The LARGEST Everlasting Metro I've EVER seen in Cities Skylines!

just sometimes I get sent a city that I think is particularly well built looked beautiful and is really deserving of a traffic fix today is one of those days let's take a look at this lovely lovely looking city hello everybody and welcome to the next episode of a City skylines fix your cities with me dipper thank you very much for joining me this city Santa Vegas has been sent in by Thomas Jordan and he says can he fix my city my highways and my suburbs are causing me lots of problems and I pick this city because it is such a beautiful looking city as you probably saw from the introduction he's been working on this for a while and he knows how to build a nice-looking city it's not perfect obviously because some of the traffic needs dealing with on the whole he's got a really nice looking map here and it just looks it just looks really nice I'm gonna just speed up the game a bit so we can take a look around so certain parts of this over at about 60% well the city as a whole is at 60% and but we're gonna try and fix up the highway and fix a couple of issues but I thought I just mentioned as well first of all welcome to all the new viewers and all the new in I'm looking forward to fixing this one look at this view so let's just dive out of this one here and take a look around but often people ask me what is the map I don't know what the maps are called all I get sent is the savegame and I will link below a pre and post fix savegame link so you can check it out for yourself the traffic 65% and we can see where the hot spots are so you've got this little bit here is quite busy people cutting through this is busy this is your main sort of issue you've got your highway coming down here and people clogging up this little section here so we're gonna look at that and it's been backing up down your Daniel highway here and we've got this little thing going on I've seen people use these junctions quite a bit yeah interesting a little bit here again to do with your highway that's not too bad that's just busy again your highway here you've got a lot of road junctions and things so yeah that's not too bad so we're gonna see if we can fix that up for you ah this poor guy he's been missed out with the water pipes look at that this is it I'm gonna make his day I'm just gonna put in the smallest piece of pipe you can look at that who is this Frank's fish stick Factory has now been affixed thank you very much for watching I'll sit now on there's more to do yeah we've got a lot to do so let us start say maybe lots of cars coming down here these guys are just sat there because they're waiting to get through that Junction I mean things like that I mean it's not gonna do much for you but if I do that they can just go through the junction because yeah there's no other loads coming off of that and then they're all trying to get into here and you got left light and straight on and all sort so how about let's use one of the in-game tools and we're gonna grab that road there so Hemlock boulevards so loads of what's trucks loads of trucks are trying to get over there so that's the main thrust of it is those brown brown lines the trucks let's use the lane change lane arrows and we'll say you can turn right you can turn right and you can turn light and that is it and you just keep going could still use traffic lights there and as you can see we're getting a lot of crossing people are crossing over which is stopping this moving and there's a lot of people so what I'm gonna do is put that to there and I'm gonna do the same here page down put that to there so they can now cross over the load so what we're going to do is we're going to stop the crossing there so if we go back to our Junction restriction and we're going to say don't cross do I want them to cross there they can cross over here actually that's not too bad that keeps moving so we'll leave that and you can see them we're using this which is fantastic so they're going up and over the top and then if we follow this road down so the traffic is clearing up but in there sort of stopping here and what I'm just going to do there is a simple little lane change because we've got white slates on then we've got a straight on and a left all in one so if we just change that there we go so they can now spread out into the three lanes and hopefully when the traffic lights change so let's just wait for that what I want them to do as well is to keep going so when they go into there let's use that so we'll get as many cars through as possible there we go and stop clearing up this traffic down here there we go and just a few seconds later it's much much better what I've done is I've stopped and switching lanes there there and there and then I've used the junction restrictions and said it's okay to change lanes here so when these cars pull up they will pick what lane they need to be in there which is a great place to do it rather than along here and then I finally just made this the priority so if we go to here I made this the priority and these three stop and that just keeps moving nicely I mean again you've got people crossing over you could stop them cross in there because you've got a heat a whole heap of people coming out of the end you know what I think I will do so that's gonna force them all the way down to cross over here which is fine that's not too far more why they'll be happy to do that but that would just keep things moving along and nicely there we go look at that okay so let's take a look at your highway that you've got on here so you do quite often have cars sort of backing up like this trying to come off and ones can't get past it's all causing all sorts of issue you've got three lanes here with one turning off that one's turning off as well okay we're gonna have one lane for coming off even though it goes into two and you can pick which lane you want this one can go onto there and that one can go onto there and instantly when these guys sort out what they're doing there we go that just keeps this section what I'm gonna do is say you can't switch there this one here's the next one you can't switch there you've got to decide over here so there we go so that gets that side sorted you might just want to do a similar thing here there we go and then you can't switch there and you can sort it out so then they come down into this section yeah you know what I think we're gonna change this okay we've got our nice little roundabout under there now which is hopefully gonna keep things moving and then what I would do let's just have a look we've got three lanes here we want these guys just to sort of keep moving here up onto the highway that's what they want I'm gonna take a four-lane highway just upgrade that load there and then we're going to use the tool and say this Lane is if you want to go on the highway there we go and then these two can go there that one can go there and then anybody that needs to get on the highway come pick their lane and go straight up there straight onto the highway and keep moving so this traffic down here I guess you're waiting to turn into there you are so let's split up these lanes again because you want to just keep everybody moving don't wait so we want this Lane two lanes right one lane left there we go and get everybody going so that's gonna start clearing this up coming down here not too bad a few cars waiting on the slick road that's fine with me this one here is looking pretty super busy did we sort this one out yes all these cars want to come off know some of them are Lane switchin well what are we saying to Lane screeches we say no you don't you're not Lane switching you're not Lane switching we're gonna push the lane switch in all the way back yeah all the way back over there and then hopefully they'll start using their brain and switching properly so I mean roads across here a few little slip roads off of here I mean something here my as well just a small one nothing too complicated just off there on to there anybody wants to come off they can come off and end up going into the city that way I went again that's like we've got a lane thing here that needs sorting out so we're gonna have one lane for lights should we have yeah let's have one lane for light and two for left so hopefully these guys will start spreading out a bit and start using more of the lanes and I think I'm actually gonna do a similar here because look we've got left lights and straight on that's gonna work much better when you come to junctions like this there we go so a few minutes later that's nicely cleared out what I've done as well as put a crossing bridge over the top here stop them crossing here and here just to keep that flowing and again over here as well because you've got the same issue we've got a metro kicking out on a traffic and they instantly crossing over all of these roads but I've left the side crossing on but the crossing for the main road just up in this section here I've turned off and they're all using that bridge and keeping things flowing much better still gets pretty busy but it's much better than it was look at this little area here so you've got traffic backing up on the highway which we'll get to fix these two are all merging into this and then it's all causing a bit of a hoo-hah as they try to get to where they want to go here so this is all industry yes it is so first of all what I would do is just to try to keep this section flowing here and they're not all stopping and all that sort of thing is I would just try and make this a one-way into and around the city we're gonna make that one-way going that way and we're gonna make that one-way going out that way I mean we could even just do that all the way around here make this one big sort of roundabout area but I think we'll just stick with that and then what we can do is we can turn off the traffic light we don't need those and then everybody can just keep moving and that would be fantastic you know we might even just do it around here just to stop any other places here yeah let's do that any other places here from having any problems so let's just I wonder could we just do the whole thing all the way around the outside yeah maybe let's try that yeah we can so I just made this little section here one way all the way around and you've got your normal up and down roads in the middle and just given these the priority to keep on going and with there we go with the giveaway signs the roads coming on and then I also want to just make sure they keep moving so do that on the road through and then round here they can please themselves just to keep this one moving which is good and then down here we want to sort of solve this issue we've probably got a similar thing here that we always see where we don't have enough lanes so this one here I'm gonna just add in a four lanes going back a couple so we've got one lane for going off and the other three for going on and look already we start seeing them moving along there we go and let's just stop them switching lanes there and there and where does it go from four to three this section here so we're just going to let them switch lanes there and then that'll start there we go look all of the all of these cars were backed up because of these guys turning off and then we've got two lanes going into three lanes which is confusing people you don't want anybody going left up here that's just not needed so we're gonna switch this out for a two-lane highway there we go and let's just tell them where they need to go you don't get that one you guys here you can go there you can go there and there we go excellent and then what I'm gonna do here is say you can go there and you can go there and I think you probably got a place to switch you have you know what actually I am gonna do this one here and delete it I'm gonna say you can lane switch there but you can't Lane switch there that I'll probably make it easier so it's grab our Junction restrictions and say yep lane switching is fine when you come through that Junction so they'll pick where they need to go yeah there we go giving it a little bit of time and it's spread out a bit more which is fine I mean something else just a suggestion for an area like this if you've got a main road sort of going on the outside try and keep the main road free from any businesses like all these are here because a truck pulls over here to go into this business there we go and when it comes out if he wants to switch lanes he's gonna block all of this traffic let's just see actually he did that quite skillfully I take it back whatever your name was you did a good job but normally this guy here he's getting in the way these guys are stopping and he's not pulling up that way yes so watch for that and try and sort of spread out what it was all perfectly fine and then I hear and they decided to move stop again oh dear there we go much better and the last little change you've got the load coming in here one way down here to about here wasn't it one way and in one way up here and out so we've got our input and I output separated I mean that's just all running really really smoothly now very good let's have a look at our traffic and see what we're up to 72 percent right let's find another hot spots you've got another little bit here with the highway backing up again you not got enough lanes to go off so let's make these three lanes into four lanes back here there we go and then we can say to them no Lane switching there no lane switch in there and oh yeah well let them lane switch there that's where we want to pick and then as things move along they will keep going and then it's teeny tiny little cars and then when they get to the NT we'd like to give these guys priority to get straight off of the highway so I'm gonna say that you side streets have to give way and you can just go straight on there we go we've got a path over the top and we also don't have enough roads to have enough lanes here so I'm gonna go for the three lane asymmetrical roads two lane one this one here so let's just change that not letting the other way round you've got our three lanes which is good and if we take this tool here we can say that one goes lie and that one goes straight on and this one goes left and then you've got the one lane coming up here for the dump trucks that want to go up that way okay and as most of the traffic coming down here was just heading into the city there was not much coming up this way it was all wanting to move around in this area I put these as one way row so that's one way that way that's one way that way and then this is one way coming in if any cars would want to come in that way that'd be great in fact it probably better to turn these ran the other way I just realized we have that come in that way and that going that way there we go because this is the road that comes up it's on this side yeah excellent that just clears that light up keeps everybody moving let's just put our path back in there excellent yep that's good right let's take it this time like let's take a look at this another hot spot in the city you've got this nice main road that's coming through here and it is just it's just stopping though it's all ground to a halt so I bet a lot of these guys and girls here want to go straight off and they're stopping because of these guys here look there we go look some of these want to go off and they're stopping there's just not enough room to go so what can we do as this isn't a highway we can't just upgrade this with an extra Lane but we do have the eight lane road so yes we can take that there we go so now we've got one lane off from three lane on let us use the lane tool there we go so one two turn right and three to go on which is fantastic so that's going to get these guys moving a bit quicker I'm gonna stop them a ling that switching in the middle they can lane switch over there so that works out well and then what I would also do as well is these here yeah I would just do something here and just say yeah let's grab that again there we go so you can come there and then you can go there you can go there and you can go there so that's just gonna keep all of that moving I also really don't think we need traffic lies there everybody can just keep moving that's fine yep there we go excellent and then this one over here again you've got people probably clogging up someone to come up with is this you've got on and off oh my goodness all in the same place do you know what I would do is I would delete this on van going up there and just move it you don't need to have all these things all crammed into the same spot let's just put it over here so if we go like that there we go so that now whoa is pretty bad there we go we've got that joined up there that's not too bad so that's gonna take away some of the traffic issues that we've got here and let's see what else is going on so they're coming down here and everybody's hit in this Junction which is pretty much your main load through for all of this area here so we've also got a little bit of hawky borginnis let's just fix this quickly up here we can just add there we go let's just make that four-lane going along there there we go and say no Lane switching no lane switching um yeah so this here I've got to be honest it's causing everything to back up this is just crying out for a roundabouts and we can use the roundabout builder mod as it says there and let me just find a good size for that to be honest that's probably quite good there we go these are these houses and things would disappear fits nicely underneath and this also sets up your Traffic Manager for you as you know it normally does but for some reason and this time he didn't so okay let's just do that myself I get under there there we go that's it excellent there we go that's moving along nicely and I'm even thinking that we could just take that out there and add it into this road because then that traffic let's just get that in first it's just use now I'm gonna curve that and they're all that attached somewhere yep there we go and then we'll turn that round because that traffic then will come down here and we'll join the roundabout instead of joining all this traffic along here so it means this junction is only being used by what's coming down the main roads and then this junctions being used by these guys coming off of here which I think it's good but anyway that's got that moving nicely excellent and I would also I'm just gonna do that on this roundabout I didn't do on the other one just give it a bit of a break I would in fact maybe take away all of that so you don't have cars stopping right by the roundabouts there we go and it just enables it just to breathe a bit as I like to say excellent and I've got the movie mod as well so I will move these out the way for you too okay let's take a look at this Junction here that we spotted earlier I've seen this Junction a few times and I don't know what the person who made it is thinking of but I'm wondering whether we can fix this up using a bit of Lane mathematics as I like to call it so let's start at the end point where the cars come out look they're smacking into all the cars coming down the highway and causing issues so let us upgrade the lane coming off here 2 4 y 4 Lane I should say we'll do a couple of those and we're just saying no laser switching in the middle and then what I'm gonna say is when you come on you can only join that lane so that then acts as a slip lane and then we're gonna say you can go straight on you can go straight on and you can go straight on so that stops that there they will come down here and then they will lane switch here back - yeah flowing into the traffic so that's gonna keep that moving and what it looks like it's got this traffic got a lot of traffic coming underneath to go back up laund and turn around which is really weird it's really strange that they're doing that but anyway so that's one lane coming up there one lane we could do with two lanes because you've got this Lane joining it as where I wish then this needs to be even bigger but also this needs to be biggie because what two lanes going into one lane I'm just wondering actually now that I've done that that might actually just clear up on its own let's just leave that running for a second just because look you can see all of this here you know whoops you know I can actually see is happening is let's just look at that one there yeah look you want straight through go straight through and we want straight through there as well these lanes I'm just gonna make sure yeah there we go you've done it already so these lanes only go there they don't turn around which is goods you've got left and right straight on you've got lights I'm just gonna say you cuz then you've got up on over the top and backgrounds here again which yeah anybody coming down this highway who's gone underneath isn't gonna want to go straight back round and up there again so I'm actually gonna stop them from doing that I'm gonna say you have to go there yeah we definitely need to make this two-lane this is getting a bit silly isn't it so if we grab National Road to last - why isn't it yeah we grab this one here and there we go that's it so now we can get these guys moving much quicker so we're gonna say you go into that one and then you if you wish can go up there and there yep excellent and then we'll say keep it moving yet we've done that already and then we just need to redo this over here I'm just wondering whether I mean we do have five lane highway so we could go five and then down to a four and then down to a three and they can just sort of work that out themselves we'll just say don't switch here between the two fives and then we've got plenty of lanes then for doing this so I'll have you two go there you two go there and then these three straight on by the way if you want these extra loads that I'm using its network extensions - gives you these extra roads and I'm hoping then that's gonna start clearing this up here let's just let that run for a while definitely need to upgrade this one here there's just too many cars coming up here in too many problems then we can just redo this bit and say look if you want to go there and if you want to go there and then once you're in this left-hand Lane all you're going to be doing is turning off and then we've got straight on going to there yeah that's good so none of this is going to stop I'll look at that first cleared up already and then we can get them let's just have a look make sure there's no lane switching that can go on in the middle yeah you could lane switch there I'd rather you Lane switch here but actually look as soon as I've done that it's clear that all right up isn't it which is great and all we want to do is make sure that these guys here have enough lanes to come off so we're just gonna grab that there let's have a look yep and then we'll just go this way if I can squeeze in underneath that railway line and grab that and say white straight on straight on straight on and that is it and they will come down there and he won't block up all this traffic I might just add another extra four-lane there sometimes it just seem to need a couple of lengths and switch them further back just gives them room to spread out and I reckon look at that that's cleared all that up nicely and then I can just spot this down here at the corner of my eye look look I think that is a load I put in wasn't it early out did I put that on camera I'm not sure if I did but we're gonna make that a four lane road and then we're just gonna double check the lanes so right straight on straight on straight on that is it so once these guys have moved out the way come on this is police car what does these guys that works out what they're doing that's all gonna get moving nicely and I might just say actually here this one you're not gonna Lane switch there you're just gonna go straight on a lane switch further down just to keep it moving along there we go excellent and there we go yes again couple of minutes later all moving smoothly fantastic so I thought I'd take a look at your transporter you've got set up in your city and I just noticed your metro got to metro lines and 1002 on 1318 vehicles but well there's a lot of people that's a lot of vehicles that's a lot of stops oh my kitty aren't this Metro is this Green Line here goes around the entire city more or less down here over here up there it is two great big loops clockwise and anti-clockwise if somebody gets on here and they want to get over here I mean they can you know one way is gonna be shorter than the other but oh my goodness it's gonna take you ages just a suggestion if you're doing Metro what I would do is treat each section separately so I have a loop in here going clockwise and anti-clockwise I'd have maybe a loop on this island clockwise and anti-clockwise one in the middle here maybe one up there and then the outliers I'd leave and then I do connections between them so you'd have this loop here let's say you've got a loop on the left and a loop on the light and then in the center here somewhere where there's roads new to each other you might just need to connect to load or do it here do it this would be good he's bringing over a connecting line and have the left hand loop its stationed here and the right hand loop its stationed there and a little cross crossover look put a little path so they want to get from this loop to this loop they go all the way to this stop changeover and then get on to that loop and that works really really well it means you'd have even more people using your Metro then you have at the moment that would just be fantastic basses you've got a couple of bus lines I would then use bus lines within each section come on get rid of that so you've got your Metro but if you little bus lines that go to the outliers just like a route out on a route back just to get more people off the road and certainly you could do with I don't think you've got any train at all so you've got train lines in here try and get some passenger trains keep it separate from the cargo well I mean you've got allow intercity trains but you don't have any train internal train connection so but some of those in as well use some of those stations you've got and that will really help keep people or for the road well let's take a final look at the traffic seventy-nine percent seventy seven it's sort of going up and down up and down we had eighty a second ago so not too bad not too bad but I really like this city it is a beautiful beautiful looking city thank you very much for sending it in don't forget hit subscribe if you're new to my channel we'll check
