[Music] hello welcome back to city planner plays where we are building a brand new city in clearwater county and i want to give you a little bit of a backstory about the city and after we're done building this city we will uh go and make a couple of fixes in ashland so this city is going to be based on a logging and forestry industry and it's being started up by a former employee of the ashland farm this is jackson anderson brown and he's been working for years diligently on the farm and the reason that he's been doing this is he wants to save up to start his own business so he's saved his money and he's working with the ashland family trying to identify a plot of forested land that he can afford now there are a couple requirements for him for this area number one it has to have trees that's kind of the basic part uh number two he's really hoping to have fairly close access to a rail line and the whole reason for that is that with access to the rail line he might be able to persuade the railroad to serve his new settlement and number three since he's not going to have a rail line to start out with he needs to have access to a river to float his logs down and really that's where you'd expect to see a logging industry located near a river where you would have logs floating down it so he's not going to be able to get land that is in a prime location you know there are some very nice forested areas right over here that's not land he's getting right here this would fit his needs well he's not getting it where he's gonna get instead is way over here now let's see why this land is suitable number one it's a ways inn it's gonna be a little bit cheaper which means he could get more land and that's really important to him number two when we take a look at this dark dark dark green it can't get much better than that and then we take a look at our topography and we see that there's a nice flat area right here that he could work with and that is really the key to this being successful so the very first thing that we're going to do is get a road out to this area and we're going to follow our topography to get it here and try to maintain some sort of parallel to the rail line because this is something that jackson anderson brown is going to care a lot about so we're going to use a rural road to make our connection and we're going to do a just a basic country road we're going to go and turn on our topographic view now we see our terrain height so we want to find a reasonable place to make our connection and i think that reasonable place is going to be right here it's not ideal but if you look it goes straight up a hill and we want to get this as far back from this interchange as possible and keep it away from this slope so somewhere in the middle is going to work for us we're going to come in at a 90 so it's a safe junction and we will do some things there later to make it a little bit better so right away we're gonna have to make a fairly significant angle and start our crossing [Music] now the cheapest way to cross this river would would be to have a short span so we're actually going to take a step back from what i just did and turn we're gonna try to go in between tween trees because that would be the cheapest way to approach this clearly not gonna work 100 of the time now we need to get back here and we're to parallel this railroad just for a moment so the way that we're going to do that is we're going to use the freeform tool we'll back that out 10 tiles and now we're going to need to pay attention to our topography and make sure that we are able to cross this because we're going to have to do an upgrade cross and we don't want to do that at a hill this is probably our best location for that crossing and then we're gonna work our way back here [Music] now we're along the river and i'm gonna switch up my view a little bit so i can see what i'm doing now i want to keep i think we're gonna we're gonna take a break from this for a moment and build our road along the river and we're just gonna follow the river i don't wanna get too close to it because i don't want to disrupt the water in any way and then we'll connect our road up again at a 90 to try to make it as safe as possible so this is how you get back here it's it's a little bit convoluted but we can't just have one connection we have to have two otherwise this is a cul-de-sac so what we're gonna do is make a crossing again across the river but what we're going to do here that's a little bit different is we're going to swap out to a rural road and use that we don't want to invest a lot in this secondary access we don't want to promote this as an access that matters to the community because fluently it doesn't it's just making sure that in the case of an emergency there is a there's a a reasonable way of exiting the community doesn't mean it's a good way and i certainly don't want to promote this as a way in fact i'm going to discourage it by making it a fairly convoluted route now we need to connect somewhere up with this road i want to look for a good location and that might be on kind of a flat patch here and then we'll switch back down now i know this is way too steep so i want to stop it before i even start so i can do a little bit of fixing hmm that did not do what i was hoping that's bad that's different bad but it's still bad that is terrible all right so whoa do you see that there were cars that went flying [Laughter] all right so let's try one more thing okay i think that i can at least work with this yeah this'll this will be fine now now we'll go back into here and we're going to work our way to a connection there we are way over here so we've got a ways to go and let me just trace this over so we're up here we need to get up 20 meters that's not too bad not over this span and truthfully i'm almost wondering if i should have been taking this down sooner because it would be significantly cheaper to get this down to level ground and we know that mr brown is looking to save money so we are going to help him with that now this will be a little steeper but that's okay i don't think it's unreasonably steep so that will be our parallel route and one could take this if they wanted to i'm not sure that it would be the wisest decision if never what you were to choose to do but in the case of an emergency you'd absolutely want it so that's why we are including it [Music] okay so now we have this on a slope probably not the best way of taking care of this but it worked and we could certainly do some great fixes but i like the way that this looks so i think we're going to leave it the only thing that we're going to do is eliminate some of these trees that are growing out of the side of the cliff it could happen but i just think it would look a little bit nicer without it so there we go so we've got the start of our area we need to get utilities here so i'm noticing that we have a problem right now with sewage treatment we're gonna need to fix that when we get back to ashland um this would be totally unreasonable to uh believe that you're gonna take water from ashland but it's cities skylines and right now i don't have a mod that will allow me to create a separate water system there were some that were suggested and i very well might take some of those up right now we're not gonna worry about it we're gonna have a regional water system and uh the water utility will serve us just fine so i could cut across and try to create a new path i don't know how much i want to do that and the main reason for that is i'm going to constrain myself to that right of way in the future i'll basically be dedicating a whole bunch of right-of-way and i don't want to do that so this infrastructure project would absolutely cost more than almost anything else that's happening in the county so i don't know that this would ever i i should say i do know that this would never happen so we're just going to do this for the sake of fun [Laughter] okay so our water is connected we have this little uh treatment plant over here we're gonna need another one so i'm going to just clone that we'll probably want to create a more significant public works campus in the future but for the time being i think it makes total sense to to co-locate these in their previous location so we'll keep that there so coming from the power plant we're going to need a transmission line so we're going to go with the typical power line that city skylines offers you and i want to align that to the grid and to an angle and the thought there is you're going to want to keep these straight [Music] now i want to look at where we're going because we can cut across here at some point so here's where we're going to cut across and start to deviate from the right of way a bit it's a transmission line and these can go off the beaten path [Music] i really would love to see what i'm doing here with the topography [Laughter] yeah not that it looks like we have some remnant here from when i created this version of the map we'll get rid of that now i'm not sure how the transition between a rural power line and a transmission line would work but we're gonna give it a go anyway and i if this is totally unreasonable someone should let me know in the comments okay so now our little town has what it needs to get started so we need to paint an industry area and name our industry so let's paint this area right here and this will be the land that mr brown purchased he's going to name this the j.a brown lumber company all right so we're going to need to start out with a main industry industry area and i think we're going to start that right off from this road that i'm going to create all right and now that we have an industry area we have the ability to place a sawmill tree plantation in a small log yard but there's a couple of things i want to think about and we're going to get to those in just a second let's go ahead and add our road in place for some trees and i kind of want to follow the density of trees and then it's kind of everywhere so maybe we won't do that let's look at our topography go up and then we'll follow a topographic line and now i'm going to start out by placing a couple of free plantations and those really stick out like a sore thumb we're gonna fix that though we have a way and we're gonna do it let's get our water there first we almost have a loop system in fact we might want to just finish this loop off and loop our water and roadway system so now we don't have any cul-de-sacs perfect and the nice thing about this is this gives us the ability to connect our power up right here we can actually go ahead and eliminate some of these power lines that we put in place they're not necessary anymore so we've got this lumber company it sticks out and there's a way that we can fix it we can alt b and use bob so i want to look at the trees and i want to replace that tree with something that is available in this area so to figure that out i can use bob click on another one of these trees and it tells me that it's lp1 regular big and you can see just how many of these are in the area just by clicking around a little bit you can see that this one right here lp1 regular big is all over the place lp2 split trunk okay i think that we're going to replace this with lp one regular bag and then we will click on that and let's take a look at our handiwork it's definitely a different density but at least the trees blend in we're gonna do the exact same thing here appearance beach we do alder why don't we mix some of these up so alder conifer beech alder conifer bob so we're gonna replace this and again i think we're gonna go with the lp we'll replace these we'll replace these ones with the split trunk and then right here we can replace the beach with the full canopy actually i don't like that well let's see what this is generic large full tree okay so the other thing that we could have done if we really wanted to get into the weeds here would have been to go into bob and i know that this is made up of 50 individual trees i could have taken the time to replace each of those i don't mind that it looks a little bit um i guess the planted it's it's fine you know ultimately i just want this to look like it could exist here like it fits in and this is some native timber in the area so we have a factory but we need more or we we have we have our main industry forestry building we've got our tree plantation we need a sawmill and we need a log yard so i know that we're gonna have a lot of logs here so we're gonna place these right here right along the river where they can be stored and then we need to think about our sawmill and then a warehouse so let's get our water over here and i think for the sawmill i'm i kind of want to go across the water and the reason i want to go across the water is we're going to need a town to support this and j.a brown is going to form brownsville or at least that's what he's calling it now but the name is likely gonna change very very soon and that's because jackson anderson brown is trying to figure out a way to lure the railroad to come to his settlement you see the spurs right there and if they would just have a cargo hub here and maybe even a passenger hub he thinks that his little town would really flourish we could see some significant development here but it's not going to happen when he is miles and miles and miles away from ash so he's gonna do his best he's gonna do what he can and build this little rural town so before i bridge this i do want to again i'll put in a road over here and we're going to follow our topography we're going to end that road right there because it's kind of where our topography tells us the road has to end and then we're going to bridge over there's our nice connection no lumbers going underneath here they're not going to float it down there so there well they could try i don't know how successful they'll be in the current situation yeah let's actually do that so they could try to float this down and then we will slope this kidding we'll slope this and this and that's the way that this will occur so now they would be able to float lumber down here to their sawmill if they wanted they could store it might be a little bit cheaper than trying to drive it down uh then again that's a really old-fashioned way of doing it truthfully now we like trucks so that's what would likely happen but that would explain the historical context of this area so we are going to also build a sawmill right now i'm i'm concerned we have uh this these these couple of uh lumber yards we've got these uh forestry products being produced over here but we got five of these two of these and ultimately what that means is that we are going to have a backup eventually you can start to see these these trucks starting to come here and then i think what we're gonna do is place our sawmill right next to this uh it probably should be down river actually in in light of all the things i've been saying so we're going to place that down here and then we need a warehouse to support this as well we don't have a lot of money so we're going to use an open air warehouse we'll place a couple of those we want to make sure that we're storing the correct uh resource here that's gonna be our plane timber and then we do have water here we do have power wow that's tight so this should be operational but we don't have our people and what what else could a community need more than people so we're going to create a very small town nothing all that extravagant that's going to be focused on the the grades on this hillside i'm going to try to do it a little bit more organically than normal okay so this is the ultimate end result and we do need to fix this this is a very troubling slope so we'll just move it up a little bit and that should it's that's still problematic but it's not nearly as bad as it was we could remedy some of that by lowering this down and then sloping these objects or not we could just do this whatever this is oh there's another little note here perfect just what i was hoping for okay so this is a little community we're gonna need to break this up a little bit this is kind of a large area and i think considering that this is kind of the only note of activity what we're going to do let me think so i don't really want to destroy how straight this is i'd love to have the opportunity to create something that is fairly creates a fairly dominant corner here okay so that's a little bit better it's not perfect but this road isn't perfectly straight so it's not going to be perfect and not being perfect is not a problem so i think that we just need to accept some of those oddities every now and then they're fine they make the place feel unique that's what we're going for right so we're going to run this power line across the water and before i get too far along i want to get the city placed so foggy heights that is not what this is called although uh the game's kind of been on fire with names today you know uh aspen uh whatever it was at foggy heights i can imagine this would be foggy every now and then and he's a modest man so we get brownsville at least for the time being and one thing we're gonna want to do is set up some policies here some themes here rather we obviously want brick downtown but i think what we're also going to add to this we're going to add a number of themes we want this to be very eclectic but we don't want it to feel out of place so i'm not going to add in trailer homes or 70s and 90 homes or eclectic homes we're going to add in the slums we're going to add in historic american we're also adding victorian and big suburb and dk post war and i think this is going to give this a very dense feeling and it's going to feel very uh varied it's going to feel it's going to feel and look different than uh than clear watercraft that ashland than clearwater county all right all right so we know that we've got a significant amount of residential demand and a little bit of commercial demand we're not going to remedy all of our commercial demand today it's just not or all of our residential demand we are going to build a note of commercial that will serve as the downtown actually yeah we will build this here back that up just a little bit so we can really get a nice corner there now to fix some of this zoning i'm gonna go into the zoning toggler and get rid of zoning right there that'll tighten things up make it look nice and square i kind of want to eliminate it there as well kind of not so the reason i'm adding that road here is so that i can eliminate zoning here and it's not going to do what i wanted so i'm just going to eliminate that i wish i could add a note in here because that's what i really need to do but i think i'm gonna be okay with a little bit of oddness here so i'm gonna get rid of these couple of buildings start over call a mulligan on that and we're gonna have a we can have a path back here they can have larger yards it's a small town it's totally fine to have big yards now they are gonna need some water so let's get them some [Music] water they don't have money in this community for fancy things like a looped water system so they're not gonna get it what they do have money for is a very small rural police station which they will have just off their main drag and a small volunteer fire department which will go just on the other side of the highway you want it near the forestry industry this will work just fine and to me this feels like what you'd expect to see in a place like this some small businesses i wish that this tops barbecue looked a little bit more like this but it's okay it'll work just fine and then what we really care about here is residential i got rid of that one because it beat me to the punch if you develop too quickly city planner which brownsville wouldn't have at this point they would just kind of be a developer planning out some lands with the county and saying uh this is what we want to do uh the county would say okay we have our zoning and it's very generous uh we're not gonna really do much except enforce some small things like we don't want signage in the right of way so uh you can't sell your chickens uh eggs by placing a sign at the right of it has to be on your property but we're going to be very generous with our zoning codes so no sidewalks we're not going to we're not going to do much here in the in the way of urbanization it's going to be a free-for-all homes of different sizes homes of different uh uh footprints it's gonna be a kind of a mismatch of of of housing but you kind of expect to see that in some small rural places what you might even expect to see would be some lots that have even more significant spaces in between them than this but we don't really have a lot of space so i think it would be fairly reasonable to have this sort of development pattern occurring here now what's not reasonable is this whole town's a cul-de-sac we need one more bridge to get across because if this were to wash out because of a flooding event this whole town is in trouble so we're gonna want to get at least two ways over there whoa whoa whoa whoa i i created a damn i created a damn that could have been real bad all right so we're gonna again give this the good old slope it up treatment and i think we are in a good spot here that bridge is a pretty significant grade though line things up there we go i don't like what's happening here there's water that's kind of coming up wondering what our topography looks like i didn't really respect it just kind of uh bent it to my will so we might actually need to slope to the other side and then pull this up a little bit yeah that to me is much more fitting and now hopefully some of this flooding nonsense that we've been seeing starts to dissipate over time and it doesn't look like it's going to what i'm gonna do not because it's necessary but because it's gonna irritate me it's just just take care of that myself it's pretty water but we don't want it mucking up our land this would be a really great fishing spot i think that we're going to add in just a little path down here so i think that there would be people who would want to come especially in a town like this this is the kind of place that i grew up in and this is the kind of thing that i would look to do on a you know friday afternoon and head down here and go fishing by the bridge it's also a great place to get into trouble if that's what you're looking for too so you know it takes all kinds and uh but that's the purpose of this is not to get into trouble or scrap spray graffiti underneath the bridge it's it's to to be able to go fishing we'll even we'll place a bench down here even when it's floating that's that makes it very special oh now it's sunk all right we should check that other one out are we floating over here too yeah a little bit there we go that's better that's good enough we don't have any tearing i was a little bit worried about that or it's modest it's it's acceptable what we do have are lumpies and bumpies for every building we would so this would be graded you know this is one of those things that i wish that the game handled a bit a bit better the grading would happen by building it wouldn't happen the town grading out all these lots up front that's just not the way things happen it can happen don't get me wrong a developer could come in and plant a whole neighborhood do all the grading up front as part of the grading plan but they would you know that is if this were developing organically it would be on a lot by lot basis most likely not a whole bunch of upfront grading so um either way that's what's happening i do want to speed it up and watch this community develop out and then we're going to take a look at our industry to see how it's going before i forget we're gonna need a park at an elementary school this is a small town a long ways away from the big city and you would expect a couple of things actually here let's pause it and what we're going to do is place in a small elementary school [Music] truthfully we might just go for the church again and have the church provide us with our school capacity i think a one-room schoolhouse would be something you totally expect to see here so it would have been nice to have the church as kind of the center of the vista i think you could see that maybe even here kind of lining it up at the edge but i could also see it kind of being tucked away over in the corner over here which is what we're going to do so this has the ability to serve 50 students and we're going to rely on this church to serve the student needs here in this area we are going to make sure that we have a park that will work for these students though so let's have a real small park right here now i do want to take a look at this park and again we're going to use bob so alt b now there were trees here i thought lp regular we'll replace that lp split trunk replace that and they're missing i don't know what the deal is there it's probably the proximity to water it's probably ruining but oh it's the probability that's actually what it is there we go and now it fits in a little bit better so i just replaced this on i believe i did this to all of the other assets i have like this that was an accident uh you don't have to do that oh no maybe you do maybe you do i should look into that that's something i'm curious about so if you click on show individual props you could do all of these individually that's a little much for me but anyway now it fits in they can come here they can do this the one thing they don't have in this town is death care again thinking of all the small things that a town like this would need so this might be a little bit off the beaten path let's look at our topography again and we might just have this cemetery along here this is not a good spot in the future but that often happens with these kinds of uses we could again replace all these trees i'm not gonna get into all that right now we also it would be ideal to have a landfill truthfully so let's think about a landfill out here actually let's hold off we're gonna see what happens uh we'll use our services from our other city but that's something that we could certainly think about uh the one last thing that i absolutely need to place here is a clinic otherwise people here will be sick they'll be dying and they'll be very unhappy i want to give that one of the best lots in the in the whole city because in a town this size i think that you would see lots going not necessarily in the most logical way all the time if you've ever driven through a small town sometimes you'll look and you go those people don't know the gem that they have how is this placed here or why are all of the mansions in a place that you know doesn't necessarily make sense in the current development form and that's because at one point in time this was the periphery everyone wanted to be here along the main drag and they didn't really care about being down here it wasn't seen as a benefit and truthfully in the future this all is going to be within the the floodplain and you wouldn't be able to ensure any of it so we've got that going for us i do want to name some roads too before we uh deviate from brownsville a little bit and take care of a few other things okay so we've got our road names on and highland street is now going to be brown street and brown street's the main drag through here this will be river road and you see brown street connects all the way up to here max street will be town line road and that's going to be the road that connects us all the way up over here and now river road has only one intersection well yeah we'll let that go so i was i just wanted to make sure there weren't any multiple intersections so we have lee street you know what the hawkins street i like that so we'll give a little nod to lee there uh and let's see what else we could come up with actually we'll name this clear street and this will be ashland street that's something you often see will be the names of cities nearby uh being placed in a community is kind of a an ode to that city so we've named all the roads here and i like it i like it i wonder where lee lives maybe maybe right here [Music] there we go so there's lee's house so i i imagine if he were to knock in the door he would say hi this is lee lee's awesome if you haven't checked out his videos i highly recommend it uh he's he's wonderful so i think that we're in a spot now where we can move on a little bit from this community let's check it out though let's let's let's look at our forestry industry it's a it's a one-star industry to level up we need more workers to get more workers we need more residents here if you look we have four of six workers in use it's about half full uh four of six again over here seven to ten seven of ten seven to ten i might actually just expand this a bit mirror this again oh and look at that we level up right away uh and now we get this uh biomass pellet plant furniture factory sawdust storage uh workers barracks and a small tree sapling field and i want to extend one more of these out here and then vary these up a bit because we don't want these all to be like this so conifer alder beach was the one we don't have many of and now we have a whole bunch yeah so i think we're going to leave it like that it's at least a little mixed up and this to me feels a lot better we could if we really wanted to liven this up we could add some kindling here and go in and increase the density of trees in this area so i think i'm going to do that a little bit [Music] all right look at this now you can't even tell where the well i mean you can tell this one but it looks a heck of a lot better and all that i did is help us this is gonna be highly productive forestry area and of course jackson anderson brown is going to be planting trees back here what a beautiful little industry area really like this so we could go in here and continue to beef up the industry area but i think we're going to save that for the next episode as we have a lot that we could add we have uh this bio pellet plant a biomass pellet plant which would give us i believe let's see paper so that would be a huge benefit to us yeah we might do that because that would be another thing that i believe you would see along the water here would be the paper industry so if i place it here which is where i have availability it's going to be less than desirable because you're going to have traffic going in both directions down this road but it's what we have so we're going to deal with it so what i mean is you get here you put your lumber in your lumber yard you take it down here and you finish off your plane timber actually wait you take with this raw forestry products and make paper ignored i said this is actually perfect placement so what we're gonna do is have a small warehouse over here and then we're gonna level out some of this stuff oh that's this is ugly that's not gonna work we're blocking the water here's what's gonna work we're going to place a road right alongside this factory and i already don't like what this is doing it looks like when i grade it i graded way too much and it might just be better to have that bridge be a little wonky and crazy and now we'll place this along there i like that significantly more and i don't like it very much [Music] okay so i am going to try to pull this up just a little bit and hopefully that helps [Music] it's not perfect ah so the the trouble is if i bring up the back you start to oh actually maybe this is the best solution i'll pull it up a little bit it'll look okay and then i need to make sure i have this switched over to paper and we actually want to export everything from here as quickly as we can same thing over here we probably don't need two of these because we are trying to export this stuff quickly but it's what we have we'll leave it on balanced it'll be fine and now we can make some money we can make some money here we'll extend this down and let's see how we're doing we are turning no profit that is exactly what we were hoping for right maybe it's because we need one more thing and that is the farmworkers barracks incorrect we need the workers barracks for the forestry industry that would be a better way of approaching this [Music] and with these again i want to use bob and replace these trees and i want to show the individual props we're just going to go ahead and use what we've been using or actually let me just use regular this one okay we'll just go with that that'll do the trick it's fine i'm kind of wondering did i just change the time of day that was a mistake so we'll bring that back and it would be nice to get these to blend in a little bit more but i think it's i think it's okay let's slow things down i've been cruising through here there's just no need so i could go ahead and extend this over and have more forested lands but i think we're going to leave it right here this improves the efficiency of this industry and hopefully helps us generate a profit and we are generating more of a profit now and leveling up getting to a place where we are in a good spot and i'm i'm feeling good about that so the nice thing is we're producing our forestry uh products and our output is is lining up pretty good at this point with our inputs we could also have some policies and i always like to incorporate these policies so improve logistics we're increasing the storage capacity of our extractors so that's our tree our tree industry or tree producing industry over here um we're also increasing the upkeep of uh just in general industrial buildings so in this area so something to be aware of over here we're increasing the workers health uh and and safety i think that's a good thing to focus on especially with that only one clinic over here and then the automation is increasing the output by 10 and again the uh building upkeep is increased by 10 so hopefully the net result of this is that we make more money but uh it's it's not necessarily there yet i'm gonna speed this up for a quick second and see the the tricky thing about industries is they don't turn a profit until they do and then when they do you get a whole lump sum at once and i think that's kind of where we're at with this one even if we were to go into here and take a look at our industry areas we would see that we are yeah and it just jumped up and i'm not sure that that's from over here but that's okay that is okay yep there it is profit profit and that would probably go a lot better better if we had rail access and don't think for a second that jackson anderson doesn't realize that so um this is our little town and it is a nice little town lots of little homes perched on the hillside nice variety of building types which i think you'd expect to see here and then some repeating patterns mass-produced uh buildings you could imagine that you know jackson brown might be actually putting these homes up for his employees it's a little employee town has just enough uh you know grocery store it's about it yep big apple grocery a couple places maybe a place to get your hair cut do a little bit of banking uh pick up some barbecue that's about it that's that's about all you get in this town but you get solid employment so you're in a good place so i think we're gonna leave it here on brownsville and fix a couple of things in ashland and i've got some really really exciting fixes the very first one i want to take a look at is over by the high school and let's reorient ourselves so i replaced these roads with some some pretty wonky roads that going into the high school the main reason for that is we were having some problems with the way that this asset was created so i'm gonna refresh your memory by breaking it again so basically the service roads for the big parking lots uh are actually tram tracks so when you have it set up on a tram line you get these lines going in well if you get high tmp unconnected tracks you can go in here draw your lines magic it's so awesome it just it automatically hides them you just have to draw the lines yourself so it will sense whether or not there are tracks there and for some reason fix it and i'll take that that's a win so there we go and now we could place these tram tracks really anywhere that we want anywhere that we thought we would have had problems now now we're fine the other area was over here there we go so we're in a good spot with that so next up is another fix a small one that i want to make over by the high school and this isn't necessarily a fix so much as it is an improvement and the improvement is that one of the members of the the the the discord server made some excellent assets for ashland first of all we have this amazing ashland sign and it's it's just awesome just awesome so we're gonna place that here and now we've got pride for the mariners and we're showing it off to the world now one of the problems with this at this there's no problem with this asset but the second asset that i was given is a bit more problematic in that you need a field that's empty and our high school field is not so i'm gonna need to figure out a new asset for the football field but our soccer field is in a good place to immediately implement this so place that there and now we have the ashland mariners logo right in the middle of the soccer field i love that that is awesome i i absolutely love that um the name is currently escaping me i'm going to find it quickly it's mischief mischief on the discord server thank you so much for using lauren j burner's assets to create these that's the kind of collaboration that i love in this channel uh we just have such a great community here and i i love it so thank you so much for creating that that will be in the pack for today's episode so if you want to use either the logo the for the field or the logo for the outside of the campus that will be available to you and i'm going to turn off my anarchies before i go crazy and start destroying things which i will do and truthfully maybe it would have been fine so the next thing i want to take a look at is over here and that is at church park so we've got this weird little uh park park gate and i received a suggestion in the discord server on how to fix this it is the gateless park entrances set and this one is a little bit different than the set i used before so you see that it's kind of has this ability to use blobs and that's exactly what we're looking for so we're gonna go through take a look at these see we have the main gates and then we gateless concrete foundation main gate turn on our anarchy there we go and our park is good to go someone dead here hopefully someone gets around to taking care of that looks like it did and while we're here why don't we add some graffiti and some murals i'm going to slow this down maybe i won't i will i'll slow this down for now it's it's fine so what we're going to do here is i have some murals and graffiti and i this was an excellent suggestion again that it received in the comments and in the discord server so we've got to turn on our anarchies we've got some really interesting murals that we could use here now not all of them are appropriate or are going to fit but some of them will how neat is this [Music] now i'd imagine this being placed after some sort of an art competition where you invite the community play some artwork but it really livens up this area makes it feel like a special place and less like we just place the back of a building up to these houses now they're proud to be there even if there is a dead body waiting to be transported i think that we're in a good spot there i think we're in a good spot there's actually a lot of death which is a bit concerning it does make me wonder if what we're seeing are hearses heading out of town i'm also seeing a great deal of traffic here which to me means that we might need to create an interchange soon i'm curious yeah look at this traffic that we're seeing heading out of town getting stuck over here it's almost freeway building season oh and this is part of the problem so i just stepped out here for a second and we don't have power or water to our cemetery out here which would mean that we would have some of our uh some of our hearses going out here because we don't we're not using this so now this has power and water and we should be able to use the cemetery which will be a great help going to busy corner shop way over here just what we were hoping for but i'm glad it brought us over here because that brings us to our next asset and that is the park people generator pack so ppg so let's use ppg to liven up our parks so what we're gonna do so what ppg does is it allows you to create places of interest that people will want to to walk to so we're going through here ppg and there are three different asset sizes this is three by three two by two one by one so what we're gonna do is go through here you need to be within three tiles of a road for this to work then you just place it and i have my anarchy on so i can just start loading these things out okay so now you can see that there are a couple of places where we have some issues so what we're going to do is connect up some invisible paths to these areas so i want to have my road guidelines on an angle and i can feel it snapping we're just gonna bring these down i'm gonna run these to see if those two clean up we've got one more here that's an issue okay so we've got a whole bunch of super weird paths here now i'm gonna speed this up for a second and see if things improve okay it's not loading up with people but we do get things like this guy just kind of hanging out down here with a skateboard that's something you could do and whoa we've got this person over here hanging out by the uh the wind surfboards someone over here standing staring at these uh at this beach set up here so we've got some got some activity so that is that's nice that is nice um now the very last thing that i want to do is add a little bit of graffiti down here as well and the idea being that we would have a little bit more liveliness down here we've got a big area on the side of this building and i downloaded a graffiti pack that i think is pretty neat [Music] okay so nothing crazy here but just a couple oh that one looks bad uh so the the really tricky thing with these is they if they're not slightly off the surface they will create they'll cut through and if they're too far away that has a shadow so the murals i think are a little bit better about that but the tricky thing here is you can kind of see it right here if it's in the wrong direction at all for the sunlight they are not going to show up so it's certainly whoops you can certainly change the sunlight to try to to compensate for that but sometimes it just won't work it's just not in the right direction so that's something that you have to be aware of with these so but it's still neat i still i still appreciate and like the artwork i think it makes the city feel a
