hello everybody welcome back to the next episode of city skylines here we are in the five builders one city map yes it's our turn again it's our week this week i am planning on getting out at least a couple of episodes we'll see how things go so be sure to subscribe for those don't forget as well to subscribe to the other people that are playing it it's five builders one city so don't message me saying why has there been no episodes for four other weeks that's because there's five of us we passed the save around we all have a go and that is the idea whoa look at that fire up there so what's happened since i last got the save it's now switcheroo for round two so we've all changed areas this is where i started down here remember this little forestry area that we put in and that's all been working nicely zardes took over my area so he's come over here and he's added all of this on the other side of the river so he had his original build sort of area here he's now flipped over and done this side which is what we started to look at here loads of people using his whoa zooming in losing his use this train station the buses oh look at that look at the people using that path why why are we not adding are we on unlimited money doesn't matter does it you could have you could add park stuff on the end of that and make tons of money look at that brilliant so zardis has built all of that um city planner plays uh has also had the map before me now i haven't seen his videos yet because you know that's the way we're recording so i believe let's have a look at my list here he's taken over the area from the timeista which is over here i think we're getting an auto save that means a quick sip of tea there we go and he's built this so i'm looking forward to seeing the videos but there's like a a cool or mine going on down here i like that a lot i like it a lot fantastic and he's built this area over here causing all sorts of traffic oh my goodness me maybe we'll dive in with a little traffic fix here and actually it's not too bad it's not too bad um i don't have no de-spawning on like normal because i don't think the city would cope with it and i don't really want to go around fixing everybody's builds uh you know we're building with vanilla walls so let's stick with the vanilla walls this is looking nice i like this industrial looking place with all of this going on over here as well very cool we've got like a regional at the highway a regional road here some rail networks going on this is looking good i like this i'm looking forward to watching the videos when this comes out and then i'm taking over the area from imperial jedi so that is this area over here so looking at this what are we gonna do i'm just trying to get my head around what's been done in here so i think the imperial jedi hasn't had yeah this is his build and he hasn't had it since so anything i'm adding on here is after his first run so we've got like a farming area over here which looks very cool i'm liking that yeah very good we've got this housing sort of block here so all sorts of different things going on lots of grids but interesting grids i like these houses just popping up in the middle here something slightly different very nice so that's looking good so we'll take a look around this area it's a low residential there and then we've got like a very burnt down industrial section set up here what i would like to do first of all is to help with that is i'm going to plop one of these down i'm pretty sure we don't have a fire firewatch tower anywhere and i want to cover the whole of this area i'm just going to pop that there like so that's going to cover all of that and then i'm hoping we've got some fire helicopter depots around here somewhere uh the yeah the helicopter version oh the fire coverage in here is horrendous what are you doing man so we've got a couple of the normal ones down here um where is a water source got water here and we've got water there so i'm thinking if we could maybe have them over here yeah that will do where the industry area is so they won't mind about the noise they can pick up from there and then they can fly over and put out any they're off already let's see where these guys are going ah fantastic they're heading over here to start putting out the fires we have on these trees well done that's going to take a while if you're literally going to tip the whole bucket on one tree but anyway hopefully they'll get that sorted out soon great that's good the traffic in this area let's just have a quick look is interesting we've got a round about well what would that be how many sizes that two four six eight octagonal about octabout hey how about that which is just busy actually that's not too bad i was just gonna pop on here i don't think we have like giveaway signs and things coming on no so i'm gonna do the whole of that which i think will help out yeah so control shift left click we'll just do that there so that's going to give it all dedicated turning lanes give it give way signs coming on we've actually got buses on this but it's not a traditional roundabout so that's no problem that's no problem we've got plenty of turning lanes people can pick their lane when they come in so there's no nodes in between it's not a problem i think that'll just help that move a little bit more smoothly just want to check how many buses are on this red line as well let's just take a quick look oh now which which one of these is it going to be this one here so bus line number six and bus line number five so five vehicles seven vehicles on this one with only 85 people on it i think we're gonna drop that one down let's drop that one down to three and that was bus line six and it was bus line seven as well 167 people on this one most of those buses aren't that full up so i'm going to drop that down as well just by a few just so we're less likely to see oh we've jumped over here less likely to see them all sort of staggering up next to each other but yeah let's look at that it's clearing that up already nicely fantastic uh this little road down here i think it's because we've got traffic lights on here which i'm not entirely sure we need to be honest it's not that busy is it do you know what i might just take those out we can do a bit of there we go a bit of dedicated lanes and that will help with that and then you know oh we got electricity not connecting there no that's fine and the only other part that i was going to take a look at was over here what we've got going on here is a storage right opposite our cargo train terminal and it was earlier on just causing a bit of a problem with the traffic there now what i would perhaps do with that just a tiny little change because that is like right opposite where it goes in and out so what i would do is i would just grab i want it to still fit in there so i'm gonna grab our this one here we're going to come down let's come down like that so we got a dedicated turning lanes coming out which is good and i'm hoping that is going to fit this way it will not light up against there so we're going to do that so they can still get in and out nearby we've got the movement mod so i'm just going to move that down a bit and i'm just going to move that up a bit like that let's just connect up our power again so nobody's crying over lack of power there we go so now the entrance is over here as opposed to right here opposite there and you've still got the nice cool look of it all lining up right next to each other so we'll give that a go anyway cool okay so i need to now just put a little bit of thought into what am i gonna do on this area over here so give me a second and i'll be right back with you okay so i was just reading through the notes from city planner plays and he discovered that he could turn despawning off and the road network would hold up perfectly well but what would be a problem is the rail network so why don't we run the game let's just take a look at this that is basically what we've got so far if i move it over this way and you know that's pretty good there's a few red spots but it's just oh jumpy game they're just a bit busy yeah that's just that's backing up a little bit i i'm i've got my down so i'll tell you what we're going to do we're going to turn so at the minute despawning is on this is normal vanilla mode that's how the game works i'm going to turn it off no despawning hard mode bigger traffic jams i'm going to leave the game like this we're going to run it for a couple of minutes there we go and we're gonna see how bad the traffic gets i will be right back [Music] [Music] well let's take a look what do you think the percentage is let's just pause the game and find out let's come out of that screen and it is 78 do you know what that isn't too bad that isn't too bad at all we've got a few places here where it's busy but i mean that's not you know that's not backing up is it that's just busy that's just busy that's fine i'm only looking at the roads at the moment this is a bit troublesome we might come back and take a quick look at that this is all just busy busy busy no that's fine i wouldn't complain about that oh the best bit in the whole place the octagon about of course i'm joking i'm joking that's red it's just busy so do you know what that is pretty fantastic work um from everybody that is pretty fantastic work from everybody this little bit down here let's have a look what's going on here that's fine this bit here what's what's going on on this bit um it's like very busy because everyone's coming up here then they're coming up here and they're coming around here and stopping there and they can't get out because these guys are going oh look at that who remembers this junction from our very first episode it's back okay let's just do what we would normally do let's just take a look at this road where are they all trying to get to oh look everywhere let's turn these off we only want the trucks because they're the things that are on that road bonk so the trucks are trying to go left or right here have i picked the right road yeah and then some of them trying to get back on the highway so you know what we could do is here this bit we are going to change that to an asymmetric road because this these here are holding on everybody whether they want to go left or right so we're going to do that so they can go left or right we're going to change there's no giveaway signs or anything no and what i'm going to do is i'm actually going to do that all the way back to here so they can that's the wrong way around hang on i've got one of these the wrong way around somewhere that's two going out two going out one coming in yeah that's right and then what i'm gonna do is i'm gonna say no lane switching in between those segments because what that will do is force them still feel like i've got one of these the wrong way around hang on a sec that's fine so what that that'll do is that'll force them to pick their lane here and then we can have two lanes of left or right and then they can choose where they're gonna go so that might take a little bit of time because what's happening now is this car here look he's gonna go i'm sorry you're holding up everybody and hopefully as they move forward they'll start picking different lanes we'll see i'm not going to mess with that anymore we've messed with that enough but the main problem we've got is if we just take a look is our train lines look at the train lines backing up backing up rocking up all the way out the map and these are actually all coming in aren't they so if we pick one of these and see where they're going yeah they're all coming in so the thought has been that we separate our cargo and yeah because look these are all passenger trains well most of them is the odd cargo one in there and then when they come down here that splits off to be cargo and comes back on again but then these are all coming through and getting caught up and these are blocking out because they're trying to come in so basically yeah this has just caused a complete uh train jam let's just follow the train line along so these are all coming down trying to get in and can't you've got somebody there with no water and let's just give you some water there we go where were we yeah there we go so the train line down here is all blocked up this is all blocked up yeah it's all getting blocked up right so where do we start i'm thinking we can start down here somewhere and just take a look at what's happening so where does this train want to go he said he wants us to carry on down here but he can't that can't go because this guy's coming in so what i'm thinking here is we're going to delete actually let's before we do that let's get our giveaway signs see normally i would say give way to this one coming on but actually it's this one here that's causing the problem he's crossing over so i'm gonna do giveaway there and then we're gonna delete that so he should now keep going this one you can go you can go through there's nothing stopping you from going i think the game is bought they're all like we don't know what to do there we go right they're going now so anybody coming up here as that's on the other side of the track should pause like this guy oh he's not going up there so that's fine so that'll keep them going and then what i would also do is do the same uh here yeah so like he shouldn't have gone through there so it's almost like give way signs but the other way around i'm not 100 how successful that's gonna be yeah you see they just totally ignored it and he's gone in even though he can't get in darn it okay that's not gonna work okay so the other option then is to do a totally separate cargo and passenger rail network and this is the way i would do it i would save the game as it is now and we will use this mod let me show you that i've got on here uh csl map view mod so this is gonna give us a nice overview map view of all of our saved games so we have to save the game so let me just do that i'll open it up and i'll show you what we're gonna do there we go so what we now get is this we get a nice um view of the map and we can easily zoom in let's just pick a spot say over here there we go so we can follow the train line round and we can see where all of the different train stations are uh we've got a nice all the names for the areas and all sorts of other things going on here but that's what we're going to concentrate on so i'm going to go through this map i'm going to put on here a c for cargo a p for passenger on all the different stations that we have and then we'll see what is going to be a nice cool way for separating our cargo and passenger lines and here we go so you can see now where the passenger trains where the cargo trains are so we've got one passenger train station i should say up there another one here comes through to one down there branches off to one over here that goes to outside obviously these go to the outside as well in here is a particularly busy place we've got the two i believe it was zadas built those two opposite each other with all the different rails in and then this one comes off that's actually a i can't remember what it's called cargo harbor the one that's got the train line built in and yeah then these two and this one over here so i don't think it's going to be too complicated to separate out the passenger line from everything what i'm thinking of doing is because we've got one two three four connections is i might just bring a line in parallel to these on each side and connect it up to this disconnect these yeah i'm just thinking what's the best thing to do because obviously we've got a lot of stuff going on here let me make a start let's dive back into the city we'll make a start and then we'll sort of see how we go but yeah that's what we've got so far so we can see what we've got to work with yeah so there we go that's the way we were looking at the map so we know we've got a line coming in up here and if we actually zoom out along this line look we can see how backed up this thing is uh unfortunately we do have the fog all the way along the end here because there is something i'd like to do let's just see if i'm able to with the move it mods yeah so sometimes what happens as well when you have despawning turned off and it obviously affects your trains as well is this node here between where's it gone let me move it mod gone move it mod come back i'm pressing n instead of m this node here is not far enough away from the end so comfortably have space for trains to come in and out without getting in the way of each other so i tend to sort of shift these all up a little bit here like this there we go and give this first node where they change well it's here now instead of being down here is up here so we've got a lot more room to come in and out of the map so if we find let's leave that on pause if we find the other ones for those that was power here we go here's another one so again you can see the node barely longer than the train so let's just do the same thing here there we go plenty of space fit a couple of trains into there let's carry on round here we go here's the one that runs along the bottom of the map so the reason i'm moving all of them up is you don't want the other nodes too close together as well that can cause problems but yeah give plenty of space for that and then looking at my map we've got one on the right hand side as well so let's just go and find that one there it is so let's do the same here there we go so you can see instead of the crop what's weird is when they come in and out of the city the line that goes in the now past the last node is flipped from this one here so they don't go straight in and out which is a bit weird so they'll crop you can see the crossing over there but now they'll cross crossover up here just helps things move a bit until they hit the traffic that's coming in and out of the city so what we could just do is if we delete that train and delete that train yeah anyway i think we need to do more than just do that don't we we need to we need to fix all the things so that is one looking at my map too there's one at the top over here did we get that one oh i tell you what it is i'm looking at the map long way around yep that's all the nodes all sorted so maybe let's just start up here with this line and i'm going to run i mean we can sort of just branch it off from anywhere along here it doesn't really matter and then run that alongside what we've got here so far and i'm going to do that for all four lines i mean i could just use the parallel mod and just redraw the whole thing but to be honest most of these are looking pretty straight so yeah let me do this [Music] okay so we've got a double line coming down there and then what you can do is um actually that's a little bit closer out of it here is we're going to have that go into there and then depending on how you want to set this up you've got two choices let's just say for instance that this one was the passenger and this was the cargo if you only have passenger stations on this train only passenger uh trains will go down there that didn't connect up did it because i've turned that off um and then if you've only got cargo trains on this line at cargo train stations only cargo trains will go down there that is one way to split them the other way if you have traffic manager available is to use this little tool here the vehicle restrictions thank you uh click let's click that again there we go so we can click this rail there let's try that again there we go and we can say we only want passenger going down there on each side let's just change that there we go only passenger down that one and then this one here we can say let's do it this way we only want cargo so there we go so you can do it like that if you want i'm gonna leave these like that for now until we've definitely worked out what we're gonna do so let me just add two lines coming in on each of our external connections and then i'll be back with you okay so i've got double lines now coming in from the outside in every direction they're not actually all hooked up we'll have to go back and hook those up and what i'm thinking of doing is to set this up like this we've got this cargo one down here which comes up and loops all the way around and goes back on is to leave that junction for that but we see we've got this one come up here goes to a passenger one so if we have the passenger one as this outside one here it means we don't have to do too much changing of this so let us just delete that little bit there i'm going to put row guidelines back on that back on and node snapping back on and then what we can do is uh we can have that carry on through here as soon as i do that i want to turn up low guidelines together we have this carry on through here like this i haven't got these lined up perfectly but it is what it is and this one is then going to connect back up to this again when it comes round and then this is going to go up and over the top here and we'll sort something out in a minute so let's just see if i can get this continue up over the top and then that could come around like that we'll look at the uh we'll look at the slopes and things in a minute and we could just wonder whether we could just start curving that round like that and that could go like that so connecting to this rail it connects to that one instead still got the room for the trains to get underneath yeah i might just need to lift some of those up a little bit let's just grab that and that just a tiny touch and then we've got that there so that separates that passenger line here from the cargo which is coming in there and going down to this one so then our next passenger one is the main one over here and also we've got a line that comes down to one in here so if we just find that there's the line there it is down here excellent so that one's going to come up there comes up joins this one well already we're going to have that join a separate track aren't we instead of joining this main track so let's just delete this bit here like so let's grab our oh yeah traffic was 81 by the way if i didn't mention that before i thought i did but maybe i didn't um so if we just sort of come around up with this one and then we can connect this one now to that line there we go so that's now separate from the cargo one just checking all my nodes are all okay and then that needs to come up here and connect to the one we've just done on our main on our main drag so let me just run this up okay so now we've got here the split off for the cargo and the two cargo and this cargo so that's fine and this line here is our main one that's still connected to the cargo so this needs to come down and connect up to here i'm just thinking how we can do this so let us there's no good way to do everything all at once because the lines are going to cross over and i'm going to have them entirely separate there's no point trying to trying to make this work if we're not going to just keep the whole lot separate so i am gonna delete that just so i can grab this node over here and this one is gonna come straight through here to there and then it's gonna go up and over this one oh actually we've got that bridge there haven't we i'll tell you what instead of up and over why don't we go down can we fit getting underneath this one here come on game you can do it i'm pressing page down like there's no tomorrow there we go i'll turn off anarchy as well at least we know we're not going to get it too yeah there we go we'll come back and have a look at that that's going to go there and then it's going to come back to alongside here so that is now our other line okay and then that has got to connect to this one so that shouldn't be too difficult what i would do is i would just keep this one as it is and run this one alongside here so let's do that lots of opportunity if anyone wants to come and do any detailing around these lines i mean i am literally putting them in quite quickly because there's a heck of a lot to do now do i want to go up and over the top did you know what we could do because this one's going to go up and over the top so let's get these lined up the same here do like a good bridge so let's go up there we go that's a lot better so that now connects to the outside here goes along jumps over the top slopes down the other side not too bad and this is our passenger line here separate from the cargo one behind it's then gonna swing around here go underground let us just adjust this slightly where's the first node if i do that so it goes down a little bit more we don't get that weird lumpy bump above the ground there we go and it comes out over here so let's just do the same there we can actually drop this next one down a little bit as well there we go we'll do the same over here just so it doesn't feel like it's disappearing underground too much so that's going to come under there and that then will connect up to all of this which is what we want and then when this one goes out down this way so this is our cargo line yeah there we go so we're keeping this outside one as our passenger so this one's going to be our cargo so if we separate that from that so that's all of our cargo line and again you want this to do that there's going to be places here where you think oh why didn't you have this one as the cargo and that is the passenger but then you're going to get to the other side of the map and you're going to have to switch around the other way it's just the way it's going to be so what i'm going to do actually is i'm going to delete this and i'm going to make this fit in here so let me just give this a go and see what we can do okay so now our cargo train has got its own line coming up through here our passenger is got a separate one going up there we're gonna get a lot of confused cargo trains that might despawn but that if we follow this all the way down to the end just make sure i connected those up no i didn't so let me connect these up like this so is that the first node yeah that is the very first mode i'm actually going to connect it a little bit further down just to give the game a chance yeah there we go so he's still going to go through but this one should come off oh unless he's going to other cargo stations we haven't hooked up yet that's fine that's fine so let's keep on going let's keep on going so passenger on the right cargo on the lair passenger on the right cargo on the left cargo on the left yep excellent let's just tidy this little bit up here there we go that's okay a nice smooth turn there cool excellent right so that's this side and then it all comes out at the end here and carries on around that way now a lot what we need is a way of getting our cargo connection from here through all of this and out the other side to connect to our cargo that's here that's basically the only other one that's left there's one cargo here these ones along here and then this one up here i think i'm just missing one note that's that one there that's fine so what's going to be the best way to get our cargo route down here we've got this road here actually because it comes in here could we split this off somehow and have an extra line splitting off our cargo line coming along here coming through here just thinking how we would do that because they're coming up and going down so they're only coming one way in and out of this whoa out of this setup anyway which is down here they're not coming out the top anywhere and these ones that are coming down this cargo line we're only ever going one way anyway it's a bit of an interesting setup a shame i can't have a line come in the top so it almost seems to me like we don't need to connect this cargo one with these ones because this cargo can come in and out of the city over here and i'm pretty sure that isn't the best way to do it i'll be honest because quite often you'll have cargo that needs to go within the city you know the different little villages hamlet cities that we've got from one side to the other and at the minute they couldn't do that and they couldn't do that before anyway so let's grab this line here what i'm gonna do is i'm gonna split it off here and then this line goes up this way which heads on up here just to a passenger train station so if we yeah we'll split it here okay so that's now connecting to our passenger lines if we follow it around here round up there through here connects to that that's good and then we can bring our cargo line here which we've just disconnected from all of that i'm just going to move the move it mod just a little bit to give us a little bit of space there so we go like that and then that can just basically run off i mean whoever works on this area could sort of let's have it going behind the trees there maybe that's a little bit of a sharp turn let's go like this okay so i've just run this over the top here we've lost one commercial building which i think is okay across the river at what would be the shortest shortest point curved around here and then it's connected back up along here so as before if anything coming up from this line as we can see this guy here is going to do he can choose to go up and right to our cargo stations this direction he can go straight through here up into these two or he can branch off like he's done here and let's just see where he would be going so he's going down our new route all the way up here to this new cargo station which is fantastic now that doesn't solve the problem of them getting from this side of the city to that side because they can basically only leave but other than putting a humongous junction in here i mean we could have it depends how busy this gets to be honest we could swing like that's the one going up we could swing a bridge off over the top here and come under here or underground i mean it depends how realistic you want to get i've got to be honest for me i would do something like this let's maybe come out like that yeah don't worry i'll set all these up again page down until it gets underneath swing that round underneath like that then we'll have a bit coming up again and then that can go there so now trains coming from this direction could swing around and go that way one's coming from that way you can swing around and go the other way and that is all the cargo coming backwards and forwards that way separated from everything else and let's just plug that back in again because we're using power lines so that's that one and then let's just have a quick look at my map but then the only other cargo one that we've got is that was it wasn't it yeah that was the one excellent so let's just follow where this line goes so now we've got this cargo line comes up here that then comes down out this way so now we've got to decide about separating our cargo and passenger that way and then it comes up and connects to that one there and then this passenger one comes up around here to that passenger line which is fine so it's a lot of jiggery pokery i'm just wondering whether what do i want here what i want here i want this to connect to that i think and i also want it to connect to this line somehow which goes up along there so maybe if we branch off of here let's just grab our train line so i'm trying to get up here to this one so if we branch off turn that off there we go we can branch off like this let's just go to there and then we'll go down to ground level so we could swing that round here that can come all the way alongside the road i'm thinking we're going to make this our passenger line that would just make in my mind the most sense and then we'll keep this one as our cargo one because that connects up to there all that sort of thing and that can come in and out to via that line go all the way through over here and do all that good stuff uh that one goes up there and then the only other way we want this to go is do we need that to connect to down here i'm thinking of later on if we start putting builds and stuff in here we want to make sure that everyone can get everywhere that's normally the way i would set it up obviously i'm sort of retro fitting this so how about we branch off here so we branched off once to go that way see ideally you'd like a nice connection from here to here as well to get across is that going to be too much oh let's see what we can do if we go across like this it's not too bad actually and then if we just use the move it mod to move that around a tiny touch uh we've got these bridges under here we can monkey with those a bit that's fine and then we can just maybe adjust that yeah i don't think that's too bad i don't think that's too bad that gets in there the road goes underneath so now coming from this way you could go straight over over into this section you could come up to here and you can go back around so it's that nice triangle the only one that's not connected in all different directions is this one so i'd like to get this connected over [Music] here so now you can go both ways in that direction i think that's it so what i want to do i'm just going to go around all the four sides of the map make sure i've got those all connected up then we'll see if it works yep just while i'm checking this bottom one here that comes round to our passenger station again has only got access from the top so i want to give that access in both directions and that's good because this passenger one is right here so we're gonna have to have a really slow sort of oh let's do okay let's turn these off here oh road guidelines is off i tell let's just turn them all off yeah there we go have a really slow sort of turn about for the train here like this to join that one over there that is like the wonkiest winkiest thing i've ever seen in my life hang on let me see if i can do any better okay there we go that's much better so they can get in and out from this outside map connection as well which is what we want so yep fantastic and here we go so this is the last one to hook up which is fine and it's far enough away from the starting node so that should be it i'm hoping i haven't made any mistakes uh all the rails might not necessarily be lined up perfectly but we're gonna go with that for now so what i'm gonna do is i am actually going to clear the traffic which is this one here there we go that's done that is on nose despawning so i am now going to let this run for five or ten minutes on full speed and what we should see let's find the outside rail line over here we should see there so passengers went along that way and then any cargo comes in should come down this way if we just keep an eye on this for a second or two here comes another oh they're splitting off yet there we go passenger down there cargo down here and that should be the same on every side hopefully if i've if i've done it all correctly they should be going on to the same line let's just check this one here anything coming up this one not just yet oh there we go oh he's spawned right on there let's see where he's gonna go so he's going straight ahead that's right it was the passenger one that was off to there off to the side let's check this one up here what have we got anybody coming in in the fog here we go what's this we've got a cargo i think that's the cargo one isn't it this one down here yeah because the passenger was the outside there's another cargo one just want to see if any passenger trains turn up not yet oh there we go passenger train yes excellent so that's it isn't it oh we've got the connection at the top here as well let's just double check this one okay oh there we go yeah passion is going on the outside which i think is the right one there we go passenger cargo separated and that should carry on all the way around here yeah that was it that was the passenger wasn't it so that should have sold our cargo issues and kept it all separate which is fantastic i might need to adjust some of the grades and the heights but i can always go through and have a look at that so yeah let me leave that running for 10 minutes i'll come back and we'll see how the trains are doing i'm not expecting the cars to be any problems because that ended up being 81 anyway so let's just give it a few minutes right let's take a look we've got 80 traffic after running it for a little while we do still have some traffic hot spots but i'm fed up fixing those they're in other people's areas but look at the trains these cargo trains these cargo trains they're all whacking into each other in this area and you can see that they're all backing up down that new line that i've put in there they're splitting off coming the right direction but they're just hitting this and it's just um a bit of a disaster now what we see here is a couple of passenger trains so this one here let's use the tool see where he's going um he actually says he's transporting passengers to rockwood that is a fictitional outside of our city boundaries outside of our map boundary city so it's choosing the quickest route um it's ignoring the fact that there you can see there look it's going all the way outside the map it's just picking the quickest route um it's not respecting the fact that there's no passenger stations on that line because it doesn't care and the same for this train this is going a different way bit the quickest route and that one's going south out of our map so what i am going to do i am going to use the traffic manager options to stop that happening and hopefully that will stop all of these backing up but some of these there's not much room for trains between these junctions i was thinking what i can do i think this junction down here that's far too close those two junctions there so i'm gonna delete this one i think and just try and sort of run it a little bit further down to give the trains half a chance to get in and out of the junction past everybody else um i want to try and respect the topography as much as i can there's there's a little hill here and i don't want to make it too sharp either um but something like that i think will just actually work okay i'll probably come back and straighten that up actually uh let's do it now let's grab the move it mod just wiggle those a little bit that should be fine i'm going to end up making that a tunnel a bit later because that is going through a bit of a hill but yeah i think that should be fine so that will help them get moving and they're all still going to be stuck so i think it might be a good idea um yeah we're going to use the traffic manager tools i'll tell you what let me do that first so definitely that bottom line is the cargo one so we'll use vehicle restrictions and we'll click yeah there we go click on the top one that's only going to be passengers so we'll turn off the cargo and then the bottom one is only going to be cargo um should we do a bit further let's do it right here that's fine we'll turn off the passengers there we go we can see no cargo on the top no passengers on the bottom so i'm gonna go around each of the map connections of the rail and do that and that will stop the train sort of cutting through like we've seen and then i will be back with you okay 10 or so minutes later look we can see it's all cleared up it's fine i made one slight alteration actually i made two over here i made this into a tunnel through this big lump lump of land and then on here this connected here so trains are coming down on the outside then cutting across to get into this one and that was just blocking everything up so i've just sort of swept that around this building this setup and it joins the other side so if anybody needs to get into there they will come up on the outside track like we can see that cargo train is go all the way through and anybody else that wants to just cut through can just cut through like that and they won't get in each other's way so that is working really really well we've got no backing up down here at all we come over here we can see all the trains taking their respective lines everything's all connected up people are coming and going in and out of here using the passenger trains no problem at all so i think that was a cool little fix and i do need to come up with an idea of what i'm going to build next over in my new area so i'm definitely going to give that some
