the original sin ladies and gentlemen was not eating the fruit in the garden that was a manifestation of the original sin do you want to know what the original sin was the original sin that causes all other sins [Applause] I want to summon your senses and invite your intellect to the gospel that has been recorded by Luke chapter number 14 Luke chapter 14 sorry Luke chapter 15 Luke chapter 15 and we want to begin reading in verse number 11 Luke chapter 15 verse number 11 Luke chapter 15 verse 11 it is there at the Holy Spirit has highlighted for us this familiar passage of Scripture begin with verse number 11 of Luke chapter 15 your Bible should read and he said a certain man had two sons and the younger of them said to his father father give me the portion of goods that falls to me and he divided unto them his living not many days after the younger son gathered all together and took his journey into a far country and there wasted his substance with riotous living and when he had spent all their rolls of famine a mighty famine in the land and he began to be in want and he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country and he sent him into his fields to feed swine and he would fain have filled his belly with the husks that the swine did he and no man gave unto Him and when he came to himself he said how many hired servants of my father's have bread enough and to spare and I perish with hunger I will arise and go to my father and will say unto him father I have sinned against heaven and before you and AM no more worthy to be called your son make me as one of your hired servants and he arose and came to his father but when he was yet a great way off his father saw him and had compassion and ran and fell on his neck and kissed him and the son said unto him father I have sinned against heaven and in your sight and AM no more worthy to be called your son but the father said to his servants bring forth the best robe and put it on him and put a ring on his hand and shoes on his feet and bring here the fatted calf and kill it and let us eat and be merry for my son was dead and is alive again he was lost and is found and they began to be merry I want to tag this text go home go home this passage ladies and gentlemen is one of the signature passages of scripture that teach us about grace more often than not when we speak of grace we agree in concert that grace is God's unmerited favor but I want to suggest to you this morning that if we only see grace as God's unmerited favor then we are only seeing grace from the eyes of a recipient and therefore to only see grace as unmerited favor is to only see grace as an effect and not a cause in order for us to have a comprehensive grasp of grace we've got to attempt to see grace from its calls and not just from the aspect of its effect that means we have to see grace not just from our human angle but we have to see grace from God angle in order to comprehensively grasp the scope of grace it is true that grace is God's unmerited favor but that's the impact of grace on our lives the question that begs us this morning is how does grace affect God God is the cause the source the origin of grace and therefore a much fuller perspective on grace has to originate with his view of grace and not just ours we are the beneficiaries of grace we comprehend grace because it is his unmerited favor on our lives but from God's perspective grace is more than unmerited favor let's push this envelope a little further since grace is unmerited favor on our lives then it also means that grace has to be God's desire for self expression and therefore God's desire for self expression supersedes our necessity to be saved as a matter of fact ladies and gentlemen being saved is a benefit of God expressing himself if God does not express himself then you and I have no opportunity to be saved but our very salvation is the fruit of God's self-expression pastor Morgan where are you pulling that from it is in John 3 and 16 for God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son the giving of his son for our salvation is the fruit of God expressing his love and therefore ladies and gentleman grace isn't just unmerited favor but grace is God's desire for self-expression since he is loved he has to express himself because if he does not express himself then he goes unfulfilled you and I know very well ladies and gentlemen that God has given us the capacity to love and the capacity of love so that we can express ourselves and since God is love God has to express himself and one of his many expressions is the extension of grace towards us grace is God's desire for self-expression that is unconditional towards whomever he chooses to express himself you and I find this in the principle of first mention in Genesis chapter 6 where God has decided to destroy the earth but within his decision of expressing his wrath the Bible says in Genesis 6 and 8 but God found grace in the eyes of Noah we ultimately know why God wanted to you we ultimately know what God used Noah for in number one building the ark to preserving humanity and three being the next engine that will continue humanity after the flood we know what God called Noah for but the only reason we know why he chose Noah is Grace well here's the issue is that God had other options God could have chosen any other man or a woman to be the engineer of the Ark but he chose Noah one because he wanted to but two he chose Noah because that's who he decided to express himself to and ladies and gentlemen if I don't say anything else in this little Easter speech this morning you ought to already be happy because whatever God has chosen you for and whatever God is using you for it is simply because number one he wanted to and number two is going to express himself to you and through you that's reason enough ladies and gentlemen to celebrate the grace of God for the rest of our lives because grace ladies and gentlemen reminds us that God has other options but God chose you to express himself through simply because he wanted to there were other women he could have used but he chose Mary there were other men he have used but he chose Noah there were other men he could have used to be the progenitors of the people of Israel and eventually the chosen of God but he chose Abram there are the people God could have used to do what you do but he chose you one because he wanted to I'm - it is more important to God that he express himself - and through us and thus he has transferred on to us the capacity to love so that we can express ourselves to others and through others grace ladies and gentlemen is God's choice and desire of self-expression ultimately ladies and gentlemen you do not want to be in love with somebody who is forced to love you you want to be in love with somebody who chooses to love you you you you want to be in love with somebody who knows your imperfections and steal won't you preach stolen Morgan you want somebody who wants to choose you and not be forced to love you that's that's that's the real love of God that's the unconditional love of God that God chooses to express himself not just out of our necessity but out of his desire that's really the lesson that it's tucked away in this most familiar parable that is erroneously labeled the parable of the prodigal son this is not the parable of the prodigal son this parable is about the parable of the unconditional love of the father this this parable is about the father this pear is not about the Sun the Sun is a means to an end that highlights and spotlights the unconditional love of this father and this lengthy parable that begins verses before it is a stream of illustrations that points to the unconditional love of God notice in this parable ladies and gentlemen that this father has two sons [Music] one older one younger and the younger boy decides one day that he is ready to be on his own he is ready to leave home he is ready to take his share of his father's inheritance and go live life his way his father gives him his inheritance the Bible says he spends it on riotous living to the point that he does not have resources when he really needs it because a famine hit the place where he chose to go so he is both in a famine with no finances the story becomes even more complicated that while he is there in the famine with no finances he hooks up with some friends who are citizens of that country and they help him to get a job feeding pigs and by the time he gets into this Pigpen he is not only broke and in despair but he has become his own famine because he has to now resort to eating the husks that pig eat in a pig pen verse 17 says a traumatic and pivotal moment happens when he in that Pigpen came to himself when he came to himself he begins to rehearse his confession that he was going to give to his father once he decided to go back home verse 18 he starts to rehearse his confession on his way home he gets home in verse 21 and he gets before his father and finally gets a chance to present his rehearsed confession that he had been rehearsing since verse 18 to his father and his father does not even acknowledge the confession his father immediately turns to the servants and says let's call a party kill the fatted calf bring a robe ring and shoes for my son that was dead is now alive he was lost and is now found verse 24 says and they begin to be merry that's a synopsis of the story would you rewind with me that you and I may try to ascertain the truths of this passage and that we may apply it to our life and living and see in this story not just a prodigal son but a loving father who stands ready waiting and women to receive wayward children but that's good news already if I don't say anything else I need somebody in here that sees and hears me to know that God never move from his spot though you did god still is in the same place waiting for you to come back to him and receive you into his love that's that's the real lesson of this story he does it all by his grace and by his love may you and I enter into the front door of this passage and see some interesting things that this Texas tended to teach us about the sons request verses 11 through 13 tell us in the sons requests he requests his portion of his inheritance that he knows is eventually legally he is according to inheritance law 2/3 of the father's possessions go to the oldest child son and one-third goes to the next oldest son so he can only get 1/3 of his father's possessions there are two issues that you and I need to highlight here that a critical to understand of this passage first of all he is entitled to this inheritance but legally it is not his until after his father has died but this text says that his father who is yet living consents to his son's request and gives him his inheritance while he is still alive so that means ladies and gentlemen that if the father gives his inheritance to his son while the father is still alive the inheritance is not technically his sons it is still his father's possession while his son is of steward over something that still belongs to his living father ladies and gentlemen I don't care who you are I don't care where you are in your life I don't care what you have amassed I don't care what you have collected in this life as long as the father is alive none of it is yours it all belongs to a living father who has loaned it to you for the time of you being of this planet nothing it all belongs to the Lord and it will always belong to the Lord because he cannot die Psalm 24:1 says the earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof the world and they that dwell therein and you and I don't own anything but our sins and our grave and even God sent Jesus to take that from us our sins have been placed on the Lord Jesus Christ so that I time in the grave is temporary so all belongs to God this boy got an inheritance that technically was never his in the first place and that means that even watched me church even when that boy left home he is still living off of his father's possessions his attempt to escape his father's reign and rule was actually futile at the beginning of this text because nothing was ever his in the first place this father is the lives and therefore whatever his son has still belongs to the Father so not only is this loaned property but the text also says there is a a painful suggestion from this boy that if it is legally true that you can only have this after your father is dead then it suggests Church that you're very request means that your father is dead in your own mind it somehow suggests that you making this request means that you view your father as dead or wish he was dead it's a painful lesson ladies and gentlemen that any and all of our efforts to try to live life away from God is equivalent of viewing God as dead man I suggest to you that this boy is guilty of the most original sin ever this is one of the reasons why this story is tucked away in Luke's Gospel because this boy in this parable is a New Testament version of the original sin the original sin ladies and gentlemen was not eating the fruit in the garden that was a manifestation of the original sin do you want to know what the original sin was the original sin that causes all other sins is the sin of wanting to be independent from God that's the original sin that is the sin that has caused all other sins this boy desires independence from the Father and his original sin of wanting to be free from the father's rule and reign and restrictions and regulations has led to a domino effect in a series of all other sins do you see Lucifer in this boy who while he was in heaven wanted to be independent of God's authority and power so he raised up a rebellion to try to overthrow God and end up being evicted out of heaven only to have a residence in earth and hell do you see Adam and Eve in this boy who in Genesis chapter 3 verse 5 that speaking serpent speaks to Eve and says God doesn't want you to eat of the fruit because he doesn't want you to have the knowledge of good and evil as God's because if I become God I don't need God come here the ultimate original sin is independence from God this boy wants to be liberated from life under God's rule he wants independence from his father which was the original cause of everything else that has gone wrong in his life not your question to me pastor Morgan is why is it that this boy wanted independence from his father why is that he pops up one day and says I don't want to be under my father's house anymore I want my portion that is going to be eventually mines I want it now so that I can go to live life my wing what is the reason for him not wanting to no longer reside under his father's reign and round it's the same reason that you and I struggle with right now because when we read this story everything this boy is trying to do is an attempt to satiate his flesh so what he does ladies and gentlemen he forfeits the perfect environment for the freedom of the flesh I know you don't want to say Amen I get it because because all of us at some point in our lives have been guilty of abandoning the right environment just so we could do what our flesh wants us to do because naturally ladies and gentlemen the flesh does not like rules regulations restrictions and restraints we see that even now people are protesting to be free from home with the directive to stay home is an attempt to save your life but the power of the flesh is so strong that we don't like restrictions even if it means forfeiting the perfect environment I'm talking to somebody in here who knows that politicizing your self in trouble because you forfeited the perfect environment just for the freedom of the flesh you find yourself still dealing with some of life's challenges because God gave you the perfect environment all of your needs were met but you didn't like to be restricted you didn't like to be restrained so you wanted freedom of the flesh this boy is a demonstration of what happens when you forfeit the perfect environment just for the freedom of the flesh I know you don't want to say nothing now because you saved sanctified and feel with the precious Holy Ghost and you don't struggle with the flesh but for all the rest of us real people in our online land you and I understand that when we get saved salvation and the Word of God imposes restrictions on us that are not intended to put us in prison but they're intended to give us life and so we are engaged in this battle between God's righteousness and our own flesh when the truth of the matter is some days God has restricted you to save you God has limitations on you to keep you alive and we have to battle with the flesh because the flesh wants to be free and do what it wants to do when it's gonna kill us in freedom when we can stay alive by lord have mercy today this boy demonstrates the struggle of being at home with everything he needed every provision he never warded is right there at the house but the problem is his flesh is like that and he doesn't understand that Sunday's you've got to sacrifice what your flesh won't in order to stay alive isn't that the story that you and I see every day in the state of Georgia isn't that the story that you and I see every day around America the real spiritual warfare that you and I are in right now is we've got to subdue our flesh so that we can stay alive and stay at the house he forfeits the perfect environment for the freedom of the flesh but that's not the worst part of it the worst part of this y'all is not the request of the son but the worst part of it is the fulfillment of the father in meeting the requests I got a question you'd not gonna ask it so I'll ask it for you hey father why would you grant the request of a disrespectful son if you know this boy is operating wayward Lane it's one thing that he asks for this but it's another thing that you actually told him yeah I'll give you what you want why would you grant the request of a wayward disrespectful son why would you give him the portion that he asks for when we read this story we discover then ultimately the father gave this boy what he asks for so that what he asks for could eventually correct it sometimes God has to correct you by giving you what you asked for sometimes God will give you exactly what you asked for because what you ask for is gonna help you find out what you really mean sometimes God has a permissive will and in his permissive will he will give you what you asked for because what you asked for is going to eventually bring you back to his divine will can I help you theologically and tell you ladies and gentlemen God has a permissive wheel that will bring you into alignment with his divine will I'm trying to tell you that sometimes in God's permissive will God will give you what you shouldn't have so you can figure out what you ought to have I got rerun in my mind God will give you the very thing you should not have so you can figure out what you oughta have God will give you a relationship so you can figure out what a good one looks like God will give you a business deal the truth will stop being so desperate and stop being a hustler and be patient and let God bring you to the right people at the right time God will allow bad things to happen to try to bring you to a good place at times ladies and gentlemen God will give you what you ask for because at times the correction you need is in the choices you've made you should have even given this boy this he didn't he didn't earn it he didn't deserve it he's asking for it for all the wrong reasons and you gave it to him anyway yeah but I had to let him experience the consequences of his own choices lord have mercy today hold your boy right here I had to let him experience correction by his own choices so that he would figure out what he really needs in life so he gives him what he's shutting it gave him so he'll eventually start a journey to figure out what he really needs that's God's word for somebody in here you're trying to ask God a God why did you allow this to happen why is this going on where are you why won't you respond sometimes ladies and gentlemen God will give you what you don't or shouldn't have so that you can figure out what you really need I want to submit again today that this pandemic is not God's doing but it is God's will because it is calling many of us back home yeah it's calling you back to the house you haven't prayed this much in your whole life you haven't listened to this much preaching in your whole life you haven't heard this much gospel music your entire but tragedy has happened I've been permitted by God's will to push you back into God's will and so his requests is within God's permissive will so that God's permissive will can push him back into God's divine will that's the sons requests check out the sons results he gets what he asked for in these results in his requests he gifts his little money and the first thing he does is takes off into what the text calls a far country a far country dr. David winds burger which is a Jewish New Testament professor says that this far country geographically was only two miles from the father's house now you and I understand two miles isn't far but he called it two miles a far country he is suggesting you're that far country is how far your heart is from the father and not your feet far country is you can be right there close to somebody but your mind is gone someplace else your your feet are not definitive of far country your heart and your mind define far country this boy was in a place where he was no longer thinking about the father or the father's we'll get to that far country and the interesting thing about being in that far country is that it was the place that was marked as the place where he left the father now I need y'all to keep in mind I'm gonna push the envelope on this the father never left him he left the father ladies and gentlemen sin does not push God away from you sin pushes you away from God the Father even at the end of the story receives this wayward child despite how disobedient and dis that he was seeing causes separation between us and God but the separation is not on God's behalf only its own our behalf because sin causes us to be so conscious in our own flesh that we become unconscious of God when the truth is God never left you lord have mercy because it's not possible for somebody who's everywhere to leave anywhere it's not possible for somebody who is omnipresent to not ever be there can I tell you ladies and gentlemen God cannot not be let me try one more time you can't be everywhere at the same time and be nowhere anytime wherever God is and wherever there is a-there God is there and wherever you are God is there despite your way witness that's right God was there in the club to make sure that she while you was in your sin you walked out of there alive God was there in the street to make sure that when trouble was always around you he preserved you long enough to give you another chance to come back to him God has not let you though you have left God seeing has a way of separating us but thanks be to God it doesn't change God's posture though it has altered our posture and that distance put him in a far place from God's consciousness from his heart towards God but note distance was not convincing enough to send that boy back home he gets in that far country and the Bible says he went broke spending his money on riotous living on riotous living translated he spent money on pleasure and not priorities and he end up broke not because he never had money he ended up broke because he did have enough morality preaching here Tolan Morgan ladies and gentlemen money is a revelation of your morality because money reveals your character you spend money on your character which is the reason why you don't have money when you need to because you're so busy spending money on sin that you don't have it when you're really needed so money is not the issue he was morally broke and because he was morally broke he we financially broke but note debt was not convincing enough to send that boy back home he's in the far country he goes broke and the next thing that happens is the Bible says a famine hit that land a famine hit the land and when the famine hit the land y'all he's distant any in debt so he doesn't have money when he needs it because he spent it all on the flesh now this part of the story is not his fault because where he is there has now been a drought and that is the doing of Providence this was God's Way of making sure this wayward boy felt the full brunt of his wayward decisions with the intent to get him to regret his decision God understands ladies and gentlemen that the reign of sin is not going to be broken over our lives until we face circumstances that make us regret our choices but note the tract was not convincing enough to send that boy back home distance didn't send him home debt didn't send him home drought didn't send him home but it wasn't until he experienced degradation [Music] that Pigpen lord have mercy today was the thing that finally convinced this boy that go home what happened in that Pigpen that convinced this boy to go home it was in the Pigpen where he got a job feeding swine but before he got the job feeding swine the text says he hooked up and joined two citizens of that country and those citizens of that country helped him get a job feeding swine which I'll follow this sequence he hooked up with some people who led him to a job of feeding swine and that doesn't matter to you until you understand that in the law according to Leviticus chapter 11 verse 7 if you were a Jew swine or pigs are declared unclean so under normal circumstances this boy would not have ever gotten a job feeding swine because feeding swine is not only the lowest job you can get but it is deplorable and illegal but his getting a job doing something illegal was the result of hooking up with the wrong people Lord hem mercy the day the text says he got hooked up with citizens of that country and they helped him get a job doing something he had no business doing in other words when he got hooked up with the wrong people he got involved in unclean activity oh lord have mercy I don't mean to be nosy in your business today but maybe this is a good time to quarantine our relationships the question today is who are you hooked up to that keeps bringing you to a low level that you have no intention on going who are you connected to that all they do is bring you down to a place you do not want to be if you are following the sequence of this passage an impaired relationship with the father will result in improper relationships with people I got rewind in my mind if your relationship with God is not right you will engage in the wrong relationships with people who will eventually take you to the lowest of low and it will produce unclean activity and it is in this moment that he's finally decided I'm gonna go home your question to me presser is why wasn't the distance the debt and the drought convincing enough to make him go home the distance the debt and the drought didn't make him go home because the distance the debt and the drought never forced him to see himself it wasn't until he got into that Pigpen lord have mercy the day that he got low enough that the only person he could see that low was himself sometimes ladies and gentlemen you have to experience a low plane so that you can finally turn around and go up because the lower you get the more susceptible you are to see yourself the Bible says in verse 17 and he came to himself lord have mercy I can tell you that sometimes it takes to go to a low place for you to finally face yourself because seeing possesses the power to make you betray yourself he came to himself that explains his behavior can tell you what that means that means from verse 11 to verse 17 this boy was on vacation from himself he stepped out of himself and allowed himself to engage in ungodly behavior and lost himself trying to be wonderful away from the father and the only thing he end up doing is betraying himself turning on himself and by the time he got to that Pigpen it was the turning point he needed because it was the very thing necessary to make him see himself it's an interesting story ladies and gentlemen that reminds us that we've got to make sure that while we struggle with sin we don't succumb to sin because the ultimate casualty of sin is the sinner the ultimate person who is going to suffer is you and I because we get lost in ourselves trying to have life away from the Father I want to raise this interesting point there's an elephant in the room in this text and you got to get this ladies and gentlemen did you notice Lord hold your boy right here he found himself after he lost everything it wasn't until he lost everything that he found the one thing that's most valuable himself and sometimes ladies and gentlemen you will discover yourself after you've lost some things in your life that is the operative question in this season God what do you want me to find based on what I've lost I'm gonna give you a second to write that down I'm gonna give you a second to post that God what do you want me to find based on what I have lost because here's the grace of the text the grace of the text is God will so orchestrate life lord have mercy but he's already raised it for you to run into you he has removed everything that took you away from you so that you can run into you and you need to have a conversation with you you need to step outside of you look at you and say what the hell are you doing who I have you stepped away from every resource necessary get your mind right get your life right go back to the Father because everything you need is in the father's house that boy got down to the Pigpen and found what he left he found himself because he left himself as a result of leaving the father God's Word to somebody in this season is that I'm calling you back to yourself but it begins with you coming back to the Father make a decision today that I've got to come back to the Father so that I can find myself it's one thing to have trouble in the world outside of you but it's another thing to be void of who you are on the inside this boy comes back to himself in verse 17 it is Luke's way of suggesting that the boy was insane it is Luke's way of suggesting that sin can drive you insane sin can lead you to a place where you no longer know who you are you no longer have a relationship in a a relativity and an identification with yourself comes to himself in that pig pen and his senses come back his mind comes back his right thinking returns and he realizes he has an epiphany right there and in pickling do you know what it was he said man the servants at my father's house are living better than me they're not even they're not even his children but they're okay cuz they're in the right place Lord that'll preach right there they're not even his flesh and blood but they're being well taken care of because they're at his house he says I'm gonna return home and go back to my father's house the servants are eating good in my father's house gets that church you're following this text here's what we got a grass that boy left home and end up in a far country in a pig pen where there's a famine which which which one writer suggests was only two miles away but he remembers and recalls and reflects they pigpen that while I'm here in this famine there's food at my daddy's house okay you missed it he is suggesting that famine is where I'm at but there is no famine at my daddy's house which is only two miles away there's food there for the servants but I have walked away from provision and now I'm in a place of famine and where I am there is no provision but there's food in my daddy's house let me go back to where there is provision because where I am there is suffering and shortage there is no shortage in my father's house there is no famine in my father's house there is no shortage in my father's house let me go back and be there because I finally experience that freedom of the flesh can lead to fatality but if I stay under the father's covering there is life and provision in my father's house he has consciousness and conviction he has this place of repentance if you following this passage we got the son's requests and the sons results which lead to the son's repentance in verses 17 18 he said hold on let me turn around when I get to my daddy I got to confess that I've done your own I should have stayed I dishonored your authority trying to seek my own way that boys begins to speak to himself in verse 18 19 and 20 he's rehearsing all the way home what he's gonna say to his dad he gets to the house verse 21 he gets in front as dad and the Bible says something beautiful the Bible says his father is standing technically on the porch of the house in the same spot where the boy left the father is in the same spot where the boy left sees the boy afar off runs and kisses the boy and celebrates his return I'm trying to tell you ladies and gentlemen that God has not left you even though you've left God he is standing where you left him in the same spot waiting on you to return so that he can celebrate your return and as he returns he looks at his daddy something beautiful happens in verse 21 and 22 he looks at his dad and said daddy listen I'm sorry I should have never left I'm not worthy to be your son can you at least just give me a job as a servant can you give me a job as a servant did y'all notice something beautiful in verse 22 the father never acknowledged his sons confession he turned straight to the servants and said listen go kill the fatted calf go get a ring a robe and some shoes put the best robe on him put a ring on his finger and put some shoes on his feet I need to pause here and and and and and and celebrate the son's return I'm a close here this is the son's return did y'all notice the father never acknowledged that boy's confession he never asked that boy where's my stuff you took from me oh when are you gonna return it cuz it was all mine in the first place he never obligated that boy to retribution he never really out of his confession cuz he was so excited that the boy was back in his house he called for an immediate party to just celebrate the boys return which means y'all that father had already forgive that son before he could get the confession out lord have mercy today the father was already ready to forgive him even when he had returned can I tell you why because when you leave God God does not change towards you God stands ready to bring you back into the house with his love and with His grace that's good news for somebody he remains the same yesterday today and forever more and that is the grace of God it is his choice to express his unconditional love to us and he waits until you return already prepared to forgive you already prepared to receive you back into the fold already prepared to restore you back in right relationship let me prove it to you come here come in part of the return was was not just a prepared sense of forgiveness from the father but the other part of it y'all was his compassion and his celebration look what he says to the servants he said listen my boy is back go get a robe a ring and some shoes hold on I'm slow see I got to help me when that boy left the house he wasn't naked when that boy left the house he was not barefooted he was fully robed but by the time he came back home it is the portrait that he's naked the father brings him home and says put shoes on his feet where'd your shoes go put a robe on him whereas your attire put a ring on his finger because ladies and gentlemen God understands that when you walk away from him the world possesses the potential to undress you the world possesses the potential to bring you back vulnerable and naked and shameful you left covered but you come back neck it and uncovered and God's first job is to read rest who the world undress break stolen Morgan might I suggest to you to take that when you come back into the fold God already has what you need to cover you again so that you are not exposed and not vulnerable and not victimized by the world's impact you left dress came back undress so God can redress your life and here's the good news whoa here's the good news if he got him a ring a robe and some shoes it is his intent to make the son look like the father the ring is exclusive to the Father the robe can be worn by the father so when he redresses him he makes him look not like that's just my son but I want to make you look like you're me because when I dress you I wanna put the imago Dei on you that's an image of God so that you look like God and you don't look like what you've been through can you tell somebody this God wants you to look like the father and not failure preach pastor Morgan you've experienced enough failure in your life but when God he's gonna make you look like you never failed he gonna cover you did you notice that boys coming straight from the Pigpen and nobody has yet watched him he's not coming back to the Father perfect and clean and smelling good he's coming just as he is he's coming messed up stinky and shameful but God brings him in just to cover him God bring us back to a place where the church covers and corrects us and doesn't just throw us out to be exposed and and put on on on on the chopping block because of our sin the job of Jesus Christ on the cross was to wash our sins away and when we wash our sins away the church now continues in helping people to walk in their washing and not exposed their mess and put them on the chopping block thank God that God doesn't treat you the way people treat you thank God that God doesn't expose you like he might should have but he's got grace to cover you so that you will walk upright before him he's got a ring for you he's got a robe for you he's got shoes for you and the goal of the attire is to make you look like him that his spirit his image would be on you I quit church I'm done we wouldn't be a return if there was no celebration he says to the service not listen go get in the attire that makes him look royal and not rag it makes him look special and not shameful makes him look like he's got victory and not been victimized he said but listen we got to celebrate I'll be out celebrating boys just coming back home well we got to celebrate because while he was away he was dead Lord hold your boy right here somebody picked your face at verse 23 and 24 listen at what that father said about his boy we got to celebrate because my son was dead and is now alive he was lost and is now found oh you don't know when he could happy South shot myself that father says that that boy was dead but you and I know that boy wasn't dead that boy was in the far country doing what he wanted to do got broke experienced famine and he never died but he was dead ladies and gentlemen the theology tucked away in this text is that any attempt to live life independent of God means that you are dead while you're alive come in come in come in to try to live life away from God means that you are the walking dead the tragedy of life is to be dead while you alive the tragedy of life is to have no joy no peace no love but if you connect with the father you get all of the above it is the principle that is continued from the book of Genesis guess guess what God told Adam he said man if you eat of this fruit you shall surely die meaning ladies and gentlemen your life is not going to end immediately but you're gonna be separated from God that's what the Bible's definition of death is it is separation from God because you've been spiritually separated from God you experienced physical death but now when you get back to the father's house he is suggesting that that boy died but the only reason why he made it back it's because he's been resurrected he is dead he is experiencing resurrection he says my son was dead but is now alive he has experienced resurrection God has seen fit to preserve his life through the worst of times so he could come back into my house that's good news for somebody would you would you help somebody understand that God is preserving you through the worst of times so that you could get back to God's house so that you can get back to God's presence so you can get back to God's provision so you can get back to God's preservation and no matter how bad it is you gotta thank God that God is keeping you alive through the worst of times that boy was dead but it's now found he was lost but has now been brought back to the father's house and he finds out that the best place for me to be is at home or have mercy today the best place for me to survive is at home to make it back to his presence that's really what that boy was doing when he got back home it was his means of coming back into right fellowship with the father being back into God's presence and every provision he needed was right there at the house the job the job catch it he stayed alive when he was at home every provision he needed was at home thanks be to God God will meet every need right there in your house I need somebody in here to testify that God will meet every need of your life right there in your house and we got to give God praise that he'll give us a chance to make it back to the house father I give you glory and honor today that your word is live and living that it is applicable in our lives and we thank you for sparing us long enough to make it back home distance wasn't good enough debt wasn't convincing enough drought wasn't convincing enough but when we got to that place where we could finally see ourselves it was convincing enough so god help somebody to see themselves today help somebody to come back to themselves [Music] help somebody God to be able to know that your permissive will is bringing them in alignment with your divine will and we give you glory for it now because what it simply means God is that all things are working together for the good of them that love the Lord and are called according to your purpose thank you God for working all things back for our good thank you for your amazing grace and has brought us into your safe presence and we give you glory for it now in Jesus name Amen would you take a minute to celebrate the Lord take a min to give Him glory for his word take a meander thank him from meeting every need in your house meeting every need in your house and thanks be to God but even when we left God he didn't leave us lord have mercy His grace is sufficient and by His grace we are saved [Music]
