video games have their heroes but they also have their wimps hi folks it's falcon and today on game ranks the top 10 cowards in video games starting off at number 10 it's patches from demon souls and dark souls patches is a cowardly thief that appears in a lot of from software games if you see him he's probably gonna try to stab you in the back he's a dude that tends to use the most safe fighting style he hides behind a great shield and tries to poke you with a spear he doesn't instigate but he will do something like try to push you off a ledge and it'll frustrate you very badly and you'll just want to kill him if you survive one of his traps and you talk to him again he pathetically begs for your forgiveness and it's like dude really you think we're gonna be cool now no things don't go back to before the trap patches come on let's be friends what do you say no need to drag each other down at number nine is the booze from the super mario brothers cam now you know exactly who i'm talking about cute little ghosties really just actually a great character design for a ghost they hide and they sit still when you look at them but when you're not looking at them they proceed and attack now this is what we at game ranks call classic coward tactics but it's not just that they're cowards they're also impervious to damage while they're in hiding mode so they're also kind of annoying and difficult to take care of and they've appeared in pretty much every mario game since three including pretty much every mario kart where they exist as both an item and an obstacle i mean you shouldn't be shocked to find that they're in the luigi's mansion series it's a ghost story they're actually the main antagonists there and act exactly in the opposite way attacking when you see them and hiding when you don't luigi's mansion is pretty much the only place they have a backbone everywhere else huge coward at number eight is cactars from final fantasy or metal slimes from dragon quest these guys are i mean they're basically the same thing right they look different obviously but they don't behave particularly different they're little guys who are almost impossible to hit and if you manage to kill them you get an absolute ton of experience when you think about it these enemies are like super cowardly enemies like these and we're not limiting it to cactus and metal slimes here they often have pretty high damage attacks and amazing evasion so they could take your party out if they wanted to at least in a lot of games a lot of different situations not saying that a cacti is gonna kill you but rather than even find out they pretty much always just turn around and run away they don't even engage after you know one or two turns and because of this it's i mean a pretty darn annoying enemy type that appears in a ton of rpgs at number seven is mikko lash the host of the nightmare from bloodborne this guy is one of those weird bosses from likes to put you in that doesn't fight you in a normal way at all in fact kinda really just seems to exist to annoy you in some way like specifically mikalash doesn't fight you he runs away from you and you have to chase him through this misty library and there's enemies just infinitely spawning around everywhere gotta deal with them anyway once you actually do catch him and corner him he will fight bad and guess what this guy who's running from you also has an attack that can kill you in one hit that's always really fun he's like bloodborne player i didn't want to use this i didn't want to do it i i didn't but i will that being said if you can manage to avoid that it he's not hard to kill and number six is multiplayer campers in pretty much any game you can think of that doesn't have camping explicitly as part of its design i mean there are games that are like that like what i'm talking about is people who are gonna sit in one house for the entire war zone match or find a hiding spot and snipe people those kind of people i don't mean holds angles frankly that's not camping that's regular sop thank you very much like do what you do to win sure but they're just people who want to avoid dying at all costs and usually it doesn't end up working out for them they don't bother getting good at the game they just sit in a single place and hope they get a kill like the difference is games like valorent or counter-strike is kind of hard to have campers the maps aren't particularly big they are designed to have people set up shop but like if you're playing fortnite and you're just like camping it's weird because that's a big map that people are moving around a lot in just get better at the game alright number five is captain quark from the ratchet and clank series he's basically the mr satan of the ratchet games he's the authority figure that everyone at least at first thinks he's a brave hero but is actually a sniveling coward like big man on campus i'll bark no bite so when a hero is needed when the time comes that somebody needs to stand up and fight for what's right he's usually wanted to take the credit away from the actual heroes or even in the case of the second rationing clan game be the main villain who causes all the problems in the game just because he's inept and dumb he is a total chump but he has gone from villainous coward to vaguely kind of heroic coward over the course of the series so that's not nothing you get some points it takes some bravery to go from one side to the other you know at number four is luigi from the mario games but particularly luigi's mansion luigi's a coward it's one of his defining character traits in pretty much any game he appears in i mean we see it in any of the rpgs the sports spin-offs but in particular in luigi's mansion i mean our man has a button specifically for calling for help from mario he spends pretty much the entire series shaking or jumping at the thought of a ghost and like this is the hero of this game man you'd think after a while after seeing enough ghosts they'd be a little desensitized to it but no no like he is the player character though so in order to beat the game he does eventually fight the ghost and save the day but again he doesn't get any less scared i don't know maybe i wouldn't either if all of that stuff was actually happening but we have no way of knowing that we can however judge luigi sternly harshly as a coward for his actions in luigi's mansion and its ensuing series at number three is prince edward also known as the spoonie bard from final fantasy 4 or 2 before they renumbered them in the usa he's basically useless in battle when you first get him like when i say he's useless i mean like he has hide as a command where he literally hides he's like battling not for me man i'm the spoony board so he hides and it protects him from damage not only is he you know scared of fighting he's also not very strong like you get a couple of children in your party purim and palum who are in fact stronger than him guys i mean just a big wuss it's a whiny baby the entire time he's in your party and now number two is huey emrick from metal gear solid five this guy is one of the most despicable characters in the entire franchise he sells out big boss to xof in ground zeroes which led to an attack that left snake in a coma at the beginning of metal gear solid 5. he murdered dr strangelove his lover and colleague by stealing her in the ai pod they worked on later he contacted diamond dogs in order to defect from the xof who were holding him in a secret compound but he didn't do it because of what they were doing was wrong or anything he just knew that his usefulness was running out later when snake finds out about the murder of their former ally dr strangelove along with his attempt to sell a deadly virus to their enemy cipher that led to dozens of people in their base getting infected and having to be killed the diamond dogs called for him to be executed snake for whatever reason was a merciful fellow he ordered emmerich's exile instead they basically just throw him on a raft and let him fend for himself but the whole time he blames literally every other person but himself for everything he's just like one of these like incredibly hateable and pathetic characters and finally at number one eric sparrow from tony hawk's underground he is your basic sports story traitorous rival but what makes him unique is just how hateable he is he's supposed to be your best friend at first but from pretty much the start of the game you can tell he's a jealous douchebag basically like he hates your creative character success which is funny and he's just pretty much trying to sabotage you from the get-go he sets the car of local drug dealers on fire which forces you to flee at just around the time you're making an escape promo video he steals the tape of your big stunt in hawaii he strands you in a rush in jail he's just an annoying little wiener that there's a secret ending where you get to punch him it's satisfying to say the very least couple of bonus characters for you nick ramos from dead rising three like guy was a total wuss compared to the other protagonists from dead rising games like he's still a killing machine but in cut scenes he's just afraid and when you're out fighting zombies usually shouting in terror rather than spouting one-liners and finally the grunts from the halo series they're weak they're pathetic and they should run away and wave their arms in the air i mean these guys are just
