having finished several playthroughs of Starfield now this got me wondering what the ultimate start to the game would look like in other words how overpowered could I get from Level 1 without doing any of the main story and I think I figured it out following these steps you can quickly unlock two more powerful and unique ships completely free a full suit of legendary armor a legendary sniper rifle several more unique weapons and armor pieces and well over 100 000 credits and all of this before you kick off the main story with constellation to give you the ultimate overpowered start of course I may have missed something so if you have any suggestions be sure to leave those in the comment section below and let's talk about character creation Now when it comes to starting backgrounds in Starfield there is just one truly overpowered choice in my opinion and that is the Bounty Hunter the reason for that is because ship combat in Starfield is literally the most challenging aspect of the game especially at the start where your ship is not all that great now I will show you how to unlock two more unique ships for free in just a moment but trust me having rank 1 and piloting and targeting Control Systems from the start makes ship combat a breeze plus boost back training I mean come on who isn't using boost packs in Starfield now regarding trades I do think that some traits are objectively better than others as well producing more benefits for any character regardless of your build or your play style and my favorite trait by far is kids stuff which comes with a very small penalty just 500 credits per week but has tons of benefits including free weapons armor and even eventually a free ship plus you get to have all kinds of awkward and cringe-worthy conversations with your in-game appearance which really makes this trait s tier in my opinion then there's Terra Firma which increases your character's health and oxygen while on a planet but reduces that while in space so generally you'll spend a lot more time on planets in Starfield than you will on ships or on space stations so again I think this one just makes sense and the third trait for me is kind of a wild card but if it is your first playthrough I always recommend picking up hero worshiped to get access to the adoring fan companion for some pretty hilarious dialogue options but also because he has bonus carry weight which means he can haul around all of your heavy weapons and armor which ultimately lets you keep and sell more items and help you earn more credits which is nice disappointed so starfield's introduction is pretty linear there's not a lot of unique weapons or gear that you can get here in the first few minutes of gameplay but I do want to point out that once you get to Crete and you start fighting the Pirates here the Crimson Fleet captain that you encounter on the rooftop is probably going to be the first Elite enemy that you'll meet in Starfield which means you can potentially score an epic or even a legendary weapon or armor piece from him if you get lucky I did Cover how this works in my Starfield Secrets video so make sure to check that out if you haven't already but basically any Elite enemy which has the unique icon or background where their level should be they also have extra health bars they have more health so they're harder to defeat but they also have a chance of dropping uncommon rare and even legendary items and the key to farming Elite enemies like this is to save your game when they are extremely low health and then kill the enemy to see what drop you get and then reload your save if you want to try and get a different item now I don't recommend you do this for very long at the start but it is fun just to try this a few times to see what you get and sometimes it'll be something truly overpowered moving on from the introduction you'll soon arrive in new Atlantis here you can head to the lodge and speak to Sarah Morgan this will get you the large key to unlock the basement make sure to pick up any free weapons and ammo on the shelves as you head down and look for this room with some paintings and the locked mannequin case now something to keep in mind for Starfield is that anywhere you find these mannequins even if they're locked those locks can always be bypassed by placing your cursor just in this Gap area between like the door handle and the glass and you'll see the unlock prompt change to open so basically you can open these whether they are locked or not regardless of your lock picking skill and doing this here in the lodge basement gives you access to the best early game armor in Starfield the Mark 1 suit helmet and jet pack all of these pieces have extremely high defensive stats basically making you unkillable in the early game plus it is one of the best looking suits in my opinion so make sure to put this on right away also in new Atlantis be sure to hit the well District by taking the elevator down next to Jemison Mercantile this will take you to the UC surplus supply store which is basically covered from floor to ceiling in weapons and armor and most of these can be stolen so if you want further upgrades before heading out or if you prefer just to sell them for a quick profit you can do that too occasionally you will find epic and legendary equipment spawned in here as well so be on the lookout for those and I also recommend picking up the minigun here on the table as this makes for a nice early weapon as well speaking of selling be sure to head to the nearby trade Authority shop also located in the well District to sell off any of those stolen items that you've picked up for profit the most major settlements in Starfield will have a trade Authority shop just like this one we'll be coming back to these a lot especially to sell stolen items and also Contraband for tons of credits in just a little bit and finally before leaving make sure to find salinas's shop in the well also this will not be open to you yet but he will give you a quest to travel to the perima system which is where we'll want to go anyway and this job does have some unique weapons which will be worth getting in just a minute so pick up his mission and then set course next for perima on your way you'll need to make a few grab jumps between systems since you've never been to perima before during this process you'll probably travel to the Olympus system which also includes a fantastic early location the amalgas space casino this is a unique zero gravity location that's been overrun by spacers and can give you tons of Loot and credits including at least 20 000 credits worth of Contraband if you get to the jackpot area so go ahead and Dock and then eliminate every enemy here picking up any loose credits and items along the way in a security office near the bottom of the casino you should come across a computer with the jackpot code I'm not sure if this code is unique to each playthrough but my numbers were 12 19 36 and then five so feel free to try that if you want now the amount of credits you'll get from the jackpot is just a few thousand which seems disappointing at first until you notice the Contraband cash back here which includes several Contraband items which can easily be sold for an insane amount of credits so be sure to pick up all of these before leaving again we're heading to perima if you need to stop off in the volley system make sure to grab jump away quickly as you don't want to get any of your Contraband picked up by the free star collective security here but our next destination is Red Mile this is located on porima 3. so at Red Mile we can pick up the package for Salinas and also head inside to sell off some of that Contraband at the bar so just like any trade Authority the bartender will also buy stolen goods and Contraband and there's no security scans in this system so it is a great option just make sure to rest or buy up someone for supplies if you need to free up more credits so you can sell to her also be sure to search all around the Red Mile location I did find some additional Contraband to sell like this one which I found in an upstairs Hotel room but at this point you can fast travel back to New Atlantis to unlock salinas's shop and purchase his unique weapons I personally like the acid rain gun which does corrosive damage and also uses 7.77 rounds which are extremely common to get in Starfield but once that's done we'll head back over to Neon in the volai system which we passed by earlier here in the UC Security Office you'll be able to find another Contraband cash worth an additional 10 to 20 000 credits which you can easily steal and walk right out with and then sell back to the neon trade Authority for Pure profit there's also weapons and ammo which can be stolen here and either used or sold so you should have enough credits at this point to head to the weapon shop in neon and purchase boom boom the unique shotgun with Explosive Rounds that is absolutely devastating in the early game and should not be missed this is an incredible weapon for this stage of the game especially if you prefer that more in your face style of gameplay So within neon that you can begin accepting missions for the ryujin faction these generally involving talking to some NPCs or a bit of stealth or stealing but the rewards for these missions are fantastic and they will also get you tons of credits as well to get started just head over to the job application kiosk located in the neon core district and submit your job application and then head over to the tower to talk to your new boss again these missions are fairly simple and quick to complete so a lot of easy credits and experience can be made here plus once you get to mission four or five this is where you can unlock a secret ship and a unique laser pistol which are quite powerful in the early game now as I said to do this you're just going to accept the basic missions from your boss which will involve a bit of stealth and stealing so you may want to drop a skill point into each of those skills and this will take you to some additional locations like Aquila City and Sedonia now once you have the Sidonia mission to speak to Simon make sure not to persuade him or pay him off but instead offer to complete his side mission which has you traveling to the planet of Saturn and tracking down a bounty hunter by killing her off you can obtain her unique laser pistol called Ember and her unique ship the datura the Torah is actually a very nice upgrade to your Frontier ship plus don't forget to check its cargo for even more free credits and loot but so far we are just getting started next up we'll look at how to get a unique legendary sniper rifle and a legendary armor set plus another free ship on your brief stop to Aquila City during those ryujin missions you'll probably come across a bank robbery in progress but doing this Mission you can go in guns blazing or you can talk down the robbers via the persuasion skill persuasion here is definitely faster but can go wrong quickly so be sure to save but either way after saving the bank go ahead and turn around head up the stairs behind you and speak to kioni to start the defensive measures Mission this is actually one of three quests which will have you placing sensors around Aquila and eventually killing off some Wildlife outside the city Gates and solving all three of these probably takes 10 to 15 minutes in total but you'll be rewarded with even more credits plus a unique legendary sniper rifle called the despondent assassin not only is this weapon great for stealth builds because of the suppressor that it includes but the Legendary perks here are actually very nice for a sniper build not a bad reward at all for just a few minutes of extra leg work but to go along with any legendary weapon you'll of course want some legendary armor which is why we're headed back to the soul system and the Nova Galactic star yard now you will eventually be directed here as part of the main story but coming here early really doesn't hurt anything and it's an easy location to find spacers which is going to be our next Target make sure to save before loading this location and then kill off any spacer you find until one of them drops this secret Outpost slate picking up this item will unlock the Mantis Quest and reading this late will give you directions to The Den Ebola system to get started it seems like any spacer at random has the chance to drop this slate and kick start this Quest so if you don't get it from the Nova Galactic star yard I would just reload your save and try again now the Mantis Quest will be the most challenging thing you've done so far in Starfield but it's still very manageable considering the strong weapons and armor we've collected so far simply head into the base and destroy everything you come across making sure to pick up all the extra loot you can carry eventually you will come across a floor trap puzzle we want to spoil the solution to that go ahead and check the description down below I put some more information there but once you pass through all the traps the spacers and the enemy robots you'll eventually come to the secret lair of the Mantis and be able to pick up the legendary mantis armor as your reward before you claim your armor however do yourself a favor and save your game before opening the case as the three legendary traits you can get for each armor piece here are completely random and if you don't like what you get you can simply reload your game for another chance at something better personally I look for traits like mechanized for the extra carrying capacity weapon holsters is another good one to reduce your weapons weight and the automatic trait is pretty much clutch as this automatically heals you when your health dips too low but just remember what you get here is random so invest hover much time you want in Saving and loading if that's what you want to do before leaving it make sure to head back up the stairs to unlock another amazing free ship called the Razor Leaf this is another great upgrade over the base model Frontier ship plus I love the overall look of this one but there you go our perfect legendary start to Starfield with tons of unique weapons Armor free ships and of course credits to make your life easy hopefully you found this guide helpful and if you got anything out of it the absolute best thing you can do right now is Crush that like button also let me know in the comments if I missed anything or what you would change about this particular playthrough sure this can be improved and I'd love to do a update video in the future also if you like this be sure to check out one of the two Starfield videos on your screen next because YouTube's magic algorithm thinks you'll absolutely love these two let's see if it's right
