I bought the game on a whim at Gamestop many years ago, think it was $5-10 dollars. I had heard about it, but hadn't followed it that closely. I thought what the hell, let's see how bad this sucker is. Luckily, this was after the patch that fixed most if not all the major issues.
Frankly, it was pretty decent overall. The first episode was a mixed bag. The weapons were ok, but I really don't know how the devs could think robotic mosquitoes and frogs would make for interesting enemies.
Thankfully, the later episodes were all better from then on. Travelling to different times and locales around the world was done pretty well, and you would find weaponry that was relevant to the area you were in. Plus the music was really good too.
Overall, I enjoyed playing it. It wasn't amazing, but it wasn't terrible either. I think most of the game's bad reputation resulted from a combination of the game's questionable media before release, and just how underwhelming it was at release (it was QUITE buggy).
civvie is easily my favorite "new" youtuber. though i wonder how long he can keep up content if he mostly focuses on retro shooters or games that are like retro shooters
I've only heard the game is a massive train wreck but watching the video it seems like there are some salvageable and ambitious ideas there.
If you ditch the horrible visuals, get rid of exposition dumps, improve companion AI and level design, I could see a fan-made remake of one of the most infamous games in video game history that isn't terrible.
One-upping Romero would be quite the entry on your resume if you were trying to break into the industry.
Honestly, I'm a little surprised no one has tried it.
When is Romero gonna talk about that classic FPS project he said he was working on like 4 years ago or something ? Or did that turn out to be just that mobster Empire of Sin game that his wife is directing right now?
