[Music] all right first and foremost thank you two-story blocks for sponsoring today's video stick around till later on in the episode and I'll tell you about how I use stock footage to spice up my b-roll sequences all right so the plan I'm gonna come in like this I'm gonna give you the cue you start pouring and I tip you look like you're in Monday mode if you've home watching the vine those things are gonna be like wait is he actually mad go for it let's do it again can we bring it a little bit closer yeah camera rolling and here we go go for it I think that was good I started too early I haven't almost tempted to do it handheld three two one go I honestly think that was the best take so far that's the first one without a gimbal three two one lift a tiny bit higher if you can three two yeah that's good let's go again three two one I think that was good I'm gonna try something interesting right now real quick and we can have his face like right there you know I mean like looking at it like as it's dripping and then I think that well let's get that out of the way then we'll move on to the next so let's do a practice one right now I'm gonna do that arcing orbitting shot and we're gonna get your face right here like staring at it we're not gonna have a drip yet but I want your face like right here so you can wait a little longer like wait until like I'm about to hit you that's it I'm gonna move right again I think it's hilarious I love it oh the drips they're quick little tip for handheld movements like this this one's a little bizarre but you want to be nice and steady at your base I've got my toe right up against the countertop here or I guess the bottom of the countertop does that make sense and I'm like letting that support my weight as I come backwards and I'm using the underside of my pinky fingers and my wrists to slide along the table as I pull back I think that was it I think that was it now you might remember a few weeks ago I filmed a pizza commercial for pike oh here in Toronto and one of the challenges I had was trying to capture that amazing steam when a pizza is fresh out the oven on a video shoot timing can be tough and after filming several takes it's inevitable that capturing that steam on camera just wasn't happening well thankfully the sponsor of today's behind-the-scenes story box video is an online library packed with high-quality stock footage motion backgrounds and overlays like this smoke overlay which I use to add some fake steam to the pizza and I thought it turned out pretty convincing as a member of story blocks video you can download as many clips as your heart desires with no additional costs so if you're interested feel free to go to the link in the description or head over to story vox.com slash daniel shiver to learn more about story blocks video so just to fill you guys in a little bit on what we've done so far we've got five shots for our monday to friday sequence just to showcase that mundane daily coffee experience that we have throughout the work week you can see in the footage that brian obviously isn't very pleased he's not excited he just looks bored and that's exactly what we're going for now we're gonna switch things up a little bit we're gonna change the background and instead of shooting towards this kitchen area we're gonna switch to the living room background we're gonna get some fairy lights some practicals give it a bit of a mood and a vibe a bit more color I think it'll be a nice way to tie in the Kahlua bottle with all of the nice colors and branding I don't know if you can see here I can see in my camera there's a glare from the light so when it's on too much of an angle there's a lot of glare so you have to hold it at like like that angle either that or tilt it forward that might be better are you able to take a twist in that sort of position yeah three two one go so once you like pull and lift it up less hesitation like one seamless like boom you know I mean yeah I live way too close three two and go I think I was it do you think that'd be weird though if the first shot is of the Kahlua bottle and then suddenly cuts to ice going in a copy the thing is like right after cracking open that cooler should be the shot of it pouring it should be like pouring three two one actually move just a bit that way yeah there we go perfect [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music]
