what is going on guys this is crowsin and welcome back to Baldur's Gate 3. this is my tank build featuring a barbarian and fighter and I've been done with this build for several weeks I've just been playing Starfield instead so never had a chance to get this one out but I feel like most character Builders would assume that high Armor class equals tank and that really isn't a tank all that's going to do is just make you less likely to be targeted and my definition of a tank is having enemies Target you and taking most of the damage for your team and this build accomplishes that so even though there's no aggro in this game by having lower Armor class by giving enemies the advantage and having proper positioning you're going to be able to tank really well in this game so yeah let's get into making a proper tank so for our ability points we're gonna start out with 16 strength and 16 Constitution I also brought up dexterity to 14 and then Charisma up to 12 just to give me one extra Charisma check and then for skill proficiencies we're going to go with the ones granted from our class so Athletics and intimidation and then for our class we're going to start out with a barbarian and we're going to level Barbarian for eight straight levels your first big upgrade for barbarian comes at level three this is where we're gonna go with the wild heart subclass and we're gonna go with the bear heart bear heart is going to make us into basically an invincible tank and I also recommend you guys to put on some bear piercings for the look at level 4 we get our first feat and with this feat we want to go straight into Sentinel Sentinel gives you three really good features the first one is you gain advantage on opportunity attacks the second one which is probably the most important is that you can snare enemies in place anytime they try to move away from you so there's a lot of times where you know when you're in melee range of an Archer they want to move away from you and you can snare them right into place and then also sometimes enemies just want to be stupid they want to go for your ally when you have them in melee range and you could just snare them right into place and they can't get any closer to your Ally and then the third feature is Vengeance which anytime they attack your Ally and you are within melee range of the enemy and your ally you can use an opportunity attack to attack the enemy for attacking your ally so basically it's a no-win situation for the enemy at level six we get our animal aspect and this is where you want to go with aspect of the Beast stallion what this will do is every time you dash you're going to have temporary HP and you know the higher you are ranked into a barbarian the more HP you're going to have so by the time you're level 12 you're going to have 16 additional HP and the cool thing about stallion is that you don't have to use this in combat so you could always use this right outside of a fight Dash in order to gain 16 bonus points and you can basically use this as many times as you want to so you could use it within a fight after it's already off of your character you could use it after the fight is over there's it's just basically has an unlimited use and it's a really good ability to have with a barbarian tank at level 8 we get our second feet and what I like to do here is I go for great weapon Master because we're Barbarian great weapon Master is just too good to pass up we're going to have the advantage on every turn so the minus five to the attack roll penalty really isn't going to hurt us as bad and yeah too good to pass this up even if we're a tank we gotta have great weapon master now that we're at level nine this is where we are going to want to multi-class into a fighter and I tried so many different combinations here like I tried Barbarian Paladin Barbarian cleric Barbarian warlock I tried all different kinds of things and fighter to me just seemed to be the best so um for the fighting style you don't want to go for defense because we're not going to be wearing armor so we're never gonna get that anyway just go for great weapon fighting just going to help you out on your two-handed melee damage now that we are level 11 which will be fighter level 3 we can select a subclass which we're going to go for Battle Master here which will give us three Maneuvers to help better our tanking so what I like to do here I go for goading attack which attempts to go the target into attacking you and if they try to attack any other creature they're just going to receive disadvantage I also go for menacing attack which possibly frightens the target so they can't move so they can't get any closer to your allies and then for the third one I go for rally which will allow you to use a bonus action to restore temporary hit points so it's really not going to be too useful for you unless an ally goes down so if an ally goes down it's your turn you have a bonus action to spin you can use rally to help pick them up so I think that one is pretty cool but it's not really totally necessary so you have different options if you want to go for something instead of rally so you could go for disarming attack you could also go for pushing attack and the third one that I could recommend is trip attack and finally we get to level 12 which will be fighter level four and we can select our third feat what I do for this is I just go for something very simple I go for Ability improvements and I just put two points into strength in order to get more damage next up is our gear and I tried to go for a couple of things here the first thing that you guys need to know is we're not going to be wearing any armor with this build so we're going to be playing unarmored and I try to gear everything up to the point where attackers can't land Critical Hits anytime enemies attack me they get damage taken to them so whether that's with the flush melt or cloak or bone Spike Garb and then also I tried to have somewhat of an HP regen type of build going on here too so we go with sword of chaos every time we hit we gain HP and then also ring of regeneration every turn we gain HP and then finally I went for some really overpowered items that you get in act 3 which are gauntlets of Hill giant strength and Amulet of Greater Health both of these give you 23 strengths with the gauntlets and 23 Constitution with the amulet so so when you combine all of these things I mean you just have so much going on with this build and what I would recommend you guys to do is if you do plan on getting the gauntlets and the amulet you could respect your character at level 12 and you could lower your strength all the way down to eight lower your Constitution down to eight and start leveling up the other stats here because you will not need any more strength or Constitution higher than eight when you are wearing the gauntlets or the amulet so um yeah when you combine all of those things I mean it gives you another option to have an additional feat so what you can do at level 12 is go for the tough feet and have even more HP to where you're going to cap out with 181 HP plus 16 from the stallion perk from the Barbarian which is just crazy so that's kind of how you want to gear your character so for the last portion of this build I just want to showcase a basic fight just so you get a better understanding of how to be a tank so every fight is going to be different some fights you're going to want to tank the boss other fights there might be a mini boss this fight is a perfect example of just trying to tank as many ads as you can so there's seven enemies here so we want to try to get as many of those enemies as we can to Target us and a good spot to go here would be like right here in the center this way we could lock up all three of these enemies so the first thing I would do in Rage and then we want to go straight for the center but before we do that we might as well Target one of them with Reckless attack and now we want to go basically right in the middle and we could even get a cleave off on both of these enemies here and that is how I would start turn one so as you see this enemy is trying to run away from me and this is where Sentinel comes into play because we could use an opportunity attack and basically keep this Archer locked onto US so now we're in turn two and I still have all three of these enemies locked up all three of them targeted me and they all took a lot of damage for doing so so at this point we could clean up here uh finish off these three enemies and then go for some of these enemies that got away and got to some of our allies that's just the name of the game it's going to happen uh the main thing is just trying to lock up as many enemies as you can with this build so should be able to clean up here pretty easily now I'll probably go for a reckless attack and maybe go for this Archer as you see if I go for this Archer I will get hit from behind but that's always not a bad thing with the tank so um this person is going to take damage for hitting me and I'm probably not going to take any damage anyway so let's try to go for this Archer and what do you know they missed anyway so yeah let's uh let's do that so I'll trade that any day two damage for what seven so let's go over here let's take that Archer out now we get a bonus attack as well and this dude took a little bit more damage so I should be able to take him out with this and now we got this Last Enemy oh I really don't want to waste a bonus action on this enemy but I don't really have a choice right so might as well just do that we could take great weapon Master off since this enemy has low HP that way we ensure that we don't miss and now we could start to backtrack a little bit so we could go right here this way if we get close to this enemy he has no chance of running away and targeting one of our allies uh same thing here uh so what I'm gonna do I'm gonna go for probably oh this is a decision making time here I'm gonna go for this Archer so I'm just gonna try to get as close as I can to them so that way he's basically stuck here and yeah you guessed it this Archer tried to run away so we can just lock him with Sentinel and use an opportunity attack here and he's basically forced to Target us so I hope this tank build helps you become a really good tank in Baldur's Gate 3 and yeah tanking is fun and it's also pretty strategic because you really have to find a way to get the enemies to Target you and you know keep them away from your allies and you know this build accomplishes a lot of that you have a lot of resources here in order to get the enemies to Target you and you know a lot of that is just by being a barbarian not wearing any armor so your armor class is going to be lowered by default you're not going to have like a ridiculously high Armor class where they're just going to straight up ignore you and yeah giving them the advantage with Reckless attack just makes them more inclined to Target you and you know having Sentinel all of these things you know the Maneuvers they all work together and in Tandem and they create a really good tank field so hope you guys enjoyed this one thank you for watching till the end and if you have any more bills that you want to see for Baldur's Gate 3 let me know in the comments and I will see you in the next one
