Why Wizard Multiclassing is Broken in Baldur's Gate 3

multi-classing as a wizard still lets you learn spells up to the maximum spell slot that you have currently for your character so let me show you what I mean I currently have Gail at level 10. okay so his maximum current spell level is five if I got to level 11 that would be six if it does thou require a new so again she is with us and I'm gonna take maybe my first level in Wizard and the details don't really matter too much here and then when I level up if I pick character classes that are full casters the full casters are bards clerics Birds Sorcerers and Wizards World Cup was class into wizard let's just say caloric and let's say I want to be a yeah Tempest domain clerical water main cleric although girl probably would be a knowledge domain but whatever and then I'm Gonna Keep On leveling up in cleric I'm Gonna Leave wizard alone and I'm probably gonna speed this up for the video so now you'll notice I have two tabs at the top cleric and Wizard and in the Wizard tab I've still got all of these spells which I've learned from Scrolls from Gail and and on top of that I can't learn all of these which maybe I learned when leveling up previously so now I've got access to level five or one level five wizard spell level four wizard spells and so on now one thing to bear in mind is the number of wizard spells that you can prepare is equal to your wizard level which in this case is one it says level one here plus your intelligence modifier which for Gail is currently plus four now I will say at the moment my cleric spells probably won't do so well because my wisdom is only 12 so my spell safe DC is well it's only 15. see what you can do [Music] what kind of let's say I wanted to be a cleric still and let's just leave that for the sake of the video that's I know it's bigger cleric you need a high wisdom and again let's just leave this as this is now I'm going to take one level in Wizards the details here aren't too important but I would advise that you do pick ritual spells always a good choice I think those are all the ritual spells we currently have for the wizard right geode now I'm going to continue leveling up in cleric it's in the Wizard spell list I can prepare one spell that looks pretty bad because well it is that some of you may know that we have this warped headband of intellect which comes from the blighted village early on in the game it's in act one and now I can prepare Force battles because my intelligence is now 17 so the ability modifier is plus three and I can switch spells in and out which spells you want are obviously up to you and I can learn all of these spells just to give myself more options so maybe Shield is always going to be good no matter what character you're playing and I don't know just some random spells right so this is very different to fifth edition in fifth edition if I had a level one wizard I'd only be able to learn level 1 spells I could use the high level spell slots that's okay I could only learn at level one spells I can't tell you whether this is an intentional change or if it's a bug something that will be changed in the future I can't read larion's minds I've got no way of knowing but it is a little bit broken that we can have high level wizard spells and high level cleric spells or I mean you can use any class you want all right maybe a source was a great idea because then you can apply metamagic to any of these high-level spells Sorcerers and wizards often have quite similar spell lists the drawback to Sorcerers is they only know a limited number of spells but with this you can add four basically more four more spells with a massive variety of spells because something that makes Wizards great is their versatility they learn so many different spells maybe you just want to play a bar that has access to more spells or a druid something whatever you know you choose I'm just pointing out that this is out there it's kind of broken slightly overpowered use it at your leisure at your risk and maybe it will change in the future who knows anyway that's it for me thank you very much for watching please do consider subscribing and hopefully I will see you in the next one
