Hermitcraft in Minecraft VR

minecraft is a weirdly immersive game it's strange because on the face of it it doesn't look like it should be you know it doesn't have the most cutting-edge graphics in the world it's got slightly strange game mechanics and behaviors but it is incredibly immersive i would actually struggle to think of a more immersive game than minecraft i mean once you start up your world and you start creating things in your world that's what it becomes it's your world you exist in that world that is your space the strange blocky landscape and odd game mechanics all fade away they disappear inside your brain and you are fully focused on your little minecraft existence when i play on the hermitcraft server i'm in the hermitcraft universe and that might sound strange maybe i'm just a bit of a weirdo but that's genuinely how i feel so you can imagine my excitement when i discovered that there are modifications exist that allow me to play minecraft java edition in vr i can actually experience the hermitcraft universe with my own eyeballs in first person flailing my arms around just getting a feel for what this place is all about it sounds too good to be true so let's do it joining vr hermitcraft for the very first time this is definitely gonna be interesting oh my goodness [Music] my base area is pretty big this is the strangest most weird thing so i've loaded up my inventory with tons upon tons of ender pearls that seemed like the best bet for me because flying with an elytra in vr just seemed like it would be an absolute nightmare i had never really realized how big this area was i also hadn't realized how big bamboo was like look bamboo is like it's like this big wait how big lanterns are huge they're like i can hold a lantern it's like it's like a foot wide oh oh that's horrible that's like my my base is absolutely terrifying it really does give you a crazy sense of scale i'm just kind of like oh no it's me i'm on top of myself hello i don't know if anyone's online if no one's online then i'm just talking to myself it's girls online all right i'm in vr i am minecraft this is the weirdest thing okay let's let's go back up to the top all right how good am i in the purlin not that good not that good oh i'm stuck in a hole oh no this is not how i wanted to spend my time okay how many hearts have i got left i've got i've got a decent i've got a decent number is there any way that i can eat this carrot oh my goodness i feel like i'm brand new to minecraft again okay oh i've fallen in the hole again am i eating this is me eating fire it's not going well oh it's so not going well this is far more challenging than i expected it to be that's it did it go through into the it went through the nether for goodness sake i did not make my base very vr friendly here we are oh my goodness on the topic of iscal look at the size of his omega tree i still can't get over the size of bamboo i mean look this stuff's huge walking off of things is horrible it makes it actually makes you feel a little bit ill oh that is horrible wow the wrenches look amazing though this looks nuts this is insane [Music] this is like truly truly crazy i cannot get over the scale like the scale is slightly baffling to me i'm actually having to like crane my neck upwards to see the top of my base it's completely wild oh you know where we could go this could definitely start getting very risky given where my portal is but we could totally oh goodness me hello uh we could totally try and make our way over to the industrial district this is the most this is horrendous all right let's try and land there not gone well not gone well oh my goodness i caught fire not gone well at all how did i manage to end the poll directly into that okay well that we learned something there we learned something there right okay now where i have not made any of this stuff enderpearl or vr friendly whatsoever like when i designed all of the things i designed them based on the assumption that i would always have the ability to use my elytra if i miss we could be in serious trouble i mean really bad big trouble oh okay we made it we're there we're on the right track well this is going to be interesting so we've got a by three piston door here mambo perma pass there it is piston door opens this will never get old to me like this this will never get old i mean i really wish i could make my way on top of that farm if i end a pearl there oh dear [Laughter] hopefully that doesn't land in any of the lava farms i've landed in the bamboo farm geez this thing's tall oh i'm getting it's making me feel really sick when i get to the edge of things i've never felt this this much vertigo in my entire life wow that really puts into perspective how big this hole is i've just realized there is absolutely no chance i'm gonna be able to get back up there is there i mean how am i even gonna there's no point in me even trying isn't there oh oh oh what have i done here oh hang on can i actually can i peek through is there gonna be a way that i can shoot this through am i incredibly talented or am i being stupid here he's only gone and done it he's done it this is this is this is a very different experience to playing regular minecraft i can tell you that i think next up we should probably head over to the shopping district the shopping district definitely seems like something that we should go and check out there's a magma cube i if i get killed by the magnitude that would be so embarrassing well the barge looks great the barge actually feels like a real stall like this actually feels like something that you would see in real life and then of course you've got the hcbs clock i should really be making more use of the fact that i can point at things barge looks good christmas tree looks wonderful the scary witch she looks like a scary witch how difficult is swimming it's not that difficult do i have to [Music] here we go is it based on it's based on where my arms are going i feel like david hasselhoff in the spongebob movie wow who needs to go who needs to go to bali or the great barrier reef when you could just go in minecraft this is surreal iskals palm trees are looking lovely i can stand on pool floaties my life is complete oh the pool floaties are quite big aren't they look at this look if i wanted to hold on to this flamingo this thing's enormous well the town hall is massive and the hep headquarters looking over the horizon there that looks super super cool is there any way that i can get up to the top can i make it yes just about there we go i'm stood wow the diamond throne's so tall i've never realized how tall the diamond throne is i'm getting vertigo standing up here well there we go there is this is hermitcraft in vr this has definitely been an interesting experience i guess to round things up i should probably pet this dog there we go buddy i never thought i'd be able to do this you look absolutely lovely uh this this has definitely been an experience so there we go back to regular reality now is that what this is called i don't know what this is called anymore i think it's safe to say that that was definitely an experience if you have a vr headset at home i would one thousand percent recommend loading up your minecraft world in vr and just walking through it and getting a feel for it because it gives you a totally different experience from playing in regular reality what's this reality called life yep maybe just life it's definitely an experience would i recommend buying a vr headset specifically for minecraft vr no probably not it's not good enough to justify that but seriously though if you have one do it anyway i hope you enjoyed it's been a lot of fun and i will catch you in the next video see ya now that the video is officially over and only about four people are watching i can safely say that was very hot and sway whoa recording videos especially in situations like that where i wasn't sure if it was all working the anxiety came out of my paws in the form of sweat and when you're wearing a vr headset it gets real sweaty real fast just thought i'd let you know

I was kind of hoping he'd've met up with Iskall in the video. The VR mod I used had a serverside plugin that would allow other players to see your arm movements and it was hilarious.

Makes me wish I had more space to set up a better VR zone so I could play in VR again.

I actually wouldn't mind if he made the video around 20 minutes and explored other people's bases, like I know he tends to have smaller videos between hermitcraft episodes but this feels a little bit like a missed opportunity to me (even tho he probably explored more after the video I would have loved to see his reaction 😂).

Edit: it has arrived and the bamboo is freaking massive. Mumbo really missed out on flying with the elytra, its a blast!
