there are only two words that truly haunt me tardis and computer this might sound like a slightly strange selection but it's because these are the two redstone builds that people always ask me to construct that i've never been able to construct i can't construct the computer because frankly i'm too dense but the tardis the tardis always just wrote off as being impossible until i discovered this immersive portals mod now this this still hurts my brain quite a bit because i mean i think this this shouldn't happen and most importantly it shouldn't happen so smoothly i mean it doesn't make sense to me how i can just transition from one dimension into the other and i can look around and i can see stuff and things are moving things are moving in here if i switch my difficulty to normal look things will actually spawn in the nether and i will be able to see them moving look that ghast over there i can still see that ghast he's still flying around look there's a magma cube and this is some weird wizardry i've done a little bit of testing to find out if skeletons can shoot me through the dimensions and i seem to have broken some things and the answer is no by the way which is good because otherwise ghast would constantly be blasting you anyway let's stop getting sidetracked by this rather wonderful mod i really can't take myself seriously with this arrow sticking out my face it is now time to build a tardis and i can easily build a tardis making use of this exterior is in the overworld interior isn't nether redstone systems inside everything's going to be fun let's find a part of this world that is considerably less ugly which i would say i have done now it's time to actually start work on constructing the tardis and i have to say this might actually be quite challenging um yeah stuff minecraft doesn't exactly lend itself to building structures like tardis's this is this is difficult i just want to get this in early i apologize to any doctor who fans if i completely butcher this with that being said i would have done a pretty good job i mean don't get me wrong it's not quite the color that you would expect the tardis to be but there's only about three blue blocks in minecraft like properly blue blocks so instead i decided to go with this stuff the warp stairs and the warped wood just so we can actually get stairs and slabs and trap doors in and i'd say it's actually worked out quite nicely the exterior is the part that i was truly worried about now it's time for the fun stuff first things first we need to make a key system which will allow us to open up these doors now i know that you could open them by hand we're just going to pretend that that can't happen now originally i was going to make it so that you throw the key onto the floor but now i'm thinking we could make use of the space behind the portal and have almost like a key submission system where we throw it into the back of the tardis that definitely seems like the best idea to me it is a little bit tight when it comes to space but i think i should be able to make it work just about the only thing that is proving to be a bit of a challenge is getting the key back to the player after they've put it into the tardis and i'm thinking we just sent it back into the nether because of course you know we can shoot the item back out this side this immersive portal stuff is still messing with my brain a bit let's see how well this works then so i'll walk up to here throw my completely unsuspecting key into the system the doors open up and i have made my way into the nether and my key has been returned i mean that is fancy that is very very fancy and things are about to get a lot fancier because now it is time to actually build the interior of this thing and this is another element that i'm actually quite scared of i mean i'm going to take some creative freedoms here i'm going to do my own style if i was to make the tardis this is what i would make it look like so this is the color scheme that i was originally planning on going with but then i decided to swap it all out for orange blocks and i think i prefer it but i think we also need to change up the gray concrete i don't know if that's the way to go you see the tardis design that i'm going for here is the one that i'm most familiar with which is when i was heavily into doctor who and it was around about the matt smith david tennant era it was a very orangey very glowy design i'm hoping to recreate that this might just be the most expensive floor of all time the thing is with the tardis it has this very alien but also industrial look and it's incredibly incredibly difficult to recreate in minecraft i am trying my hardest my two brain cells are working up a serious sweat at this point in time but i would say my little bit of brain cell cardio has paid off this is looking cool this is fitting in with the theme that i'm hoping for i'm absolutely terrified to start work on the roof i really don't know what to do here once again taking some inspiration from the tardis that i'm most familiar with it kind of had this crazy like cathedral roof you know this big dome almost like an observatory maybe we could maybe i could try and do something like that i have found the perfect tardis building material yes yes yes yes that looks good is this a little bit too much shroom light i don't know if he is now that i've covered it up with the orange glass i think it reduces the intensity a little bit and i think it means that the entire roof can be this glowing stuff i mean i've been looking at a ton of images of tardis's and especially the tardis that i'm trying to recreate on google images and the roof is very glowy so i guess i can get away with having a very glowy roof so let's take a look then first off on the outside already this looks really cool i just love the logic not making any sense whatsoever and then when we pop inside this feels correct this feels like how i would feel if i actually went into the tardis i feel like i said feel way too many times there but the point still stands i've tried adding some electrical wires and some pipes and things and already it's just a big note shall we actually crack on with some redstone work i've done a little bit more work on the exterior i've made it a tiny bit taller it just had to be done okay seriously we need to do some redstone work so the first thing that i think would be good is if we animated these beacon beams in some way not entirely sure how just yet my first thought was making use of colors but then i realized that actually the glass is made out of colored glass so that wouldn't really work so instead i'm thinking about just turning them off periodically so i've set up this little system right here if i put some items inside that actually works alarmingly better than i expected it to i mean i don't know if that's the effect that we want but it it's definitely something it definitely feels like an electricity beam or an energy beam i'm actually yeah i think that's cool and just to clarify it still works when you're out in the overworld which i think is insane but coming back inside i definitely think this control panel could do with a little bit of extra work and a little bit of extra detail added in but i'm not entirely sure what just yet maybe just more switches and things to flick this is exactly the sort of chaos that i had in mind yeah this is perfect we've got little screens we've got little these things i don't know what they are but they kind of fit the theme every lever under the sun has been installed in this area here it's chaos and that's exactly what we want now it is time to actually have the tardis activation sequence now i say we get smart about this and actually move some of the functionality away from the central control panel and add it into some of the walls now you're gonna have to bear with me here okay but i have a bit of an idea because of course minecraft is a game where we can't have small dials and things i thought i would have them on the walls so this is how we set the date and location as to where this thing is actually going to move to let's get some of these items in place and now let's see if i can get some of this redstone working and now let's see if i can get those things working in combination so my idea is is that we would use these dials on the side right here to select when we go and where we go okay so these first styles are to select the day of the month so we have the tens so let's say we wanted to go for the 23rd of a month then we go up to here so that is in the 20 range and then we go over to this area and we select number three which is right there now if we wanted to go to say the 28th then we would just dial it in like that i gotta say i'm relatively pleased with this system i mean it it seems fairly intuitive right let's get the year sorted or should i say the month yeah the month's quite important and that is now done and all fully functional so there is march selected that is june selected all seems to be working well in that department and also the year selector is done and that's a tiny bit more complicated because there's so many options it wouldn't really work in a traditional style of dials so instead you have to submit each number so say for example i want to go to 356 bc first off i have to select the bc selector and then i select the number three so let's do that and then hit submit and it will be submitted into the system and then i go up to the number five submit that has been submitted so we're now on 35 bc but if i want to go to 356 bc i submit the last one and that is that the year is now selected now if i want to reset it i just hit this button here i think we can all agree that's pretty cool the location stuff is even more complicated than the year stuff i mean these these are interdimensional coordinates you kind of select them as you go and they all combine to create their own unique coordinate i mean there's there's a lot going on there it's too much for even my tiny two brain cells to understand let's give this thing a full test so here we are at the outside of the tardis honestly it feels like it's been an age since you've been out here looking at this thing but here it is in all of his glory and if we walk up to the edge here chuck in this key i said if we walk up to the edge here and chuck in this key then that should open up the front doors and allow us to get inside and i guess it goes without saying that the inside is considerably considerably larger than the outside now if you want to travel anywhere of course we have to set the time date and location so i'm thinking we will go december the 3rd 2010 so that's december selected right we need to be in the north so that's that and then we need to be the third so that should do the trick let's quickly select 2010 so bam bam that's the one so 201 and then another zero and that should be 2010 now in terms of location i honestly don't know how this works so i'm just going to flick a bunch of levers and hope for the best and let's go so boom cool that one okay and then the final one oh dear oh i've made a horrible mistake
