words on in and at now hopefully it will clear things up and give you some extra help with those tricky little words so hello to everyone who I've been talking to in the chatroom so far hello if that you stay for the lesson you give it a thumbs up and you press subscribe so let's get started shall we prepositions so location prepositions now call this location and prepositions location mark 1 mark 1 because there are a number of prepositions that we need to cover so this will this will be the first of many preposition lessons I am sure so hmm here we go prepositions of location describe where something is in relation to something else so if something is contained inside a box or a wide flat area we use the preposition in so if it is in if you are or if the object you're talking about is inside something then we use ink so here we have Fido Fido the dog love little Fido and here I said Fido is in the box he is inside it he is surrounded by it okay so if you are surrounded by it you are usually in it you are usually in it Wow goodness me wow we've had a super chat all ready thank you so much here's that from so Jorge Jorge Eduardo Morales Castillo has sent over I'm not sure what that represents MX dollars Mexican dollars is that 100 Mexican dollars thank you so much and you said good topic thank you for your time Oh bless you Jorge so at the end of the session I'll explain what you need to do in order to get those notes so thank you thank you very much for your support I'm sure everyone here is grateful for those people who donate towards this channel and contribute to its growth that's excellent thank you so just think about in being inside Fido is in the box so another example of the sentence within would be when we were in your mother's house so if you're in a building the building surrounds you so you are inside it so you'd say when you were when we were in your mother's house the dog Fido kept jumping in and out of a box so when we're in your mother's house the dog Fido kept jumping in and out of a box all right hopefully that's pretty clear pretty straightforward but other sentences that might use in would be to get into the car to get into the car now we're going to talk a number of times about transport prepositions with transport can be can be confusing but when we're talking about a car we always say in the car so with cars obviously most of us will have driven a car or being in a car we always use the preposition in you never say on the car unless you are literally on top of it if you're on the bonnet the front or on the roof of the car and you say on the car but most people hopefully travel in the car where it's safe where you're supposed to be in the car so always use in the car and okay so lots of you saying some lovely things thank you very much all the love is very much appreciated and what have we got we've got a question here can into be together it depends what you're talking about if we're talking about a motion of being outside and then going inside let's say a school or a college you could say I'm going into college or I'm going in I'm going up yes so you'd say I'm going into college today I'm going into then you can say I'm in college today I'm I'm in college today all day I'm going into college today for the whole day so if you're talking about it with movement then yes you can say into so for example with Fido Fido is jumping into the box so I'm not sure if that is definitely the rule but definitely when we're talking about movement we would use in - he's jumping in - she's walking into the ocean they are walking into school together regularly so when we're talking about movement we would use in - so that's a good a good one to pick up well done well done for bringing that up and stunning that I'm in a tricky situation good so the situation's around you you are in a situation we would use that often actually I could say I'm in a very difficult situation right now most a bat in Shelby because that's actually quite a good one I am in a difficult situation right now I'm in a difficult situation right now so that's a good one thank you for bringing that up okay so rad one has asked I'm at a university today or I'm in university today well you can use both so because you're in a building the building surrounds you you're inside the building you can say I'm in University I'm in University today but we can also use at and I'll cover that when we get to the word act let's have a quick look what my patrons are saying can we say the dog is within the box yes we can say the dog is within the box Georgie but I think I would probably say the dog is within the box if the box was closed so if it's concealed I would use within to be in it might be like the picture shows the the flaps are open at the top so he's in the box the box surrounds him but if I was to use within it makes it feel like it's more concealed so it's almost like it's hidden what's within the box what waits within the room we don't know I mean technically you can use in or within but as a native it feels more like within is more hidden so I hope that makes sense and answers your question it wouldn't be better to say inside the box says Hippolyta you can use either you can say Fido is within the box Fido is inside the box Fido is in the box in all sentences we know that Fido is surrounded by the box so you can use all versions Fido is inside the box Fido is within the box sup Fido is in the box it just depends which version you want to use ok let's carry on and come in I hope that also answers your question you just said what about inside yes we can use inside and is it right to say I am in a meeting it absolutely is right to say I am in a meeting let's go back to the notes I might add that in in just a second so we've got to get into the car we've got I am in a difficult situation and I read it in the book that is in your hand so so information is in a book because the book surrounds the information ok so I read it in the book or I saw it in a book or I looked in inside the book ok so the book surrounds it so it always say in a book in a book and here I put I read it in the book that is right now that book is in your hand that book is in your hand ok so that means the hand is surrounding the book like this oh nice orange tickler I read it in the book in there that is in your hand the hand surrounds the book so it's in your hand so you might say to me can you give it to me put it in my hand right now put it in my hand and then you've got it in your hand love [Music] and okay and Nazim has said in the train or on the train will come to that a little bit later on it's a really good point and RAM has said on your lap or on your lap Ram do you mean in your lap or on your lap and he so I would say a cat is sat on my lap but I could also say and he threw it into my lap we would use on my lap more often than in my lap so on is the better one to use on my lap your lap is your the top of your legs when you're sat down so the cat is on my lap okay okay we'll come to we'll talk about vehicles at the end but remember in a car always in a car but we'll talk in more depth about vehicles at the end all right so we've got the book it was in the book that is in your hand when you're talking about the country or the place that you live we always use in okay so you say I live in London I wouldn't say I live at London I live in London which is in England I live in England I live in London but if you are giving your actual address you would say I live at number five number five whatever street number five in fact you wouldn't write number five you say I live at five and Frederick Street London so that's a really interesting point to note if you are talking about the city or the country in which you live you use in I live in London I live in England but if you're talking about the actual place the actual specific location that you live you're giving your address you say at I okay I live at five Frederick Street London and we always use capital letters when we're doing addresses okay so where do you live tell me generally where do you live in which city are you which cities around you which country surround you which country or which city are you in I live in Penang which is in Malaysia great sky well done I am going to the railway station or I'm going into the railway station railway station not rail station and you'd say I am going to the railway station or I'm going to the station we'd usually say for short but if you're literally walking into the building of the station you say I'm going into the station I'm going into the station right now I'll talk to you later bye okay let's see what my patrons are saying and is it oh just hi hi - Alec how are you hope that you're well are you in work so are BEC okay so I live in Switzerland but it's very close to UM konstanz Germany perfect good um hello from Bogota Colombia hello so you are in Colombia so we always use in when we're talking about the town or the country in which we live and so I like I said yes I'm in work very good good okay so let's carry on here you would say also so in is if you're surrounded by something or even if it's a long flat wide area so you can say I'm in a field I'm in the car park I'm in the car park um um I can't think of any other examples off the top of my head but but yes I'm in a field I'm in a car park you might say yesterday I was in Tesco's I was in Tesco's car park and I got a phone call or I was driving into the car park so the motion of entering the car park I was driving into the car park and I could phone call I live in the desert says Jana well done good and I live in Bangkok well done good and I am in the theatre well done Ram that's perfect let's have a lot of my patrons are saying is it right to say I am in a meeting yes we covered that already I am in a phone call or I am on a phone call mmm interesting if the phone call is a phone meeting between a number of people like a conference call you could say I'm in a conference call but if it's just one person you're talking to just the two of you to say I'm on a call I'm on a phone call I'm on a phone call okay a doctor from the book and English grammar information is in the book in the book good preposition is on page seven do these two sentences sound all right yes yes that's perfect what city do you live in in what city do you live about this is it better to use preposition in sentence and it's fine to use preposition at the end of a sentence so you can say this this is normal what city do you live in so I could say to you hi my name is Anna I'm from England you could say Oh England what city do you live in and I'd say London and that's very normal what city do you live in absolutely fine to use the preposition at the end it's a little all actually to say in which city do you live this is less natural it's fine it still makes sense but it's not as natural as which city do you live in or what city do you live in and then sorry you've all said I'm in the street yes you could say I was out in the street there was a fight in the street last night there was a lot of noise in the street and is it is it writing within or in SA which one is correct come use both of them can you give me a full sentence I'm not quite sure what you mean to write to write an essay I am writing an essay but I'm not quite sure what you mean there so just if you can just make that a full sentence for me and I'll correct it for you so so we have big open spaces stuck in a field I'm in a car park we use this quite a lot to look into somebody's eyes or the look in someone's eye you could say I knew something was wrong by the look in his eye he had a very strange look in his eyes like maybe someone just fit like this looking a little bit shifty shady like something's wrong or maybe someone looks happy and they've got a glint in their I too have a glint in your eyes that little that little spark that little smile in the eyes to say that you're excited a spark a glint in your eye or if you look someone I - I you're looking them in the eye so if you're shouting at someone you might say hey look me in the eye and tell me that you're sorry look me in the eye first and then tell me you're sorry and you go I'm sorry okay what if you said I saw you on TV what is that about you saw me on TV or is that a is that a practice sentence glint yes sky glimpse felt gl int a glint in your eye great okay let's carry on so to look someone in the eye what do you see in the picture in the picture so you'd say there was a beautiful there was a futile VARs in your pictures in your photographs I saw a beautiful VARs at the back where did you get a vast from or she looked really sad in the picture so when you're talking about an item or a description or a person inside a photograph or in a painting in a picture then you would use the preposition in not on so in the picture so if I said there was a glass of water in the picture that would mean the picture featured a glass of water but if I said there's a glass of water on the picture that would mean that this is the picture and the glass is sat on top of the photograph so say oh we'll take it off you might went to the photo so a very different meaning a glass of water in the picture means it's actually within the photo within the frame on means it's on top of okay Dada da Dada da I've got sparks in my eyes after hitting my head against the wall janna you'd say start I'm seeing stars with what you'd say if you bang your head and you're a bit dizzy you could say I'm seeing stars it's like the old cartoons where the stars go around your head you like dizzy I'm seeing stars I'm seeing stars and all you would fall in love there's one good and so you'd fall in love I hadn't thought about that one look into my eyes and I am in love with you look into my eyes I'm in love with you so you fall in love I won't put that in capitals to fall in love I'm in love with you so you are surrounded by your love you are encapsulated by your love you are in love with someone then you might say and they swam in the ocean while I sat in my boat they swam in the ocean while I sat in my so you are in your boat because your boat has sides and you're inside the vehicle you're in the boat but and the boat is on the water we'll talk about that in a minute but when you're in the sea when the water surrounds you and you're inside it then you are in the ocean or you are in the swimming pool or you are in the river or the canal or the lake or the reservoir okay we are in the fresh air yours into the fresh air so anything that surrounds you you are in it and then the final one over written here is I will have so tomorrow I intend to have breakfast in bed in the morning so I will have breakfast in bed this is a phrase that we say often to mean that you're going to have your first meal of the day while you're still in your bed so you might come downstairs make your breakfast take it back upstairs get into bed and eat and that that means breakfast in bed oh dear looks like I'm having a few a few issues with streaming here so sorry if this is not looking so great just bear with me there's not much I can do about it but hopefully the signal pick up so um so breakfast in bed and we talked about that in the morning but time preposition is a different matter and we'll talk about time preposition in another lesson I have covered it before but I will cover it again so lots of you making suggestions here I've got suggestions of in a dilemma if your inner dilemma is the same as being in a situation if the situation surrounds you and you're within it you would say I'm in a bad situation I'm in a dilemma at the moment we also have to be in the driving seat which means you are in control of something you are leading something so like a project at work if you are leading the project you say I'm in the driving seat I decide where we go with this project and we look into the mirror so look in the mirror look in the mirror lots of you are confused about that because your vision your reflection is inside the glass isn't it it's in the mirror so look in someone's eyes and then look in the mirror okay let's see what my patrons are saying here so in that photo not on that photo yes that's right so if something is in the photo something's part of the composition it's in the photo and look deep into your soul and into into your soul yeah you can say it look deep in my soul deep in their soul deep in look deep into yours in your soul yet into is the better one to use there to look into your soul look deep into your soul and look into my eyes not looking to look not look they're both the same oh okay I see separated that's an interesting point actually is it in two separate or is it in two together mmm it's a good question so when do we use which one do you know that's something I don't know I don't know does anybody know her apparently doesn't matter so um the one word form the one word form is when it's a preposition so prepositions used to talk about place time direction okay so yes in this case because we're using as a preposition we'd say into into so look into my eyes yeah that's an English is so confusing isn't it and so fascinating so many rules and combinations and possibilities Wow we have 211 people here hello hi we don't nobody have that many in one go and if you're here for the first time and you're enjoying learning English then we have lots of things to offer you here so please do make sure you press the subscribe button I know about 65% of my viewers aren't subscribed so if you are here all you have is free just press the subscribe button and the Bell notification button so that you don't miss any future lessons because I'd hate you to miss out on something that you find helpful and and do I dare have a look to see how many thumbs we've got should I should I go on then let's have a look is there going to upset me oh oh I mean 94 thumbs it's not for three figures but 94 is not bad I'll take that great thanks guys okay so let's carry on and so now we're going to move on to the preposition on so you are on something if something is on a line so if it's on a line or a horizontal or a vertical surface we use on so I always think of on like on top of on top of so if there's a line and you are on the line you're not surrounded by it then you are on so Fido here because this is a straight line on the top of the box he is on the box he's not surrounded by the box so he's on the box and here I've said when you were sitting on that dodgy chair Fido was sitting on the green box now who knows this word dodgy dodgy a dodgy chair a typic dodgy is to mean that it doesn't it doesn't work properly or and so if a dodgy chair is a chair that might fail a dodgy chair is a chair maybe with a wobbly leg or a chair where the back isn't very secure and if you lean back you might fall off so a dodgy chair and a dodgy person is someone you can't trust someone who might just betray you dodgy person don't worry Marco English is confusing even I find it confused and I'm a native so don't worry let's just keep working through it together little steps baby steps step by step we'll get there together and again I'm having problems with my signal oh it's so frustrating but okay so - and in - there's no difference on to and I do we don't use on too yes dodgy Network absolutely.i I've ate dot and why is it so bad anyway I'm going to try and carry on and hopefully it will pick up okay so so we have on so while we're sitting on that dodgy chair Fido was sitting on the green box and so I might say I threw it on the floor so think about the floor the floor is as straight surface the floor is a straight surface okay and if you have something on the floor then it's on top of the floor because it's a straight surface we're using on okay so on the floor we could also use the picture was hung nicely on the wall the wall is also a flat surface so anything you put against the wall is on the wall so normally things like photographs pictures and yes there's not much else you put on the wall wallpaper perhaps so it was hung the picture was hung nicely on the wall and okay people having problems with the signal not hearing what I'm saying I'm so sorry so you missed my answer for and on two-on-two is not a word you wouldn't put on and two together only in two and in two separate and in two together pronounced exactly the same so if you miss that that's what I said baa baa baa so on the wall and on the floor I would say to you do I have something on my face so maybe if you're looking at me funny or I think I've eaten a little bit and if my eating habits are a bit messy I might have some food on my face now go do I have anything on my face do I have to have food on my face so something's on your face but we can also say and for example if I throw water at your face I throw a glass of water at you now I could say my student just threw water in my face he threw water in my face which is odd right because it doesn't go inside my face but we would say he threw it in my face and we would use that also for if someone's angry and they're they're throwing and they're reminding you of things from the past and you can say I can't believe you just threw that in my face so something a mistake that you made in the past that you've said sorry for you might say well you did this and what I'm doing there is throwing it in your face so I'm just saying words but I'm throwing it emotionally I'm throwing it in your face so it might be that you help me you do a favor for me and you help me a lot and then later down the line I'll say well you're only helping me because you wanted me to give you a lift to the station or you are only helping me because you felt bad and by doing that I'm throwing it in your face your kind deed I'm throwing it in your face but if I have something literally on my face next to my face I'd say have I got something on my face oh I have it's gone now it's very confusing very confusing what else do we have we sailed on the river or we sailed on the ocean so remember I said before if you are surrounded by the water if you're swimming and the water surrounds you you are in the water you're in the ocean you're in the river but if you are floating perhaps you're on the very top or you're in a boat then you are on the flat surface you're on the line of the water so you are on the ocean or you are on the river on the water okay I hope that one's a little bit clearer okay yes and Kerri you said and I put on some powder on my face so you'd say I put powder on my face I put a little powder on my face before I start my broadcast to stop me looking shiny I put makeup on so you put makeup on your face and if someone's responsible for something it's on their head so if I muris I'm responsible for this broadcast I'm responsible for what happens in this broadcast so if this goes wrong it's on my head just means I'm responsible for it it's on my head it's my fault but if the signal cuts out that's not on my head that's that's the phone service providers okay we can say he perched on his motorbike now remember when we said car we used in because you get inside the car but with a bike even if it's a cycle bike or a motorbike you literally you mount it don't you you put your leg over and you get on it you get on the bike so you ride on your bike or you get on your bike and if you fall you fall off the bike on the bike off the bike get on the bike get off the bike and Krishna has said what's on your mind we regularly talk about things being on your mind which is another odd one because it's inside your head right so you'd say it's in it's in my head I've got I've got a good idea in my head but you talk about things being on your mind English is so confusing so here we go we've got um what's on your mind so if somebody is thinking about something they're obviously concerned or they're obviously thinking hard or concentrating hard on something but you don't know what it is you might say hey what's on your mind what's on your mind now we've got some new subscribers come in hello hi welcome do make sure you have press the subscribe button if you're new here and I love a thumb so if you are enjoying it here and I hope you are then please click the thumb up button because I love a thumb I do we have 128 Thums amazing thank you guys you guys are awesome okay let's carry on and IVA has said sometimes English gets on my nerves good really good one so yes we use the phrase on my nerves or something annoys you and you say it's getting on my nerves and like I say that the children are getting on my nerves this is a good phrase it means that they're annoying you to get on your nerves someone is annoying you okay and here we've got we got on the bus oh that's another vehicle and we using on the bus that's incredible because you get inside the bus so why would we say on the bus well I'll talk about this later but we definitely get on a bus we get so we got on the bus at 9:00 a.m. and then we were on the train there's another one by 9:30 a.m. so on the bus on the train on a bike but in a car I will talk about this at the end okay have you seen what's on the ceiling so similar to on the floor on the wall the ceiling is a flat surface is a flat surface so therefore if something is on the ceiling we have to use a preposition on because it doesn't surround if something's on the ceiling it's not surrounded it's on a flat surface so you're on the ceiling so if you think about who is it Lionel Richie who sings Oh while feeling where am i dancing on the ceiling do you know that song so on the ceiling um also if you're if you're spying on someone or you'd like to spy on someone you could say I'd like to be a fly on the wall right we'll fly on the wall in that meeting because a fly on the wall you wouldn't notice and the fly could hear everything good okay let's have a quick look at what my patrons are saying here yes sorry for the bad connection guys and I am moving house soon and hopefully when I move house I will get really really strong internet so hopefully that will be solved so onto one used with verbs to express movement or on or to a particular place or position and move the books onto the shelf so we use it as a preposition yes so when we're talking about movement on - oh I see I see so we do use it together okay see I didn't know that so you're teaching me something here thank you very much she sat down from the Train onto the platform okay so when we're using it as a preposition onto and into our together you used to show that something faces in a particular direction the window looked out onto the terrace ah okay now you see we all learnt something new altogether and finally I got in the ocean or finally I got on the ocean and it depends in the ocean would suggest you're swimming because you'll be surrounded by the water on the ocean would suggest that you are in a boat what about John Legend all of me what's going on in your beautiful mind and going on in sea because English is confusing I know and so you can use in your mind like you can say you've been um you can say you've been in my thoughts and you're just you're just in my head he's getting into my head and but in that sentence saying what's going on what's going on inside here so what's going on inside your mind or what's going what's on your mind what's on your mind or what's going on inside your mind does that make sense it's two different ways of saying it what's happening in your mind what's on your mind what's going on in your mind ah English is so confusing there's so many different ways to say the same thing okay let's carry on so what's on the ceiling that one's easy you stood on my foot you stood on my foot out don't stand on my foot and what does it say on the bottle so that means on the surface of the bottle not inside the bottle inside the bottle you'll have liquid so it might be a wine bottle or a water bottle and inside obviously you would have wine or water but was on the bottle imagining there would be a label on the bottle so you'd say what's on the bottle you say oh it says that it is water but inside the bottle it smells like vodka so in the bottle on the bottle completely different phrases also if you use the phrase he's back on the bottle or she's on the bottle you don't have to use back actually that suggests they're returning to he's on the bottle means if it's an adult it means he's an alcoholic or he's drinking he's drink he's on the bottle he's on the bottle again he's drinking again but if you're talking about a baby it means that they're not breastfeeding but they're drinking milk from a bottle okay he's on the bottle you could say what's on your t-shirt well what's on your t-shirt is the pattern or the picture that appears on your t-shirt so what's on your t-shirt and I'd say oh it's a picture of my family but if you say what's in the t-shirt I'm in the t-shirt yeah so right now my body is inside this t-shirt what's on my t-shirt nothing there's no pattern on my t-shirt okay and sterling lad one has said yes and I'm about to say curse word so if your child or your bio child put your fingers over your ears to be on the piss this is to be on on a drinking session so it might be on a night out or it might be a day event but you say I'm on the it means you're drinking I'm drinking to get drunk to be on the okay lots of questions coming through if I don't answer your question please forgive me it's not personal it's just this loads of questions and I can't possibly answer all of them so you would say what's on your pizza yes absolutely right one of you said I can't find the thumb it's just the like button just the like button next to next to the video just below the video if you're watching on YouTube okay and let's carry on so sure what do we got next we've got and sit on the sofa so you sit on a chair sit on the sofa and you eat what's on your plate sit on the sofa eat what's on your plate okay good let's carry on let's move on to act so if something is located at an exact position or a particular place so we're not talking about in general we're talking somewhere per specific you'd use at so I'm here saying Fido is at the box so I'd like to see where's Fido I can't find Fido anywhere and you say always it without the box the last time I saw him he was playing at the box you'd more like this a near the box in that situation but you could say at the Box he was by the box at the box okay and so for example you might say while you were at the airport so the airport is a specific location you might be inside the airport you can say in the airport while you were in the airport but we're just talking in general a specific location that we know you will be at so while you are at the airport picking up granny and we were all searching frantically for Fido Fido was sitting quietly at the pink box so this is a location where you were and this is the location where Fido was okay so here are some other sentences you might use come and sit at the table please this is what I used to hear all the time as a youngster Anna come and sit at the table it's dinner time put your games down come and sit at the table stop watching television come and sit at the table are you sitting at the table of course if I was sitting on the table let's imagine my chalkboard is the table if I'm sitting on the table I'm literally on top of it and my mum would shout at me for sitting on the table that would be very rude during dinner if I'm sitting in the table then something terrible has happened because I'm literally going to be inside the table that's just not possible but to be at the table is to be here to be set at one of the positions so at my position at the table at the table and what else do we have we've got they are at the cinema this evening so I might say hi can I speak to mr. and mrs. Lloyd please and you'd say I'm sorry they're at the cinema at the moment try again tomorrow so they are at the cinema of course they are inside the cinema building so you could say and we went into the cinema and we are in this we're in the cinema right now we can't talk but if I'm talking in general saying at what position are they right now they're not at home they are at the cinema okay so that at the cinema okay Slavik is saying oh no where are you there you are I'm sitting at my desk perfect perfect good and then you might say my keys are always at the bottom of my bag they're always at the bottom of my bag and this is true my keys are always at the bottom of my bag now of course they are in your bag your key where are my keys Oh your keys are in your bag of course they are they're always in my bag but where in my bag what specific place what part of my bag they're at the bottom so to be more specific they're at the bottom of my bag okay what else do we have we were at the traffic lights when it happened so maybe there was an accident no maybe there was a car crash say well where were you well we were at the traffic lights when it happened we saw everything we were at the traffic lights you can't be in the traffic lights and you can't be on the traffic lights unless you can climb and perch at the very top but you were at you will by the traffic lights and okay what are you guys saying on skype I've got an ax I'm on your skype on YouTube in the internet it's on everything so you hear you'd say I'm on skype I'm on YouTube and I'm on the Internet yeah so on on on in those in those cases um while I was at university so university a very specific place while i was at university there were statues at the front so while i while i was at university there were statues at the front so during the time while i was at university there were statues placed positioned very specifically at the front of the building at the front you could also say in front of but they're interchangeable are both the same and so dead dog ever said I'm at my wit's end that's a good one that's a good thing so this is the same as someone getting on your nerves you would say I am at my wit's end I'm at my wit's end good and at my wit's end and you might say you are at the hospital tomorrow for an appointment so if I spoke to my plane said and I wish I had a PA I don't have a PA a PA is a personal assistant I don't have one yet I need one desperately but I don't have one and if I say to my PA my imaginary PA what am i what am i doing tomorrow what's on the schedule for tomorrow she might say well you're at the hospital in the morning because you have an appointment and I got okay thank you very much so to be at hospital you're also in the hospital when you are inside the building but to go to the hospital some other people would say she is at the hospital and you might say she is sad she she sat majestically at the piano she sat majestically at the piano so do you sit at the table you sit at a piano you sit at your desk Fido was going mental at the window because at the window because someone was at the front door where were they they were at the front door so fighting was going mental this means to be like I'm however her like he's going crazy mental Fido is going mental at the window Ruffman office because somebody was at the front door dunno okay Wow stunning lab says I have a PA and a butler wow you're very lucky I wish I did and Bubba Bubba what is majestically and majestically means and like to be majestic is like to have Majesty like royalty to be kind of it's hard to explain to have majesty do you know what Majesty is so to have poise and if someone sits majestically there they're poised and they have good posture and they're they look like they're about to create some magnificent piece of artwork or some things they're going to play the piano wonderfully so they claim magically and majestically and good okay lots of you helping each other in the chatroom here which is what I love about you guys thank you so much you're all very very helpful obviously it's hard to be live and to do this live on my own so any teachers that are in the room thank you for joining and those of you who are more advanced who are helping other people in the chatroom thank you you guys are awesome this is what I think about you love love love love love this is why I love this community because you are great okay let's have a quick look at what you guys are saying I saw it on the internet I saw it on your site perfect and to be like a queen Queen spelt that way yes that's right George Georgie good standing that I am a teacher good great well I'm so glad you're here thank you already so let's carry on and I'm not going to send I'm at the hospital she sat majestically at the piano Fido was going mental the window I've done that one and the students were not at school that day so you could say oh there was a terrible gas leak on Thursday but luckily the students were not at school that day because they were on a field trip the students were not at school that day or I won't be at school tomorrow because I have to go to the dentist um good ok so here are some things some odd ones out bring these up here odd ones out so you would say something is on TV now if you're watching TV this is a television I'm your television right now I am on I'm on TV imagine this was a TV I know it's a computer or phone imagine I'm a TV this is I'm not TV you're watching on the TV I'm on TV me right now I'm on TV but you can also say that something is on the TV it's on the television so I might say where is poo you'd say poo is on the television so who is on TV but poo is on observe television so it might be easier to make it obvious to say on top of the television on top of the television or on the television crazy right really hard to know the difference on TV on the TV on top of the TV nobody watches TV nowadays and they kind of do here people still do here because we have like Netflix and sky and so people still have a television in their house and they watch it on top of the TV set we don't say TV set anymore we just say TV amaur amaur if people are asking me to please answer the questions you need to rewrite your question because I can't find it when I scroll back because there's lots of questions that am i I can't find your question I'm sorry I have to retype it all right um okay so um on TV the other exceptions are on the bus on the train on a plane now I'm going to explain vehicles to you so on vehicles or in vehicles the difference is and I have explained this in another in another video you say in a vehicle if you can only sit in it if you can stand a walk around you say on for example you can't walk around when you're inside a car so you'd say in the car you can walk around when you're on a bus or on a train so you'd say on a bus on a train and on a coach on it and you'd say the only difference is on a bike because you're literally mounting the bike okay but always think if you can walk around you say on when it comes to transport you say on if you can only sit apart from a bike if you can only sit you say in alright okay George George my lovely and sponsor for this video and with your super chat thank you again and I'm trying to be come a gold member to be in your whatsapp group but what is the link to pay and okay George so just drop me an email later in fact the link there's a link here in the description if you if you look down in the description this video you'll see mine links and you'll see my whatsapp group at the very top and that takes you to another video which explains what the whatsapp group is all about what gold membership is all about in the description of that video is the link to pay to join the gold membership okay so just click on the link that says what's that group in the description of this and that will explain everything to you and give you the proper links that you need okay hope that helps and yes we'd love to have you as a gold member our gold member group is very small but perfectly formed amazing amazing group of people very helpful and on the end or at the end it depends what you're talking about Krishna and you come to the end of a play and so at the end of the play at the end of the night at the end of the show but if you're talking about a thing so I'd say it fell I put it on the end of the table so I put poo on the end of the table and poo fell off okay or you could say I'm writing an essay and I added an extra little bit on to the end so I add an extra bit on the end okay good and or you might say in and if we're saying what happened what happened in the end I want to know what happened in the end when we're talking about a story perhaps or you can say at the end oh it's so confusing it's so confusing so many options one of the best ways to become fluent in English is literally just to keep immersing yourself in it I know I all these rules it's just so confusing and so hopefully now you say obviously on a plane because you can walk around so hopefully this rule about walking around sitting down has helped you so we say on the radio if you can hear something coming out of the radio speaker you'd say on the radio so those of you who follow English with Lucy and my lovely friend you know that she was recently on the radio a lot she did a lot of radio interviews so she was on the radio and she was on the television as well and so you'd be on the radio and we can also say with act we can say at home even though you'd be in the home you could say I'm at home or you can say I'm at work you can say both I'm at home I'm in in the home or in in the house you say I'm at work and in work okay so Harrison said look on the bright side Ana at least you least the English language has changed significantly since 1066 back when they spoke old English yes a language and it's changing everyday continues to change which i think is why we have so many confusions because things keep changing words keep getting added and pronunciations keep changing yes we'd say on the plane on the plane and Callie says my cat is on the TV and the radio a lot but just to keep warm so your cat sits on top of the television and you might sit by or on top of the radio and if you're inside an aeroplane you still say I'm on the plane I'm on the plane Marcus thank you Marcus says you're a great teacher Anna thank you very much that's very kind and so let's see what my patrons are saying here dr. Pugh is it true that there is poo as a verb to mean to poo and yeah to poo pooed he pooed yes yes to poo to poo yes yes yes and say I'm very British I'm getting all embarrassed because now we're talking about booing I did do a video all about bodily functions so and where you learn about what the word Trump means to us Brits it's very funny so if you don't know about things like that then go and look at my video backlog and find the bodily functions video and you can learn all about the verb poo and wee and all that kind of stuff okay and so then you'd say you're st. in a what is the IDI past Oh pooed food is just pooed and in a rocket or on a rocket well you wouldn't be inside a rocket would you so if you would mount the rocket like a bike and you get on the bike you get on a rocket you strapped it to a rocket and send it off into the air yeah or unless you're talking about an astronaut in it what are they they go in a shuttle be in the shuttle I don't know you have to clarify that question for me Georgie the moment is that make too much sense alright guys well thank you for joining me and that brings us pretty much to the end of that session on in an app I know it's still very confusing but hopefully there are a few things there that have helped to clear up some of your issues and so remember inside is generally to be surrounded by something I'm in my top I'm in the kitchen I'm in a very nice situation and if you are on top of something that is flat the wall the floor if something is mounted on the ceiling and if you are on top of it then you are on it and if you are by something specific then you are at that place okay all right so I'm going to answer a few questions and then I will and then always say goodbye and Georgie has said like a spaceship so you'd be on a spaceship because you can walk around it so you be on a spaceship okay um Peter Peters asked me the most incredibly long word how do you pronounce I don't know I don't know that's a word I've never seen before I can't pronounce it at all Horrell Aaron laryngitis Lauren Lauren geologist or yeah I don't know I'm sorry I'm not a doctor or a scientist I can't help you with that one and you're on the top of the top so this far back you're on the top of the top on its own that doesn't quite make sense you say you're on top and but on top of the top that doesn't quite work thank you very much for your letters you're awesome you're you are someone as well I'm not sure about this bit but thank you very much for the other stuff that's very kind of you you guys are awesome - thanks for joining patron gets entered into a free prize draw every month to get a free Skype call with me one on one and they get credited in the description of the video and also they get to know that they are helping other people in the world to receive English lessons because this is my full-time job and of course giving away free education doesn't pay so I need people to help me to afford my equipment to pay for
