what's going on my name is Michael and welcome to fudge Muppet Starfield is a sensational game and I have to say it just keep s getting better and better the more I rack up those hours and find new things I never thought Bethesda would bother to put in the game there's so much to see and do and so many ways you can have fun in this game whether you're explaining through a faction doing side quests or simply spending hours building your ship today we're jumping into Starfield again with seven more things I wish I knew before playing quite a lot of hours not just before I picked up the game I've personally played over 200 hours myself but these are things I would have loved to have known much earlier on the first thing on this list I wish I knew involves a specific thing you unlock within a certain mechanic in Starfield you probably know about but if you've never played the main story of Starfield up to the point where the top part of your menu opens up into an area you can view then skip to the next part of this video using the timestamps I've made for the video everyone kind of knows what this area of the menu is but I'd still consider it early to mid-game spoilers so here's a warning three two one here we go so as you may know starfield's main story will see you unlock unique powers that you can use believe it or not I actually forgot to use these powers in combat for a ton of my first playthrough as I was just so engrossed in my general place style and skill choices I'd go unlock them and use them occasionally but not very consistently one power you'll unlock more often is personal atmosphere because it fresh as your O2 which is basically your stamina and gives you a period of unlimited O2 use meaning that you can just have infinite Sprint while using it to Traverse planets faster and do huge loot Holes without becoming so weighed down suffering the negatives of being over-encumbered that getting back to your ship simply isn't possible though you still can't use it and then just fast travel back to your ship believe me I tried I actually read a comment saying that this doesn't work when you hit like 3K over the limit so I went and tested it and discovered that the limit for me was actually 4413 so at 4412 I didn't lose any O2 and at 4413 I only lost the tiniest bit and then it seemed to scale so I'd lose more as I added extreme Mass but it was still way better than not using the power at all but then I realized this was all affected by the gravity of the planet I was on anyway if you go to a planet with high gravity like porma 3 the amount you can carry before you see O2 depletion while sprinting goes down dramatically but you can still get so much use out of the power that unless you want to carry thousands in carry weight you should find it gives you infinite Sprint on any Planet at one point when I added many more thousands to my carry weight just to see I would lose stamina for sprinting but regain it if I just ran normally so unless you want to literally be the cargo hold you'll be fine and get a lot of use out of this power another Power worth quickly mentioning as a convenience help is Moon form in general it pretty much makes you invulnerable but I find it's useful for recharging your health in between battles if no other options are available or even better you just don't want to waste a med pack or other Aid item the second thing I wish I knew is that PC players can get a secret Advantage when it comes to their boost pack here at fudge Muppet we actually play on PC but for comfort's sake we prefer to use a controller to sink in long hours and sit back in a more relaxed way so if you go to the save menu section and go into settings you can go to bindings and then if you're on PC you can put in an alternative key for the jump key when I start touching my Xbox controller you'll notice the option for the ALT key disappears anyways set the ALT key to a different button I'll just use Mouse 3 for this example and then as I'm running around you'll notice that the Boost pack pushes me further forward back and side to side I tried using it with the power boost pack but I didn't notice as much of a huge change especially compared to the skip capacity and balanced boost packs which are clearly better at propelling you forward instead of straight up if anyone can figure out how to do this on Xbox that would be awesome but yeah this is perfect for exploring and I wish I knew this because I could have used it to get across planets much faster just switching over to my keyboard temporarily I'll alternate each jump on screen now one using the normal jump key and one using the alternative binding and you'll be able to see the difference very easily on screen if it wasn't obvious already the third thing I wish I knew was that it's often better to just equip your ship with two weapons instead of three the Frontier starts with Ballistic weapons laser weapons and missiles all of which are fun to use at the same time especially as you upgrade to bigger and better versions and find the coolest spots to put them all over your new ships however as cool as it may be it tends to be better to take the extra units of power you'd put into a third weapon and spread them evenly across the two other weapons particularly if those weapons are ones you've invested skill points into doing so can also save skill points because instead of investing into three damage types you could invest into two ship damage types plus the shields or two damage types and some other skill your build once unrelated to ships speaking of shields those extra units of power that could go into a third weapon during combat even if you have two weapons power levels maxed out could also go to boosting your shield and maxing that out and then even your engine if you want to make you faster and harder to hit a third weapon can be fun don't get me wrong particularly if it has a special purpose like em Weaponry to disable ship systems or you just have it as a backup in case one of your weapons gets disabled but as a general rule both Scott and I have found ship combat goes better when you focus into two weapons instead of three even if you've got three there you'll even get a little warning thing in the shipbuilder saying you have a weapon slot unallocated if you only put on two your ship also has limited places to put weapons especially if you're making a small Nimble Starfighter type of ship and you'll save credits by not buying three weapons and you can put those credits towards buying a better Shield or better weapon types for the ones that you do have it could be ballistics and lasers or perhaps ballistics with particle beams which does a mix of ballistic and energy damage ballistics do more damage to the hull and lasers more to the shields so it's nice to be able to Target both of course if you want to just make a huge warship and invest all your skill points into ship damage types and get a neutronic fusion in the science tree to make your reactor produce extra units of power and try to get a lot out of three weapon types all being fired at once then go for it but I think this will be a good tip that the majority of players can still benefit from at least for a large chunk of their playthrough as a little side note it also makes the controls easier so you're just focusing on maneuverability while firing and not having to take your thumb off the right stick to press y for that third weapon slot the fourth thing I wish I knew is that stolen items can effectively be washed and in more than one way the first way is that you can actually take them to a vendor who buys stolen items and then once you've sold them to them head down to the buyback section before you exit the trading menu and buy it back for the same price you sold it for trade Authority vendors are great for this as they do buy stolen goods however if you want places to sell or wash stolen goods and sell Contraband without any scanners detecting you then you can use any of the Crimson Fleet vendors the bartender at the Red Mile on porama 3 within the Parma system and the trade Authority vendor in the den within the wolf system which isn't very far from Alpha Centauri at all cleaning stolen goods and making them normal would feel a bit more law friendly and less exploity if there was some 10 markup when doing so to represent the vendor getting some sort of benefit out of it however if you want another way to rid your items of their stolen status if they're actually gear you can modify them this feels somewhat more law friendly because you can get a stolen gun and then modify it changing it to look more original and making it unrecognizable as stolen from anyone else then again if you want to really be nitpicky you could say that regular items being recognizable are stolen in the first place where no one saw you steal them is a bit silly in general but you can see why Bethesda likes to do it from a gameplay perspective the fifth thing I wish I knew was how to easily get em weapons and exactly how they work so electromagnetic weapons deal a specific damage type that knocks enemies out instead of actually killing them it's the perfect Weaponry for any kind of pacifist build and it's particularly effective against robots one of the easiest em weapons to get is the Nova blast disruptor because sold in a specialty shop in the ryugen lobby on neon it uses heavy fuse ammo so don't forget to buy some here however when I went to this shop at a really low level the vendor would only sell me particle beam pistols and none of these em rifles so I had to steal it off the wall and then wash it at the trade Authority using the technique we just talked about this is the EM weapon that most players will get and you can buy a scoped version if you're looking for some long-range Precision what you might not know is that this weapon can actually do more damage if you hold down the trigger before release now I didn't realize this for ages but it actually seems to charge it while playing on Xbox you'll feel a little vibration in the controller to tell you that it's charged and ready to deal the most em damage possible but on PC you obviously won't feel that your mouse won't vibrate the ridicule won't change but the gun does start to visually look like it's shaking a bit on screen so you can see it it's just easy to miss it uses the same amount of ammunition to fire a Charged Shot 2 making it pretty much always worth doing if you're into weapon moding you can also change certain weapons to deal Em damage in the magazine and Battery section at a weapons bench a uniquely named weapon you can buy the Brawler's Equinox is sold by a specific vendor in the well District of new Atlantis you'll have to do his quest by picking up a package for him on Parma 3 before he becomes a vendor and lets you into his secret gun shop he also sells acid rain which is a green Grendel I covered as an honorable mention in a recent video on a bunch of nice guns that are easy to get early on in Starfield Brawler's Equinox is just a modified Equinox and it's automatic so you just fire away and enemies eventually get knocked out it just doesn't have the same One-Shot knockdown assassin feel you can get from the Nova blast disrupter damaging foes with normal Weaponry will wake them up so I recommend avoiding any gear that can randomly cause damage like fire damage to nearby foes or things like that as this will just make them get back up a knocked out enemy can be pickpocketed over and over to train the theft skill as I talked about in a recent video and if failed attempt will wake them up so you'll need to blast them again and try again thing number six on this list of things I wish I knew was how much ammo I was leaving behind in actual guns so when you kill an enemy and loot them you'll often only want to take the most expensive guns and spacesuits around that are going to fit in your inventory you'll also want to pick up every piece of ammo you come across as they're essentially free credits completely weightless a great way to earn extra credits while looting because you just go and sell all the ammo anyway if you're like me then you probably just leave behind all of the guns you're not going to be taking back to sell however you actually should pick them up because they can contain ammo and it can be a lot of ammo too particularly if the enemy has not used their gun yet they seem to actually use the ammo they've got so if they just ran out of ammo and they're in the middle of reloading and you kill them taking their gun doesn't seem to give you any ammo on the flip side if you're playing a stealth character or you're just so lethal that you take out a bunch of enemies before they get much of a chance to spend time firing back then their guns tend to be base basically full this is great when you find a tough enemy using a powerful gun type especially one with lots loaded in like a MAG storm the good news is that the ammo automatically gets put in your inventory once you take the gun so you can literally just drop the gun after taking it or even transfer it back to the body you're looting in the same menu instance that you took it in enjoy all the extra ammo that won't wear you down and additional credits as a result or perhaps just more ammo for the gun you actually use the seventh thing I wish I knew was that selling Planet survey data to Vladimir is The Right Move no matter what anyone says there are quite a few comments and even full-on articles I've seen claiming that Phil Hill from list is the person you should sell your planet survey data to people were saying that you sell your normal Planet data to Vlad but your inhabitable Planet data to fill Phil wants you to survey habitable planets and he will offer to buy the data from you you can find him in the bar on cedonia but I've also seen him around new Atlantis too anyway if you try to sell him data it won't work unless the data you have is from a planet with conditions that humans could live on safely so that doesn't just mean a planet with a life a human should be able to live there and walk around with no helmet and so on proper safe settlement type locations such as Leviathan 4. so Legend had it that you could get data from these planets and sell them to him for even more than Vlad would buy it for you'd also be able to open the sales menu if you had data from an inhabitable Planet which seems to be true and then you could sell him data from any old Planet which is also true once you get the menu open what's not true is that he pays more than anyone else unless it depends on some other Factor I've missed like main story progression it appears that Vlad easily pays the most regardless of the planetary data type so I really wanted to dispel that rumor because it felt like such a waste of time looking for super inhabitable places and scanning them to completion just to find out that he doesn't buy them for all that much at least I could still sell it to Vlad and without any spoilers I'll say that if you haven't got got that option with him try exhausting his dialogue another quick thing related to this topic you might not know is if you do find any of those abandoned research Towers which are one of many randomly generated locations you will be able to find a computer inside there tends to be a Secret Vent entrance on the roof but I actually find it easier to just use the front door and take the lift up walking into the storage area you can just hop up to the second level and use the computer which opens this door here or you can use the computer in the room right near it to open multiple doors around the place and then you go into this room the computer inside will give you some survey data some people claim it can give you all of it or part of it but every single time I've found one it just gives me one planet trait and because of that I don't recommend jumping around to planets looking for science related outposts thinking it's some sort of quick hack to survey planets it's usually going to be quicker to just survey things yourself so view it as more of a may as well type of thing if you're there speaking of which while you're
