This is Enshrouded
It's a new early access game that's like Pokemon with guns
but without the pokemon or the guns,
and today I'll show you how I broke
Enshrouded using only stone
So, let's start from the
beginning. I made a new character and a new world, and as everyone does,
I made sure to pay extremely close attention to the intricacies of the game's story.
I checked just how flammable my character was, before somehow not blowing myself
up in the tutorial section.
It doesn't take long until you get to explore...
uhh... the richly detailed world of embervale, and after only a bit of of scavenging
I'd got the stone I needed and more.
So, with just one stone you can
make the construction hammer.
The description calls it an archaic
building tool but as you'll soon see, this couldn't be further from the truth.
To use the hammer, it needs to be in the range of a flame altar which costs only 5
stone. At least at the start of the game, you can only have two active altars at
once, which is all i'm gonna need.
I could now wield the "construction" hammer
to effortlessly destroy terrain and quickly get myself a lot more store.
I ended up pretty getting carried away while doing this.
In fact, I'd got very carried away.
I'd ended up digging for a whole day and night,
yielding 3000 stone. This was probably enough for what I wanted to try and build.
When you use the construction hammer, you don't even have to worry about silly
things like structural integrity or gravity.
So, of course I wanted to find out just
how high you can build in this game. I started building a stone ramp until it
left the range of the flame altar.
Since I could have two flame altars active at the
same time, I placed a second altar at the top and removed the bottom one.
By repeating this process, I could climb higher and higher.
I was making good progress, and it felt like I had enough stone to build into orbit.
My biggest issue was that the ramp was quite steep and sometimes I would just lose
momentum and start running downhill.
I have to say, falling to your death
in this game is so unsatisfying, so when when it happens again (and it will)
I'll try to make it more exciting for ya.
Anyway, I respawned back at the flame
altar with only some of my items.
I went back to ground level to locate the
rest, and this was the most I actually played the game properly.
I even got myself to level 2, putting me in the elite top 95% of players.
It's also as far as I'm gonna get in this video, because eventually I went back up the
ramp and realised that my things had been waiting there for me the whole time.
My items would always respawn up here, meaning that I would never need to touch grass again, and
I could focus on building the ramp all through the evening, and then, into the nighttime.
I then decided to do something unheard of by making a corner in the ramp
and changing directions.
And I was still in disbelief of my own
creativity when tragedy struck....
Whenever I tried to place another piece
of the ramp it just wouldn't appear.
It seemed like I'd hit the limit
as to how high you could build.
However, my abnormally large brian noticed that
the game still seemed to be using my stone even when nothing was being built.
So I thought maybe the ramp was still there, but it was just invisible.
So, leave engagement, I mean, a comment below.
Did I A) land safely on the invisible ramp
or B) Fall very slowly to my death?
That's right! I couldn't believe it
worked. So I HAD to keep on building.
It was tough trying to place blocks without being
able to see them, but at least i found out that the flame altar was still visible.
All I could do was try my best to place a few ramps before making
a platform for the next altar.
The problem was this method wasn't
foolproof. And even getting back to my stuff was becoming a challenge.
Despite this, I persevered and made it a fair bit higher, even managing
to place a few more altars.
Eventually however, the ramp was
becoming too hard to navigate.
I was getting stuck between
invisible blocks and also falling through the many holes in the ramp.
After dying a few more times, I was kicked back to the game's start point for some reason.
It was at this point I decided I'd gone high enough and that it was time to
just enjoy the view for a while.
After my rest was over, I went back down to
where the ground was actually visible.
I wanted to see if I could build a bridge
to the large tower in the distance.
It was obviously a lot easier to
build horizontally, especially when you can actually see what you're doing.
As I got lazier, I went from making room for the altar on the side to just placing
it on the path itself. By morning I was approaching the tower when unforntunately the
game stopped me from building any closer.
I still had about half of my stone left,
so I decided to build a road to nowhere.
And, skipping ahead, here's what it
looked like, sped up so that you don't have to watch me run for 6 minutes.
I actually would've been able to reach the mountain, but I'd hit the edge of the area
that's currently playable in early access.
Now... the disappointing part.
I stopped playing here and thought about other things I wanted to try.
When I loaded back in, the game had only saved what was in range of the flame altar.
And yes, I checked to make sure that the path hadn't just become invisible.
It hadn't. Hopefully in the future there'll
be a way to save all terraforming, even when it gets ridiculous.
So I'll leave you with one final glitch. I tried to build while falling,
when my character did this animation and I again respawned in the starting vault.
I couldn't get back to my floating platform, meaning that I have to leave it here.
I think it's time I actually tried to, you know, play the game properly.
I reckon I'll really enjoy it, and fingers crossed, maybe I'll
even be able to get to level 3.
If you enjoyed this, I normally make videos about
Valheim, but I'll definitely cover Enshrouded and other survival games in the future.
So, let me know what you'd like to see.
I'm currently working on a massive Valheim
challenge video, but I've got a lot of other stuff to take care of before that'll be ready.
Anyway, thank you so much for watching. Cheers.
