking pristine you can't keep me looking pristine but you can't keep your seat covers looking pristine without the old black ducks and I've got their new ones which is the the new black fabric they've got that denim yeah I've got them in the in the ideas well actually got new straddle states in there yep first thing I did was on some black duck ones on there because I want to keep those safe something good and the one thing you'll notice on this trip we didn't actually have a camera vehicle now the camera crew on this trip right with us which means all their batteries all of their drone batteries for the big camera ones the eight GoPros we have the hair drives the air dries all had to be charged off my 12-volt system so to keep my 12-volt system in check I've got a red arc I've got a major 30 BC DC which is I reckon it is the absolute bomb we've got two batteries in the back there and my system never got below 70 percent batteries the good thing about the manager 30 30 amps of charge goes back in those batteries so every time that the vehicle on is just pumping heaps of charging and really safely - so I get the most life out of my batteries you know I've always run the red out gear but the manager thirty holy egg that's one heck of a system now one thing about the glasshouse folks it's not a matter of if you're gonna get stuck yep yeah you're gonna get stuck out here there's no question about it and I had a fairly busy once or twice about to say a big thanks to Adventure Kings because without them I'd still be on Hajj immediately that was a tough track cut to the top but it wasn't without a favor to hardcore long long winches about the old Dominator x-wings from Adventure Kings we'd still be out on the tracks they've saved their bacon a heck of a lot of times so yeah that's our we have got through just well the skin of our teeth but us ask mountains hope you enjoy the episode see if the next one better than your clap laid over there no honest point from Mike but
