[Music] what's going on everybody morm here this time bringing you another build for balers Gate 3 likely to be my third to last one actually but as I've been playing the game for a large review after 100% I've been making builds of the more interesting stuff I've been doing along the way and as I've recently been playing through the game as carac I thought I would share the Barbarian Build I've been using because while barbarians by themselves are a pretty fun class with a strong fantasy about them the issue I have with them mechanically is that after the first few levels they get a little bit boring as they are very very front-loaded however thanks to some things that balers Gate 3 does we can make a few changes to multiclass them a little bit with fighter and Rogue but my main goal with this build was to retain The Barbarians relative Simplicity in terms of playing it while making those later levels more interesting via some mechanics and synergies between other things going on but from a gameplay perspective much of what we're doing is going to be simply moving and attacking things with our weapon and that doesn't really change much start to finish the only thing that really changes is the passives and stacking Buffs that we have to various things with that in mind let's talk a little bit about the multiclassing so primarily we are going to be a barbarian as this is a Barbarian Build so our first five levels will wind up being Barbarian they have a very strong early game there's really not much of a point in deviating from that but after level five is where they get substantially less interesting so that's pretty much where we're going to start multiclassing and from levels 6 to 8 we are going to pick up levels in Rogue this does a few things for us both in terms of roleplay and mechanics because right at level one there we can actually pick up expertise and things like intimidation which makes our Barbarian roles in dialogue that much more interesting and Incredibly unlikely to fail but at level three of Rogue we're then going to pick up the thief subass for their extra bonus action to synergize with one of the subclasses from Barbarian to get an extra attack out of it and while we won't be making use of the Rogue sneak attack directly as we won't be using a finesse weapon you can still make ranged sneak attacks but admittedly it won't come up much from there though levels 9 through 12 is where we pick up our fighter levels and while action surge is definitely nice it's not the primary reason we're taking it believe it or not as what we really want here is the level one fighting style great weapon fighting of course the level three subass I like to actually pick up Champion for this for the extra crit range and then one final level in fighter simply for the extra ASI Improvement or feat in this case to go along with our extra health so that's kind of the gist of how this is going to work levelwise but let's talk about character creation before we talk about the level UPS individually so character creation I had carlac in mind but you certainly don't need to play her for this and in many ways she's actually not ideal because while I do like xerial teelings which she is if I were making a custom character with this build in mind it wouldn't be my first choice personally I would go half work for the extra weapon damage on critical hits which we're going to be doing quite a bit of which means if you're just talking Raw Pure damage is what you want then you want a half or for this that said with the way races are done in balers Gate 3 there's not really a wrong choice either it's really just about picking and choosing what you want for instance we're going to have a lot of movement speed so adding even more to it with something like a Wood Elf could potentially be interesting as well and something like the gith Yankees Misty Step at level five could be useful for closing a distance as another option but again pure damage wise you would pick half or now right at character creation if you're playing carlac all you'll really do is modify her ability scores if you want and then get on with the game so in terms of ability scores that I like to start this with you're pretty much looking at it on screen here 17 in strength 15 in Constitution a little bit of Charisma and dexterity to go along with everything else we're doing with low intelligence and wisdom now truth be told this isn't anide deal setup but I do feel like it's the best roleplay option for carlac in particular so I kind of kept that in mind here but if you're talking like just the best of what you'd want you'd probably drop strength and Constitution down to 16 and 14 respectively and then bump up intelligence and wisdom so you're not taking penalties on them but again I felt this reflected carlac personality more so however with an item we can get late in act three we can Respec our character after this to just completely dump strength as the item we'll get can bring it up to 23 anyway which can also be done for Constitution which are both of the stats you want for a barbarian at which point you could reroll those points into your other four ability scores at that point just to have outrageous stats you wouldn't really need it and it's not necessary to do that but I will be mentioning it throughout the review if you want because in terms of just raw power it's really the way to go but obviously we won't be playing most of the game that way so I'm not going to focus on it a ton moving on from there to our level UPS however ever it's important to remember that a lot of level ups are merely going to give us passive bonuses that add on to our basic attack everything we see in Rage mode approach to combat so with that in mind a lot of these levels are not super interesting but to walk you through the important stuff right at level two as a barbarian we're going to pick up Reckless attack this gives us advantage on our attack roles but enemies have advantage against us on their turn but thanks to rage giving us resistances and our naturally High Health that's not necessarily a huge deal though interestingly enough Reckless attack can be triggered as a reaction in balers Gate 3 so you don't need to activate it before you try to hit something you can do it reactively if you want which means you don't necessarily need to activate that disadvantage on yourself via enemies unless you really need it to push through a hit now at level three we pick our Barbarian subass we are going to pick up Berserker this changes our rage into frenzy and frenzy lets us make a extra weapon weapon attack or an extra throw with our bonus action however it's important to remember that when you activate rage in combat that also costs a bonus action so you can't necessarily do that in the same turn but Berserkers can make extra attacks with their bonus action while they are raging and interestingly enough their enraged throw that they get during this will deal extra damage more so than normal which isn't super necessary to make this work but it is a cool thing to keep in mind we'll double back to this in a minute though we are talking about our Rogue levels level four is a bit less interesting when we first reach it as opposed to if you choose to Respec later because when we first pick up our level four ability score Improvement we're likely going to be picking up exactly that an ability score Improvement and you can either even out strength and Constitution here or if you picked up the hag hair ability score Quest reward you could have added that onto strength and then just take your strength to 20 at level four that's probably your best option here when you first hit that that level now if you're respecing later into the game then you're doing so because you have the items that already max out our strength at 23 which means we don't need to increase anything for our ability score Improvement which means we can grab a feat instead and in that case I would recommend mobile this gives us extra movement speed lets us ignore opportunity attacks in certain situations and difficult terrain won't slow us down if we Dash but more importantly that movement speed is going to stack with our level five barbarian ability fast movement which gives us an extra 10 ft while we're not wearing heavy armor which we won't be and together that can give you 20 extra movement speed but of course the big thing at level five is extra attack at this point we'll be able to make two melee attacks with our one action at level five now at level six is when we're going to start taking our Rogue levels for your expertise Choice which you'll get right at level one again I like to pick up intimidation and then actually slight of hand mostly because I wasn't running aaran on this particular playthrough so with her slightly higher decks and a bit of expertise from slide of hand she actually had really good lock picking just from this but it is not necessary to do that at all you can basically pick expertise and whatever thing you want and then level two of Rogue just gives you your cunning actions that is to say being able to hide or Dash with your bonus action instead we're not going to use those a ton but level three Rogue we're going to pick up the thief subass this is specifically because it gives us an extra bonus action it also halfs the damage we take from falling but that doesn't come up much the bonus action does however because as you may recall activating rage costs a bonus action which means we can't use our bonus action to attack normally on the first turn we rage but with this we can and then on subsequent rounds we can make two extra attacks with our bonus action and from there we take the rest of our levels in Fighter for starters at level one we pick up great weapon fighting which just makes us better with great weapons which is what we're going to be using and then level two of course gives us action surge which is a great ability for any build as getting to use an extra action is great but because we're getting some of our attacks from our bonus actions in particular do keep in mind this will only double your base two attacks per action to four but still certainly not a bad thing then at level three fighter we're going to pick up Champion for the improved critical hit we're going to stack this with an item later to give us an 18 to 20 critical hit range on an attack roll combined with barbarians easily granted advantage on attack r as well we have a pretty good shot at a critical hit in most situations on top of the many ways in the game you can guarantee Critical Hits via ithd Powers which we'll get to in a moment and then at level four of fighter basically level 12 we pick up another feat now whether you're respecing or not this is pretty much always going to be a feat as we don't really need anything ability score-wise from this but you have a few different options now as much as people like great weapon master I wouldn't recommend that one here as it gives you an extra attack with your bonus action which we obviously don't need for a build like this because we can already do that but In fairness some people might want the extra damage at the opportunity cost so to speak of a penalty to your attack roles and for a barbarian who has a really good chance to hit anyways that might not be such a big deal to you personally though I like to pick up either Mage Slayer or Savage attacker Mage Slayer is great because it makes us tankier against spells and very likely to break concentration of spell casters that we hit and then Savage attacker will give you extra damage on a melee attack without taking a penalty to hit but the damage increase isn't quite as much as great weapon Master would be so it's all a bit of a tradeoff but any of those would really work for you kind of just down to preference at that point but with our level UPS out of the way let's talk gear and then ithd Powers so when it comes to gear there is a lot of items that you can find in the game that will really add a lot to this build now I prefer to run this with medium armor you can run a barbarian unarmored thanks to their unarmed armored defense trait that adds their constitution modifier to their AC but usually medium armor is still going to get you more AC than that and I don't think the Barbarian specific items that you can find that are clothing and thus unarmored to be particularly worth the tradeoff but regardless there is some really cool stuff I want to go over for starters in act three we can pick up serox horned helmet it enhances our dark vision as a tling but more importantly it reduces our critical hit range by one this is going to stack with our champion fighter subass to bring it down to 18 and the fact that we picked that up at level 11 makes adding this helmet to it very late in the game a nice bonus towards the end before this however as this comes very late it's pretty much just the best helmet you can find for our Cape we of course have the cloak of protection from a vendor in act two at the last Light in and then for our main piece of armor elect the adamantine scale armor from the Grim Forge area of act one which means we can get it pretty early in the game and then that's so good you can use it basically for the rest of the game as it making you immune to Critical Hits is incredibly useful for our gloves eventually we want the gauntlets of Hill giant strength these are going to set our strength to 23 and allow us to Respec to both change our ability scores and dumb strength alongside picking up Feats instead of ability score improvements from our level UPS however these come incredibly late in the game there's not much game left by the time you get these but they are kind of what you want however in the meantime you basically just want a pair of gloves that's going to enhance your damage which there are a few of the easiest ones to get are the gloves of the growling Underdog available in act one that grants you advantage while surrounded by two or more foes but seeing as we can activate something like Reckless attack to get Advantage anyway that's not necessarily super useful so you might want something like the sword master gloves from Act 2 also from a vendor that can grant you a plus one to your melee attack roles if your hit wasn't high enough so there's a few decent options in the early for gloves so you're not completely out of luck till the end game by any means but the end goal is definitely the gauntlets of Hill giant strength now boots we can also get in the underd dark area of Act One near Grim Forge with the disintegrating night Walkers pretty much the best boots in the game as they grant us a cast of Misty step on top of immunity to in webbed and Tangled and snared slipping on Grease or ice Etc just an incredible pair of boots if you're in melee it's pretty much the best thing now for our Amulet the Amulet of Greater Health available in the same place you pick up the gloves is also incredible as it sets our constitution score to 23 which for this build is going to be an increase of about 25 Health towards the endgame which will take you from around 120ish to around 15 but realistically you don't need to use this as our constitution is likely to be fairly high without it and the health isn't going to make a gigantic difference so if you'd like to use something else by all means feel free and then for Rings there's one I would recommend for this and that is Killer's sweetheart available from Char's trials in Act 2 when we kill a creature our next attack can be a critical hit if we choose to activate it once per long rest and we're going to be killing a lot of things in melee so we can get quite a bit of use out of that now in terms of weapons we're going to be using great weapons and we have a few different options there early game there's a few really good great swords that I would recommend using but unfortunately a lot of the best great swords in the game really only become the best if you happen to be a gith Yankee so late game it can be useful to switch over to a couple of mes that is to say two-handed hammers such as Corpse Grinder from the beginning of act three which you can pick off an enemy in a fight and then later you can find a hammer called faux breaker which will actually ignore bludgeoning damage resistance on enemies which can be found in the Sorceress sundry shop in the Vault of forbidden books but in terms of the early swords the ever burn blade that you can get in the tutorial off of the cambian there will get you through most of act one and then toward WS the end of act one you might consider switching over to a crafted great sword from a quest in the blighted village that involves going to the underdog finding some bark bringing it back to the forge to make a great sword with or two other types of weapons technically but the great sword works for us here and that weapon can actually silence enemies you hit and if you combine it with an extra damage Source it will simply be quite a bit better than the ever burn blade and that'll get you through to pretty much the end game before you can pick up those better malls later on or if you're playing this as a gith Yan you can just use the gith Yan swords such as the Silver sword of the astral plane from lel's Quest now before we talk about combat which is honestly pretty simple let's talk about ilth powers to make this build really Pop I decided to make full use of call the weak which is a really good ithd power but it only at its best if you are taking all of your ithd powers on one person because what it does is when we bring a creature down to fewer hit points than our number of powers it dies and nearby creatures take damage so at a maximum this is 25 if we bring a creature below 25 hit points it just flat out dies so in order to make the most use of that we need to be giving all of the ithd powers to our Barbarian here this isn't strictly necessary to make this build work but it does make it a lot more fun now in terms of those powers that are genuinely useful to us we want things like favorable beginnings and luck of the far Realms which gives us better attack roles and ability checks for favorable beginnings and some of the other powers are General Al useful but are more situational than anything so you don't necessarily need to even use any of them as the main goal here is to just maximize our chances to delete things with Call of the week again not something you have to do but it is really fun now with that said let's finally talk about combat truth be told combat wise there's not a ton to say really our goal in combat from start to finish is run up and smack things in melee after activating rage as rage is what is going to allow us to attack with our bonus actions as that comes from our Barbarian subass and doesn't work otherwise and with five levels in barbaran you're going to have three rage charges for a day which personally I found more than enough because in this game you're resting all the time which resets them so you're pretty much good to go but probably the nicest thing about this build is the Simplicity of playing it as really again all you do is activate rage attack really the only Nuance to combat with a build like this is whether or not you need to throw or attack at range to maintain your rage as if you don't make an attack or take damage your rage will fall off so in order to keep it up you have to keep attacking and sometimes even with our increased movement range that we'll have something might be Out Of Reach and thus not able to be attacked and there are ways to get around that such as our enraged throw it can be worthwhile to hold on to a bunch of trident and Spears especially the ones that return to you after being thrown of which there are a couple throughout the game to help you mitigate this as our Berserker gets the enraged throw from our Rage which actually deals additional damage on top of the weapon damage from what we are throwing and there are moments where that can be really helpful and then there are other moments where throwing a bomb or some other AOE item might be more useful bombs in particular are easily thrown so they're a great example of this as probably the only real downside to this build I would say is that we don't really have a lot of AOE capability outside of the things we can throw so that's something to keep in mind for sure now in terms of damage dealt that's where things get quite a bit variable because whether or not we crit on any individual melee attack is going to be a pretty big deci there and because of that our damage on any given round can be anywhere from like 80 to 160 there's a lot of variance in there which is one of the reasons I found the call the week thing really really good because at that point I don't necessarily need to do enough damage to kill you I just need enough damage to bring you to a really low threshold and in combination with the other characters in our party that becomes much much easier to do because later in the game any attack that brings them under like 20 health is going to just outright kill them but overall I would say I enjoyed playing this build because it is simple and easy to play there's really not much you got to do besides activate rage and then attack everything you see with all our passive benefits doing all of the work for you and combined with a lot of the fun roleplay options that come with simply being a Barbarian as they get a lot of really fun dialogue Etc I found it a very enjoyable way to play the game and hopefully you will as well so if you enjoyed the video don't forget to like comment subscribe all that YouTube jazz let me know what you think of it down below of course though regardless of any of that truly just thank you so much for watching I really do appreciate it may you wander in wisdom and have an amazing [Music] day
