hallelujah First Samuel chapter 20 and verse 24 or verse 25 now the King sat at his seat as at other times on a seat by the wall and Jonathan arose Abner set by Saul's side but David's place was empty that's all I'm going to read today I heard someone preached years years ago on this and it never left my mind and inspired me and I'm gonna share today some thoughts on this particular verse because what we get a picture of his King Saul and his inner circle who he allows clothes to speak into his life Bible said he's at his table in his home and his palace and certain people are there and I think more interesting is the people who are not there who used to be there and I want to preach for a few moments on right voices bring right choices if you don't get the right voices in your inner circle there's no way you're gonna be making the right choices in life this story illustrates that the Bible said King Saul was sitting in his usual place which has a connotation that you almost have to read in between the lines that his usual place was he's unmovable he thinks that he doesn't have to move anymore his back is against the wall he's paranoid he's in a place like never before and we're told who's there and we're even told who's not there by absence it's at this inner circle that he's in that these people who are in the room are given unrestricted access to his thought life into his heart therefore their voices are helping and heavily influencing his choices and that's so important for you to understand show me your friends and I'll show you your future your friends that are close in your circle are a photograph of your future your friends are a photograph of your future the Bible puts it like this in Proverbs 11 where there is no counsel the work falls but in the multitude of counselors there is safety their safety in getting wise people and wise voices inside your circle when we make good decisions we make them according to people who are advising us and that we're listening to proverbs 24 and 6 said for by wise counsel we go where we make war the but in the multitude of counseling and says it there is safety and in other words don't ever go to battle without wise voices speaking into your life don't ever just tear your life up and go to war so to speak without listening to some people who have wisdom and the very word of God and Spirit of God in your life don't go into battle the Bible said in Proverbs 9 and verse 10 if you rebuke a wise man he will love you for it and then he goes on to say the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom and so you need these people in your life everyone body needs people in their Circle who can influence you with their voice to make the right choices Seoul did not have wise people around him I'm going to prove that to you in just a moment he used to have wise people godly people around him but pride entered his life and when pride entered his life he began to isolate himself from wise counsel when he started out the most predominant voice in his life was the voice of God the voice of God came to him through the voice of Samuel the elder Samuel the Prophet God used Samuel and when he spoke the Bible said of the words of Samuel not one word fail to the ground in that amazing it says in 1st Samuel 3 and 19 not one of his words God backed up every thing that he said and this was the kind of voice that came to him and said God has chosen you to be king of Israel the first king to ever be on the throne of Israel will be you so that was the voice that used to be at his table he had wise counsel the most important voice was when we're brought to First Samuel 20 was no longer in his inner circle that voice that elder that had raised her sharp sensitivity that could hear God's voice and speak to him and it would move him all the way to his bones now he has removed that man from his life and when you remove God's voice you start hearing other voices for samuel chapter 7 in verse 3 it said that as long as samuel was there by saul side that his words kept the enemy at bay Wow how important is it to have some elders some people who have lived the walk some elders may be your mother and your father or your grandparents and they may get on your nerves because they keep you after spiritual things you all don't you just want to hear the good things but you don't always need everybody in your inner circle that tells you what you want to hear you need some people who tell you what you need to hear and they don't care whether you want to hear it or not you're wise if you do that right voices right choices elders who hear god elders who speak the Word of God aren't precious GILF the Bible said in 1st Samuel 15 when Saul began to disobey God and he didn't do what God told him God gave him a clear direction to smite and destroy all of the Amalekites and God had a reason for that and you'll see the reason in just a moment and he said I'm not going bei that I'm gonna keep the king and bring him back and have a parade and I'm gonna keep the choice sheet and I'm gonna have a public offering and the people will love it I don't look good and we'll put on a big religious show this is gonna be a big deal my ways better than God's Way and in comes that old prophet he comes in with the mantle he points his bony finger in the face of the king he's powerful he's prestigious he's popular he's wealthy he's all of that but none of that means anything to God and he looks at him and he says when you were little in your own eyes you had worth to the kingdom but now you have lost that littleness in your own eyes your ego is out of control your pride is out of control you're not listening to the voice of God in the Word of God and that's when God used you powerfully when you walked humbly when you walk before the Lord with a certain sensitivity and fear of God and he said do you remember when I called you and what more did you that they had to fetch you and pull you out from among the stuff you were so lowly that you hid when it was time for you to take the throne oh how you've changed now you don't even listen to God's voice and this prophets just letting him have it and he's the king and he says these famous words obedience is better than sacrifice and rebellion is witchcraft in other words when you know that God has clearly spoken to you and you keep doing what you know God has clearly spoken to you and told you not to do rebellion is witchcraft and he was saying it opens up the evil side of the supernatural in your home in your life in your family simple obedience to God and his word is always better than stray Gnaeus acts of sacrifice and in 1st Samuel 15 and 27 the Bible says Samuel starts to walk out of the presence of the king after he delivers that word and the King grabs him and when he does he pulls his mantle off and the prophet whirls around and he says just as the mantle has been ripped and torn off of me so will the kingdom be torn away from you and placed in another man's hands from that day forward no longer was Saul or was Samuel in Saul's inner circle from that day forward the Bible said Samuel came no more the voice of the elder the voice that brought conviction the voice that reminded where you came from the voice that told you to stay humble and low and there's a way that seems right but the end thereof is destruction that voice was forever removed from the inner circle of Saul's life I'm telling you when you don't have God's voice in your life you'll start hearing other voices and the Bible said when he got in a desperate situation and needed a word from God he went to the Witch of Endor and now he's hearing the voice of demons because she conjures up this is in your Bible and I'm expecting them to throw it up while I preach it ain't got time to stop and give you every verse you need to read the Bible when you don't have the voice of God there's only one other voice coming it's the serpent it's demons it's Devils it's man's way it's the flesh it's its leave the marriage leave the home when you don't have God's voice in your life then the enemy comes in with his voice and he goes here he is now he goes to a witch and he says conjurer I need a word from God see if you can see if you can get any word from God because he's so messed up now he thinks that God speaks through crystal balls and he thinks God speaks through tarot cards and while we're going into Hollywood Halloween let me just throw it out there you better leave witches and you better leave all that mess alone you better leave black magic alone you got to leave who are you bringing in your circle what voices are you well I'm kind of bored with Christianity Elmo try this and I'm gonna try that yeah the demons gonna come right into your home because there's only two I know y'all don't like this old-fashioned preaching but it's the truth our kids are playing with the occult and playing with demons and playing oh it's just games it's just entertainment no it's not when he went to this witch she conjured up she said I see someone coming I see something in my crib uh-oh he's coming I see it and and and and Saul said what do you see he said I see an old man and he's wrapped in a mantle and when she said mantle his word went back to that moment when that old prophet said the kingdom will be ripped from you and from that day forward it wasn't long until he had so opened up his life to the wrong voices that your Bible said Saul tried to commit suicide fell on his own spear he couldn't get it to go completely through his heart he's bleeding he's gurgling in his own blood and it's sad because his son John than is on the same mountain fighting for his life and the same enemy that kills his father and I will tell you something about that in a minute the same enemy that kills his father is killing the son guess who it was as saul is falling on that spear and he can't quite kill himself and he says he said here's somebody and he can't see and he says who are you and he's bleeding he says will you come finish it push on my back and send the spear through me and as the man creeps up on him and Saul asked him who are you you know what his answer was it's in your Bible he said I am an Amalekite you know the one that God told you to completely wipe out I'm not only gonna take your life but I'm gonna take the life of your son I've got him over there on the ground I'm telling you that there are things that if we don't conquer them and overcome them when God gives us the power to do it it'll come back in the family and try not only to take you out but take your children out and we need to understand spirits grow up spirits start week and if you feed them they grow up and they move from father to son and we have the power through the name in the blood and the Holy Spirit to conquer those spirits when God gives us the power to do it and it breaks the curse off of the whole family what voices are you bringing into your family it cost him his life it cost him his family's life it cost him everything we need the voice of people who've lived the life elders and people who who sometimes get in our business and people who sometimes preach to us and people who constantly ask us why were you not in church and where were you and I missed you and why weren't my grandbabies in church I didn't see my grandbabies you need that one in your you need them to have a seat you them in your inner circle because if you don't have the right voices you'll stray father and father and father and you'll start going to other voices notice that when he got rid of the voice of God he got very close to the voice of a fool because the Bible said very specific wording that Saul sat closer to Abner than anyone else Abner the Bible said in the book of 2nd Samuel was a fool Abner was two-faced Abner had a voice that was dangerous Abner was looking after himself Abner was the captain of the army that Saul had but he did not have his Kings interest he had his own interest and ambitions at heart and so he's removed the voice of God and he's pulling fools in clothes to hear their voice you know what the Bible said about Abner and first samuel 26 it said that while saul was chasing david that he got tired one day and he laid down and he put his staff in the he put his his spear in the in the ground by his pillow and he laid down and went to sleep and david and his mighty man could have taken that spear and killed saul and put the spear through his head on that pillow and your Bible said and Abner was asleep with him the one who was supposed to have his back was asleep I want to preach to you that you don't need people and their voices in your inner circle who are spiritually asleep you need people that talk to you on a regular basis who are spiritually awake because you say well now they got my dad you don't know who's got your back you don't know what the mode is arm you can't have my back if you don't have God's heart if you don't have God's hearts you don't have my back and if you don't have God's hearts you don't have your children's back there's some things your money and your intellect can't do for your family when you've got a heart for God that will give you wisdom in their life that you can speak things that can make such a profound difference you need people around you who have God's heart who are spiritually awake people you need voices in your life that are not fools fools make fun of Church fools say God is dead fools say there is no truth in that book there is no hell there is no heaven party now live now and some of you have removed the voice of God and you become cozy with voices of fools leave your marriage forget your family forget all of that God stuff let me tell you about Abner what Saul didn't know is why he was playing kissy Kissy he was doing a secret deal with someone else in Israel saying let's throw Saul off and me and you rule couldn't get that guy to do it he would eventually link up with King David and in 2nd Samuel 3 and 12 he sent a secret message when he realized that David was going to be the next king and it couldn't be stopped he switched sides just like that and said let's make an alliance a secret alliance and I'll help you kill Saul some of those people you think are your friends are using you he slept with the Kings concubine and he died as a fool dies don't invite fools into your inner circle and give your ears in your heart to their voice proverbs 13 and verse 20 is so powerful he that waltz with wise men shall be wise but the companion of fools shall be destroyed he did not say the fools will be destroyed only but he said you may be smart you may know the Word of God you may know who Jesus is but if you start becoming the companion of fools and The Fool has said in his heart there is no God and if you start hanging out listening to those voices of foolish people the Bible said the companions of fools will be destroyed not just fools who's in your clique who you listening to who have you put out what when's the last time you had God's voice rock you when's the last time you had such a word from God that you trembled at his word when's the last time you got broken and tears came in your eyes maybe you have removed that voice and now you're getting closer and closer and closer and just getting all cozy with foolish voices notice what happens next the Bible said Jonathan his son the rightful heir to the throne was sitting at a distance I'll tell you another voice always a dead giveaway of danger it's when you start having the family voice at a distance move them away and bring was closer why wasn't his son sitting next to it I wasn't the heir to his throne sitting next to it well tell you why because he had lost the voice of God he started listening to evil spirits he starts listening to fools and he's making bad choices and he gets so mad at his boy in the same chapter that he takes his spear and he's sitting on the opposite side that's how you know he's sitting on the opposite side because the Bible said he threw his spear at him and when your family and the voice of your family is on the opposite side and you're pushing them away pushing them away because they're bothering you and you don't want to hear it you don't want to hear it I'm preaching to somebody this is not a game you think you got your whole life to sow your Wild Oats and do your thing but the Lord wanted you to hear an old-fashioned conviction bringing message today to warn you you've got some people in your circle you're putting out the good voices you're bringing in the bad voices and you're giving distance to the family voices you're saying stay out of my business stay out of who I'm there stay out of that that's none of your business well God put you in that family if they're God if they have a relationship with God he put those people in your family so they could raise their voice whether you like it or not and tell you what you need to hear not what you want to hear I refuse to go any further until you clap your hands for the voice of God if you've still got it you ought to rejoice whether you like it or not you are to rejoice you don't want that voice to walk out you don't want that mantle to be left in your hand you don't want that and the enemy wants to eliminate the family voice he wants family throwing javelins at one another fighting in more and more distance between you and your father your mother your brother your sister this stupid stuff coming into our homes I'm almost done but Saul attacked his own son throwing spears and he died on the same heel with his son by the same enemy because he started listening to the wrong voices the force of the fool the family voice is getting more and more distant that's what you have to forgive that's when you have to reach out that's when you have to get on your knees that's when you have to stand and fight demons and hail over your marriage over your family over your children over your grads Yoder and you have to push those spirits of addiction spirits of immorality push them out of your house don't open the door rebellion is witchcraft don't open the door to the evil side of the supernatural in your home and in your family through bitterness and unforgiveness but shut the door quit throwing spears at your flesh and your blood and pull them up close even if they're messed up pull them back in even if they're far from God pull them keep pulling keep calling keep reaching keep telling them your love them keeps you keep praying for them keep inviting them you keep pull them don't you let fools replace them pull your family close then it's interesting that it gives one more detail there's another missing voice that the inner circle you know who it is David see was empty you know David the worshipper David the Prophet who could prophesy David was spiritual let me tell you when you when young check on how you doing spiritual do you have any do you have any really spiritual people in your life close do you have anybody who sends you a prophetic word every now and then or prayer for you or a scripture text do you have anybody I have brother T of 10 he he used to before he died I was almost scared when I get a phone call from him I didn't know if it was gonna be good or bad oh how blessed you are when you got some people in your life that are more spiritual than you are think about David is he was spiritual now David wasn't a perfect man but he was a passionate man and God said he's a man after my own heart and I don't I don't have to have you perfect to be a man after my own heart but I do need some passion in you you know I need you to be spiritual what's wrong with being spiritual we become so carnal that we don't want anything spiritual in our week all week long and we just want to come to church and feel a little bit of God and go home but you need some people in your life that are more spiritual than you are they provoke you to jealousy because they worship all the time there they get worse from God all the time you you got any friends like that you got anybody we almost feel like well you know that to spirits what's wrong with spirituality you need somebody telling you you need to pray have you read your Bible you need to seek God you need the fast you need to go after God I dare say that the last step to getting the wrong choices in your life is when the worshiper is dismissed and you think that you don't have to worship but when you were little in your own eyes you had your hands up when you didn't have much you will worship Him with all of your heart I think it's interesting that King Solomon or King Saul did I think it's interesting that King saw rarely had the Ark of the Covenant it was gone for almost 40 years of his reign somewhere taken because he didn't treasure the presence of God but David was sworn in to be king and within five minutes he calls an emergency board meetings staff meeting bring all my team in if I'm gonna take over this nation I want to know where the Ark of the Covenant is well it's down at ov and Ethan's house he said we'll get the singers get the band get the soldiers get the cart we're going down to get the Ark I can't do this without the anointing I can't do this without the presence of God I can't do what God's called me to do it's not enough to be smart it's not enough to be intellectual not enough to be cute it's not enough to look fancy I need the anointing and he said bring the art and the Bible said that he went and fetched the art I like that word fetched it and brought it back and every six steps they would stop and have a praise break and David would take his priestly robe off and he would dance before the Lord with all of his might every now and then you need some super spiritual people to get in your life to say I've noticed you're a Deadhead I've notice you're dry I noticed you rarely say praise the Lord our Jesus all week long and if you got some people in your inner circle like that you're bless you're blessed I need the prophetic I need God to speak to me I need the Lord to lay me on somebody's heart every now and then I don't need it every day but boy every once in a while somebody out of the blue send me a text or call me and it's like whoa what voices you got any spiritual voices in your life well I'm a professional businessman and I take care of my business very much good I respect that man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds and if you don't have one you got one in front of you with a microphone I'm sitting at your table I'm in your business I'm in your head I'm in your heart I'm telling you something's missing you've put the wrong voices out you need to get the right voices the voice of the Holy Spirit is booming in your ear right now all you gotta do is say yes to God and no to the world [Laughter] holy close lift your hands up and praise him all over at every campus lift your hands and praise and lift your hands and thank him that you have an ear to hear let's get up on our feet at every campus stand up and lift up holy hands lift him up lift him up lift him up get the worshiper back at your table get the worshiper back in your circle get spirituality bad you're not we're not called to be religious we're not called to just come to church and do church we're called to know him we're called to be close to him were called to be people of his presence you don't have to be perfect but you do need some passion if you want to be a person after God's heart and that had left Psalm and the chair was empty as the passion as it left and the chair is empty has worship left and the chair is empty has consecration left and the chair is empty have is your family more and more and more at a distance you and your wife you and your children you and your family is it more and more and more to distance or are you getting closer and closer and closer to people who absolutely don't believe like you believe and absolutely don't have faith like you the Companions of fools shall be destroyed got more in common with the world than you do the church something is wrong this is hard it's giving you a little medicine this morning but I promise you it's the truth lift your hands high like antennas say Lord open my ears again give me discernment in my circle I need the right voices like never before this is a critical time I can't afford to have the voice of fools louder than the voice of God I mean my family that's distant and throwing spears I need you to troll me again to turn the hearts of the father to the children the hearts of the children to the Father I need you to restore my family somebody just needs to say that God helped me to push darkness out of my home help me to push the enemy out help me to bring the glory in oh god I will passion in my heart for you Lord I won't Dave it at that circle I won't oh god the word the elders the ancient ones who gone before me I needed them and their voice still speaking even if they're dead while they're dead they yet speak the scripture declares I wonder today is so touched me it's so touched me I was I was shaking hands at the end of the first service and there was a young soldier he wasn't dressed in his uniform of calm of course but he just got back from Afghanistan he was a kid is his parents were there with him and his kid he's a kid that was raised at free chapel since he was 4 years old now he's a soldier who's been on two tours in Afghanistan and he came home the first Sunday this Sunday and he stood out there in that Lobby in tears big old strong tall handsome young soldier he said pastor you wrecked me today I said I didn't you heard another voice that was God's voice he said I've done everything you said I moved God's voice he said there was nothing over there but the wrong voices and I I got close to him but he said today and he could hardly say he said today I got right today I heard his voice again today I feel good in my soul that's what I'm talking about hugged and I said thank you for being a hero for our nation the son God has a plan for you that is greater than you can't imagine you keep his voice in your circle he's going to do great things with you [Music] I'm preaching to you and you and you and you and you you hear a voice inside of my voice I know when I'm on I'm on like a dog hunting rabbit with a sin the holy ghost hands are after you just like they got after Elijah Italy kiss but the hands of the Holy Ghost are chasing somebody back to the altar back to the cross back to the blood back to peace back to forgiveness [Music] they'll run from him run to it if you're here today and you know that you know that you know you may never hear his voice again but you're hearing it in this service today at all of our campuses watching my television you say pastor I need to get right with God I need to get the wrong voices out the right voices in if you've been involved with the occult or anything like that you've been weak we can push those evil the evil side of the supernatural completely out of your temple and out of your house today there's power in the name of Jesus you'll ah felt that I'm not afraid of a witch greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world that's doing something I feel a stirring in the room I feel the moving the conviction the anointing that lifts burdens and breaks yokes you know you're supposed to get in this altar I don't care if you're saved or not saved I don't care if you come to church every week or you've never been here before if you know God's saying get in that altar get out of your seat wherever you are don't talk you're set on listen to the wrong voice and make the wrong choice the right voice is the Holy Spirit and he's telling you move he's telling you obey he's telling you obedience is better come home come to Jesus come with your weakness love with your addiction come with your fear come with your depression we family can be broken bring it on clothes bring it all to see hallelujah say a church all over the room singing [Music] they're coming they're coming they're coming [Music] come on come on come on come on if you need help come on if the enemy bringing that the boys of you and your family give it to God but you do have to get passion passion do they really know various voice be willing to humble yourself when you were got to deal with you come only takes humility it takes you militant obey the voice of God some things you can't be dumb things your mind can't you need his spider he's speaking to you he's speaking to you voiceover okay [Music] finger stuff big moments you can do a lie in moments like this so hard to get here we all not to be in a hurry to get out of it take so much to get here where we are spiritual in the presence Oh [Music] Jehovah [Music] God Almighty is here the healer the provider principies [Music] you try [Music] look at the hard side yes they are [Music] [Music] lift your hands god we pray for our nation pray for our Congress pray for our Supreme Court pray for our president and his wife and family pray for your help your healing pray for our nation heal our land we need God in America his name is Jesus
