the car with me in the storm suffering in my greatest joy sovereign in my deepest cry with me in the dark with me at the door [Music] in your everlasting arms all the pieces of my life from beginning to the end i can trust you [Music] in your never failing love you work everything for good god whatever comes my way i will trust you god whatever comes my way i will trust you all my hopes all i need held in your hands all my life all of me held in your hands all my fears all my dreams held in your hands [Music] in the name of the father and of the son and of the holy spirit amen the lord be with you and with your spirit in order to prepare ourselves to celebrate these sacred mysteries let us call to mind our sins lord jesus you are wound you were wounded for our sins lord have mercy lord have mercy lord jesus your heart was pierced out of love for us christ have mercy christ have mercy lord jesus you poured out your most precious blood to make us new lord have mercy lord have mercy may of the prophet isaiah thus says the lord if you remove the yoke from among you the pointing of the finger the speaking of evil if you offer your food to the hungry and satisfy the needs of the afflicted then your light shall rise in the darkness and your gloom be like the noon day the lord will guide you continually and satisfy your needs in parched places and make your bones strong and you shall be like a watered garden like a spring of water whose waters never fail your ancient ruins shall be rebuilt you shall raise up the foundations of many generations you shall be called the repairer of the breach the restorer of streets to live in if you refrain from trampling the sabbath from pursuing your own interests on my holy day if you call the sabbath a delight and the holy day of the lord honorable if you honor it not going your own ways serving your own interests or pursuing your own affairs then you shall take delight in the lord and i will make you ride upon the heights who was paralyzed jesus left the house where he had been teaching and he saw a tax collector named levi sitting at the tax booth and he said to him follow me and he got up left everything and followed him then levi gave a great banquet for him in his house and there was a large crowd of tax collectors and others sitting at the table with them the pharisees and their scribes were complaining to his disciples saying why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners jesus answered those who are well have no need of a physician but those who are sick do i have come to call not the righteous but sinners to repentance the gospel of the lord praise to you lord jesus christ one of the most beautiful commands from the lord is the command that we delight in him many times in scripture the lord commands us to delight in him you're all familiar with the psalm where the lord says or the psalmist says delight in the lord and he will grant you your hearts desires isn't that beautiful the lord wants us to delight in him we call it the duty of delight and we heard in the reading today the lord says then you shall take delight in the lord and i will make you ride upon the heights of the earth you know the lord came not to call the righteous but sinners and i think you know any any person who who just opens their heart turns their heart to the lord and delights in him brings delight to the lord the lord is thirsting for love he's thirsting for for our love and our delighting in him now just finished reading a book by father thomas dube the evidential power of beauty and it's all about delighting in the lord and one of the points he makes is he says normal people are filled with wonder if they go if they go for a walk they see the beauty of the trees and the flowers and the dogs and children laughing and it fills them with wonder they study physics and learn about the marvels of physics they study you know the the skies they study whatever and they're just filled with awe and wonder father thomas dubai says that's normal normal people are filled with wonder and awe they delight in god's wonders in his creation but he says jaded people they don't see what's in front of them and so we're commanded you to recommend it to see scripture says the pure of heart will see god and again a person who who's childlike sees the wonders the beauties of god all around even in the trials and and struggles and so this it's a biblical command and it's also the work of a lifetime you know it's easy to say we need to delight in the lord but sometimes it's not easy to delight in the lord but if you try if you're going through a rough patch and you say you know what i'm going to try to be grateful i'm going to try to see the blessings i'm gonna try to see god's goodness even in this situation i'm gonna try to see god and i'm gonna delight in him if we make that effort it's it's wonderful how quickly it cheers us up i recommend it give it a try the next time you're you're angry or frustrated or fearful anxious about something look around see what you can give thanks to the lord for what you can delight in him and again it's a biblical command if god commands us to do something it means the grace is there we can we can delight in the lord we can see him we can rejoice in the lord always as scripture says so let's pray lord open my eyes today to see you and to delight in you christ came to call sinners offering them salvation with humility of spirit aware of his call let us bring our prayers to the father that the church may be seen as the healing home of the weak and the sinful we pray to the lord lord hear that through the intercession of the blessed virgin mary may peace prevail among the nations of the world through the mercy that they show to one another we pray to the lord lord hear our prayer that unity may grow in our nation through the citizens respect for one another we pray to the lord lord hear us that at work and in our families we may not be fault-finders we pray to the lord lord hear our prayer that the dead may experience the saving power of god we pray to the lord lord hear our prayer we pray for the intention of today's mass for the repose of the soul of catherine keys offered by chriskies we pray to the lord lord hear our prayer father this lent the season of lent even as we seek righteousness keep us from self-righteousness as we look forward to the savior of mercy may we participate in his saving action by forgiving those who have sinned against us we ask this through christ our lord amen [Music] in conciliation and praise and grant that cleanse by its working we may offer minds well pleasing to you through christ our lord amen the lord be with you and with your spirit lift up your hearts we lift them up to the lord let us give thanks to the lord our god it is right and just it is truly right and just our duty and our salvation always and everywhere to give you thanks lord holy father almighty and eternal god through christ our lord for by your gracious gift each year your faithful await the sacred paschal feasts with the joy of minds made pure so that more eagerly intent on prayer and on the works of charity and participating in the mysteries by which they have been reborn they may be led to the faithful the fullness of grace that you bestow on your sons and daughters and so with angels and archangels with thrones and dominions and with all the hosts and powers of heaven we sing the hymn of your glory as without end we acclaim holy holy holy lord god of hosts heaven and earth are full of your glory hosanna in the highest blessed is he who comes in the name of the lord hosanna in the highest you are indeed holy o lord the fount of all holiness make holy therefore these gifts we pray by sending down your spirit upon them like the dewfall so that they may become for us the body and blood of our lord jesus christ at the time he was betrayed and entered willingly into his passion he took bread and giving thanks broke it and gave it to his disciples saying take this all of you and eat of it for this is my body which will be given up for you [Music] in a similar way when supper was ended he took the chalice and once more giving thanks he gave it to his disciples saying take this all of you and drink from it for this is the chalice of my blood the blood of the new and eternal covenant which will be poured out for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins do this in memory of me [Music] the mystery of faith save us savior of the world for by your cross and resurrection you have set us free therefore as we celebrate the memorial of his death and resurrection we offer you lord the bread of life and the chalice of salvation giving thanks that you have held us worthy to be in your presence and minister to you humbly we pray that partaking of the body and blood of christ we may be gathered into one by the holy spirit remember lord your church spread throughout the world and bring her to the fullness of charity together with francis our pope and marcel our bishop in all the clergy remember also our brothers and sisters who have fallen asleep in the hope of the resurrection and all who have died in your mercy welcome them into the light of your face have mercy on us all we pray that with the blessed virgin mary mother of god with blessed joseph her spouse with the blessed apostles and all the saints who have pleased you throughout the ages we may merit to be coheirs to eternal life and may praise and glorify you through your son jesus christ through him and with him and in him oh god almighty father in the unity of the holy spirit all glory and honor is yours forever and ever [Music] at the savior's command and formed by divine teaching we dare to say our father who art in heaven hallowed be thy name thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven and give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil deliver us lord we pray from every evil graciously grant peace in our days that by the help of your mercy we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our savior jesus christ for the kingdom the power and the glory are yours now and forever lord jesus christ you said to your apostles peace i leave you my peace i give you look not on our sins but on the faith of your church and graciously grant her peace and unity in accordance with your will who live and reign forever and ever amen the peace of the lord be with you always and with your spirit let us offer each other the sign of peace [Music] [Music] on your stay desire to receive you into my soul since i cannot at this moment receive you sacramentally come at least spiritually into my heart i embrace you as if you're already there and unite myself holy to you never permit me to be separated from you amen the archbishop is recommending that people who receive the holy eucharist on the tongue receive after the people who received in the hands so if you'd like to receive our lord on the tongue you can kindly come to the altar rail and i'll serve you once i've served the people who receive on the hand [Music] all these pieces broken and scattered in mercy gathered mended and whole empty handed but not forsaken i've been set free i've been set free amazing grace how sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me oh when once was lost but now i am someone doesn't feel worthy to delight in the lord and it's like the lord's responses but i delight in you i delight in you no matter how you feel what you think what lies you've believed i delight in you let us pray nourish by the gift of heavenly life we pray o lord that what remains for us as a mystery in this present life may be for us to help to reach eternity through christ our lord amen we're going to pray for a spirit and a grace of delight you're ready to receive that but you have to be children you have to receive the kingdom of god like children so hold your hands open as god's beautiful sons and daughters and receive his blessing the lord be with you with yourself bow down for the blessing father pour out upon your sons and daughters in whom you delight lord pour out upon them a spirit and a grace of delight or let them see your face shining upon them let them know lord by divine revelation the great love and mercy you have for them let them lord delight this whole day in you give them eyes to see or purify their hearts give them the hearts of children lord work this mighty grace you are the god of miracles lord make your children new through this blessing wash away all their sin through this blessing lord let this blessing and grace bring healing to all the sick in the name of jesus be healed but let this blessing bring freedom to the captives in the name of jesus be set free well let this blessing bring your special protection and may the blessing of almighty god descend upon you now the father the son and the holy spirit and remain with you forever amen mass has ended go in peace thanks be to god saint michael the archangel defend us in battle be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil may god rebuke him we humbly pray and do
