AoE2 2v2 World Cup | China vs Vietnam | Semi Finals

Game one is Arabia the format of the toward man is quite simple whoever loses Game one gets to choose their home map from the map full game - and then you can't reuse civilizations throughout the whole set now these games were played live on Friday so I asked if there's no spoilers if you spoil don't be surprised if you get timed out or banned or something because I don't want the result spoiled here and then immediately after this at least on Twitch I will be casting the Norway vs. Finland set which will be live and so will get both the semi finals for this tournament out of the way t90 officials mic sounds a bit hot slight distortion I haven't heard anybody else anything so I think we're good we're gonna start the game off and we have mister yo for China he's playing as the Ethiopians in the red in the green we have licks licks is playing as Dee Frank's so strong civilisations there we have yo as is Archer save and then we have licks as his knight civilization already I don't know if you've noticed this but backed has been forward bhaktas in the orange he's playing on his 8 euro account and he's playing as the Aztecs he was trying to lane not successful yet but expect to see more of that throughout this series so Aztecs for him and then in the blue we have say my oh god we have say my name and he's playing a hesitate cuz oh boy oh boy I didn't prepare myself for this we have blue we have blue all right so - mezzo picks really interesting to me because as I said with with China SIVs they have a scout sieve and they have an art rusev it's interesting that we would see two mezzo picks here so I wonder if Vietnam will go forward it's possible they might go forward because they won't have the mobility without scout so I'm thinking maybe well I don't know what to think exactly but that would imply that they're going to do something different as they don't have any horse civilizations that also means that the only meses if that they would have remaining would be the Mayans throughout this whole best-of-seven so they're getting two out of the three measure saves out of the way right at the start now okay as far as lanes go blue has been able to seal some sheep nice job but I think that everybody else will have their resources Knoll aiming beyond that so I think with these civilizations Vietnam has to get a strong start they have to get a very strong start because otherwise if they're not winning this game early on it's gonna be very difficult for them to stop licks from running or all around them with Knights I'm thinking maybe and just maybe we could see back to go for address into a full wall fast castle he could go really heavy on gold and then maybe go for siege and monks as Aztecs it's an idea could work and then maybe say my name goes forward with towers and man-at-arms or something cuz forwards and team games it's not common it's it's because it's risky and you you oftentimes will be to be one but maybe it could work out when a caster says say my name you know it well at least in my community you know what's gonna happen so I I'm so used to calling players by their names but I really shouldn't say say my names name I think I will stick with the color throughout the series so well here comes the forward now this could be dangerous for licks but he's already building his stable so he's on his way to creating a few Scouts and okay so we have a forward from both the Vietnamese players Yeo is planning to go archers right oh he's going man-at-arms nice move and then archers behind that so this has to work for Vietnam if it doesn't work within the five first five to ten minutes if they don't gain advantages within that time they will probably fall way behind and yo sees this he spots it he's getting man-at-arms and he's fighting with his villagers so it's really hard to distinguish the difference between these two with red and orange but it seems like yo is a huge lead like already backed his lost one of his militia wait to do was a Ville now he lost a villager and he is weak villagers so this is a good start for you now on the other side we have the towers already on the way up for blue and these are good towers these are good towers and a strong start to these engagements as well and arms Lix forced to fight with villagers Lix has done decently well on his berries and his ville micro yeah he loses this scout as filmmakers okay but I love the two towers from Blu this tower already forced the defensive tower from Lakes and then this towers right on the wood line licks does not see that and even if he did he couldn't stop it and then on the other side we have towers going up from backed coming as no surprise to me and he will wall with his villagers and that should go up so I'd say back doesn't had that the best start here but the start for for Blu has been really really good and you know what licks doesn't have any other wood option he doesn't have any other wood option he can't go here he can't go here he could go further north but that's really far away so then she lays he chopped through these trees he'll need to leave his he'll be with him the towers range he can't take wood easily he can't take food easily from his berries so he can't make a lot of scouts and he only has two and one that's very weak all right well Bacchus has kind of trapped himself here and yo is waiting for these villagers to run yo could kill all three these villagers inside this tower so the sides are a bit imbalanced and another tower going up for Blu he thinks twice about it though because looks is already building a counter Tower fortunately for licks he has stone he will now relocate to wood something that blue might see expect because he is good scouting in the map he should know that that's the only what that looks has available okay and this is where it starts to get dicey for Vietnam because backs forward is its it's been pushed back for lack of a better word it's been pushed back he can't do any more damage beyond this so he is having some skirmishers from home which I like would counter any enemy archers but he's got to lose vales most likely he tries to wall in that villager that thought which was just gonna die he's doing a great job being stubborn but just not a great push and then you look at licks licks is finally stabilizing with its eco cuz he has his wood Hill had farms he has mobility with Scouts and then later on it would be with night so I think it's important for Vietnam they either continue to pressure or they protect themselves at home with a lot of walls even defensive towers in some situations not necessary now but could be something to think about and Wow okay some stubborn play from fact backed is walling in another villager and he wants to deny this wood line look at this okay so he goes for an additional tower yell if he gets an archer over there could deny that I think that the archer will get there just in time but then again backed has his squirms so alright he might be able to get that one up so I truly don't know what's the Eco like for likes 70 food he has three Scouts one of which is weak can maybe do damage with this well if yo tells him scurbs were here the scouts could go over to kill the scams that's one thing tower from blue on the wood line that licks needs nice wall from licks though licks will saved most of this wood line and the defensive towers already there so we should be okay so now what does Vietnam go for they probably go towards the castle H as fast as possible then eagles on both sides eagles would make sense from from backed he is a decent board position so perhaps he could consider monks and siege as I'd mentioned earlier backed my crows down one of Yas archers to of Yoos archers and this villager will just hang out in this tower until he can go back to work there but he might not be able to okay this is what they needed this is what they needed it the inclusion of scouts means that fact is in trouble again but he is fine at home and he has walvis base at home so he's he's untouchable and we'll see the same from say my name most likely and he's still trying to build towers look how stubborn he's being the funny thing about Vietnam and China is that they have virtual identical styles their strengths are normally with walls and towers they're very stubborn teams which makes them very successful in team games when things go wrong and man these towers have been strong I'm I'm not normally impressed with towers as you guys know but the placement on all the towers were blue it been good the repairs have been good I think Lix is more delayed than blue has been by repairing and building all these towers economically and Lix I doubt he'll be able to do any damage with his Scouts inside blues base because Blue has spearmen there but you know what if yo gets to castle age soon seems like he might clique up and he gets a force of crossbows and comes over to blues base blue will be destroyed so if he goes to back-to-back tests Kermes ready and back might be in Castle age but if he goes to blue blue has no answer right now and yo cooks up to Castle age first okay so the best player in China mr. yo starts off game one by defending well against the best player from Vietnam he definitely has the lead there in my opinion he will mix in crossbows he doesn't have a lot right now but he could also add TCS he's in a good place economically his resources are balanced and he has good defense so I would like to see him hit blue however boots on the way to Castle age I believe he will go Eagles right yeah second barracks going up still though if he's hit before he has a massive Eagles before he has Castle age upgrades yo scroll suppose could do damage that's what I'm thinking so looking at backs now he will probably click up to Castle age after his wheelbarrow upgrade finishes I hate that he chooses orange you know fun fact about backed he chooses orange and then in game he puts on team colors so he's blue and his allies yellow and then the enemies are red he does this so people can't see him he does as so enemies can't see him and that would that would include casters as well I can't see him so it kind of sucks sometimes on these Arabia maps it's it's easier on more Green Maps he streams his point of view and he always his team colors he's always in blue on his stream he does this intentionally I think a lot of players do that some players will choose gray as well so they can't be seen I think Rubens stock earlier or sorry later when we see him play for Finland's he'll be choosing gray another tower now for blue licks is on the way to Castle H where's mr. yo going with his army well mr. yo is playing defensively with his army right now so I'd say mission accomplished for Vietnam mission accomplished they did not get countered really at all and blue is in a position to make Eagles he doesn't have a lot of barracks though so he won't have many that could be a struggle then verse the nights that licks will make but backed has a a decent forward position I mean the towers give him kind of an area to launch from but now he's just has one tower and it's being shot down what's his play what's back to going for crossbows and scrum still okay I think we'll see a large boom now for Vietnam I think they will attack but I think though they'll try and add T C's more than anything t9 official what's the point of doing that if pro opponents also choose team colors well they don't always that's a thing they don't I mean it's just it's just something that backed has done for years and years and years so this is the danger I mentioned it yos hear a bit later than I wanted him to be but he's sending crossbows immediately to blue and blue doesn't have a lot of eco warriors he doesn't have a lot of upgrades yet it's a big concern for him there because if especially if yo loops around you see yo now he's looping around look he's going a long way he could find villager picks oh yeah on the TC that's going up thinking the stone or the wood and there's tc's going up in both areas this TC is already there this CC will likely be denied unfortunately since blue is incas we'll have a little bit more armour on these villagers but he should still lose them with the O's micro and you see how yo is not attacked he waited a little bit he got closer to the Vil's that way if blue runs away he'll be able to get a few more shots in he could have waited a little bit more for sure but he kills two villagers and denies the TC that's quite a big deal the mystery he'll has the most fills in the game is the most military in the game he's the fastest firing crossbows available in game and he's going to get more kills here as well really strong start from mr. yo this game honestly licks did decent job it wasn't a great job though he's doing all right in his won't be one but yo is doing an excellent job and you always killed a total of four villagers already and he's delayed blues TC so this is really a team game for you if your inbox position and you're no longer threatening your guy and you have full walls then your guy is going to hit your ally this is what you have to expect here blue did not expect it in fact with just elite skirmisher whoa that's not enough I don't think five scrimmage is gonna be enough he'll go for a trade they'll hope and pray that three skirmishers can kill a few more crossbows but I think that'll be the end of it credit to backed he does come to help loose ends eagles over here so now this will probably be the end of Yoos push yo jumps into the ponds but the skirmishers will still kill him and now licks is sending his Knights over towards backed because backed has does scurbs right so i think that choosing to meso saves and one game is a gamble they needed to have even more success with their push and early futile age to for me to really like it full Knights now versus full eagles well there Frank Knights they should trade well versus Eagles that should trade well versus the scrum slicks should be able to kill everything right now that's out the map and if he doesn't like to fight he can just run away from it that's the beauty of having Knights and that's a disadvantage of Mississippi's and normally if you have your mezzo going archers it's fine because archers are always going to be slow but you need something that replaces the knight and in this case it's Eagle warriors but it's worse than tonight so here come the crossbows here come the Knights and back should have no answer to this okay so he has the siege works up in a monastery this isn't a very good sign still but it's something he could get conversions with the monks he could get mad canal shots landed but at the end of the day his eCos Idol and he has no control over his opponent also crossbows could pick off those monks but there's a chance baptists is trying to get to the imperial age I imagine to go into a li Eagle or something it has to be that and I think that say my name needs to get used say my name has his Eagles at home I in China's position because they have military control but there is a moment in time if you get two Eagles and pikemen where you can destroy the Knights and if the cross was aren't there to work well for you also early in the Eagles can be very strong it's easier to click up to the Imperioli tool-making Eagles than it is when making mass nights because Knights have a very heavy food cost okay a decent moment there for blue he kills a few nights he almost gets conversion but now he needs an answer with his Mac and L and just remember the villager count is not the whole story it's the efficiency of it and old backs on the way to imp really okay well if he goes directly to mr. yo with the lead eagles yo could die to that there is a chance here now meanwhile blue is just getting rekt to v1 his very little response to this he's losing a lot of villagers it's not ideal for him but fact is on the way to him I want to look at his base to see what he's making you just have to give me a moment to finish off this fight I like it from Lex great job to kill the maggot a light blue is done okay considering considering its 1v2 he's done okay I think he'll be able to hold let's see what is and licks has come forward with a castle on blue I like it they're all ready to be wanting blue they know that backs might be on the way to imps and need to take this time to take more advantages and that's exactly what they go for it back to gets two conversions with his monks and blue will probably complete the TC but I don't see him being able to collect that gold for much longer also blues been making mainly Eagle warriors so this is a rare time to maybe see the throwing axe men come out from licks and he's doing that and then yo still on the way to hit blue yep back to needs to kill yo he's to kill yell at illegals if he doesn't then his ally probably dies it's as simple as that I like the forecastle iflix built that castle more defensively I think that blue would have had some time situation for China then because blue will be making Eagles against Knights and throwing Axman and then back to will be making Eagles against shota warriors shotel warriors have 16 base attack and these Eagles are ante Archer you can still pick off fills for Karthus what they're fighting against but the benefit of Eagles is their pierce armor and there's the signal from you always like hey you got some Eagles going to your wood line be careful Lakes and this is where licks could use a castle or two at home right because those those villagers disappeared pretty quickly and one or two knights is not going to cut it either don't tell me that's blues empty sea well that's his empty seats at 99% he just gets to the Imperial age fortunately blues just losing so much at the moment and I don't think that back to will be able to continue to raid China I think that if anything yo will push him the show tell where your upgrades are coming in the show tells are fast enough to chase down these though I think that backed is probably dead I don't see anything stopping mr. yellow at the moment mr. egos getting coinage to sling resources to licks probably so you can get cavalier and paladin 130 fought pop for blue so maybe since he stabilized he can go kami Oaks it could possibly mix in slingers against the show tells but swingers are not very mobile and swingers can be easily countered by the cavalier that licks will be making so I just think back to needed to do more vers licks licks will be just fine in the end and backed has no answer ^ yo yo has four castles 130 kills 83 deaths 200 population the guy's a beast the guy is insanely good he had insanely good defense and fuel age he'd insanely good attacks in council age and a great boom and now an MP's bringing this home for his team and I think the China's gonna take Game one it's just a matter of time now cuz y'all can kill everything that Vietnam is making and this is all before licks gets to the Imperial agent gets Cavalier and maybe that's why Vietnam still trying maybe they realized that show us best build his fifth castle here maybe they realized that some flicks is in cast leaves they have a bit of more of a chance but now they season him and I believe we will see the sling yep a little bit of sling a little bit of a food boost going to licks from yo just so we can research cavalier and he won't even get there GG man so blue did a good job but this is actually a good example of why forwards fall off in team games team games are more about momentum than one view ones are like the strategy to go Towers leaves you with very little military momentum and I think the best example here was blue his tower rush was strong but then he didn't have military units and he tried tried detecting two Eagles but he was always behind and yo for example he made archers from the get-go and he kept those archers alive and was able to do damage in multiple areas with them and so I think maybe if fact would have had more success for his yellow than yo wouldn't have been able to create units right but I think that it's a risky strategy for a team game and perhaps a sign that Vietnam is not very confident versus China because it's not typical for a to be - especially when you get free pick to go with to measure sibs at the start why not save Aztecs specifically why not save Aztecs to play alongside Franks or slabs or something in some of these later maps I don't know and and maybe on a later map where you could justify walling up more you could go with monks and seeds with Aztecs I was not very convinced still considering the strategy was kind of bad I think that the implementation of it was with decent considering they still got to the Imperial Asian it was a 47 minute game okay so this recorded game this happened twice now the recorded games seem to be crashing for me so unfortunately the achievements are not loading up so we could cast the game which was good but I can't bring you the achievements I apologize for that guys it just like crashed on me so I'm fairly certain this whole pod will be going to YouTube YouTube I'm just going to take some time because this was streamed to guys Finland tower rushed in a game versus eventually Finland won the game and then there was still one game remaining in the set because it was only two-to-one in the best-of-five but France surrendered like they didn't they didn't actually surrender they they just quit like they didn't want to play the rest of the games like the memes right themselves like I love I love the French players but like the jokes always when if france surrenders like everyone's always making that joke and then france literally surrendered like there was still they still could have fought back and they just said no I didn't like the towers I'm done so I don't know I thought that was kind of funny I'm sure they didn't think it was very funny but III thought it was comical because of the memes but genuinely I do think that we could see a tower rush a liquid tower rush batters way through the walls or tower hop or something and then maybe sling yo as Mayans you could always just boom you don't need to go for any funky towers with Koreans on Reena the issue with the Korean civilization on open maps is that they don't have any eco bonuses they don't have a lot of options early so they tend to just die but on a map like Reena when you have stone walls you could boom up and it's one of the strongest late-game sibs available with their there see geometers their bombard cannons and their war wagons so I guess we'll find out soon enough Mayans of course probably going to be plumed arches they do have the flexibility to go Eagles but probably plumes and then we have Spanish for fact now since this is a wreck this was just played the other day I'm actually gonna speed through the Dark Age just because I don't want to miss the live games between Norway and Finland today but the orange playing as the italians Berbers is a really odd pick here why not choose Japanese why not choose Malians like teams have been doing I don't know but I bet you we're gonna see a landing landing seems to be the best strat in 2v2 in the ecl it was was it frantic or was it sy I don't know one of the Chinese teams beat secret they destroyed secret it was it was incredible it was a viper and slam at the time with the landing then we saw frantic verse sy or china a verse china be in this tournament on islands they both went for landings that game was incredible imagine if you're new to the stream right now and you're coming in from youtube you probably saw some of these because they were uploaded to youtube so the point is is that landing in the center of players seems to be what the chinese players like to do and maybe vietnam will do the same I'm still not sure on how to counter that because if you think back to Brazil vs. China it was game 5 and there was landing and reott spotted the landing immediately he forced the villagers to reposition he delayed the stables he even killed some units there but China still ended up winning so the idea here and watch them not even transport like I'm gonna explain this whole thing they're not gonna transport but the idea behind the transport is this you have one player if sy does it no probably be Lex you have licks land and he lands right here in between the two enemy players now the enemy team might be thinking about water because it's island so they build up their whole eco their whole build order towards going on water and then they have this pesky guy in the center of them making units and attacking them all and so if licks were to go with something like Scouts for example that would mean that both of the enemy players on this land area or this island would have to make spearmen or would have to wall or would have to consider making their own Scouts or making their own archers so it essentially delays both enemy players and when this happens mr. yo will have a field day with the free boom he can do whatever he wants he can win water he could add T C's he's just safe so I think that's why the strategy works and that's why I don't think you can necessarily beat the strategy because you can't stop the transport from happening you can only spot it transports can be created in Dark Age so yeah I don't know I think that is yet to be decided we don't see 2 V 2 Islands too often so I think over the course of the next year or two a meta will really evolve for it but I've seen landings work almost every time and I I personally think that the best way to beat the landing strat is to do the exact same thing so we'll see now so something to point out is licks is Japanese so his fishing ships are really tanky they have that armor so that's a really nice bonus to have if you are not going to be defending yourself on water your fishing ships will survive longer which means more food coming into you Lix has docked on the front you see the dock on the front for backt he's italians for his team and look they must expect this or already look at that they're already walling up so they prepared have really unfortunate gold for back to tho geez dad that is one of the most unfortunate Gold's I've seen actually because you'd have to I guess you could wall the pond it's fine but yet back to will most likely go all in on water for his team it's clicked up quite early here do we see any transports yes we got a baby we got it licks is building the transport RK now let's see what is what is right up to red is also transporting yes amazing okay so I think that this is the correct approach from both teams go with the Dark Age transport if they're gonna transport you transport them so pretty soon this I don't think back to seeing this either this is so cool this is so cool and I think backs will be pretty surprised he's long this up because he expects there to be a landing but landing in the World Cup my friends you alright ladies and gentlemen welcome to game number four between China and Vietnam this is a game that Vietnam really needs to win I think if you fall behind three two one and a best-of-seven it is very unlikely that you'll ever be able to bring that back and win so many games in a row so the first two games went to China a Vietnam is hoping that the next two games will go to them this is game number four and we have team Acropolis now this this version of team Acropolis is slightly different from what you might have seen in the past I'll touch on that in a second but let's introduce the players we have Berbers for yo he's in the red and we have Spanish for Lix he's in the green that's for China for Vietnam we have Mayans for backed and then we have blue who's playing as the Franks Mayans and Franks a very strong combo they have their archers and they have their their Knights it's a combo you see often Berbers and spanish is a bit different if they get to their unique units this would be an interesting one a Berbers and spanish of course can go for their unique units or they can go for Knights a berber could even go for camels so there there are options there team Acropolis is there's quite a fun map I think so when you're on a hill and Age of Empires 2 you actually do more damage so let's say yo had archers here and he was firing downhill against blues units he would do 25% more damage and then any damage output from blue he would do or I guess red would receive or yo would receive 25% less so there's a 50% difference which is kind of huge and the bases are set up so you have that defender's advantage here however while you're on your Hill you don't have a lot of resources you don't have a lot of wood specifically on this hill so going to the back is important I like China's map a lot more because they actually have wood line options in the back they can t see that I mean while you look at Vietnam they don't have any wood behind they have to go to the sides so that's where you'll see players scouting and sometimes you'll see players placing their lumber camp there and at the beginning so that will be the focus and then of course there's the goals to focus on Mel fat but that's what I expect I wonder how Spanish is gonna be played we'll Lex go with a tower rush wouldn't surprise me tower rush into a fuel age eco boom into conquistadors I guess could go man-at-arms towers it's quite easy to have success with tower rushes also something you see a lot in in 3 v 3s and 4 V force on this is a lot of walls believe it or not so the walls are already beginning for licks maybe he just tries fast castle and even yo walling up you need a lot of walls contained a lot of walls but teams could pull it off now you can't wall here so you can wall your hill but you cannot wall from your outer wood line to the hill so if this was a different terrain you could maybe all up the hill but you can't do that so the wood villagers him there's no way that backed is making plumed archers without fletching by the way the sling to the Mayans thing into Eagles and the 4v4 a killed secret so it worked if you missed that siege well I should probably introduce the map there's got to be someone out there who's confused by this as you can see there's a lot of shore fish this is a nomad style map so you start without a town center and then you have to place it where you see fit and then you use the shore fish for food and you might be thinking t90 these nets are are moving awfully slow why are they going Shore fish instead of this tasty bore well I'm glad you asked haha sure fish that just gave me deja vu right there I probably said this a million times villagers collecting Shore fish is the third fastest food source in the game villagers collecting boar is actually slower now Indian villagers collecting shore fish is the fastest food source in the game because they have this bonus which is another one of their little Opie bonuses it's situational the fishermen were 15% faster and carry +15 food so that means it's ridiculous you can up the futile age with 15 population it's nots so that yo can be very aggressive first acc em with that fast-food income and then we could see the same from backed if he knows that that licks is here Chinese they start with six bills so naturally they'll build their TC faster they'll have a few more villagers which is why the Chinese is chosen but they don't have any direct bonus towards the shore fish and if you're wondering what the second-fastest food income is it's Mangal hunt now there's no Mongols here and there's not a lot of hunt so it wouldn't make sense to have Mongols I know you guys have probably heard this explanation a lot the meme is that dave
