that's mostly used by men in this fight that includes all women it's true uh take it back and uh we have steph woodburn hi i'm steph and i'm just here to have fun so amy was here to crush you all and was here to crush the patriarchy and you're he'd have a good time i have here a stack of statements these are untrue statements about the things that you like or that has some huge rabbit fandom who is certain to try to correct you on these sorts of things but your job is to correct me there's only two rules uh you have to proceed your corrections with the phrase um actually jeopardy style i won't give you the point unless you very obnoxiously say um actually uh and uh you can interrupt me at any point just like in real life you don't need to wait for me to get my point out pretty clear pretty pretty good yeah certainly you have no experience with any of these phenomenon i have never been corrected on anything i posted on the internet ever i believe yes that totally makes sense we will start first question here which is about sailor moon in the sailor moon franchise each of the sailor soldiers has a unique elemental power and is named after a planet in our solar system amy um actually i have never seen sailor moon and i don't think that it's named after a planet i mean it's right there in the title which is correct yeah yeah uh you don't have to think oh i think it's through too hard uh yeah the moon is not a planet not a planet uh that's good but go ahead stuff do you have a something out here oh yeah um actually uh i guess amy won that there is actually there is actually a second thing wrong actually they've never i've never heard them called soldiers they're called scouts i've seen them actually soldiers is a more correct translation of the word senshi which is now officially translated by viz media as guardians which is uh scouts is out um actually i've only heard of them be referred to as sailor scouts one um actually so even though i don't know anything and i can't interpret anything that was just said did i win yeah you did you didn't still have the right answer we're not going to give her the point just because she that knew more because [Laughter] you were first to the past i'll give you that point uh i will say the the other thing that i would have accepted here is also uh sailor pluto if you want to see the pluto's no longer a planet uh so technically i guess two of them um actually isn't there a debate going on about that it has actually been reopened uh amy you still get the point for that all right we will move on to our next question in the poem jabberwocky by lewis carroll we learn of fearsome creatures like the jubjub beast the bandersnatch and the titular jabberwock it despite its purported ferocity someone beheads it with a simple swish swash of his vorpal blade i just got very offended that was me being offended not excited um actually the sword the vorpal sword or also in the poem it's also called the vorpal blade makes the sound a snicker snack that is correct i was not expecting an emotional response like that namesake i mean that's my persona because that's my real last name but vorpal it has an h in it and in german it actually means boundary pole um so so lewis carroll made up this world this word and i just coincidentally was born into the vorpal family snicker snack is an odd sound for a sword to make we can agree on that right yeah um lewis carroll was arguably on drugs when he wrote any of alice in wonderland actually i'm pretty sure he was yeah i don't know if anyone has argued the other way anytime anyone was a freshman in a drama program they would call me in like you had to recite the jabberwocky poem as like the first that was like your rite of passage yeah like it was the first get into your freshman recite the jabberwocky well that is uh that's another point for amy uh next uh questions about uh lord of the rings lord of the rings question frodo first gains possession of the one ring during bilbo baggage's 100th birthday where bilbo announced that he would be leading the shire um actually it's his 111th birthday that's correct yes it is it's his eleventh first it is there it is uh that is it is more correct but i'm not going to give it to you uh yes 111th 11th birthday uh that is uh that is the answer question didn't even finish um that's a point for emma here um this is a dungeons and dragons related questions just sit outside one of the strangest and most memorable monsters in dungeons and dragons is the gelatinous cube a mindless transparent knee-high cube gelatinous ooze that absorbs and digests everything on its path um actually there's no way it's knee-high it's definitely i i don't know the exact dimensions but it's it's definitely takes up like like a five five by five by five foot uh it's bigger it's definitely bigger than that yeah oh yeah um actually it's a thigh size it's a thought yeah it's not it's a little higher than knee high just goes to thigh actually i feel like it's about the size of the chair that you're sitting in so you're actually being consumed by a glass cube as we speak yeah um actually it definitely can fit a humanoid i'm gonna change it to a ten by ten by ten ten by ten is right yeah do you feel like it's a it's a fun monster to include in a campaign to to encounter it's just one of those things that you have to fight it also is pretty creative when you think back that like i think it survived several additions like it transcends additions in dna back to first edition or is it that i don't i don't i feel like maybe it's one second sharks um something today cubes go back to first edition uh i didn't want to include this detail cause it's like well this is like deep deep lore that no one's gonna know but i found it very silly so i just want to share with you the fact that apparently in at least a campaign or perhaps a some novelization there is a named uh uh gelatinous cube uh named glabagool uh who i was hoping his name was just gonna be like fred yeah [Music] dungeons and dragons movie there will be a gelatinous cube named fred uh great that is uh that's another point for amy and this brings us to our first shiny question of the game shiny questions are like shiny pokemon and that they're worth the same amount of points they're just a little bit different and a little bit rare so this is a game called a book by its cover what we've done on the other side of these boards there are six book covers from which we've removed the title and the author uh and it'll be up to you to see if you can identify the book from its cover whoever can identify the most will get the point let's flip those over let's take a look at those book covers [Music] we'll start with amy amy what have you got here okay so first up uh-huh we've got jurassic park by michael crichton mm-hmm or dr michael creighton we forgot totally forgot about authors oh you don't have to fill in the author the title is fine i thought you said i said we removed the author just because i didn't want to give it a thing but i'm just looking for the titles okay and no extra credit damn it okay this is what i live for is extra credit um okay so this next one i don't know what's on it i'm getting i got vibes of an airship which to me that's golden compass this is dune i i didn't know the author so i wrote david lynch frank herbert okay and then the next one i knew it was stephen king i didn't know the title so i what did i write i wrote oh the movie where kevin spacey plays the snarky cat that's nine lives and then the the next one is a goosebumps book by rl stein i didn't know the the title so i wrote the dummy did it okay and then the next one um is the iron giant and i also didn't know the author so i wrote walt disney okay i you think you got two here you got two correct uh so let's uh let's roll to emma let's uh see what you right here so uh yeah the first one is jurassic park uh next to that yeah it looks like just kind of a marble lost in space so i wrote um help my plane got stuck in this marble the other cover there people are saying dune i think i had a different cover for dunes so i just wrote we're [ __ ] lost bro uh the bottom one is pet cemetery the one in the middle is a goosebumps book specifically it is night of the living dummy i think uh and then the last one is the iron giant uh you got three correct here great uh and so now we'll go to steph let's see what you got ta-da so we have jurassic park uh-huh um i put around the world in 80 days that's a very good guess so my book cover of dune is very different but i put this as dune because it looks like a sand worm chasing lady jessica and paul um i said pet seminary um goosebumps uh-huh and then iron giant everyone gets the iron giant i'm glad that we all either got it right or wrong um i think you also got three correct here i'll go to the right answers and you can you can check my math here make sure i didn't i didn't miss a sign any points can i ask yes the first one it's freaking lost world uh it is jurassic park i was like this is a trick question i could have been very cruel and done that but i was cover all i i was like [ __ ] yes sand but yeah pet cemetery night of living dummy and uh the last one would you all guessed it as the as the iron giant as i robot you know what it needed it was will firing a pair of photon torpedoes down to two meter wide thermal exhaust port located at the end of the station's meridian trench in rogue one we learned that this chain reaction causing achilles heel was placed there deliberately by engineer galen erso actually i think the the distance of how wide it was of the things that he shot is not correct that is correct okay um actually i'm going to say meridian trench is wrong uh no that's that's correct okay great you said hers was correct uh that's correct in that it is not it is not incorrect the the two meters is right yes that's that's confusing i shouldn't hurt it that way that's not me yes uh go ahead um actually it's not photon torpedoes that's correct can you be more specific i'll give you the point anyway but not be you don't have to know more i just wanted to know if you could like if you could just like you know give you know do that extra is it laser beams it's not laser beams though does anyone know i'll still give you us but but like this is remembering being awake you can like see how like police interrogations work you're like do i know yeah that i think i know am i lying is this a whole show about gaslighting while hogwarts is perhaps the best known magic school harry potter fans know that there are many other magic schools in other countries in harry potter and the goblet of fire we meet students from the scandinavian durmstrang institute and the bobatons academy of magic an all-female school in france um actually i think dermstrong is russian uh it is scandinavian actually yeah it's very it's very like verbs yeah yeah but no it's uh it's it's scandinavian yeah yeah um actually and this might just be a pronunciation thing it's term strength strangers okay cool i'm just making sure it's spelled with a name i appreciate that because yeah they spelled with an a someone's gonna yeah that's that's not what we're going for here uh actually i'm just gonna say that hogwarts isn't the best known magic school look that's a subjective thing i i guess i can't say you're right but i think that for most people your average uh your average muggle i think if you ask them to name a magic school hogwarts yeah steph um actually it's not all female that's correct yeah uh it wasn't nice it's not the most popular i mean they had the female uh player sure and the and madame in the movies it's perhaps the case that that that durmstrang is all male and and bobatons is all females at the wizarding world of harry potter when they dance it's all men with sticks and then the one girl that comes out in the body suit and does all the flips yeah yeah it's highly recommend wizarding world of harry potter but but yes in the books it's actually uh they're uh it is it is said yeah there's explicitly mentioned um that there's a girl from durmstrang uh and uh it's also said that parvati patel goes on a date with a bobatons boy i'm just glad that got to do something because mostly she just kind of exists i think somebody did the math recently and like most the majority of the asian characters have less than four lines across seven books yeah that will change but there's also a whole lot of white people in those uh fantastic base movies yeah yeah yeah look i know argument here i don't know mike help us i can't remember we're going to fix all problems on this show called um actually i like to imagine that dumbledore sent out rejection letters just just to like just because like you don't even apply it's just sort of like all right you all get the things and then we just material buddy like well that's what i mean spoiler that's why petunia was so angry because she didn't because she was rejected and herself and her sister in defense of petunia she was charged with giving harry potter life and keeping him alive with the guard the guard being put over her house and you know what she stuck to it yeah you know you know say what you will about petunia but that [ __ ] did not let harry potter die she did it's a very low bar but she did cross it i love imagining like some wizard out there is just like like ron's like trying to decide between the hogwarts and ucla and that's like one's really close in the magic school the other's like i don't know maybe i'll go to another country that'd be fun sure they got a good science program uh well that was uh that was over steph right three two three three two three great area [Laughter] the anime akira famously ends with a sequence in which teenager tetsuo's newfound psychic powers grow beyond his control causing his body to expand and envelop everything around it as he becomes a giant amorphous fleshy mass that is finally stopped by the creation of a psychic singularity which destroys tokyo um actually i don't know anything about anime so i'm gonna say it's not tokyo you're actually that is actually you're actually correct can you i'll give you the point unless someone has something it's an asian city so we'll say hong kong okay that's not correct but uh if someone can buzz in with the correct answer um actually it's neo tokyo that sorry we're sorry were you i couldn't tell for you if you had no hearthstone baby to the core and i've been made fun of by all of y'all magic people my brother is very disappointed in me right now because he actually won a scholarship playing magic the gathering is like a championship i guess i'll finish to say that i enjoy hearthstone much more just like because i i i can't really sell in my own heart i i hated um the like accumulating mana and for no other reason but the the mechanic of just being like one new man at every turn and like the game just ramps up it's like that's such an easier mechanic just try to beat the rng the random number generation it's so it's so much fun to play those cards that are like [ __ ] it this yeah and then like anything there's also what it completely removes is uh the worst thing about playing magic or any of these kind of collectible card games is when you get into the argument of like this thing takes effect before this thing so again you don't get to do that because like the stupid like rules lawyering oh i was gonna say the worst part about it because i have played before is like a a shitty dude looking at across from you and like being like mad that you're a girl just mad that you're yeah i guess i haven't had that as much [Laughter] is because like this deck master thing's on the bottom of every magic card and it looks like i will never forget it serves no purpose it's just like why is this here it's like dad just a deck master yeah and maybe it builds your confidence like wow i'm a duck master every time you see it or it intimidates foes because all you have to do is like be like ooh and you show the bottom of the card and it's like yes i'm the duck man damn i thought i was a deck master but i'm playing against another jack master unfortunately no points uh for any of our deck about the hunger games the hunger games takes place in a post-apocalyptic version of north america now called pan am as the simplification of pan america steph it's not called pan am it's called pan m the state of the hunger games couldn't just life happen i mean i think the very existence of it is a sort of apocalyptic scenario itself uh the social world that they're living in whether or not it was some cataclysmic event or not um actually yes it is called pan am but it's not specifically an abbreviation for pan america that's correct uh do you know do you know what it is i'll give you the point regardless but do you know do you know what it is um pan pan emerits of the north america pan-amsterdam yeah uh pan m comes from uh panamet circensis which is a latin phrase which means bread in circuses well that makes sense yeah there you go a little on the nose for pam to be like we'll call ourselves uh bread in circuses but also there was a baker named peta so i don't know if i can really criticize too much other things i know one would think with a baker named peta that like gail would be in the like windmill business well great well we'll give that point to emma uh who's muscled her way in uh to that one thank you this is a uh comics question comic books are the difficult challenge of conveying sound with words particularly difficult feat when depicting sounds of fictional actions and devices this has led to some iconic onomatopia including snict the sound of wolverine's claws the sound of nightcrawler teleporting and thwhip the sound of spider-man's webbing oh um actually the only one that isn't right is foof yes does anyone know what was the what was the thing for foof it's a night crawler teleporting i'll say i'm very happy to hear guesses about what you think the sound [Laughter] blam is not far off uh fliff is a little farther um actually i'm going to go blam bam is actually pretty close uh but i'll i'll give it to amy for very very uh quickly identifying that foof is wrong um would be a crazy sound for teleportation i think that's a great noun the sound is uh bamf uh spelled the same way b-a-m-f so it's an onomatopoeia for like a tuba blast [Laughter] if god if you if your power was you could teleport but a tuba blasted every single time bamf is a very aggressive teleportation yeah i feel like yeah it would be nice it's like yeah but it's not as intimidating you could go like true okay and then like but with proof you can sneak up on people yeah [Applause] well uh that is a point for um for amy and this brings us to the last shiny question of the game this is a game called where am i [Music] on the other side of these papers we have a series of maps these are maps from uh fantasy worlds sci-fi worlds fictional worlds we'll go one at a time flipping these over uh the first uh first person to buzz in for each of these and identify where we are based on the map we'll get oh we'll get a sort of tally all right let's go ahead and take a look at that first map where am i um actually yes uh this is a mateus's world red wall this is red wall go ahead and flip our next one where am i amy i'm sorry i'm gonna react like this every time i'm actually this is skyrim this is skyrim yes amy's very quick on the buzzer yeah yeah look out go ahead and flip over the next one oh oh this is middle earth this is middle iron middle you gotta throw that in there at least somewhere all right flip over your next one where am i this one's maybe a little bit of a deeper cut total guess um actually this is the world where the robert jordan books take place that is incorrect but that's a good guess we did have that in a previous uh iteration of this well i'm actually i is this a i'm actually this might be a brandon sanderson book it's not okay i have the same strategy if we look hard enough look i'm very generous if you get close i'm usually like sure fine oh great well the the painted dragon of the west that classic book another dragon all right this this is uh baz lag this is china meieville's new krobazon books i don't know if you're familiar with them at all uh it's a little bit of a deep cut but no you know what you got to throw some hard ones in there at the easy ones you said a lot of impressive words all right go ahead and flip over our next one where is this what is going on here um actually is this a uh forgotten realms it is yes it is can you be more specific or um well it's like what forgotten realms is it's a dungeons and dragons world created by ed greenwood yeah this is so this is faerun's okay yes sorry sorry but i will see i also forgot i'll say forgotten realms is close enough awesome um amy you're amazing we've got one more here go ahead and flip it over see if you can play this one i think if you don't recognize it immediately you probably don't know it okay i'm actually yes there was a book i think it's called samurai where an uh like an englishman has to assimilate into a japanese culture you're talking about uh tom cruise in the last samurai might not be called samurai actually are they about shogun shogun yeah because pretty sure that's just actual japan it is minority i don't know japanese and so cocaine we'll go ahead and call it then let's say last minute this is the map of moomin valley i don't know if you're familiar with the moomin trolls uh this is a uh like a sort of kids book uh thing of scandinavian virgin maybe but not like troll hunters no they're these like very simply drawn uh adorable little trolls do they have glowing gems in their navels they do not they're more they're almost like hippopotamuses they're like these like uh when i was putting these together my wife was actually she's like i loved the movement trolls when i was a kid and it was like i don't know how widely this is known but maybe i don't know what it is this whole exercise it's like a book recommendation yeah it might be one of those things like once you see it it's like i've seen this like on like we're like around like one of those things just seeps into your consciousness advertised at me on an instagram ad yeah we saw you about a pepsi so maybe you like moomin trolls final count then amy uh identified three got red wall skyrim and uh faerun forgot realms uh emma you you were fast in there on that middle earth uh uh so amy uh we'll claim the point for this shiny question [Applause] all right five four three we have one more question here and our final question as always concerns real life skills these are these are not things to do with anything that any of the stuff i'm talking about just things that might be valuable for the real world while there is no cure for the common cold there are things you can do to alleviate symptoms and speed recovery like drinking water gargling salt water and eating foods with vitamin c steph gargling salt water doesn't cure actually uh nothing cures but that is something that will help uh alleviate symptoms actually vitamin c is preventative it does not help alleviate symptoms that's correct all right correct uh there's inconclusive evidence that vitamin c will do anything once you have a cold there's there's conflicting evidence that it might help preventatively uh but the most that vitamin c will do would be if you were taking it ahead of time to help you keep from getting a cold but once you've got that cold don't worry about that yeah when i grow up my dad it was my whole entire family because my my grandma sells them it's got some pyramid scheme going on and vitamins and anyway he like growing up he made us swallow about 15 a morning like and and we got to the point where it'd be like okay like so i can swallow a bunch of pills i guess is my point they're just all the wrong pills swallow a bunch of pills has a giant x-wing and a bunch of dragons around gentlemen well what is our what are our final scores here five five and three means amy and emma [Applause] and join us
