THREE 4WDs BOGGED AT ONCE! Bush to Beach hardcore weekender!

mistake my a villain so so steep man I don't think I've seen your vehicle anything quite like this before it may be gunshot the other way this is this is gnarly proper proper steep now folks we are on our way north ultimately gonna end up at coffs harbor but we've sort of not given ourselves a goal but a bit of a challenge to drive as many of these tracks as he possibly can between Newcastle and Kosova this one is proving to be an absolute doozy so me you ready gonna do half a colleague's might like something tells me this is going a lot of the toughest trips we've ever undertaken because as we know it costs all that mid New South Wales coast he's just full tracks like this and if I get into any steeper angles I don't get it's all over for me I don't know you gonna start that vehicle I suggest folks you do like he's doing get comfortable in a chair and lay back grab yourself a drink let's see if we can get him up this hill you're right you're good to go I don't know do you slippery so pedal spotter like I raised the key the mid-north coast of New South Wales it's an absolute mecca for us for new drivers [Music] why we're here though with a special mission and that's to put together the ultimate four-wheel drive road we're gonna be hitting tough tracks spectacular beaches and great camping as we head up the coast classic road trip means iconic tracks and that's why we've started right here in the whatta guns with a one thing you can be sure of is that things are gonna get wild I grab your copy mate surely but since we're in this neck of the woods I reckon we should missus over there on five attracts like the walleyes or what eyes this is the homophobe driving is part of the world exactly right pretty reckon or some other one of my all-time favorites I love the fact that you actually drive through the middle of a rock it's insane track yeah I reckon I'll be right on the limits and stu-dog nobody thinks any thoughts mate well I'm used to pushing the limits mate you know on a slide oh hang on tight because I think this is a turn-off right here take one last look at your canopy doors mate what again and just like that cut Rock Road is up ahead this track might be short but it packs in one heck of a lot of challenges including that infamous canopy banging cut in the rock and some pretty wild rock steps to finish with that in mind it's time to drop those tire pressures for me knowing this track well I'm going straight down to 18 psi and I'd suggest to yourselves that's a very good starting point we've got some pretty capable rigs in this convoy starting of course with my mate Shaw knows 80 series now this bad boy is twin locked on 35s with a host of performance and camping mods that make it well pretty damn capable despite the driver okay representing the IFS field is my eyes ooh d-max we shall set up two combined touring and some tougher driving and I reckon we'll give the bigger trucks a decent run for their money joining us on this trip is true from wholesale automatics driving his trusty GU patrol a twin la cute on 33s with their famous auto converted transmission along with other performance accessories with pressure sorted it's time to get into it remember this this is a very very challenging little track just super technical oh this is tight boys I might even get a spot here the challenges on cut Rock Road start right out of the gate and this right here is a super tight squeeze between two trees which will put your four B panels on the line don't hit that tree and don't hit that tree you got this with that useful advice on line suti up for the gap gone there's a big tree there what are you doing you going up the Train yep oh so close and yep that is time there's just millimeters in this yeah get pump off in a little bit to the right even the d-max which is narrower finally you could see what's up there they react bearing the scars of old cart wheel ruts cut rock is a doozy of a challenge and it's claimed its fair share of victims Wow this is the beauty of the wat against the main road is just here we've literally driven hundred meters cut off look at this thing here now I reckon Sean's gonna climb up this get stuck up there see how he goes the big rock step proper committing Lobster [Music] [Applause] nice one mate that's an impressive Drive but up ahead is where things get nasty no need a spot sorry it looks really tight yeah it is I will probably at the bar work on that rock and probably come very close that tree luckily it's only a day later I reckon both of you are gonna have your work cut out to not touch these rocks I think you are well let's send the test dummy through and see how he goes righto all right well if I don't hit a rock or a tree I'm doing bloody well that's a fun challenge no kidding Mike this is a pretty hectic little cutting it's not a lot in it it is not much in it oh shut up that was you God sorry I was going so well it's still owned now worried might it's only a god not a panel we're still on track Oh Starly boy what's made a lot wrongiy man it's gas stakes you think that's like that's gonna hit the door gonna this track got smaller yeah that's definitely shrunk in the right far that's really city well I'm gonna hit everything no you say the problem we've got right here is that Shaw knows wheelbase is the exact right length to fit in between two very smooth rocks which means he's climbing the front and the back at the same time your app will wink infamy right this is definitely one of those spots where jumping on the winch early is a good option still there's a real possibility of damaging the four B's as your winch up those rocks so we've opted for an extension strap to allow us to pull Shawn directly forward of a well-placed tree further up the track these extension straps are a really handy bit of clip to keep in the four-wheel-drive allowing it not only to winch from further distances but also to control the angle of the winch by opening up more anchoring options it's a little bit of a winter see up here that little tight situation just that one step the front whereas a trying to climb as the back ones are trying to climb there's just what was holding me up it's just the wheelbase thing I reckon very difficult rocks that though okay let's see what the d-max can do of course I'm lower slung than the 80 but with a narrower profile I reckon I can give Shawn a run for his money [Music] yeah you can see right there I've got heaps more room on the side of the big one I did but it's gonna get hung up on these rocks like climb for what I think still we'll give it a red-hot go oh yeah thank goodness for sidesteps that's good grant actually got exactly the same spot as I did and I think that issue is the front and the rear strap on exactly the same time do well to get a vehicle here 31 inch tires same spot they only did not bad to be honest I'm pretty stoked with that but it's time to jump on the Dominator winch and get out of trouble hello again it's only a short winch we need to get those rear wheels out of that rut on the back under my own steam your turn there's gonna be fun to watch everything's true does is worth watching all that he drives hard track he doesn't say a lot good line so fast you good line it's coming in hot I'll feel a little overweight just boy patrols pretty heavy to mate everyone's a comedian turn all your lockers on hope for the best really control that in order they whoa oh yeah look at that that was done well Mike a lot of Psych comfort about this little narrow video it's on the a patrol Mike that don't stress too much this is really really time oh that canapes just touched oh ha ha ha my god it wasn't even a lick of paint between the canopy in that rock Stu is the widest of us all here mitten is not an inch to spare between these rocks and I talked about this not loving it I'm not sure what we're gonna do to getting through this unscathed honey you're a lot bigger than you look this is so very similar to the squeeze through the trees at the base of this track you gotta have a spotter out in front to guide you through the tight sections without someone looking at that canopy absolutely for sure shoo put it on a lot more damage you've got to get that tie in that damn group that is so tight but finally he's found a better angle and can line up the rock step that's it pedal on let's train him up straight up have a gal this were you student might just do this against all the odds he might just pull this off it's actually good line and would you look at that he is literally sitting on his deer I think that's game over might know maybe I think that's when she boy oh they get you actually driven at the furthest we've got well we've do that yep you can see they're exactly where he's hung up fortunately though he'll be able to winch up and over that without too much of a drama aside from a few pinstripes on the old diff pumpkin maybe pretty done well they reckon both of us yeah Drive you aren't telling that don't tell him that it's also the tightest track on ever seen in Australia yeah yeah cool actually when I put it out there if you've ever seen a tighter track than that yep let us know in the comments for lifetime and I reckon there was millilitres paints most of that drive yeah another coat of paint you woulda made it was in it Volodya nice letters on the comments below the tightest track you've ever driven [Music] well that's a pretty good opening to the cat rock track but there's plenty more challenges up ahead and you're up Sean oh right saddle up lock and load alright one thing this little part of the track what the saving or again it's gonna be a little bit harder than it looks this one sort of big rock step it's water it's quite a step you know [Music] Jones got that step wand out and it looks to have it under control but driving isn't for everyone Mike that's more like it bollocks my god cease to any more like a squid all right let me show you how it's done a serious rock step I'm going from here with an ifs vehicle I'm gonna try and pick the high lines I don't want to fall in the ruts because well I'm a lot lower to the ground and the bigger tracks a little bit of momentum to carry me through okay it's two's turn now there's a lot of weight from the back of that thing but this bloke knows how to wheel and of course he's got the benefit of the control that ball the match oh yes next on the menu is one hectic rock line this one's gonna need a bit of assessment before we attempt it I'd go so far as to say that this is one of the steepest little exits to any track I've ever driven in Australia this is a proper Rock step that's even right now until I give it a go but Barry State it's actually a rock wall not a rock ledge I think Sean toast chances are driving a pretty nil but we'll see how he goes he might make it [Music] only truth and right there you can see the ramifications have coming back down that hill oh that's steak yeah that's like trying to drive up young shot it gave you organ system do you wanna turn the engine off until we've is your old pickup are you like me to get that back what did I say you had one job mate you know just so Steve this is Gabbie yeah actually I don't you get off the phone yeah it's not a quality no yeah I don't know where it's going it's just one mutually it's very stable good news is you're not stuck with him with Jenny can you reach that bang my guys you better bury it the real key to getting this winch correct is to find the right tree we don't would be winching sideways here it's just way too steep luckily for us there's a lot of trees to choose from that winch angle is truly insane we've got to get this right heaven forbid that winch rope with a snap Shawn I would climb it back down the real danger is he could go end over end now that's not a long winch but you can hear the relief in shore nose voice what is knowledge they never heard of her yeah yeah good I'm modern winches I tell you what you'd be mad not to have one on the frontier for me alright it's d-max time and I've got a feeling this is gonna feel pretty wild oh it's really steep when you get here feeling set the airbag off house teepees do that I can't even get the front wheels up and over now try a slightly different line you haven't even got the step yet right Oh that'll do me Guinea crate forward okay now it all comes down to do or die thank goodness for that he's gonna drive it the whole thing go any way that they figure out that you know I can actually feel the vehicle wanting to climb but it's just such a steep angle that gravity is not letting it do so mm-hmm man that is steep it's Thursday pay oh it's super steep key for me here is not to shock load that winch I'm just letting the vehicle idle for word and the autos letting me do that easily such that I'm just slowly crawling up that rock face and letting the winch do most of the work that was one of the sleepers little pinches yeah that's this was all I make this is all time you don't realize how steep is till you get a vehicle on there you died are you feeling right there hey are you feeling that guy's pretty good boy serious it's just that thirty ones only one Locker twin locked thirty fives and I'm driving pretty much the same tracks you are like and when she gonna say the only difference is right cuz I'll make it look good glow it's quite good I'm gonna pack that house that she got to come back yes you've got to have a bit of rivalry with your mates right I tell you what folks who's the mate you like to pay out on when you're wheeling I know you've got one speaking of stews got all quiet again come on mate send her up look don't put it on sleep second gear punch it okay this is momentum [Music] spooling her up I got it up [Music] we never wait now that was one heck of an effort by Stu but this climb has just proven to be a bit too much when said biggest concern I've got here with student of course is that of wait that is a direct pull-up kill it's a lot to ask of any winching there he goes you done that you powerful first beer o'clock it is it is beer o'clock via quarter past actually my Torah can we make a camp in the water guns and get ready to head north tomorrow you got any ideas there's a couple around here ITINs a few I want to try and get a little secluded one away from the crabs well I could let's go Coco it's been an epic start to our North Coast trip and I reckon we've proven the point that the water guns is well worth its place at the start about tough New South Wales road trip better yet camp isn't far away just a short drive further up into the forest now New South Wales is at the start of a long hot and dry summer and already there's been bush fires raging up and down the coast if you're willing in New South Wales or Queensland this summer I urge you to check the information on fire bans in your area as our favorite wheeling destinations are going to be an absolute tinderbox [Music] look at this for a campsite would you yeah good is it and we've got the whole place to ourselves hard to believe we're just outside Sydney with the prospect of a cold beverage or two on the table we waste no time in getting set up for the night I'm running my usual setup and although the weather is looking good I'm putting out the awning just in case things get a little bit gooey tonight speaking of good setups Shawn's got a few new toys of his own I've got a new drawer system from different drawers and absolutely insane have all my stuff really organized and I've got a spot for basically everything in my camping kit and one thing in particular that I'm gonna set up right now is my solar blanket and we'll talk about this it just fits in the top drawer just like that takes up hardly any space and I reckon it's a must-have for anyone who's serious about camping this is 150 watt readout solar panel it's top quality and it will pump a stack of charge into my battery so I sort of get in the habit every time I go camping get this old blanket out get it on the bonnet and our maximize all the Sun so I can have my 12-volt system in tip-top shape now right here we're parked under trees and most campsites are gonna be around trees we've got filtered light through an arc solar bank and still charged in part shade thanks to the Uni solar cell technology it captures the full spectrum of light unlike cheaper model crystalline or poly crystalline blankets that need full Sun the other really cool feature about this one is its plug-and-play so within 30 seconds of getting it out of my back drawers well I'm starting to harness the sun's energy and to top up my 12-volt system with camp set up it's time to crack an eye on Jack and settle back for the night except for Shaun of course who still needs to set up come on mate get into it and with that the Sun sets on our first day on the road and a laser those are my favorite places well this little wheeling for hard tracks rhythm fall on really hard track starting at the water I was heading north actually I've got a few tracks I think I want to have a look at all right get on good with the flounder eyes a little bit in just yellow work the laparoscope not a bad plan at all stick around folks because there's plenty more ahead it's a perfect morning up here in the audience at this secluded little campsite hidden away up near Gap Creek while we're busy planning our next destination for the day our campsite seems to have attracted the eye of a few friendly locals who have popped in to check out the latest in four-wheel drive camping setups I don't know why that hanging around Shawna's rig we're only a day in and already there's a few battle scars and the four B's but that's all part of the fun don't you agree now of course we're going to be pushing on to our next destination this morning but if you do find yourself camped out here there's plenty to see and do in this part of the world if you follow your nose and of course the water guns is famous for tracks to test you and your vehicle for us though it's time to grab some brekkie before we hit the road [Music] like that looks absolutely fantastic what do you call this ensemble here well I'll call it the grand sausages and eggs yeah my favorite exactly right and it's a sort of a big meal but a pirate I get you going for the morning Don okay great look at these fellas down here look at this oh this is something I love about the one against literally you could bring the ten lives out here and an absolutely fantastic camping experience they can take it out of the native wildlife which I think's fantastic kids have got to see this and then the big kids want to play damn boy just some tracks oh yeah there's heaps to do as well as there's waterfall yes there's a big lookout up here okay it's all that sort of stuff yep but we've come for some very hard tracks so we get on get on the tracks get on the tracks as we're packing up camp a call comes in from a good mate of ours who's heard were in the area and joel has offered to take us wheeling to a very speculative coast just north of here and of course this has got one of the toughest to beach access tracks you'll find anywhere in Australia and that sounds like a perfect addition to an iconic New South Wales road trip [Music] it's a pity to leave the what again so soon but don't worry I got a feeling we'll be back here soon enough but now though it's on to our next appointment after a few miles on the blacktop we arrive at our meeting point with Joel just south the little seaside town of Foster but what an epic bit of coast see that blue stuff on the horizon gee whiz look at that we're up really I know only mo it should be almost near the start of this track and I think Joel should be there reckon we could just keep gallon pasty let's play soccer hopefully doesn't notice us and there he is in the big day you know buddy yeah wouldn't miss ahead like that would you there we go this fell all right Joel knows this part of the world like the back of his hand better yet he drives a neat little locked and lifted TD 42 might be paying attention sure know you could learn some things here mate the track that joel has for us today is of course the entry track to McBride's beach a magic little spot only accessible by four-wheel-drive and hosting one very committing rocky descent to get there now I can't wait the challenge is on this track start literally out of the car park with some flexi looking ruts to get things started the camera crew in the new lawn camera car are soon flexing their way ahead of us up on the track and I know those boys are never happier than when they see some big challenges up ahead well here we go boys McBride's Beach a classic around this part of town I haven't been an ether stroke many many years man and just say I remember it later it starts off with a bang straight into it let it be unusual wouldn't just writing writing I want to put my loggers who disapproves you behold I'm on a double me lead the cap I'll walk back the GABA G SATs Sudi does flick side so much flakes that didn't need lockers it's uh that's it that's that's a big rut the d-max handles these ruts really pretty well you see she's low to the ground and it's got a great center of gravity so you can just lean into these let the wheel lifts happen and know that you got to pop out the other side like a boss Stu and Joel take the ruts in their stride and soon we're all past the first little challenge and starting the descent towards the beach I mean part of the world bike have a look at that view out the right-hand side that I know to be lifting wheels even coming down a hill that sort of you pull little place to pull the ruts actually looks like it's washed out a heck of a lot since last time I've been down this way I can't remember about the last trip down here except that you were driving at Zook and you nearly put it on his lid also he be like there's gonna say something intelligent might come down this hill but I need both hands in the old wheel for this one the best thing about this is you've got to come back up this track so I'm not going down until I give you a pretty good indication account back up is gonna be it's gonna be awesome [Music] now the technical descent down to the beach is well worth the effort this is one stunning bit of coast and a perfect stop to set up for the day this of course is only a day use access area but still very much worth a visit Oh have a go that look at that McBride's Beach we're here the said the water it's a glorious day toad pretty darn spectacular there not many beaches your needle I arranged together but down to them know exactly right that's what makes this place pretty special tell you what I never get sick of seeing it spectacular would have died too it's really a turn-on for us thank you mother nature thank you McBride let this come here kitty bet the crowds Lou them staple everywhere I'm stuck ah that's spectacular taking the boats off gonna get the older toy sandy he to be able to drive a full would drive on a beach it's really one of the most amazing experiences just to have your fool drive down here on the water's edge what a place what a place [Music] yep that right there is a slice of paradise you reckon you've seen better well let us know in the comments mate this is spectacular weather's turning on to perfect my absolutely perfect about that nice little westerly piping ensure not a love about McBride's getting Danny is awesome the beach is fantastic got it to ourselves we're gonna get back up that hill ah no that's that's super fun honest I just want to spend I would spin I use the NA we should care Danny obviously you can't you can't care if it's against the rules yep but I just like visiting this place just like to come here for a picnic Fabi for a whole day I'll spend the whole night get there first thing in the morning Oh judo would you fish you for even fishes you wouldn't fish it all right not around that headland or anything like that I'm gonna challenge for ya you better make it all the way to the top without lifting a tire any more than three at once all right let's get any alrighty unfortunately as much as I could stay down here all day we're gonna make them on yeah good is this spot weren't making it all off I recognize this be made for today barbecue something the bit soft he's that guy I'm gonna get stuck that is soft but no okay so maybe I'm that guy tiny spots apart damn I thought you let me follow me out the track mate I'm bummed here right in front of the boys I seem to I set up a bit of a chain reaction here you Joel also seems to be struggling and yep yep that's so is choo all right well that's a tragedy oh this is fantastic this is probably the single greatest thing I've ever seen forward writing you notice the one Toyota in the group he played you likes her an absolute scream I've never seen anything like this in my life all right that'd make a perfect campsite firstly mate this is the single greatest moment of my forward Drive life I've seen some amazing things in the Kimberley we're talking Arnhem Land Cape your beverage arms this is middle this will go down as a single greatest thing I've ever witnessed you gave us something to be doing something about you a little bit more yeah all excited I'm so happy I'm gonna just get up culture so like you guys can't snatch yourselves out that's move aside this is pretty much the perfect place to try out these new max tracks extremes which you'll notice are fitted with these new hardcore lugs that drastically improve traction the basic principle of course is still the same use the max tracks to dig down to the base of the tires and then wedge them in before you take off though there's another step that could save you a lot of digging later when you buy your max tracks you'll see they'll come with these orange language you might wonder what they're for well you simply thread them through here pull them back themselves just attach them to the max tracks the reason you do that these work so effectively they get pushed down into the sand and you'd be amazed how hard it is to find these bad boys when they're down in the sand so just lay these out and it's so much easier to find them when you've got this lanyard attached really worthwhile with the max tracks in place getting out of the sand this is easy as pie you know a bitter right boot gets me through the soft sand and up to shore no all right it's time for Joel 3 this one these extremely gone it will be surprised how well this will work though if you decide to go down that path and buy yourself a patrol the first thing you should purchase for a bull bar before eating like that instead of max tracks because you'll probably find yourself stuck a lot go go go look at that he's gone from fairly deep in soft sand to back on his feet well just okey-dokey time to rescue you looks like we're all back on the road yeah all right well there you go and now the top location ticked off the list and now we got to get out of here [Music] [Applause] the rocks and ruts on this track look a little bit bigger when you're tackling the other way around and straight off the beach we're back into it so y'all boys this is a fun little attract to get out of then it's sort of a bit of a to your own adventure give up fight you know choose a pretty small adventure to get up this bit a little bit of rail lockup what is wrong and rock cluster come close to your core did it miles can't even draw he's gonna go all right that's oh sure it'll catch yet by picking the right line you can see that you can drive ruts and rocks as smoother if not smoother than the bigger tracks boy boy it's quite a ride this is a fun little track just full of brats it will smell its own - Mike yeah that's some flex right let's see how the d-max handles it it's gonna wait for the atom cloud to clear smoke holy now that's a wheel lift I didn't know if I was gonna come down then now the wholesale automatic boys I'm not exactly known for keeping all four wheels on the ground but let's see house G goes in now that is not only a huge wheel lift it just doesn't want to come down that's impressive mate you know just read over all the government that line is clearly not working so Stu backs up and tries just a different approach but note that is still looking bad possibly even worse that's getting to be a pretty worrying line you are on a wicked angle right me with that I'm gonna fall Mui yeah so my sister in Salem okay now anything slogan come yeah we'll come up right now take out straightness come back - thanks going back let's put on a different one I that was brought on the edge there yeah you mEEMIC record that I said just writing up a little bit and still get a pupper wheel let's have a little bad and knocking out there's a big Maui that was touch-and-go for a bit there all right now for Joel and being a local boy I reckon I'll have the line nailed yep he does nice one mate boys Millie the top of the hill look up all rights to go though well big ruts to go mate what are you thinking maybe maybe camp well that was another cracking day checking out this amazing part of the world I think you'd agree McBride speech makes a perfect addition to a New South Wales road trip there really is nothing better than local knowledge and Joel's provided just that sharing a secret little campsite at the back of a local farm just a bit further up the coast now that is pretty magic don't you reckon with Joel's dog chefs are keeping an eye on our work it's time to set up camp we've heard reports of bush fires all around this area and while I love nothing more than a campfire we're of course gonna skip the fire for the night at this time of year you really can do without a fire and if it doesn't put our precious Bush at risk then it's well worth it well have a gala this for a set up a brand-new draw system in Old City here and it's got everything where I want it and I think the key with this setup is that no matter what I want out of the back of the vehicle within about 15 seconds I can get it all my camp gear sort of goes in here and I've got these cute little see-through sort of top canvas containers that hold everything in it so I've got everything organized in there nicely fit of carton behind Jack's in the back which is fantastic he a must-have for any draw system and this side this is the business end so I've got a lot of my tools of torches in there but I'm a cooker it's a lot of weight in there lot of Milwaukee tools in there I close that one up this is a neat little feature this comes out of course as a table but you can take it all the way up fold the legs down and that's what we cooking on tonight up here I've got a merc like not emergency stuff but like an important stuff that's light weight so I've got first-aid kit I've got a solar blanket and I've got my Sat phones and I've also got the only wars for the 270 degree kings awning fridge chainsaw a few little bits and pieces down the side they're really not neat thing is a utilize all the space the other side of these wings so I've actually got all my aerosols cool won any of the oils and stuff like that down in this one here spare parts down in this side here so I've got axles I've got two locking hubs I've got unis I've got basically everything I need and the cool thing that these drawers I go right to the front of the vehicle so where my front seats our cargo barrier I've got a couple of hatches where my batteries are hidden away they've also got a 60 litre water tank so I reckon it's the ultimate little set up very happy with how it's come together a little way all like getting together there's a lot of hard work so time to get a beer I think with camp set up it's time to crack a few beers and relive the day and of course to make plans for our final leg of the road trip before we get to coffs harbour first though chef whale is in the house what are you got the Dometic today mate well that's on the boil here we go we're cooking up an absolute storm ready I'll get some water going that means pasta is on the menu tonight but not any old pasta I'm gonna jazz it up a little bit I'm making like a sausage pastures all right so I think that's an epic little meal it's a one-pot one that's what I sort of do because it's just easy to do that what are you going right now mate there's things hey good good good you cookin yeah got the water on it got the water on I'm just to be able to get started here really all my ingredients go on I do notice I've got a thanks for Europe hey fire yeah fire you need to jump back in that the better you be good I've actually talked at the end of it there's actually bit of a Gore met sort of meal I'm talking three or four sausage pasta there are more sausages yeah yeah normally not where's mine okay and grab the sausage there's a few sausages in the mail all different types of sausages that's the cave it this one different types of sausages that's always a party when you got four different types of sausage Hilly's say which ones you bought my very big but you get enough and you got some awesome English port there well we've got some exotics yeah yeah that's a lamb one what do you need what are these things that's all what hey gold sticks Oh kids that's why you get mugged a lot the fire stinks alright first up grab me an off-night as they shot as my assistant chef you can go the small one right let's get them sausages got a fair bit of fatty Minori there's some garlic in my Dometic yep Ripper bit of salt in there bit of pepper get get hard on the pepper here Italian herbs gonna rock a bit Italian herbs on them maybe a bit of garlic better go what smells good like that sauce eyes are looking an absolute traitor they really have family come to get it good the water is now on the boil so let's get that pastor in Jalopy to cut this like a movie cord there's a sharp knife might just do that yeah good your little covered with that sausage mate no you won't hear that little tape when you're doing pasta salt yes definitely and olive oil in terms to things I was once told by an Italian that the water should be as salty as the Mediterranean that's that's a great tip to take with you in fact if you're lot there there is a bit of lunch sorry it's another perfect day for our final push up the coast and Stu seems to have tapped into some new-age Zen under his canvas these rough heads are soon downing some coffee and a plan unfolds to check out the tough tracks of possum brush before we leg it up to coffs harbor this camp has been a great little find from Joel and definitely one will keep in the memory banks look at this camp saw I reckon I've got it just to be it's spot on it's got the 270 degree awning out and last night actually put one of the awning walls on the wind got up a little bit and I think it's a coincidence but as soon as I finish cooking that wind became a lot stronger and I don't get one of those awning walls out put that down and actually stop the wind from coming inside the camp and one thing I really like about this setup is it gives me over 10 square meters of under cover area now that's without the walls it gives me plenty of room to put my swag also in my cooking set up all my canteen set up fits underneath it's 270 degree Ordnung you tuck the walls out where you get a heck of a lot of space now it's not just a space so it protects from all the elements heat wind rain and even if you've cooked a big batch of the old sausage pastor bike it'll protect you from anything put that all together and you've got the ultimate camp setup now another really cool thing is it packs down really quick that's exactly what I'm about to do because today there are some pretty insane tracks keeping up with the theme of the ultimate road trip destinations we've got a couple of uber classics lined up for today and Joel had so much fun yesterday he's decided to tag along little tip for you folks when you're rolling up your swag of course put your poles in your swag when you roll them up but if you just spread them out a little bit like that you take any time over it just like that when you roll it up it actually gives you a bit of purchase on your swag and allows you to get that initial roll the oil important initial roll a lot tighter of course if you get that one tighter the whole thing will be a little bit smaller goes in the bag easy and packs away smaller just a little tip where cane to get on the road so quickly we've got camp pack down well underway but of course there's one Toyota driver in the convoy so there's always a few delays it's well over the last couple of days of driving tracks of notice that my aircon fully well it's been really squeaking that build squeaking a heck of a lot and I've just been overcoming it with ribs to be honest with you every time I get to it noise you just put revs up and it's sort of you can't hear as much I thought I'll actually do the job properly just tighten that belt up it's really easy grab yourself a fourteen if you've got ratchets planners as well that's one thing always carrying the vehicle on a wreck and they make such a difference there you go that shouldn't squeal let's say what just with especially if you've got an old vehicle and you're out in the tracks pays every single morning just to open that violet just have a quick look around even if you know you don't have a squeaky belt or something like that just to pay so have a good look over the engine bay and compute vehicle in tip-top condition with maintenance done we push north once again and soon we're back up in the bush and headed to some iconic tracks at the back of possum brush sure all right now that attracts Mike yeah Mike and I'm stoked to be out here the trucks out here pretty inside there's that clay hill there's the pencil on track there's there's a whole stack sleep Rees all those five lines around here it's just off the highway if you wait around a little trick it off for our first track of the day we're heading to clay Hill a steep ascent that climbs up out of this deep forest we've got a bit of a long history with this track and it's absolutely one of my favorites soon enough the first pinch of clay hill is rising ahead of us this is a committing climb and as the name suggests in the wet there's virtually no traction but even in the dry this one looks pretty daunting here you go this is what they call the CAI he'll be guilt made by mistake there you go fly hill done across the river Boston just don't prices big trucks Felix went yes that always spooks me out that Hill but we're up [Music] this is Stu's first time attempting his Hill so let's see how the big auto handles twin locked GU patrol with an auto I mean come on was there even a hill there's two - Matt's giving off Joel's opted for low-and-slow here she stated he state it really does seem to be doing the trick no just around the bend this track really does kick it up a notch with a series of ruts to thread your way through to the top this one is not for the faint-hearted so this is a this is right at the very top of clay Hill and inside say this is probably the crux of the matter right here this is this big rock step that everyone talks about it's huge and I reckon she's a bit more rotted out the last time I saw as a big big rut down through here I'm still a bit unsure of what line to take but this is one of those tracks sometimes you only get a choice of like you've just got to pair up and over the best but I'm gonna watch it on I come through here going for this now the rock slips in that halfway mark which is mine too I take just a big gnarly Rock Hill he's been sketching oh sure my way you gone there Mike come on stay on the track but that was one epic Drive well done mate couple of comedic sections there as I predicted the rock step here and these big tree roads twin locked 35s let's have a go that was committing them long and everything you want to have a good tough track so you have to go up here and Choji pants now this is one heck of a challenge it's the soy hill I love getting my teeth suckin - I'm gonna give this 100% close just a clearance issue that's all but you yeah your driver's is like not even touching the bottom of the right [Applause] yep this is one of those times when size does matter so it's out with the winch grams only got a certain amount of winch rope on that vehicle hema rather than accident all ways try to try keep at least one full length of winch rope on the drum and the extension strap I'm just still a little bit short so tree trunk protector but the way I'm going to do this is just loop it across itself I'm gonna put something in here so when this gets really tight and bound up it'll be easy to get apart one of the best things you can put in here is actually a toilet roll I forget you some dummy paper but um after my cooking that's just important probably capable that's all on paper you don't have that much but so that although that with the extension strap giving me a straight line pull up to the top of the hill it's a nice safe winch over those rocks and soon I'm up and out of trouble ready to give the last section a crack yes that that is a proper proper falling drive track that is low-rise steep committing nollie but we go to the top and that it's not chance at the end of the day want to grab this recovery gear because this track is at one serious track I mean this huge ruts I mean unless you have thirty five inch tires you don't really stand a chance you were so hung up on thirty ones that I could change the tire I wouldn't know how to jack the vehicle up he's not got a heap more clearance tonight not really even he's got 33 he has twin locks we lock that front can't pull you through sometimes drives with flat out anymore that you only knows two positions on the throttle her off so I think it'll be entertaining either way tuck that Auto in the upper right right well I guarantee whatever happens here and it's gonna be pretty epic let's take it away Stu Stew's front difference just clears that rut and now you can line up for the top section hot red hot but that control he has ridiculous stews really using that Bordeaux to his advantage here showing a lot of control as he hits last big steps he's who the dust that's impressive that is an impressive yes I've hated hell that pendant depended on fuse momentum to carrying through some alright Winlock 33 so you need this what would be the job between locked on 34 there's no weight in the back no I'm just a dog he's got one dumpy that I can't drive and he's got the vehicle on he saw exactly how lucky are you to have mates like ask Joel in all seriousness though he's picked a great line and monster his way through it what roster the hawk is [Music] that's a good Drive would drive I've got no idea with women but you're sure that's a proper Hill that's right that's scared the heck out of me that's a real Hill it's it's dreamy a tough one more - I just feel like getting a bit throttle in and just going up a hill really around the corner I'll race you all right let's let's pack all this up and get a pencil on keep it close boy now of course we're jus in Coffs Harbour this afternoon but having too much fun to call it quits just yet so we hightail it up the road to the next challenge called a fence line trap just look what this tracks being driven in a long time is quite overgrown very dry as well out here and just through the vines in the lantern I can see the track this goes like this almost vertical the east coast of New South Wales like we've north coast area offers some of the toughest track there's no doubt about it it's just just so many tracks down through here fence line is another New South Wales classic it short and sweet with two big pinches to get through this one is guaranteed to be a lot of fun don't even think I should go left on this run rather than rotting it as always this challenge looks quite a bit bigger once you get the four-wheel drive up close yeah it's huge how do you do tonight come on Oh always the Lord is it what are you doing on a night Joseph advice was of Suster there he left I would be doing that long why I wanna say what happens yeah good Drive [Music] that's a big heart it isn't big how it's grown she goes sorry the little tractor keys are based on 35 inch tires between lock does this makes short work for these tracks well all I can really do here is follow his tire tracks and do that see here we go here there's a rut before the rock nope that's it well driven chair Dr Goode drive an IV wheel it big wheel it yep I just followed a twin locked truck on 35 so I'm pretty damn stoked this committed he'll be so stoked in there how fun is this yah monster dog show us what you got it's all control probably this little wheel in the back stop everyone June get em go on get down get down there yeah with that pinch under our belts we're into the main section with a pencil on track a long line of ruts and slippery rocks it's challenging but a lot of fun steak really shyly stop - just wanna eat that funnel sort of equals moving around a lot he's gonna keep that momentum going the sooner you stop it yeah I reckon it's top of this hill that's it you've already done the cameras really don't do this one justice but I can tell you this is steep with virtually no traction you've just got to try and keep moving just clearance it's gonna have to come back to get a slightly different line I feeling that right and it's quite big yeah I thought just a little bit more momentum would see me throw it but not really [Music] hopefully I'm gonna clear into the big 35 just stay put Oh [Music] let's get the Academy Roddy I even they let me be my man's I'm up there oh he's Bassam you can tell here I was given that the berries I was using momentum as my friend these ruts are just too much of change Grimes plan of attack here they've go back a little bit more instead of driving in this rut where you need big tires sometimes to get a vehicle with small tires through you can straddle the right it's a little bit more sketchy but he gets it right now that I've found a lot of the d-max an only thing to do here is stay on the power and pin it to the top this is a wild ride I've left the camera crew behind but sometimes you just gotta push and top just right ahead go that D max I want you big girl happy gift what a drive what a drive well that was a remarkable drive he gummed up out of those rocks straddled the whole way very impressive Drive very incredible I need a - it was that was fun but you're not here I come Stew's seen how it's done and I reckon he's not gonna hold back here we go to get into it what it is and he really is oh oh no mister boy huh steering after that the top five yeah Jesus into it he was not slowing down yeah how was sick so much fun well done Mike that was one heck of a drive Laura job last man up show us what you got [Applause] little bees up on a track like that was a spirit of drive ever I've seen one all control control it was control which I was surprised about until right at the top nearly came off right there but he's done it he's done it this is an early track manner all these tracks on the East Coast you dare go in between that sort of Newcastle to cross Harbor agent and you wanted to indeed a new track every single day to make you a nor he could easily you can spend three months trying to get from here to cross over and mate they are all exactly like this one or their lutely crackers absolute cracker so much fun right let's get off this hill come up it's good debate possum brush has absolutely turned it on for us today what do you reckon folks I think this is a very worthy stop on a classic New South Wales road trip for us though it's time to push on to our final destination days of an absolute hoot we've had everything we've had perfect tracks perfect weather conditions the Camping's been sublime company's been ok well speaking of that right now Joe you to copy you make sure my it's been a cracking trip might not want to thank you for Rosh Hashanah other than coughs our buffer the lights getting along but we decided to push on to check out one final track for the day now coughs is absolutely jam-packed full of tough track some challenges for all level of four-wheel driver and soon one of them more gnarly offerings is up ahead this is the three bears track it's pretty damn committee joy oh my that's a proper Hill this way I can't even walk up it I'm gonna I'm gonna squat down here before a fall she is proper state right so we've just said goodbye to John and trav about two hours north carefully hours at the highway just turned off just before the town cops Harbison yep and look at this will ya look at that absolutely a place so we've got another four or five days out here having fun unfortunately for you folks that's the next the max tracks extremes I cooped it on the beat that was so funny actually we all did we go down it's my funniest moment for Drive yeah hilarious ever hilarious but the beauty of it is Joel actually got he was down Jesse Duke yep and those max tracks extremes are unlike anything I've ever seen yeah you would be extracts for Hammond yemen's forever but these new ones appear absolutely the bee's knees if you don't ever set those extraneous yeah so good just to get a vehicle that's bong - it's a Z stretch down maximum so I trigger you there that's not what happens that's what I haven't those things save your bacon I don't know you can't afford not only speaking of saving bacon right you got no I don't might but another thing we carry it all the time ah so I'm a little Victorian office now this is a little multi-tool yeah you got yours in your belt they always run around with these things at the campsite and stuff like that super good quality know there's sort of one tool you buy once and you keep it forever because these things are awesome there they've got heaps of different little things from knives - screwdrivers - all bits and pieces mate honestly if I got a dollar for every time I lent this one out yeah well you're lucky to get it back in some say because they really do I mean that's it look at that for a gift just looks they looks it looks bacon of Victoria Knox if you're an eagle eye you'll notice that the noise that I use when I'm cooking up an absolute masterpiece police are not too good my knives are good Victoria Knox yo Ives a nice the answer super sharp I used to use black ones and I've had more knee misses with the black dogs that I've ever the sharp a sharp ones just get it all wait look it might not taste the best but at least we'll look pretty good and the thing I love about those knives is they retain that edge for a long period of time so if you're a bit lazy like us you've done have to sharpen um all the timing you're talking about Bush firm yeah I'll give them up so the tip and I don't use it that much of the cooking scene but there's a little orange handled one get it there thus we bow oh yeah yeah and they're amazing if you're a fisherman I saw my cuz you know this way like yep great feel any noise lastly and certainly not least Lee is loosely a word it is tonight Leslie snaps clothing if you want the clothing we're wearing this I've had this on too long probably you can't I'm an absolute mess but we are what we do we test his clothes in the conditions they're built for or drive tracks if I can handle our sport a zuv wear the same shirt run up and down mountains and winch and carrying on like that and yeah I mean wash multiple times or get me another trip well then they're gonna work for you guys so that's like
