i don't want you to come to my house i don't like people i like my house i don't like people coming to my house i want to be alone but currently there's nothing stopping someone like you just opening up my door standing around in my living room and if i see you then i have to press shift a few times i have to say something nice in the chat i mean it's a whole ordeal and i don't want to deal with it i want you to get out in fact i don't even want you to get out i don't want you to come in so i think that means i need to build up some defenses and these little things right here are going to come in very handy these are the skulk sensors which are announced for minecraft 1.17 the caves and cliffs update and thanks to oppossec we now have them installed in minecraft 1.16 because he has made a mod and i'll put it down in the description because it's fantastic so let's get to work shall we and i'm going to start things off with a bit of a crazy discovery so i was trying to think of things that only make noise when you're near to them and a beacon beam was one of the things that i came up with so i built that and that sort of worked but the range wasn't very far but then i realized things in minecraft only make noise when you're a certain distance away from them so for example here i have a redstone clock that is near to a note block and that note block is only going to output sound if i'm nearby so the skulk sensor is only going to detect sound if i'm within this radius of it i mean look at that for a proximity detector this is ridiculous and so overpowered but really useful for my safehouse my voice went very high then i need to regain my manliness a little bit so here's what i'm thinking i'm installing a ring of note blocks 48 blocks above my base which is the range of a note block so that when i'm in my base these things aren't going to be detecting me they're not going to be playing sounds but if someone flies in and attempts to attack my base from above then they're going to be picked up by these note blocks this is exactly what i wanted to see so currently i'm standing in my base i can do my thing i can jump and it doesn't activate anything but as soon as i even remotely go higher that redstone lamp has switched on and that means that we can actually start activating traps even if someone's on my roof that is wild i mean this definitely feels like a slightly broken game mechanic i don't know if this is going to be in minecraft 1.17 the official release but i am going to make use of it while i can thankfully i've incorporated an off switch into this design so we don't have to listen to that thumping bass any longer i'm having way too much fun doing that and i've done a lot of thinking about what trap but i want to hook up into this system and i've concluded that the best trap is no trap at all you see the player could be anywhere within a 100 block sphere of the top of my base that's quite a big area to search for players and it's very unlikely that i'm actually going to hit them with any form of traps instead i've just installed a little alarm system so if i'm chilling out in my base everything is silent and then a player flies through the zone then that note block right there is going to start playing and it's going to alert me that there's a player nearby so then i can quickly run outside and fire copious amounts of eggs at them in fact i would argue that we probably don't need any more defense than that i certainly wouldn't be coming into someone's base if they fired exit me however for the sake of the video let's keep going my second line of defense is going to work in a similar fashion to the first line of defense but it's going to be on a smaller scale so things like droppers and pistons can be heard from 16 blocks away which means that now we can create a second alarm system that is of a smaller radius and thus can be more lethal so whereas that massive one will be like the alerting system this will be the one where things start firing and traps start occurring that's very interesting so turns out droppers can be heard from way further away than i ever imagined pistons on the other hand work perfectly for this sort of design that is that is exactly what i wanted the issue with redstone contraptions that rely on noise is that all of them have to be incredibly noisy for them to work properly i do apologize so you join me at my title screen you see my idea kind of didn't work um the arrows land that's a sound and that has led to a situation like this where i can't really stop it stop oh goodness me this is not this is not a good situation this is not what i imagined and now i'm creating more entities by destroying stuff i should probably back up this world shouldn't i so instead of using arrows which fall it's probably best that i use fire charges and i kind of don't want to set fire for the entire area around the base so i was originally thinking water but you know what i mean given that this is a safe house it probably makes more sense i actually use lava so i've hooked up a little slice of the system just to give it a quick tester and that has that is that is working about how i imagined it would seriously imagine this is the strangest stuff this is the strangest stuff we've never had anything like this in minecraft before that is wild and this is just defenses against people flying in i mean we're gonna have more stuff on the ground in fact one form of ground defense we can actually integrate with this system is a wall that if an attacking player wants to jump over they're actually going to activate this system and be completely blasted by fireballs i mean that's just it's so ridiculous and of course you can't possibly have a safe house without having some form of border wall and i must admit with everything constructed i mean i'm already happy with this thing like this already looks like a pretty solid safe house i feel like i don't need to do much more but because i'm a ridiculous human being we're going to keep going this part is relatively low tech compared to a lot of the stuff that we've already done but i feel like i couldn't possibly build a safe house without having some form of agriculture elements so we've got a little bit with the rose action and now we have a little bit of berry bush action going on as well now must admit if they manage to get past all the defenses and then they get killed off by this that is a tiny bit embarrassing but i suppose it does help now one thing that i thought was lacking with our fly-in division is the fact that although we have this wall of fire once you get past that there isn't really that many defenses and if you land on the roof you're not going to be hit by anything so that's where these guys come in i've created a system using a lot of wool occlusion that should allow us to spawn some witches if you're stood on top of the roof the big thing with skulk sensors is that everything makes noise so when one of these activates it will activate a dispenser underneath but then this skulk sensor will hear that dispenser and spawn something and then we could end up with a loop so you kind of have to build systems like this that stop the noise from actually reaching the skulk senses and i'm i'm hoping that all of this should be it looks good the slideshow looks good i might need to turn this system off quite quickly i can't fly oh no i haven't made a backup in a while guys well this is where we're at so i just tried to light up the world and it's been it's been sat like this for around about 10 oh minutes i mean that's a safe house right so whenever whenever a player tries to attack the house the whole world gets corrupted and destroyed and knowing my audience it's if anything it's the safest of safe houses i no one has created a house as safe as this is this really gonna be how it ends i mean oh i guess this is how it ends i guess i should say thanks for watching you know skulk sensors they still have my vote i still think they're cool i had they're definitely going to be used for traps in fact i would say 99.9 of builds that involve skulk sensors are going to be traps the remaining point one percent are just gonna be weird things technical bits yeah there's gonna be a lot of death when skulk sensors get introduced
