welcome to enshrouded everyone if you are struggling with building your first home and need some building tips and ideas for getting started you've come to the right place greetings fellow Flame born this is Erie night of the suap posi and enshrouded is finally here and I am very excited about the building system naturally I decided to dive right into it and built my first home out of nothing more than what you can gather close by to the starter area I'm going to show you all the 20 plus building tips you need to get yourself started let's begin the most visible building materials around our woodlock gathered from trees and stone pretty much everywhere either digging right into the ground with a pickaxe or along the mountain side however if you put in a little extra effort you can get in my humble opinion some more interesting looking building materials right away our first location is pretty much straight through long keep from the starter home area all the way to the mountain side you'll easily spot a different color Rock along the rock base this is Flint if you build yourself a pickaxe you can mine it endlessly for all the Flint you will ever need within the same area you can also find melium in the shrouded area it is this mushroomy looking Rock right here last but not least if you venture down the cliff near the edge of the starting area make your way into the Shroud and cut down trees here to get some shroud wood along with regular wood and stone you'll have all the starting materials you will need to craft all the blocks you will require another little tip to speed up the mining process to chug water which is easily obtained from the well inside longy drinking water increases your maximum stamina and stamina regen allowing you to mine f faster and as you see beehives Harvest those for honey which provide an even larger stamina regeneration bonus though it only lasts 3 Minutes last tip for speeding up mining is to rush to the blacksmith and once in your starter area craft some scrap tools they'll chew through wood and stone faster to get all the materials you need with better equipment once you feel you've gathered enough materials time to craft your blocks first I'll make a bunch of rough wood blocks out of VR wood logs for any of these type of blocks you can stack up to 5,000 block blocks in a single inventory slot one of the major reasons for the Flint is it allows you to craft the stone shingle roof block which in my opinion looks infinitely better than the plant fiber roof the Shroud wood block is made entirely from shroud wood though it uses 10 per 100 count then we've got the mycelium overgrown block which requires regular Stone and of course the mycelium itself naturally you can use whatever materials you think look best so feel free to swap out any of my choices along the way but be aware of what block you can make from the GetGo our first little trick we're going to do is to raise our alter higher above the ground place down any foundation shape at the height you want your alter delete the current alter and craft another one then place the newly crafted alter up to the height of the foundation you can remove the foundation if you don't like the placement after that place all the foundation pieces all the way around the altar since I hate perfectly square or rectangular structures out front we're going to place two 4 M Foundation pieces to form our porch on the side here I'm going going to Center another 4 meter Foundation shape up till now you may have noticed the numbers on screen when you place a shape the left number before the slash is how many blocks you have in your inventory and to the right is the number it takes to place it in Ed placing a shape only uses the required materials thus if you overlap the blueprint over an existing structure the total amount of blocks to place decreases from 256 in this case we move our blueprint around the number will be 256 if we are placing the full shape and any part that overlaps will decrease the number of blocks required thus using large shapes will allow you to fill up large regions and gaps in between missing regions quite quickly another useful way to use this is it can tell you if you are aligned or not here I want to place less than a full foundation on either side to make sure it is aligned we can highlight the region that isn't filled and see what amount of material would be required to fill it here that is 160 blocks if it is perfectly aligned it would be 160 on the the other side however it is only 128 thus we need to place in another row using 32 additional blocks to bring the 160 down to 128 next we're going to place some stairs using the Shroud wood block Control Plus Mouse scroll allows you to change materials for a given shape and by holding on the ALT key we can bring up more shapes and I'm going to select the 1 M Cube whenever you want to use fine control whether to add fine details or remove specific boxels this is the perfect shape for that here I'm going to do both right click to remove a single block along the edges of the staircase and replace those shapes but using a different material the mycelium overgrown block which will provide a nice contrast with the dark shroud wood it should be noted that the salt face of the blueprint is the part of the structure that will be removed when right clicking and when adding the shape will be placed in that position of the solid blue face again using our 1 m shape I'm going to create some railings for our porch two blocks high with the mycelium and using the Shroud wood to connect them because I like to mix different textures and have non-f flat Contours I'm I'm going to put columns in all of our corners of our little College I'll do this by removing four blocks in each corner all the way down to the ground and replace them with my Calum after that is finished I'll place a 4 M column on top of each replaced Corner this will provide a nice aesthetic for our build and make the walls really pop out speaking of walls time to add those I'll use the window frames in the front as I want the windows on either side of the porch and a door frame in the center you can place a solid wall and cut them out later which we'll do on the other walls as I'm not sure where I'll ultimately want the window as I've stated before I really hate flat walls a really good way to create some definition in your walls is to add some additional borders around windows and doors here'll use the one meter shape again to make a nice border around our features to make them stand out more feel free to use whatever designs you like as for this particular build I'm going to make it pretty simple and clean I'm going to contrast the Flintstone with the dark shroud wood and pattern the front of our dwelling for our stairs up to the second level I'll do a similar trick and add some mycelium on the sides for a bit of decoration again rck can add some embellishment in nice contrast I will implement it as it really adds to the visual of our build and for the second floor itself you need to use the ceiling shape to make floors time for the roof of our side room to give a nice visual distinction I want to make the roof over this side room lower than the main roof to add more Contours so it ripped out the floor here and we'll instead use the 2 m roof side when connected just right the Apex of your roof will form a visually distinctive pattern across it jumping ahead a bit this is a misaligned roof and we can see the shingles running across the top are not present so make sure to look out for the visual proof that your roof pieces are indeed connected to make your roofs look more visually appealing I highly recommend a bit of an overhang on both sides simply overlap the roofing shape a bit over to extend the roof down and I'll also extend it out from the roof facing wall to add further definition when making everything flat it just looks boring extend things pop them out protrude them that will make your own builds look immediately better again I'll just overlap the shapes over the existing structure and place and to finish off our roof I'll use use the stepped wall to fill in the Triangular Gap using the Flintstone for our main roof we could immediately make an a style frame directly attached to the floor but I want a bit of extra height so I'll use a half wall which the game calls wall under the 2 m shape and place those all around aligning the roof can be tricky quite tricky it is actually the most difficult part of the building system and enshrouded I feel as I said look out for the visually distinctive connection between both sides of the roof this is not connected and this is the only way to really get the trick down is to feel it out for yourselves by pressing X you can toggle the snap feature on and off which is visually indicated by the center dot snap off just a single dot Snap-on has a square around it I found for me initially placing it with Snap-On is a bit easier for aiming with no roof in place and snap off is easier for attaching additional pieces to existing roof that works for me but it may be completely opposite for others to create a dormer roof we'll use the inner roof corner Corners rotate such that they meet in the middle again you'll know if it is correct right if you see the distinctive shingle pattern on the top we'll extend all of our roof sections to fill in the gaps as we have previously done and on the outside I'll add some more overhangs as per my previous tip if it is too high to place temporarily put down another shape that you can climb up technically there is a scaffold you can build but you don't really need to bother with it as you can remove the temporary shape when done and get all of your materials back we've got some more holes to fill in on the sides of our roof and again we'll use the stepped wall pieces to fill in the angular holes and regular wall sections to fill in the rest of the gaps again remember you can overlap and not waste excess materials also feel free to leave in some window gaps the window frames will later build are two blocks wide and three blocks high so try to make your holes three high and at least two wide you can manually carve out the sections too which I mentioned earlier when I made my first story walls cut out four wide by three High using the one met shape if you want some wider Windows making the width of multiple of two will allow you the windows to fit neatly inside craft some wooden window frames and place in all the holes like so I've actually decided to tweak my front design a bit to make room for a double door I actually had a slight alignment issue so I'm using this opportunity to make a change so I'll make a larger hole in the doorway widen the stairs using all the previous tips we have used before and finally I'll add some additional detail around all the remaining Windows around the house and extend the overhang on the main roof I'll use temporarily play shapes again to reach high awkward places and with all of that said and done here is our final design it is quite spacious and pretty detailed the inside needs some decoration but it is quite spacious and will allow us to cram in everything we need to increase our comfort and resting bonus as well as a place to put all of our awesome loot I hope you all learned something valuable here and if you like this type of content please consider liking and subscribing to our Channel as it helps us out a ton we'll be
