Girlfriend attempts my video style... Surprising results!

fights don't answer that a lot of these viewers in the past have seen me on this channel doing b-roll hand held the role to be specific and I thought today we would turn the tables a little bit because normally I'm behind the lens but today we're gonna find out if you are in fact be role queen what are your thoughts I think that it could shock everyone maybe potentially it could shock everyone it might not be with this I hope you mean that in like a good way but the twist is that I really can't give you a whole lot of help I can help you with basic things like moving stuff around you can tell me what to do I can be sort of your assistant but you can't really ask me for advice when it comes to things like camera settings really anything technical which let's be honest you should have already learned from watching my videos anyway however what I will say is that I will give you three lifelines you can use my phone to FaceTime our friends Pat Dennis and Matt you can pick and choose who you want to contact for which sort of topic if you do get stuck and need help that being said I'm excited to start but the b-roll games begin the point of this challenge isn't just to showcase your own style because I do want you to be unique and true to yourself and show people how you would do a video but I do want to challenge you to still try and incorporate elements that you would find in some of my videos things like seamless transitions and handheld camera movements trying to be as smooth as possible we're gonna kind of go with like a morning routine statement I guess you could say it's my dream morning alright step right up we got some lens options here what are we gonna start with here all right so since the first shot is wide establishing shots this for now this one's on here probably would do an okay job this one that's what you're going with 15 mil macro I mean it is wide all right looking good that's real wide obviously a very crucial step in Daniels filming routine is setting the focus something new for me because I am quite the autofocus go well while you're setting focus let me take this opportunity to tell our audience about today's sponsor reverse the shot so this is gonna be first shot the clothing rack is gonna look like it oh oh I see so you're just tying it around the bottom there and you're gonna pull it I think that'll be cool I'm gonna get a couple shots of Daniel just like looking through the shirts the hats whatever think we're gonna go a little less wide and try some of these guys out and we're going handheld for the first time never use from these I'm going to feel like such an idiot if I can't I think it's a lifeline time this sounds like a dentist thing he has an 87 3 he knows exactly what to do here give them a call hi Dennis how do you work this battery grip [Music] sir no because I don't know how to put the battery in it all right well she's gonna need it you have power you want to actually just like touch the shirt so it sways like just like kind of Nutter just like it I'm going to try and zoom into the shirt and let's pull it off I think would be really cool to have like a rotating sequence stop motion of you look kind of like as if you're on some sort of like fashion II lazy susan spinning around like a hydrolyzed yeah that's I guess what we could call it [Music] maybe hold it up just a little so somebody got tired and didn't want to keep filming last night and said they'd rather wait for the next day okay ready to finish the video let's do it so this shot is gonna be doing a walking down the stairs and I think you're do we gotta want to do this fill the frame we're gonna try and go from ceiling and reach all the way down may feel a little bit of a stretch but we'll see three two one go go so next shot Daniel is gonna be walking down the hallway into the kitchen to the cover to the nespresso to the computer I'm gonna do a transition where I'm pulling out of this cover into this wall maybe a spin CJ don't do a lot of spin I have no idea what any of that means but are we having fun is this fun I think I'm having fun I think no I think it's my thing I'm having more fun today than I was yesterday yeah we had an earlier story daniel is going to be grabbing a fresh mug all cleaned out of the cupboard here grab the coffee mug I'm gonna try and follow him I think we just went [Music] okay yes it's over there minutes how do you want me to sit I'm trying to film Daniel it's like one of the final shots so I want it to look really good this is the room set that we have set up there's your buddy your traffic your pal we kind of want it to look a little moody like right now the light because we have the natural light and we have the artificial light setup it looks too like commercial almost like if you put those down the couch a little like a little bit to the right side oh I see you're saying move this over like this so you're saying I would sit here and she would be on this side fill me into the light yeah and then like you can get close-up on the laptop ripening it might be too wide you might see the light that's the problem lens switcheroo action going on all right we're just gonna we're gonna go for it here that's good put the mug in the foreground I love it wait I really thanks Marty good luck thanks Bernie see you guys all right so Sara's just informed me that she's been working hard on this edit but she's having a little bit of trouble with some of the transitions what exactly is the issue they're just looking a little choppy they're not super seamless and that's the whole point of this video we worked so hard while we were filming so I don't want it to all come crumbling down in the editing phase you know what I mean right so I think it's about time you how's it going badly for you it's number two today tonight Lucy thing my first transition ended in the wall and then started in another wall but they're kind of different shades and I just I don't know probably didn't film it perfectly so they're not matching out 100% the easiest way to do it for sure is by going to your effects tab and if you pull over the cross dissolve when you put it between cross dissolve is honestly it's the way to go people kind of trip it sometimes because all those beginner things but it's a sneaky little thing they'll blend them together for sure any tips on how to apply it oh don't let the cross dissolve last for very long girls you can kind of see it working its magic the key is to make it alright I won't give that a try thank you okay today is the day it is finally time to watch this masterpiece you've been cooking up for the past couple of days are you nervous yeah you just told me you were nervous so well before we dive in and take a look at this what I want to know is did this pan out kind of the way you envisioned it in your head yeah I didn't have like a clear-cut vision when I got into the editing stage I felt a lot more comfortable because editing is my personal favorite part of the creative process so I think I got to like include some of my own elements there I'm really dying to find out how this all panned out but without further ado here is the daniel shiver dream abbey roll by sarah dunk it actually turned out really cool oh that was sick too [Music] yo that was sick I just spat what my god hold on I need to watch this one more time you're all by Sarah dunk we're playing this I that was a lot to take in I love the pixelate they need it there when I dropped it that actually turned out really cool the transition right there is unreal okay sorry I couldn't say more while watching that I just like had to take it all in twice um Wow this exceeded all expectations but like tenfold that was like really really good did you know it was like this good like are you I'm so used to when we worked together usually it's you filming and me not doing any of the work besides chopping up a salad or skipping an ice cream but I guess I kind of am like used to seeing your shots so to me it just seemed normal but then I realized it actually did this so that was cool you really truly perfectly embodied what the challenge is all about which is to fuse our two styles together you have all those like seamless fill the frame transitions with the cross dissolves that Pat showed you and then you of course have your little like animations the things popping up the gifts the cute little like swirlies when the coffee is pouring I know I've already said this but I love how you added the pixelate when I drop into the frame here that was really unique I would not have thought to do that I don't know if I've ever even used the pixelate effect in Final Cut but I might start maybe that's the next trend you might have just started something Daniel for every role you have your four corner video thing with the animated background that's very you even the stop-motion like turned out like I was kind of skeptical how that was gonna go but it looks like pretty good and then especially what like the shirt coming off that worked out perfectly and then this shot here I'm taking the mug out of the cupboard that was like it actually looks like something out of one of my own videos that's really cool to see you nailed it I feel like it was a good little creative push and nudge for me to like try
