hey everybody welcome back to the channel HTM here I was lucky enough to get an early access copy of Starfield and ever since I have been playing the game non-stop figuring out all the best skills the best weapons and equipment options and of course the best builds the great thing about Starfield is that you can literally play the game any way that you want but of course some star field builds are going to be better than others and some are just flat out insane in this video I'm going to Showcase my favorite builds and play Styles I've discovered during my Starfield playthrough to help give you an idea of what's possible and especially what's worth investing your time into this list will be a mix of pure combat builds with some role-playing builds thrown in because the truth is in Starfield you won't be playing at just one build your entire playthrough you'll be combining some of these play Styles together or switching them in and out based on what's needed for the mission at hand that being said this list will be a fantastic place to start showing you what's possible and most importantly what's actually effective when playing the game timestamps will be provided down below if you want to skip to a certain build or re-watch a section and links to my website for more detailed written guides for each build will also be added to the description finally the only spoilers contained in this video will be related to the last build on our list which is insanely powerful but is also deeply connected to the game's main storyline but to be fair the build was already spoiled in starfield's own marketing material and if you've been following the game closely this won't even be a surprise to you but if you've been purposely avoiding every single trailer you may want to stop the video before that final build and I'll make sure to put a big spoiler notice before we get there so sit back relax and let's get into the builds let's start with what I think is the best early game build for Star field and that's the Space Ranger the focus of this build will obviously be using the Boost pack not only for combat but also for basic traversal and exploration for our starting background on this build there are two good options I think both give you boost pack training right away from the start the Bounty Hunter option will be good if you want to focus more on ships but you can always pick up those skills later on so I actually recommend the soldier for this build which will give you the same boost pack training along with Ballistics for better gun damage and fitness which lets you sprint for longer once you're actually in the game you'll need to find a Boost pack as soon as possible and there's actually a variety of these that you can get pretty early on in the game but they are different so I do want you to understand how they work so far the main types of boost packs I've found are the basic boost pack the power boost pack and then there's also something called a balanced boost pack so for the basic packs these only give you a very short jump in the air which can be helpful in reaching some higher areas or crossing small gaps but the Boost you actually get from these is fairly weak now power boost packs do give you a much higher boost but they tend to be more vertical more straight up into the air so there's less Mobility there overall by far the best option I found is actually the balance boost pack this gives you a good mix of forward momentum but also hang time making it great for bunny hopping across planets that already have low gravity which is by far the best way to get between points of interest very quickly now all of this obviously is going to be improved by training that boost pack skill so you want to rank this up quickly and in my opinion eventually unlock all four ranks to really get the most use out of this very powerful item the main bonus you'll get right away is obviously the additional movement but also some extra combat Mobility which is going to come in handy for example you can lift off the ground with your Boost pack very quickly to avoid mines and grenades if you're out in the open you can also use a boost to close the distance between yourself and an enemy if you need to get closer if you're using something short range like for example a shotgun but beyond the basic boost pack training there's actually something called a boost assault training which is a second boost pack Focus skill line that gives you tons of direct combat benefits as well this includes catching enemies on fire knocking them down when you boost nearby as well as hovering and slowing down time while you're aiming down your gun sights while boosting with your pack and this is incredibly overpowered against most enemies in the game now obviously the potential downside for this build is going to be fighting indoors which you will do occasionally in Starfield whether you're inside of ship or maybe exploring a cave on a planet's surface somewhere that lack of Mobility usually does result in taking more damage than when you can fly around more freely so investing early in the medicine skill is also highly recommended for this build as you rank up medicine it's going to make your med packs and your trauma packs heal for more and also heal faster so that's going to become very important and I also recommend maxing out the ballistics tree as soon as possible as this covers the majority of the available weapon types in the game that you're going to be using and swapping out in between on this build making the majority of your weapons hit much harder that being said even if you don't go with the full combat focus on this build because it does require a lot of skill points I do recommend that every build maxes out the basic boost pack training for the extra mobility and Planet traversal It's Gonna Save you so much time in the long run plus Starfield is all about exploration and being able to boost freely around the map is one of the best ways you can do that if your preferred adventuring style includes knocking back a few space Beverages and punching your way through problems then the brawler build for Starfield is definitely for you relying on Close Quarters melee combat and a variety of combat stimulants this build can definitely be a challenge to set up but once you get it going can be extremely fun to play the get started the background I recommend for a brawler style build is the bouncer with an initial boost to the boxing skill security and fitness from there you're just going to start punching stuff like a lot the boxing skill tree is where you'll want to invest the majority of your points early on eventually doubling the power of your punches with a chance to knock down your enemies supplementing this with the wellness skill tree for some extra Health as well as the medicine skill for improved healing is also recommended because you will be absorbing a lot of damage on this build early on eventually though you'll get used to the play style which involves using cover as much as you can while you're enemies are firing off a hail of bullets then coming out from cover as they attempt to reload some basic melee combos are possible using the right Trigger or left Mouse click for punches combined with an uppercut that does more damage using the right stick on Xbox or V on a keyboard left Trigger or right click also performs a block and this is helpful because even if an enemy has a gun equipped they will frequently switch to melee attacks if you yourself are engaging in melee combat with them which is actually kind of nice once you have the basics down you'll want to Branch out into the martial arts skill this gives you increased critical chance as well as the ability to disarm an enemy's weapon Rejuvenation skill is also something I would recommend for this build as this will help regenerate Health outside and inside of combat to help with some of the additional damage you'll be taking with this melee focused approach and lastly don't forget about consumables on this one this build is probably the most item dependent that I played it was not necessarily a bad thing because you'll be picking up tons of these items as you explore the game just naturally but make sure to prioritize anything with damage reduction or damage resistances first there are also several items which increase your base melee damage too which can be extremely helpful especially later on in the game when enemies have more health and more armor also many of these items can be crafted so make sure to check out the crafting stations when you get a chance and beverages are good as well especially early in the game as you won't have much else to use just be aware that these lower your oxygen recovery stat which is basically like starfield's version of a stamina bar so depending on how much you drink you will have less ability to Sprint or throw punches next up on our list of Star field builds is going to be the Bounty Hunter now when we were looking at some of the starting backgrounds earlier you probably notice that Bounty Hunter was a possible background but what does that play style actually look like in the game well luckily there are plenty of missions that you can choose from to live out that bounty hunting lifestyle should you choose to do so and I actually do like the background Choice here as you will need a combination of Mobility Plus a lot of piloting skills is pretty ideal for this one so there are several ways you can actually get Bounties in Starfield the easiest is to use the mission board in cities like new Atlantis as you can see here there are several missions which are bounties and they're actually pretty easy to complete just set the mission active and then set course and you can fly straight to the planet where you need to go simply Bunny Hop to your destination where your Bounty is located now in order to reach these sometimes there will be ship combat involved so I do recommend getting to at least Rank 2 of piloting and Rank 2 of targeting Control Systems this will actually make things go much smoother when you need to destroy an enemy ship or two along the way you can also upgrade your ship at a shipyard if you decide to do so although you will need some more skills to do more than just the basics here so things like piloting Rank 3 and Starship design will be helpful but that's really just the beginning of being a bounty hunter in Starfield there are also more bounties you can collect throughout the game if you want to work for other companies and organizations for example gal Bank in new Atlantis has a whole set of missions where you can track down delinquent Bank customers and try to get the bank's money back how you decide to do that is up to you choose violent or not the bank will always look the other way as long as they get their credits and of course you as the Bounty Hunter will get your cut next up we have something I'm calling the engineer and in my mind engineers and Starfield are masters of all things technology giving you a variety of ways to complete objectives now one way that is surprisingly effective in Starfield is the robotic skill line which lets you control nearby security robots and turrets this is obviously going to be a big part of the engineer build and that's for a good reason nearly anywhere you go in this game and especially later on in some of the main story quests you'll have plenty of opportunities to use this skill on robot guards and especially on turrets which can be extremely annoying if you don't take care of them right away so again your main skill that you want to invest in is going to the the robotics you don't want to spend too many skill points you can probably stop on Rank 2 which lets you pacify a Target just long enough to make a difficult fight pretty easy now along with robotics the engineer build also does extremely well with laser weapons particularly the laser pistol early on and eventually laser rifles which are one of the most powerful weapons in this game so a few points into lasers is definitely recommended to help make these powerful weapons even more powerful electromagnetic or em weapons are also a possibility but these seemed much harder to find in my experience so for the most part I just stuck with lasers or even a good shotgun for close range combat by the way something you should probably have in Your Arsenal just in case your robots get out of hand is a disassembler shotgun I found plenty of these during my playthrough and the nice thing is that they do huge bonus damage against robots specifically so these will be very handy to keep with you at all times obviously you can apply this idea of an engineer build to lots of other things in the game whether it comes to outposts obviously engineering your ship is a big part of Starfield but I really just stuck to combat for the most part and one final tip here if you're into explosives you'll definitely want to invest a few points into the demolition skill rank one at least this makes your throwing grenades show a trajectory Arc which is very helpful for bouncing those grenades around corners in tight spaces plus your explosions will have an additional 25 larger radius Rank 2 if you want to include that is going to do 25 more bonus damage for the recommended background on this build cyberneticist seems to be about the best as medicine and security are pretty much always helpful on any build and an extra point into lasers will help you get a jump start on your weapon of choice however you decide to play it this is definitely a fun one let me know what you think down in the comments section below just like any classic Bethesda game Star field allows for some serious Stealth gameplay options which brings us to our next insane build Ghost the ghost combines stealth skills with some serious Firepower letting you take out entire space stations full of enemies while remaining nearly undetected for the starting background on this one the Cyber Runner makes the most sense to me as you get both stealth and lock picking build combat medic is another strong Choice due to Pistol certification as well as medicine and wellness which are great all-around skills that every build should use now as you'd expect Starfield does offer a full stealth skill line and it's quite good giving you bonuses to stealth damage while also reducing your chances to be detected the thing about Stealth is that ranking the skill up also unlocks an improved stealth detection meter something that makes it easier to tell if you're about to be discovered or not so make sure to rank up that stealth skill right away now the key equipment you'll need to pick up on ghost is definitely a suppressed weapon of some sort for eliminating targets from range especially while stealth or that bonus stealth damage now pistol is going to be my favorite option here as they are light have plentiful ammo and can benefit from multiple training disciplines all at the same time this includes pistol certification ballistics Marksmanship sniper certification and sharp shooting basically you can get all the benefits of a long-range weapon with a fully upgraded pistol but also have a bit more flexibility for close range combat if you need to the nice thing about maxing out this entire combat skill tree is that you'll unlock the more advanced skills faster letting you power up this build very quickly compared to others in the game other than your weapon there are various equipment pieces too that can also benefit a stealthy ghost style build for example there is a chameleon trait which you can get on your equipment which helps you blend into the background to avoid detection when you're not moving and now beyond the basic stealth skill tree you'll also want to work towards Master Level concealment skills to unlock the ultimate version of the ghost build this skill tree gives you yet another bonus damage multiplier to stealth attacks but also lets you run while you're in stealth and even lose enemies after a time so you can actually restart a fight if you need to additional supporting skills I would recommend include securing because you're bound to come across plenty of locked doors in this game as well as locked chests which you can open for more Loot and since you probably don't want any companions stomping around or engaging the enemy prematurely the isolation skill is a pretty unique Choice here this gives you huge combat damage and resistance bonuses for running solo so that's definitely worth checking out if you prefer the Lone Wolf playstyle being an Explorer in Starfield is definitely expensive it's bad enough that constellation doesn't pay its members all that well plus you have all these other expenses like ship maintenance renting an apartment perhaps an expensive Aurora habit and it's almost like you need two jobs just to make ends meet well if that is your situation and you need to make those extra credits I definitely recommend playing Starfield as a space trucker similar to our Bounty Hunter but much less violent you can earn credits and level up while you work hauling around junk from one planet to the next to get started you'll just need to head back to our friendly Mission board in new Atlantis here you'll see several cargo missions where you need to deliver various items of specific weights to other planets Outpost or space stations the main thing you need to pay attention to here is the cargo weight requirement you're starting ship the frontier for example only comes with about 500 Max cargo weight available so if you want to be a true space trucker you'll need to upgrade or if you're like me at a second ship to your Fleet specifically designed for running cargo so here is my cargo ship I've nicknamed her Big Bertha which I actually built from a repurposed prison ship and I outfitted her with some extra cargo modules improved Shields and also improved engines to make these runs a little bit faster the whole thing cost me less than 20 000 credits which I can make back easily in about 10 cargo runs so everything after that is gonna be pure profit on the mission board you'll also notice there are some passenger Transportation options again all of this really depends on how you build your cargo ship there are different modules for cargo versus passengers I have added both that way I can do both types of missions if I want to there's also a time limit on these missions so keep that in mind too you'll want to do them right away before they expire but if you're looking for that Starfield side hustle hauling space junk or some space hitchhikers is a pretty good deal there's even a starting background for this which works quite well called a long hauler this starts you off with skills in weightlifting piloting and Ballistic weapon systems so give this a try and let me know what you think next up on the list we have the powerful heavy Weapon Specialist the Gunner which focuses on you guessed it heavy automatic weapons like the minigun this build is basically the polar opposite of the ghost build which we saw earlier where instead of being stealthy and kicking off targets one by one you're gonna make your presence known right from the start raining down bullets on as many targets as possible to get started I recommend choosing the soldier starting background here as ballistics will apply to most heavy weapon options in the game plus Fitness and boost pack training are always very helpful the hardest part of starting this build is obviously getting the right weapon now you do get a lot of weapon drops in Starfield either from spacers or Pirates but most of these basic enemies Do not drop miniguns only basic weapons now don't worry though the UC Surplus shop located in the well District of new Atlantis does have a decent weapon selection including this micro gun which is essentially a minigun and if they don't have it at the time time when you're browsing all you need to do is wait in this chair or any nearby seat for 24 hours and the Shop's items will restock allowing you to purchase the perfect starting weapon for this build now the same trick also works with ammo by the way which you will need a ton of for this build so buy up all the ammo stock you need for your particular heavy weapon type and then just wait another 24 hours to buy more using the same trick as much ammo as you need but ideally a few thousand rounds for longer trips in terms of skills this one is also pretty easy to set up in the combat tree here you'll want to put points into the ballistic skill first to unlock the rest of the skill tree levels and then heavy weapon certification with that bonus heavy weapon damage plus a nice 25 physical resistance boost while aiming down sights rank one of Rapid reloading is also helpful for faster reloads on all ballistic weapons including most Heavies and speaking of other weapons considering how much ammo this build chews through I would definitely recommend investing in a trusty backup shotgun or similar weapon when you need to pump out damage quickly or around corners and Tighter spaces but also helping you conserve your primary ammo type finally once you have enough skill points to cover the basics the Master Level skills of armor penetration and crippling will also be extremely effective on this build in endgame making it truly insane allowing you to rip through enemies while also disabling them in place a very nasty combo against all enemy types and that brings us to the final and most powerful build on this list now as I mentioned earlier this will have some minor spoilers but I'm going to keep it as minimal as possible just to show you how the build works and I won't even say the name that's referred to in game because that's a bit of a spoiler in itself so if you've seen any of the Starfield trailers you've probably seen some type of special power or I saw some people calling it space magic now I won't tell you exactly what it is or how to get it but I will confirm that it's in the game and it's pretty insane but what's crazier is that most of these powers are completely optional meaning you have to go out and find them if you want to use them but I definitely recommend you do so because combining these unique powers with any of the builds I listed earlier can really take those play styles to the next level you can also build around specific Powers as I was able to in my first playthrough making it pretty easy to deal with some of the late game enemies and even the final boss fight some of these special powers you can obtain are going to deal with combat directly While others are more utility oriented and there are close to 30 unique powers in all spread throughout the Universe for you to collect so there's tons of customization options here but for now I'm just going to mention three of them to give you a small taste of what's possible and number one is called anti-gravity field and it's the same power that Bethesda showed off in recent trailers what this does is it lifts up surrounding enemies into the air disabling them kind of like grogu in the Mandalorian and this is especially good for taking on multiple enemies at once or even bosses with armor as you can just let them float off into space while pounding them from underneath with bullets or punches second is called phase time which is also really good for any type of build as the slows down time around you similar to how that combat boost pack perk worked earlier and this is going to be perfect for helping you land head shots on multiple enemies before they can even react and third is a power called sense star stuff which is insanely useful too especially for any stealth or sniper style of build like the ghost build we showcased earlier as this lets you see all surrounding enemies from distance and through walls and cover now once you unlock these special abilities you'll also get a new meter added underneath your health bar kind of like a magic meter as each power has its own cost value that you're going to need to manage there are also ways to increase your power regeneration letting you pump out these skills much faster in specific situations so as you can tell from the gameplay this is the ultimate way to supercharge your build in Starfield should you choose to do so of course all of this is completely up to you to make your perfect Starfield build come alive but I hope this guide has been helpful this took a ton of time to put together capturing all the footage and testing out all these builds so if you got anything out of this at all please do me a favor and zero gravity punch that like button into space to let YouTube know to share this video with others I will have more details on each build down below so check out those links as well as some of my other star field guides on the best skills to pick and common star field mistakes which should be on your screen right now and thanks again for watching [Music] [Applause] [Music]
