FINALLY Tried this Jerry Curl Activator on my TYPE 4 Hair

hello okay so you guys it's just welcome back to my channel if this is your first time here welcome subscribe down below yah-yah-yah to follow me on instagram all that fun stuff so more importantly I usually don't like to hop on the YouTube trends or the the Instagram trends there was a video circulating maybe a month or two or three ago I'm not sure of this young lady forgot her name I will post post it right here trying like jheri curl juice her as pearl juice on her hair and I was like what in the world is this foolery what is that at the time I thought she was actually giving herself like a jheri curl using like the jheri curl perm or whatever and I was like I'm not about to watch this but then I start seeing my YouTube friends do it I see a happy girl happy girl aka Raina do it she can do it I was like okay fine I'm gonna try it now my hair is a little different than then a lot of people's videos that I watched I'm a little more rough around the edges you know what I'm saying so whatever I just decided to try it here it is y'all I went to the store I bought this doggone s curl juice curl and wave activator blah blah and I was just like oh my gosh is this gonna mess up my hair it's just safe I don't know I thought but we're gonna figure it out together we're gonna see if this stuff works on the on the type for so I just washed my hair and conditioned it I'm planning leave-in conditioner in yet I just kind of been letting it air dry I'm using the honey hydrate leave-in conditioner right here and all the products that I'm using girl I know you go fathers young girl I know I know there'll be links in my description box where you guys can get them so I'm gonna first start off with believin let's put you know a little base on my hair before I put this foolery in my hair YouTube made me do it period YouTube maybe do it I'm sorry oh we love to see it products not even close to soaking into my low porosity strands for those of you who keep on asking me if you can't tell I'm low porosity the lowest of the low these products just do not soak into my hair at all all right give me a minute I'm gonna work this in and then I'll be right back this is really the best I could do I tried I really did all right so now let's get on to the fun stuff I'm gonna section my hair into four sections like so love that for me and now it's time so I've seen everyone pairing this activator with a gel on top so what's the hair store and I was like where is the extreme wet line gel are you guys all just buying up all the extreme wet line gel is that what you're doing we're just not gonna talk about it okay we're not going to talk about it you guys cut it out we're not gonna talk about it so now that we've got that out of the way let's start with a piece in the back we're start with a small piece doesn't good guys all right it's first this is water okay brush detangle Dedmon whatever I know why this isn't sitting well with my soul all right let's do this you got a little anti frizz it has olive oil argan oil is paraben free mm-hmm sure hmm okay so slide this in let's put a little more okay so that's done almost absolutely nothing for my hair so we're gonna go over it with the eco styler gel and see if that causes any magic as you can see I've been very quiet because I just I don't have anything to say but maybe these two together want to cause some type of world shifting coral polished and we can carry on okay okay huh I wasn't really expecting that I also have not used eco styler gel in a very long time so I kind of forgot how good it was so why don't we stop using this again I don't know oh and this was a guy this is type of guy I would go for one who has definition and knows where it's going in life I like that okay before we get excited we're gonna keep going because you know my hair just those different things all the time depending on what section we're in but I just don't get it because this curl activator stuff feels like water on my hair there's definitely no way at all that would use it by itself no never never no but when paired with this eco styler gel zero frizz it's forgivable it's forgivable all right use a little more this time let's really go crazy with it you know go deep in there and it feels just like water in my hair oh wait hold on wait wait wait wait a minute layaway.we it wait a minute hold on I'm putting a little bit more I guess I wasn't using enough on the first one but this looks a lot better whoa hey put on you'll see what just the curl activator is doing oh my goodness oh my god it looks so good oh my gosh I know youtubers are always like well I wasn't expecting this but no I really I really was not expecting this this is just the curl activator alone right after I just said I wouldn't use it alone I mean I'm still not gonna use it a lot let's not get crazy you know there's not let's not get out of hand here but I'm putting the gel over right now oh my gosh that looks good looky here all right so I'm gonna do two things so one I'm gonna come out of this shirt because I'm like two seconds away from flashing you guys every time I get all close up new shirts I'm going to finish this back section really quick and then we're gonna come back and regroup all right so the back is done it looks really really really really good you can see that I'm so surprised I really am I didn't think this was gonna do anything for my hair because it's just a lot more coarse in the videos that I was watching earlier so I was like I don't know if this is gonna work out well but it seems to be working out pretty well for me no arguments here we're gonna see how it all works together right now [Music] okay guys I'm done with this half of my hair and I am just I'm sure I have no worry it just looks so good do you are you guys seeing what I see all right is the camera bogus oh wow that's uh that's some courage if you ever seen it we just gotta be real with ourselves so this is my hair with no product at all just a leave-in conditioner and this is my hair with the S curl activator and the eco styler gel so all right so what I'm gonna do I'm just gonna go throughout this side of my hair and finish it off camera really quick and then we'll be back and then we will go from there okay so my hair is all done oh my gosh it looks so good you guys I'm sure I think it looks so good here's the bag I don't know what it looks like bear with me today I think it looks extremely good right now so well let this air dry do y'all see this come on somebody come on hmm okay all right so I'll be back tomorrow hey guys so it's the next day I haven't done anything to my hair all I've done is just take it out of my satin bonnet I was laying on flat on my head all night but I have to say I'm very pleased with the definition yes but mostly like the moisture in my hair like my hair feels like pillow soft and just moisturize zero crunch no flakes I don't see a flake in sight not a flake in sight so yeah my hair feels extremely soft it's a little concerning because when my hair is super soft and like not much hold I don't know how long my wash and gos will last so that's why I'm not gonna manipulate it too much today I'm not gonna stretch it like I normally do I'm literally just gonna leave it like this and let it grow over time like they look so good love this for me so my final thoughts of this s-curl jheri curl whatever product loved it I will definitely try this product again chef's ecostyler for coming through for your girl when I couldn't find any more wet line gel god Is this a safe space? As a child of the 80s, I had a jheri curl for way longer than was socially acceptable. I had to beg and plead with my mom to let me grow it out. She had an attitude about it for years to because she insisted it looked cute (she was wrong). So, it's real crazy that *cough, cough* years later, I'm sitting as an adult with Natural hair saving this video to my watch later seriously considering grabbing some care free curl gold. Life is strange.

So I'm dating myself here, but used Carefree curl gold on my natural hair for many years. It not bad stuff if you're not protein sensitive. My only issue would be hair swelling in summer...lol it would still be soft and curly but gigantic! I did the perm thing in the 80's but went natural in the mid 90's. it was an interesting time to be natural.

OnlyOneJess is a natural hair youtuber with short/medium length, low porosity, high density, type 4 natural hair. She has not disclosed her strand thickness.

OnlyOneJess started her youtube channel in November of 2016, with a wig review. From this point, she slowly progressed into making more and more natural hair content, until this became the focus of her channel. Her favorite styles include wash and goes, twist outs, and braidouts. Among her fanbase, she is notorious for failing to keep protective styles in for any significant length of time--removing her recent set of minitwists in just a few days, for example.

Jess started coloring and bleaching her hair at the end of 2017, roughly a year after she began her channel. She began blonde, as can be seen in this video, and dyed her hair various shades of orange, brown and red, the red tones in particular becoming a small part of her brand.

Color began to take a toll on Jess's hair, becoming especially notable in mid to late 2019 and early 2020. Jess reported breakage, dryness, and described her hair as feeling like sandpaper. She also described her hair drying extremely quickly, which is a sign of very high porosity hair (for the uninitiated--high porosity hair has a more open cuticle, which allows water to escape easily. In this video, she tries a wash and go on her (relatively) newly short natural hair using Jherri Curl Juice. Many black women have reported positive results using Jherri Curl Juice on their natural or relaxed (not Jherri-curled) hair, as the juice is high in glycerin and therefore highly moisturizing.

Again, for the uninitiated, a Jherri curl is a process similar to a chemical relaxer. However, after the hair has been chemically straightened, the hair is wrapped around rods and doused with an alkaline solution that seals the artificial curl into the hair.
