hi guys welcome back to my channel today's video is going to feature mustard fried chicken now I'm gonna make my dinner I'm gonna have some fried cabbage kind of have a broccoli casserole and the mustard fried chicken now I got this recipe for the mustard fried chicken from a fellow youtubers channel her name is full for the sole the social butterfly and I'm gonna put a little link in there for her too anyway her video is called how to make soul food mustard fried chicken as I say it I'm gonna have the chicken I'm gonna have fried cabbage and cornbread I will not be including the making of the cornbread in this video but I do have the making of some cornbread and another video and I'll put a link to that to my broccoli casserole is going to consist of broccoli florets or broccoli crowns okay you get that from the freezer section mushrooms soup cheese and onion and it's gonna have a topping of Ritz crackers and butter on top of it it is so delicious I used to eat the regular broccoli casserole and it was always kind of on the mushy side one of my co-workers that I used to work with brought this to work one day cuz we used to cook all the time at a previous job and she brought this to work one day and I've been in love with it ever since my family loves it and this is what we have on a lot of holidays anyway let's get started you okay guys the first thing we're gonna do I just watched our chicken with cold water now this goes in the freezer you know I get it from Sam before I spelled many in here that's that's the best thing about going to Sam's they have such large quantities and your money work to fix and that's probably food meals I don't think any of my girls and my husband just a little bit frozen so we don't let that go all right okay guys now we're ready to go I've already put my chicken into the aluminum pan that way it's gonna make it a whole lot easier for me to mix everything together now what we're going to do is first at the mustard and I'm my own cameraman today so you have to excuse me as soon as I get everything going and frying mixed together then I'm gonna go ahead and get my tripod out and set it up that way so to be little bit more stable but we're going to add a generous amount of mustard now y'all then we're looking crazy this is my first time trying this it looked really good and I am NOT I'm not the type of a cook that has a problem trying other people's recipes so that's what I'm doing I think that might be enough I've never made this before as I said there's gotta be a first time all right and then we're gonna add our hot sauce generous amount of that and the cook on the video says that it might turn the oil a little dark but that's okay and we're using Texas Pete you can use any hot sauce that you have as long as you put hot sauce on it all right we're going to put the garlic powder first and I've got my seasonings open since I only have one hand available garlic powder we're going to put Drang lated onion black pepper I like a lot of people on my chicken seasoning salt now I know that the mustard and the Texas Pete already has some seasoning into it or already has some salt in it but that's the only thought that she puts in hers and we're gonna add some parsley last just to give it the pretty color okay now this is flour anyway when I did the Darius cooks chicken the lemon pepper chicken oh honey fried chicken he suggested using cornstarch and flour so what I've done is I've put two cups of self-rising flour and two cups of this cornstarch in there he said that it makes it crispier so we're gonna try that out so what she does is she puts guard on she puts some parsley in her flour and this is your coating Brian pepper garlic powder and onion powder that's what she puts in her so that's what we're gonna pay an outward I think she also put some seasoning salt but we're not gonna put any seasoning salt what I want is she gonna be hot okay that was a pepper this is the garlic ground garlic the garlic powder and this is the onion powder I had all these things opened up all right and then we're going to give that a stir okay now before we do all of that let's go over here and get this all about it I always use Mazola corn oil I think it gives your fried foods a little better golden color so we're gonna put that eye on by eight then we're gonna add up to about the halfway level of all and this is again my grandma's old cast-iron pot it's my favorite pot in the house probably because one it's her pot and I have something that belong to her and for number two it really conducts heat pretty good it cooks evenly I love to cook I love to fry so it's in this pot I love to make my candied yams in this pot okay that's good we turned the wrong guy on okay but that not about eight all right guys now I've already got everything seasoned what I'm gonna do since everything together and I just hope this is gonna come out good like I said I've never made this recipe before but I think I looked at that video quite a few months back and I was like I'm gonna try that one day today so we're gonna get everything mixed in together we want to make sure that we get all of that seasoning all over this chicken we don't know any part of this chicken to go understand of all this goodness and it's a little bit messy but you know what that's okay we're cooks and we all know what goes on in the kitchen okay but look like we got everything coated pretty good now she didn't marinate her chicken she just called it really good and then she fried it now the next time I cook it I might marinate it a little bit but it depends on the flavor of the chicken when I eat it okay go ahead and there's my hand off we're gonna give our flour mixture a whisk oh that's really pretty make it a Miss it's how we gonna do it a little rhythm going on here I'm going to do six pieces and then we'll see how that's frying in the pan and check this all it's almost ready so we'll go ahead and coat some more flour all over my tripod that when you can still a bit better all right that's seven pieces all right now we're going to go ahead and see if the oil is ready I like to deep fry my chicken because it doesn't matter as much when you deep frying it as it does when you can fry all right so that six pieces reality that 724 in expect go ahead and put that water on and what it's go ahead run good its own ball then I add my Brockett clown now when I'm making my pocket after all this rock is frozen like I said and I get it I bring the water to a boil and as soon as it's boiling I cook the broccoli moon as soon as that comes to normal I let it boil for a few minutes and then I take it off because like I said I don't like mushy broccoli casserole I like from my rocket phones to be whole not all the way holes or not know where it's at all punchy because don't throw the black things not gonna be crunchy anyway but I think but she stuck a casserole this is not gonna be that way but soon they pretty already make sure everything that's being cooked evenly Oh it smells good I could smell the mustard okay all right first of all I like to get cabbages that have the green leaves on it because it makes its per year so when you're chopping it oh when you're cooking it it'll be free and dreams go ahead you take those leaves off and put these to the side for right now [Music] and what I do is going to get that heart out all of it and I feel thattaway put that part but I don't like it it's how to make sake it takes all the difference if there's blame how different of it is it is it stronger flavor I'm more like looking brows pay it once you be I have seen have a chance I'm so big before that the Grizzlies and put them over there but there look tougher no we're gonna fry the schedule all right and give it a rough chop I'm not making fun that's what I wanted people to be really little and so I think we're gonna mix it all off not little big pieces not make monster pieces either now I make homemade slaw and when I do that [Music] [Music] I like to ticket sometimes with fatback drinks but I don't have the time or the patience for the fatback today now I'm trying to get this filled on the wrist and hour and a half maybe two hours I want a neck look like once you have gained women trans in your kitchen it doesn't take you long to come in there and get some real arms and be done with it because you know your kitchens know where everything is and you know how to get anything done I was gonna put all these together it was I roll them up like we are slicing collagen and this is gonna make it really friggin green till we get the broccoli done to go there in founders we already washed off there so most of the water in the off of it I'm going to knock it off and I'll be right back Vince first events of ticket really take it out we let it live it existed I can't wait I'm not gonna try to you and so I sit down for dinner use them in the kitchen tasting and I'm just hopeful by the time I get the whole meal done I'm not gonna taste anything I'm gonna wait okay so let's like that all heat back up a little bit one two three for work by and six alright let that go ahead and start cooking okay at this point we're gonna go ahead and add our broccoli and as I said this is great value broccoli something Walmart and this is a twelve ounce bag now for some reasons big bag don't look like they don't look the same size so I usually get so I'm gonna put three in there but the rest you get cost for two go ahead and get started I'll go ahead and put it on hung up a little bit see if I can get my cabbage going hi guys here is the magic this is from Denny toxins as I said and we use two small text of Rutter crowns 16 ounces of h2 start 13 1 tablespoon of mayo one small pan of Tim's mushroom soup one large onion one and a half sticks of butter and ripped records crust now this is the Richie sound here I'm gonna take us some outside of this also and when we're done at the end of the video I'll go ahead and hover over it seems you take your strings out of it so you'll have it to turn this on high and/or describe a person progress okay you want to fix me me me I know that it's the most down in that hole but I just have it pregnant down a little bit which is ticking it's almost done I just want to make sure that it's down in the center I gotta buy that is there anything even have a drink I'll bet that never happened to Phil even then I was there forget I kissed and I want to have it now I'm go ahead and turn my broccoli off because it's never same football I don't want to loose key and just warm is extremely hot so it's hot but not I'm gonna go ahead and take that out all right I'm gonna go ahead and drain it back just done I'm going to take it out it's write down little I'm gonna go ahead and put the next the last banking in and that's six pieces one oh it so that's it for the tickets I'm one for the fried cabbage six start with better as I said we're going to be using as I said we're gonna be using baking weeks for this cabbage I know that's a lot but if we were making old-fashioned cabbage which this is the same as old-fashioned cabbage we would use that back grief and it's flavorful and that bacon grease compared everything except for D crackers what we're gonna do is go ahead and mix up everything and you see that doesn't look much anything the crowns are basically still hold you're gonna go ahead and you got to put your chopped onion in there that's the large onion and I can't tell you how good this onion is gonna make success roll you'll never lose another a broccoli casserole without the onion it is wonderful you're gonna add 1 cup of the cheese shredded sharp cheddar cheese I don't like to put just a little bit extra and we're gonna save the other half cook to sprinkle on the top okay you're gonna add a heaping tablespoon of what I would you have used for soups mayonnaise but we're using this vegan this again cuz I've let myself rent out Oh to do Smitty's so it's vegan Mayo [Music] then we're gonna put mushroom soup Campbell's is the only brand stuff that I use once you get it going it just slides on out okay that chicken smells so good job oh okay then I add salt and pepper to take that chicken smell up a whole kind of different all we have my big box so I'm spread about that much if you prefer not to add the salt and pepper you don't have to add it to my and then you're gonna stir this up together I have a little bit of extra broccoli do to compensate for that I'm gonna add I'll beat another half can of mushroom soup because I don't want to be soupy nor do I want it to be dry now that looks better that looks more like a that usually looks like now what I'm gonna do is go ahead and spray the bottom over the glass baking dish with him okay all right this helps or 1/2 sticks of butter stick of the butter and milk it and pour that into the capsules this ol is very bit hot so be careful dropping this cabbage in there [Music] [Applause] and all of this at the end is look at this and then they let it boil down a little bit but the water I hit me and then we'll come back and add the way yeah pretty that bring in and the cabbage and everything somebody thought at the same time don't let that cook for a little bit muffin top on it now my butter is completely melted then go ahead and pour that in the castle wall we're going to go ahead and get your other stick no technical steps on Addie forbus from put up talking get in there brother truth [Music] Hey now we got he'll go ahead importance of a casual bit gonna pour this in here and I don't want to waste anything we're gonna make sure we get every last bit get out here okay all right that's as much as I can get we're going to smooth it out you gonna sit quiet for a minute I couldn't find a regular-sized Hopps of Ritz crackers they come up with everything now what they're really doing is giving you less than what you use your back so I have to get this family size I mean it came with these little packs like this you put them all together looks a little bit bigger than a regular sized roller Ritz so what I do is put it in ziplock bag and you're gonna the Friday I think I've tried this recipe with tomorrow crackers before took off I was out of Ritz if I can't keep any cycles cookies offenders in the house the girls eat them and I had to substitute one day and I'll bite this muddy and the same so always sit with your Ritz crackers and they have a lot of different flavors just get whatever you want to this is original okay we're gonna put them in the bag get all the air out and you're gonna toss them with that butter [Music] Oh your brother comes and then you know you supposed to sit about another half of a cup of shredded cheese on top of the casserole so we're gonna do that I smell really very good to the side that's a roll back up here and we're gonna put more cheese on top and you could put as much cube if you want to kind of fit evenly my family loves this with a lot of cheese because they love broccoli and cheese sauce a little extra now what you're going to do is take this topping and spread it all over the top this makes it so good and I found spread it easily and you can put this topping on any comfortable I wouldn't want to put it on macaroni and cheese I've never tried it I don't think I want to mess with that combination but many of your vegetables it would be really good so we're gonna turn the pan down a little bit whoops we didn't have any wasting we're and this is not gonna rise it's gonna sink a little bit so we don't have to worry about anything coming out of the pan we're gonna set it in the oven for one hour alright we got it in the oven you're gonna go ahead and we're gonna go ahead and take this glass bat for chicken out and it's completely done looks delicious now I'm gonna have to fight myself can't wait to taste it okay so now this cat so pretty we're gonna add the rest of our cabbage to I have a little bit left we're not going to add water to this cabbage at all at this point and then wrong if it seems like it's starting mistake then we'll do that it may or may not I've not used this pot or this pan frying pan for a cabbage before so we'll have to see at this point we're gonna go ahead and we're going to start moving it around time [Applause] and it's going to continue to sweat now [Applause] we've got some water at the bottom that's very good this is it about a little bit - okay so we're gonna do since we have all my cabbage in there you're gonna go ahead and I'm gonna put the top back on it and we're gonna let it cook down some more then the next time you open it up we're gonna add some seasoning to it now one thing that putting my cabbage my fried cabbage is salt pepper any other sugar I know a lot of people put bacon and ham and all that stuff in there I really don't do that with my cabbage because I want my cabbage to taste like cabbage now if it was collard greens collard greens need a little extra flavor to it so I usually cook that with some either smoked turkey necks or smoked turkey wings turkey tails or I use the broth off of smoked ham hocks but I don't have any of that today and that's for only for collard greens it's not for my cabbage all right so it's 5:30 now so about 6:30 that casserole should be done but I'll check it before then because I don't want to start browning I'm talking - it will be a little burnt because this stove cooks a little faster than my old stove used to all right guys at this point you gotta go ahead and start adding our seasonings if that water get back into that pot it's sound pretty good we're not gonna do anything to these give your client a little bit that's what's you know this is fried cabbage something is clean heavy but this thing cabbage has lesser ease all right we're gonna put those pieces right back in there oh I love this pan already I'd say that right now yes okay what we're gonna do let's turn it down just a little bit okay [Applause] alright guys this evening I'm adding you here is 1 teaspoon of salt 1 teaspoon of pepper and 2 teaspoons of sugar now that sugar is going to bring out a little bit more water okay you're going to give it a good stir to make sure that we have everything coated with those good seasonings and then we're gonna put the top back on they're still in the water yes [Applause] now while all this is cooking for a while the cabbage is cooking in the broccoli casseroles in the oven we're going to go ahead and we're going to get our own bread in the oven too let's hop back on there okay check on this cabbage again we still have plenty of water in there there's no need to put any in it at this point and you might I need to add me at all but we're gonna keep on cooking it and keep on taking it we got thinner water at the bottom now you shouldn't set anything directly on that so we don't want to surprise when you pick it up in his hot all right we're gonna go ahead and remove the lid from the cabbage and from this point on we're not gonna put the lid back on I think that all of the liquid the water that is in the cabbage have flared out by now so no more going to be released and that's moving on the reason I believe the tarp on for as long as I do to be all of the moisture out so right now I'm going to give it a little chase wait just a little bit yeah we'll give it a taste see what seasonings we need to add and see how fun it is cabbage does not take all day to cook as long as you have some tough pieces you can leave that top on and when you feel like all of the pieces are almost done you need to take the top off cut that heat from that lid trap in there and it'll help that get done faster that's why we don't have any water at the bottom of here we're gonna see what we need to add on the right thank my piece of the fabric or took a little big some of them are but you can slice your cabbage however give up soon I just like to have bigger pieces in mine sometime nowhere near about to get mushy we're gonna put some in a little dish that cool a little bit and get one of those green pieces and one of the thick pieces to make sure that it's all done we're gonna let that cool a little bit and try it all right try this masterpiece now that dick please this time it has just the right amount of sugar we're gonna add a little bit more salt I'll tell you there's nothing like you get all 5 kg corn bit and you can keep clicking this if you want to until it gets round most of time this is how I cook mine maybe a little bit browner but you hear it's lying that's what you want to hear and most cooks there have anything for a while you go as I always say my site you go by look and you go by sound when you click them that's how you're gonna know when your food is done you listen to the sounds that make and when it's flying like this you know that there's no more water in there that songs are all that crying ready to see you a little bit okay we're gonna put the time on this and you're gonna cook this five minutes more and then it's done good more salt no more paper and I am gonna time it that broccoli Castle is smells so good in the oven Oh to tell you guys and girls that you have man cooking for you if anybody has someone cooking for you you better appreciate it because everybody does not put everybody can't cook but if you have somebody in your life that's taking the time to cook dinner for you or put you any meal appreciate them let them know what it tastes like and thank them okay guys that's the last five minutes to hit it with our bag did I cut it off that's it that guy look so it's funny it tastes good it looks good and I can't wait to taste it with the performer okay we're gonna go ahead and move it off of that I because this back I my heat is released back there so I don't want to pick in there we don't want much so we're gonna move it from the eye and we're gonna wait for our plumber in my festival to get done and then we'll be ready to eat okay guys we'll be right back okay guys this is our broccoli and cheese casserole I said I was gonna hover over it because when I take pictures of recipes they tend to float off the page or out of frame when I'm making the video so you take a screenshot of this and you'll have it but this is everything and it's very very good I want you to try it all right guys I just took the broccoli casserole out of the oven and it just stopped boiling you can see it's still bubbling a little bit of that top but this is what the casserole looks like don't look at it this is our cabbage and it's all done and this is our fried chicken wait I'm just waiting on that cornbread to get done it's still in the oven for some reason it's gone a little slow today all right so we're gonna wait on it to make a plate you all right the mill is complete we have the broccoli casserole cornbread mustard fried chicken and cabbage we're getting ready to plate it up and taste it hmm now okay guys now is the moment of truth all right so we're eating everything here we're gonna which one y'all gonna produce to me we've been forgetting to pray sometimes we think about it so much before we start record anything we forget about it so we're gonna make sure we pray today amen thank you all right let's try this chicken first since this is the first time we're trying this recipe yep this is mustard fried chicken no mustard I can't really taste the mustard like that like you're talking but this season is different Oh don't you you got a hassle mr. note a step no it's not different you know [Music] you can hit copy yeah I'm saying I didn't put anything on here but mustard hot sauce garlic powder onion powder and black pepper and season it salt you put yep no neither good they give it some season I guess it took the place of salt it's just brought the casserole that's hoppin Ritz crackers that's what make it good mm-hmm and the broccoli crowns are not all mushy they're still whole - right what's happened give Smokies small occasion not like you want bigger pieces a hot that's hopping is crispy crunchy that so did you sure you won't taste it it's delicious morg Bella you lie properly you do want to taste a casserole even mm-hm what do you have a chase like y'all tried it that's good what you need to do is take the bottom cabbage is anybody home breath inhale have you cornered him yeah I've tried that before no it's disgusting it's disgusting mm-hmm not really that go first white lemonade flavor that can eat this bothered that I everyday I know right blood was come out of it get me wrong mmm are you finishing I know you're not put the clinic I think the next time I make it I'm putting the spices and stuff on it and the most of them kick in them hats on it and let it sit and figure to overnight marinate all tonight what we did we cook car that blew it chocolate milk it's delicious okay all right so on that note we're gonna go ahead and end this out because we started talking crazy okay alright guys thanks for
