Baldur's Gate 3 features many  mechanics that, once mastered,   can greatly enhance your gaming experience. So, today, I have prepared a list of 65   advanced tips to help you understand  and utilize these mechanics efficiently.  This is Aming4Gaming, and today  we're aiming for advanced gaming! Consider using hirelings as temporary casters  in your party. They can provide valuable buffs   that last until a long rest. This strategy  allows you to conserve your spell slots   while enjoying significant bonuses. Multiclassed spells are determined by   your character's total spellcasting level, rather  than their individual class levels. For instance,   if you multiclass your druid into a  wizard for one level at character level 3,   you'll gain access to level 2 spell slots and  can learn spells like "Detect Thoughts" as if you   were a level 3 wizard. Note that some classes are  classified as half-casters or one-third casters.  Warlock offers unique multiclassing advantages,  allowing you to level up your spellcaster and   then multiclass into Warlock for just one  level. This grants separate pact magic slots   and the "Eldritch Blast" spell in addition to  your original spell slots. This opens the door   to creating a versatile character class, albeit at  the cost of missing out on level 12 class bonuses.  Feel free to assemble an entirely custom  party to create something truly unique.   A guide on how to accomplish this  can be found in the comments section.  Hold down the Alt key to highlight items and  certain interactions on your screen. Although not   everything will be highlighted, many important  elements will become much easier to find.  The "T" key can be a game-changer. Instead  of clicking through multiple menus to examine   enemies, you can simply press "T" on a highlighted  enemy to get the necessary information. This   shortcut saves you a significant amount of time. Activate turn-based mode by pressing Shift-Space   or using the button on the UI. This allows  for creative maneuvers, like barrel tricks,   or keeping up with NPCs when they run away. Keep an eye out for traps that activate   after a delay. You might have enough  time to grab loot and escape before   they trigger. Some traps can be disarmed or  activated by shooting them from a distance.  Be cautious when looting dead bodies, as looting  some of them is treated as stealing. To identify   these, check if the name is displayed  in yellow and the looting icon is red.  In areas with multiple corpses, unlooted bodies  will be marked with an asterisk ("*"). This helps   you keep track of what you've yet to loot. There's no need to use the character with   the key to open a door. The game  will automatically transfer the   key to the relevant character when needed. Make sure to have a shovel in your inventory.   There are buried treasures scattered  across the map waiting to be discovered.  Don't underestimate the power of jumping.  Utilize jumps to find secret passages   and hidden loot. Additionally, consider  using spells that extend jump distance.  To move the item you found to a different  character, drag and drop the item onto   the desired character's portrait. Whenever possible, equip a shield on   characters who are capable of wielding one  and also possess a non-two-handed weapon.   The added defense is usually well worth it. If your character is proficient in heavy armor,   consider lowering their Dexterity to 10  or 12. Heavy armor doesn't benefit from   Dexterity's AC boost, so the biggest effect  on your character will be the initiative,   which is less efficient than extra stats you need. In the early game, the Mage Armor spell might   provide better overall benefits than  light armor, granting you higher total AC.  Keep a torch in your character's inventory and  toggle it on when needed. This proves invaluable   in dark areas where visibility is compromised. If you learn the skill of dual-wielding hand   crossbows, you can utilize a crossbow  attack as a bonus action. This tactic is   particularly effective for characters whose  bonus actions would otherwise go to waste.  Click on an armor slot to reveal all  possible items your character can equip,   including inventories of your entire party. Numerous storage options are available for   organizing items such as backpacks, keychains,  and pouches. This method also applies to keeping   barrels for barrelmancy tricks neatly stowed away! Remember that your inventory is shared among all   party members. This means you can  utilize scrolls or drag potions   from companions even during battles. When encumbered, transfer the heaviest   items to your camp to free up space. If necessary,  you can access them in your chest when required.  Reorder items based on weight to  easily identify the heaviest ones.  Camp supplies are only necessary at camp,  so send them there immediately to reduce   the weight burden in your inventory. Corpses hold value for necromancers.   Store them in your traveler's chest to keep these  resources available for your magical endeavors.  Gain an advantage by stacking three crates and  standing atop them. This tactic proves especially   beneficial for ranged attacks and spells. By the way, hitting the like button on this   video might give you an advantage as well, as it  inspires me to create even more videos for you!  Employ crates as temporary cover  to initiate battles unexpectedly   while staying out of sight from opponents. Strategically use crates to block your enemies'   paths, granting you a significant  advantage in the heat of battle.  Leverage push mechanics to your advantage.  Shove enemies to their doom for falling   damage or create space by pushing them  away, removing spellcasting disadvantages.  Jumping not only helps you reach new areas but  also extends your movement range on your turn.  Use the "Dip" action to coat your weapon  with nearby surfaces like fire or acid,   dealing additional damage to enemies. Instead of selling candles, place one   on the ground, light it, and use the  free fire to enhance your weapon.  Consider using weapons your  characters are proficient with,   as this unlocks various skills that  can be employed after a short rest.  Warlocks' pact weapon also  offers proficiency to any weapon.  As weapon skills and Warlock spells reset  after a short rest, don't forget to employ   them between battles for maximum effectiveness. Summoning can effectively absorb damage for   you. Utilize options like war clerics  spiritual weapons or druids elementals.  Heal multiple allies by throwing a potion  between them. This method also applies   to buffs from potions. Prior to combat, assess   your surroundings for potential advantages.  Environmental features can be key to victory.  Activate group hide mode to prepare a  calculated surprise attack. This not   only grants advantage but also makes your foes  surprised, robbing them of their first turn.  Divide your team and initiate combat with one  character, then switch to others. This allows   for controlled movement and targeted  engagement without initiative checks.  After a ranged attack, switch to a melee  weapon to enable an opportunity attack,   a maneuver unavailable to ranged weapons. Water possesses great utility, capable of washing   away other liquids on the floor like poison. Adjust prepared spells outside of combat,   particularly useful when transitioning between  utility spells like "Speak with Animals"   or "Mage Armor" for exploration  and more combat-focused spells.  Spells like "Speak with Animals," "Speak  with Dead," and "Detect Thoughts" wield   considerable exploration power. Talk to  rats, squirrels, and the dead to uncover   hidden secrets or delve into others' thoughts. Employ the Disguise Self spell prior to initiating   dialogue with characters you've killed. This way  they won't recognize you and become more friendly.  Some concentration spells can be cast more  than once without expending spell slots. Be   sure to use the correct button, usually found on  the right panel, to avoid wasting spell slots.  Employ items that grant specific spells for  efficient use, as they don't consume spell   slots. For instance, an amulet allowing  "Speak with Dead" once per long rest.  The Disguise Self spell permits you to transform  into smaller races like gnomes to navigate   tight spaces. You can also morph into beasts or  adjust your size using the Enlarge/Reduce spell.  Be friendly to Scratch - and someday  you'll learn the "Find Familiar:   Scratch" spell. This spell summons Scratch  familiar which can help you in locating treasures.  Beastmasters can summon spiders  proficient in creating flammable webs,   offering an additional source of fire damage. The Mage Hand cantrip proves useful for throwing   items like javelins lying on the ground,  providing free ranged damage potential.  Keep in mind that Paladin auras require  manual activation. Ensure they're turned   back on if they deactivate upon going unconscious. Utilize the Bard's "Perform" ability to attract   NPCs and facilitate pickpocketing or stealing,  allowing you to obtain desired items unnoticed.  If you're aiming for city-wide mayhem,  use your Bard's song to gather NPCs,   initiate turn-based mode, leap away, and  unleash a fiery attack to devastate the area.  Traders offer discounts based on their  relationship with the character who   starts the dialogue. This doesn't change if you  switch characters mid-trade, so employ your most   charismatic companion for better prices. Save all your ingredients, especially hyena ears,   as they are crucial for crafting potent potions  like the Potion of Speed, one of the game's best.  Expedite selling by adding items to wares for bulk  transactions. Multi-select items using shift-click   and ctrl-click for even greater efficiency. Vendors periodically refresh their inventories.   If you can't sell all your items due to their  limited funds, return later to complete the sale.  Don't hesitate to sell gems, as there's  no crafting mechanism tied to them.  Pickpocketing NPCs can unveil  hidden secrets, grant access to   locked doors, and offer various advantages. Toggle on non-lethal damage when confronted,   sparing your target's life while still defending  yourself and avoiding unnecessary bloodshed.  The "Karmic Dice" option is enabled by  default and impacts the likelihood of   consecutive good or bad rolls. If you seek more  randomness in the game, consider disabling it.  You can modify the game's difficulty  at any moment, even during battles.   This option can significantly alleviate  the challenge during tough encounters.
