okay welcome back i'm robert breaker missionary evangelist and spanish and english-speaking people last week i did a sermon entitled so you think you can lose it huh so you really think you can lose your salvation and i showed you verse after verse after verse after verse after verse from the scriptures of what salvation is and how it's eternal life and how it's uh a gift of god and how we're saved through christ and what he did his redemptive work we are his purchased possession he purchases us through the blood that he shed on the cross and as far as i know god has never asked for a refund okay god purchases your soul the bible says it's his purchased possession your soul belongs to him when you are saved according to the bible so i believe in once saved always saved and i'll always believe that because that's what the bible teaches and i went out of my way last week to talk about that and to show you so many verses on how once you're saved you are sealed with the holy spirit of promise you become a son and all these things and how it's impossible to lose your salvation but there are some things you can lose and we'll talk a little bit about that today what can you lose well you can't lose salvation it's a free gift thank god but you can lose some other things and we'll look at those toward the end of this message but i knew that by leaving the comments open there would be those people that disagree and i wanted that i welcome that and i was looking forward to them saying no i don't believe that i don't believe that and them giving their comments and what i was hoping is that they would give certain verses that they always give because i was going to talk about that this week and sure enough they did not disappoint those people that don't believe in eternal security that don't believe and once saved always save that don't the best way to explain it is they don't believe the bible because the bible does teach once they always say those people have given you what they think and it's very weak what they've given what they did is they gave some verses and they said well this verse says this and i believe well all right let's look at that all right i believe in looking at the other side so let's look at what they say let's look at the verses they give and let's see if they have a leg to stand on because i showed you last week what the bible says so let's get started today in john chapter 5 john chapter 5 verse 39 and 40. and i want to go to the scriptures and i want to give you their side okay i want to give you the verses that they claim are the verses that say you can lose it and that's why this today is entitled verses people use to say you can lose it and what i'm going to show you is the context and the time period and to whom and when and what dispensation those are written because often if not always they twist them out of context there's a lot of verses in the bible that people twist out of context here's what people do the people that don't believe in sound doctrine many of your false denominations they look at the bible like a buffet table okay we have a buffet here in pensacola called chow time and some of our friends love to go to chow time and eat at the chinese buffet chow time by the way our friends in louisiana take us there every time they come and visit love you guys appreciate you for taking us out last time that was a blessing so there's this buffet in town that a lot of people like to go to when you go to buffet what do you do you go i'll have a little bit of this oh look over there i'll take a little bit of that and oh look over there there's some and at a buffet you just pick and you choose you take a little here a little there a little here little hair that is not how we form our doctrine as christians we don't go to the bible as a buffet table and go well i like this verse way over here i'll take a little bit of that oh there's a verse over here well i'm gonna take it you can't do that because all of the bible is written for us but not all of the bible is written to us there's dispensations there's different time periods there's different people that god is speaking to in the bible and some of the things written in the old testament don't apply to us today and some of the stuff in the future like over here in the millennium that's not for us today we are here let me go ahead and write that up here where we are today we are here we are right before the rapture and we are on the end of the church age so we are here so we are in that time period and so there's lots of stuff in the bible that when we read we have to rightly divide okay so that's why last time i told you go to second timothy 2 15 and how important it is to rightly divide the word of truth all right so let's go to john chapter 5 and verse 39 john 5 39 says this search the scriptures this is jesus speaking okay you don't just go to the bible like a buffet table and say i like this verse over here and i like that verse no you're supposed to search it you're supposed to read it you're supposed to study you're supposed to go through it all in context not just take some here some there some here something you have to always follow the context search the scriptures for in them you think you have eternal life and they are they which testify of me so jesus is speaking to the pharisees the lost religious people of his day he says you better search the scriptures because they tell you how to have eternal life and they testify me which jesus but then jesus says in verse 40 and you will not come to me that you might have life a rebuke jesus says but you won't come to me for eternal life you don't want eternal life you don't care about eternal life do you otherwise you'd come to me and you'd listen to what i say and what jesus said we saw last week is when you're saved you get eternal life now that's important the definition of words are important i believe in the definition of words and so that's why last week i went to passages of scripture and i showed you in the bible that salvation according to jesus is eternal life now what does eternal mean let's look i forgot to do this last week so we'll do it this week this is the definition of the word eternal from the 1828 webster's dictionary eternal all right what does eternal mean without beginning or end of existence it means everlasting endless it means perpetual ceaseless continued without intermission that means it can't end it's unchangeable without change so when you receive the free gift of eternal life which is eternal life eternal life means it can't change so it means it can't be lost because it can't change it's unchangeable so all these people are running around saying you can lose your salvation you can lose your salvation they don't even know the definition of the word eternal otherwise they would say no according to the definition eternal means can't change can't lose it so that's the first thing i want to say okay is you've got to go by the bible but you've also got to understand the definition of terms and the word eternal means unchangeable you can't lose it can't lose salvation because salvation is eternal life and i just think it's so sad that people don't get it they want to believe that salvation is something that you have a part in that you get or you keep by your works and that you can lose based upon what you do so the blood of jesus to those people is not powerful enough to cleanse us from all sins they think that they have to do something to be safe or to keep their salvation that is blasphemy because that's saying that jesus didn't do enough and it's saying that eternal life is not eternal life it's not unchangeable it is changeable okay so you're not only going against the scripture you're changing the definition of words that's how cults get started and so you got to watch out for people that are against osas once saved always saved is eternal life and once you get eternal life based upon faith not works then you can't lose it because it's a free gift of something that's unchangeable it's life for all eternity okay so but i want to do this today i want to give you the verses that people give in which they say no no you're wrong mr breaker well let me show you some verses that say you can lose it oh okay i showed you last week all the verses that say you can't lose it now you're going to try to show me verses that say you can and you know what there are some but they're not for this time and that's what i'm going to show you how they always see there are a thing called dispensations in the bible and today people attack the doctrine of dispensations they all know there's no such thing as dispensations what darby invented that and you go really in the 1800s darby maybe you should get the book dispensations before darby because many people believe in dispensations before darby matter of fact the word dispensation appears four times in the bible so there are dispensations there are different time periods in the bible and that's what you've got to understand so the bible tells us in second timothy 2 15 study to show thyself approved unto god a workman that needed not to be ashamed rightly dividing the word of truth so there are some divisions in the bible that you need to make and you to make the right divisions rightly dividing do you do that whenever people go to these verses that appear to teach that you can lose your salvation they're not rightly dividing they're they're getting it from a different dispensation a different context a different time period and they're twisting it so let me show you some of the examples okay but first of all we got to understand rightly dividing the first thing you see when you go to the bible is you see that there's two different sections in the bible there's the old testament and there's the new testament so the bible is set up in such a way that there are divisions matter of fact you go to the first chapter book of genesis god divided the light from the darkness god divided the day from the night god divided the water from god is a god of division okay and so god wants you to understand that things are to be divided there's right and there's wrong there's woman there's man there's good there's bad the world today doesn't want division they want to blur the lines and make everything the same that's the very definition of insanity no things that are different are not the same and so there's differences but the world doesn't want you to understand differences and see things for what they are as different that doesn't necessarily make them bad just because a man and a woman is different doesn't mean a man's better than a woman or a woman is better than a man no it's they're different and they should always remain different male and female created he them god said but the world today says no no they're transgender fluid and they can change and all they're trying to do is blur the lines well that's what modern christianity does by following the world is they blur the lines they don't rightly divide and so we need to rightly divide so here i'm just going to give you verses that people use today in which they try to say you can lose it one of them is ezekiel 18. all right let's go to ezekiel 18. and i believe if i remember correctly this was one that someone put in the comments and said oh mr breaker you believe that you can't lose your salvation what you need to read this verse and i'm like i've read that verse before many times you need to remember and you need to rightly divide who that verse is written to because it ain't me and it ain't you okay but in ezekiel 18 verse 24 it says but when the righteous turneth away from his righteousness and committeth iniquity and doeth according to all the abominations that the wicked man doeth shall he live all his righteousness that he had done shall be mentioned in his trespass that he had trespassed and in his sin that he has sinned in them shall he die yet he say the way of the lord is not equal here now o house of israel is not my way equal or not my ways unequal when a righteous man turneth away from his righteousness and committeth iniquity and dieth in them for his iniquity that he hath done shall he die again when the wicked man turns away from his wickedness that he have committed and do it that which is lawful and right he shall save his soul alive and i can continue there but i'll stop there in verse 27. so look at what it says if you do wrong then you'll die if you do right then you'll live and and they say see so it's dependent on no no no when was that written right here that's before jesus died and it's the blood that paid and purchased for my soul and it's the blood that saves me today this is still of the old testament law you are not rightly dividing you're trying to get me back under the law no the bible says christ is the end of the law for all who believe i'm not under the old testament law for salvation i'm saved by christ alone so here's the verse they try to go oh you're wrong you can lose your salvation you're like you're not even in the same time as me you're not rightly dividing you can't try to prove an old testament law verse and force that to us today that doesn't work and i thought that's funny i know they were going to do that and they did and they didn't they tried to use that but that's to the jews under the law that's not to us today under grace okay so people need to see that we're we're saved by grace today not by the law so it's a different time period and what are they doing they're looking at the bible like it's a buffet table they're like oh i like that i'm going to choose that and then try to force it into my doctrine for today that's not the doctrine for today that was doctrine back then for them but we're over here now not the same okay let me give you another one go to matthew chapter 10. some people will go here some people go to matthew chapter 10 and say well you want to talk about eternal life well this is how jesus says you get eternal life and you go oh yeah yeah okay tell me about it now remember the new testament starts with the death of a testator so the death of christ is when the new testament begins according to the book of hebrews when you read the book of matthew mark luke and john those are still old testament even though they're in the new testament section of the bible what they're talking about is still happening in the old testament until jesus actually dies so jesus says something here in matthew chapter 10 question is that new testament or is that still old testament when he's talking that's still old testament so jesus says this in matthew chapter 10 and look what he says matthew chapter 10 oh i said matthew 10. i'm sorry matthew 19 my bad matthew 19 and verse 17. okay matthew 19 17 says here jesus is speaking and there comes someone to jesus and look what happens actually verse 16 we got to back up verse 16. matthew 19 16 and he says here and behold one came and said unto him good master what good thing shall i do that i may have eternal life okay and he said unto him what caused me thou good there is none good but one that is god but if thou wilt enter into life keep the commandments and he said in him which jesus said thou shalt do no murder thou shalt not commit adultery thou shall not steal thou shalt not bear false witness honor thy father and thy mother and thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself the young man saith him all these things have i kept for my youth up what lack i jesus said in him if thou wilt be perfect go and sell that thou hast and give it to the poor and thou shall have treasure in heaven and come and follow me but when the young man heard that saying he went away sorrowful for he had great possessions all right guy comes to jesus he says hey i want eternal life what do i need to do what what works do i do to get eternal life do you sit up keep the commandments well people go there and they go well see that's salvation today you got to keep the commandments it's works and they say if you'll do these works you'll keep the commandments then you'll get eternal life so it's all based upon you they say well first of all of course jesus said that because he hadn't died on the cross yet if the guy would have come to him after he died on the cross jesus would have said now you trust me by faith and believe and then you're so why did jesus tell a guy to keep the commandments why did he tell this guy that if you'll keep the commandments then you'll find eternal life well you need to go to paul you need to understand that we're over here today in the church age and we're under the teachings of paul paul is our apostle and paul tells us that the law is a school master to bring us to christ so the law is a school master to bring us to christ before jesus died they still were under the old testament law so jesus says hey you want to find eternal life will you follow the law because if you do then after i die and it buried and rose again if you keep following the law then eventually the law will bring you to me and eternal life so this is before jesus died you cannot run to a verse before jesus died and say that that applies to us today in the church age it's a different testament and the testament starts with the death of a testator jesus hadn't died yet so these people that run to that verse say see you can lose it if you don't keep the commandments you won't have eternal life no you don't have a leg to stand on sorry sorry you're not rightly dividing the word of truth you're not making the proper division of old testament versus new testament and we're not in the old anymore we're in the new so sorry i can't i can't accept your verse i know you want really bad to believe that salvation is dependent upon what you do but that's not gonna work that's not gonna work because that was before the cross okay do you get that well other people say well what about james let's go to the book of james look at james chapter 20. okay let's go to james all right james chapter 20 20. james chapter 2 go to james chapter 2 and verse 20. but will thou know o vain man that faith without works is dead and then look how it says he was justified by works in verse 21 and then in verse 26 for for as the body without the spirit is dead so faith without works is dead and they say okay see this here's james and they say james says it's by faith and works and so they say go to james james says faith plus works and so there you go mr breaker you are so messed up on your doctrine you're saved by your works because you believe but then you have to keep it by works okay you believe that that's your one little verse to try to prove your doctrine that once saved always saved isn't true let's go to james chapter one and verse one and let me just ask you a quick question who is the book of james written to can you answer that for me you said to us really have you ever read it please please be careful before you speak out look at james chapter 1 and verse 1 and see who james has written to james 1 1 james a servant of god and of the lord jesus christ to the 12 tribes which are scattered abroad greeting okay are you one of the twelve tribes of israel okay then if you are then great james is written to you if you're not then james is not written to you and you've just tried to pull a verse like you're pulling something off of a buffet platter that's not for us today when does god go back to dealing with the jews over here in the tribulation when was james written well the book of james it's not james the lord's brother most of your modern day scholars are such blockheads that they don't even read the bible it's so sad in the book of acts james is killed early in the book of acts and you have peter james and john that are the three main pillars that are always with jesus peter james john peter peter wrote two epistles john wrote three epistles wrote revelation and wrote his gospel of john so it would stand to reason that if peter and john wrote something in the bible then the one that was closest to them james would have written so the book of james was written by that james early in the church age before paul that's why there's a lot of stuff in james that does not line up with paul because it was written before and it was still the mindset of the kingdom isn't coming the kingdom is coming the kingdom is coming anytime jesus would come to bring in his millennial reign so he's writing to the 12 12 tribes the jews that are scattered abroad so the application of james has to be here in the tribulation but you are trying to force it over here to me and tell me that salvation is by faith and worse when i have the apostle paul who says that god revealed to him the things for the church age who said that he is our apostle romans 11 13 and he says we're saved by faith not of works i think i'm going to follow paul i'm not going to follow you because you're trying to take me to a book that's written to the 12 tribes and i'm not one of the 12 tribes so i can't accept your verse okay i know you're trying i know you're trying hard to give me verses to try to prove that we can lose our salvation but so far you struck out haven't you because i'm a right divider and i'm rightly dividing and the verses you're giving me are either before the cross or after the rapture and it doesn't work sorry doesn't work all right let's go to another one what about matthew chapter 10. now there are in the bible things called dispensations and you need to know how to rightly divide and you need to understand the different dispensations in the bible the best way to read and understand the bible is through dispensations and i hope you do that i hope you understand the dispensations in the bible there are different times in different ways that god dealt with people and today god is dealing with the church and he's using the apostle paul as our apostle today so the apostle paul god revealed to him many many things that are for us today and one of them is that when you're saved you are in christ part of his body and christ is in you and you can't lose it because you are now one with him in the body now matthew chapter 10 verse 17. um well i was going to read all the all there from 17 down to 22 but i think i'll just read verse 22. verse 22. look at what it says matthew 10 22 and you should be hated of all men for my name's sake but he that endureth to the end shall be saved now people go well so see mr breaker salvation is my enduring to the end so you do good works and you endure the end because if you don't do the good works then you didn't endure the end and you're not saved and i go oh okay so you're telling me that you can lose it and it's based upon your works who is jesus speaking to here same chapter same chapter verse 5 these 12 jesus sent forth and commanded them saying go not into the way of the gentiles but go rather to the lost sheep of the house of israel jesus in his earthly ministry here before he died on the cross said i came only to the lost sheep of the house of israel and he's preaching the kingdom gospel he's preaching to the jews i'm your messiah except me so i can rule for a thousand years so jesus is preaching and he says if you endure the end you'll be saved and he's talking about something in the future in which they can be saved to go into the kingdom again this is a different dispensation this is not jesus speaking to us in the church age saying now if you dirty the end you'll be saved no because jesus said to paul once you're saved you're sealed with the holy spirit of promise there's no enduring to the end now sure you should live for jesus you should i see a lot of people say when you preach one say all saved that's an excuse to sin that's not what i teach i don't say now that you're saved go live like the devil no i say once we're saved now we should live for jesus because we are saved not to get safe not to stay safe but because we are saved we serve him because we love him because there is a thing called eternal security so you're going over to this verse and say you've got to do it again you got it and that's not even for us that's jesus speaking to jews and god goes back to dealing with the jews in the tribulation and the way to get through the tribulation is endured to the end so once again i cannot accept your verse as for today so endure to the end is a tribulation passage it's a time when the jews have to endure the end of something in order to get the kingdom and to get the messiah to rule over them so you're not rightly dividing and you're not seeing that that's for that dispensation we are in this dispensation under paul we're not in that one over there we're not this one back here before jesus died so no that's not going to work not going to work well they say well mr breaker hebrews hebrews chapter 10 and verse 26 why this clearly says that that you can lose it oh okay well we looked at this last time but let's look at it for you again and let me ask you this what's the name of this book it's hebrews are you a hebrew if not just throw that out there maybe maybe you can't use this verse perhaps if you're not a hebrew hebrews 10 26 look what it says for if we sin willfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins but a fearful certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation would still devour the adversary when is there a time of fiery indignation in which the adversaries are devoured when jesus comes at armageddon with fire and out of his mouth coming to sword and burns up all of his enemies this is clearly a tribulation passage and in the tribulation you can lose it if you take the mark of the beast well you even have it because you have to endure the end to be saved so are you even saved in the tribulation not really you're not saved until you get through it but if you take the mark you're lost and there remains no more sacrifice for your sins because taking the mark of the beast is instant damnation when jesus returns at armageddon and you have the mark of the beast he pitches you straight into hell do not pass go do not collect 200 okay i played a lot of monopoly as a kid there is no salvation for those that take the mark of the beast people want to come to this verse today and say that a place to us today everything paul says is no you can't lose it this says well if you do a sin willfully then you can never get saved you can never get that a sacrifice to apply to you and you just think for a second one is the only time in the whole bible when somebody does something and does a sin in which if they do that sin they're instantly damned they can't be saved it only applies to the tribulation if you take the mark of the beast so once again by the way this is the book of hebrews here's the mark of the beast so you are running to a passage you're trying to tell me that i can do a sin that will make me lose my salvation but that clearly is written to jews in the tribulation not to me so once again you went to your little salad bar and you said i want this over here this over here but you're not dealing with what's right in front of you okay so let's go to another one let's go to paul people go well paul says you can lose your salvation and every every time they run to paul and they try to use the verse that paul says you could lose your salvation i just shake my head and go no you you didn't read the whole context you're taking it out of context you're resting the scripture to your own destruction like peter says in second peter 3 15 and 16. let's go to romans people go well mr breaker and that's the way they talk to me mr breaker you think you know no i don't think i know anything all i know is the bible because i've read it and i'm not going to go through the bible and nitpick little verses out of different dispensations and then try to force that to me today it won't work because today god told me i have eternal life and i'm sealed with the holy spirit i don't see that in the tribulation i don't see that before so i see it for today okay romans 11 verse 17 romans 11 17 says and if some of the branches were be broken off and thou being a wild olive tree were grafted in among them and with them partakers of the root and the fatness of the olive tree boasts not against the branches but if thou boast thou bearest not the root but the root thee thou will say then the branches were broken off that i might be grafted in well because of unbelief they were broken off and thou standed by faith be not high minded but fear now verse 21 for if god spared not the natural branches take heed lest he also spare not thee and on and on and people go see see you can lose your salvation that's paul's it it's like are do you really really the nation of israel god dealt with israel as a nation in that nation were individuals okay but god was always dealing with the nation the nation rejected their messiah so god comes over here and he brings up a new nation and i don't even know if we should call it a nation per se he brings up the church and the church is the new in a way they replace israel but not for long they don't replace them forever because god will go back to dealing with israel in the future and so god's not done with israel so this is not paul telling an individual you can lose your salvation this is paul saying the nation lost their standing with god because they rejected the messiah now we're over here in the church age and in the church age god is saving a whole lot of gentiles but someday god will go back to dealing with the nation of israel so this the church someday is going to leave there's an exit and when it exits then god i do not see this saying an individual can lose their salvation but some people have attempted to give this verse and say this is the verse says you can lose it and i'm like no now paul's not saying that you can lose your salvation he's talking about the nation versus the church and how the israel as a nation rejected their messiah god grafted in gentiles in the church now the church is going to exit and we go back to dealing with jews again so it's dealing with the nation of israel not with an individual salvation especially when it says thou standed by faith faith is what saves us and we're in the faith then we're safe so no no i don't accept your verse that says you can lose it in that passage i think you're twisting it i think you're twisting it i don't think you're getting it right here's another one well what about philippians 2 breaker what about philippians 2 this is one of the the verses that people use the most to say this says you can lose your salvation i go kind of chuckle you should read the whole thing you cannot go to the bible and take one verse and then try to prove all of your doctrine based upon one verse we have what we call the law of context you should always go a couple verses before the couple verses below and look for the context and when you do that then they don't have a leg to stand on when they go to philippians 2 12. but many go to philippians 2 12 they say you can lose your salvation look what it says it says wherefore my beloved as you have always obeyed not is in my presence only but now much more in my absence work out your own salvation with fear and trembling they say see it works works you got to you say by works you got to work out your own salvation and i'm like dude can you read read the next verse with me please please please okay look what it says for it is god which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure all right so when he's saying work out salvation he's saying work outwardly out outwardly work outwardly what god has worked inly outwardly what god has worked in you salvation is the work of god and when we're saved we get the holy spirit inside of us and according to ephesians 1 13 paul says we're sealed with the holy spirit and we're given the fruit of the spirit and the fruit of the spirit is love joy peace long suffering all these things and those are now worked in us through the holy spirit which is sealed in us which we can't lose so now we're supposed to work that out of us what god has worked in us that is not working out your salvation in the sense that you have to be saved by your works that's working out of you what god has worked in you see the work of salvation is by god he did the saving i'm not saving myself now that i am saved i'm going to work out to others what god has worked in me it's not to be saved or to stay saved it's because i am saved so why don't you take that why don't you take that and take the next verse and understand that sure we should have some fear and trembling i fear i tremble sometimes thinking about sin and how awful it is and how i don't want to do it but i'm not afraid of going to hell because i can't go to hell i'm safe i'm afraid of losing rewards in heaven i'm afraid of losing my testimony i'm afraid of being a horrible example of a christian and i don't want that i want to do good but i don't fear whether i'm saved or not i know i'm saved i have eternal life and eternal means unchangeable i can't lose it so i'm going to work out what god has worked in amen here's some more let's go to first corinthians i get this email a lot brother breaker what does this mean doesn't this mean you can lose salvation no no let's look again first corinthians chapter 6 and verse 9. first corinthians 6 9 says know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of god be not deceived neither fornicators nor adulterer idolaters nor adulterers nor effeminate nor abuse themselves with mankind nor thieves nor covetous nor drunkards nor revilers nor extortioners shall inherit the kingdom of god all right so these people say see it says you cannot inherit the kingdom of god if you are a drunkard or this or that or whatever but it says inherent you know what inherit means now let me show you another verse just like this and let me show you why this is not saying you can lose your salvation it's not saying someone that does these things goes to hell now if you're not saved and you do those things you go to hell but if you are saved and you do do those things you lose rewards in heaven but you don't lose salvation but you sure do lose your testimony as a christian and you sure are a poor excuse for a christian but you can't lose salvation and let me explain that to you when we go to galatians and let me show you it all hinges on the word inherit okay it doesn't say will go to hell and we'll lose salvation you're twisting it you're saying no inherit means that you'll lose it no let's look at galatians galatians chapter 5 and verse 21. and uh it says endings murderers drunkenness revelings and such like of which i tell you before as i have told you in time past that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of god so he says you can't inherit the kingdom of god based upon certain things that you do all right is that saying you can't be saved if you do those things no what is inherent we have a word inheritance what is your inheritance inheritance is some rewards when we are saved according to the bible we are saved forever we get eternal life we can't lose that because it's eternal it's forever it's unchangeable but we can sure lose an inheritance what is an inheritance it's rewards go to colossians with me in colossians chapter 3 look what it says it's right here if you just read your bible you never come to the conclusion that you can lose salvation if you rightly divide and you look at what it says colossians colossians chapter 3 and look what it says the end of the of chapter 3 verse 23 and whatsoever you do you do it hardly as to the lord and not unto men knowing that of the lord you should receive the reward of the inheritance oh so rewards are connected with our inheritance so there are some things that if i do in my body i can lose my rewards in heaven but i can't lose salvation i can lose an inheritance but i can't lose salvation in this life when we trust christ we are sealed we become a son of god we're his son now the question is are we obedient sons are we disobedient sons if we are disobedient sons then we lose rewards in heaven at the rapture we go up to heaven and that's when we have the judgment seat of christ and that's when god says okay let's see what you did for me and what you did for me you'll get rewards for but what you did for yourself in the flesh you don't get you actually lose rewards because you commit adultery because you do this because you do that so if you're a christian who is truly saved by trusting the blood but you're living in sin you lose some inheritance you lose your rewards in heaven it's not saying you lose your salvation don't give me that you clearly have not studied the bible you clearly have not read all of paul and you don't even know about the rewards what what are you doing trying to prove you can lose salvation you're saying that jesus blood wasn't enough to save us from all sins it's all up to you oh well thank god for you no thank god for jesus because you're a dirty rotten sinner you can't save yourself it's just a shame that people want so bad to believe that you can lose salvation let's go to another one let me give you another example they'll go to paul and they'll go well mr breaker first timothy 1 18 okay first timothy 1 18. paul is speaking to timothy and it says this charge i commit to the son timothy according to the prophecies which went before on thee that thou by them might war a good warfare holding faith in a good conscience which some have put away concerning faith have made shipwreck of whom is high mass and alexander who will not have delivered unto satan that they may learn not to blaspheme they say see these poor people lost their salvation and guess what shipwreck well that means you can lose it no shipwreck is i looked up the word in the greek language and everything it's kind of it's kind of like now now fargo or something in spanish and alfredo means the context of this book is paul writing to timothy about the ministry and he's saying hey you better do right because guess what if you don't live right and do right then you can destroy your ministry and your ministry can be shipwrecked you can get out of the ministry people can say i don't want you as a pastor anymore because you're a poor example of a christian and so you can lose your ministry it's not saying you can lose your salvation it says well well it says they were offered up to satan you know there's another passage and i don't know if we'll even get to it we might you know i just don't have time so i can't get there but there's a passage where in first corinthians um chapter five go ahead and read that sometime verse one through five there's a guy who's a christian who's saved who's fornicating with his father's wife his stepmother and does paul say he's going to hell and he lost it no he says i offer up his flesh to satan for the destruction of the flesh but his spirit will be saved so the spiritual creature the new creature inside his soul and the holy spirit that's going to heaven but the flesh the devil can get it you see remember when you're saved what are you you're a body you're a soul and you're a spirit and the soul and the spirit belong to god when you're saved but the body doesn't and that body can sin and that body can do evil and you shouldn't do evil in the body some people do but if you do then you lose rewards and god will chasten you i don't have time to go to hebrews but hebrews says whom the lord loveth he chasteneth and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth so if you're a christian and you're living in sin then you ought to be scared because god is gonna let you in your flesh pay for your sin but the soul goes to heaven so you're a disobedient son and god has a really big belt and he can reach down from heaven christian can't go to hell but he can sure go through hell on this planet in this life if he's living in sin and i've known christians oh they've done some bad things and they paid for it uh smoking drinking cussing uh fornicating dying of stds dying of cancer uh dying of you know liver disease dying of of lung cancer from smoking you reap what you sow the bible says so if you reap to the flesh you of the flesh reap corruption if you reap to the spirit while you reap rewards in heaven so as a christian the best thing to do is live for god and lay up treasures in heaven you can't lose salvation but you can sure lose rewards and you can sure lose a healthy body by going out and and giving your body to sin so live right and do right let's go to first corinthians 15 1-4 here's the gospel and i've heard people go to this passage first corinthians 51-4 it says well it says right there that you can lose it no it doesn't people want so bad to think that salvation is based upon what they do that they want to make it dependent upon them and say well i'm saved based upon me and my works and that's not what the bible teaches it's not our works that saves us it's the work of christ could you imagine if you were saved by works could you imagine getting to heaven and going up to heaven going i made it i made it i did it it's me look at me you know you're dancing doing backflips i made it it's me it's me i made it i look how great i'm worthy i'm worthy i made it you know what would happen everyone in heaven would turn around to you and say shut up you aren't worthy we're trying to praise jesus who saved us because he deserves all the honor and praise and glory because he's the one that got us here and you're sitting there telling everybody how great you are it ain't about you it's about him you see we're not saved because we did this or we didn't do that we're saved based upon what he did and you're trying to steal god's glory if you think that salvation is something that you do and that's what's so sad that's what people do who think they can lose it first corinthians 15 moreover brother i declare unto you the gospel which i preached to you which also you've received and where you stand by which also you're saved okay we're saved by the gospel and then they say but look what it says next mr baker it says if you keep in memory what i preached unto you unless you believed in vain okay they say up see you can believe in vain and then not be what does it mean to believe in vain what does it mean to keep it in memory well the bible tells us that we're saved by faith but that faith is from the heart what is the heart it's your entire being it's your immortal soul it's who you are so salvation is by believing from the heart not just the head see a lot of people will believe in their head oh i believe jesus did this the other but in their head they believe jesus died was buried rose again but then they're holding on to their works and saying but i gotta do this or i'll lose it that's a lost person and they're believing in vain because they're only believing from the head but they haven't put their complete faith from the heart in the finished work of christ they're still holding on to their element of works thinking that they're saved based upon what they do rather than what jesus did that's a person who's believing in vain when i look at the word vain i say vain vain that reminds me of vanity vanity what is vanity self you know remember that song by carly simon you're so vain you probably think this song is about you don't you don't you don't you you know what is vain vein is you so if you're believing in vain you're believing in yourself you're thinking i'm getting to heaven based upon what i do and you're not saying you never got safe to begin with you didn't lose it because you can't lose what you don't have you're not saved if you're adding to salvation and thinking that you have to do something to get saved or you have to continue doing something to keep yourself safe you're saying what jesus did isn't enough to save me i've got to be the co-savior i've got to do this so this isn't saying that you can lose it it tells us what salvation is what the gospel is for i deliver unto you first of all that which i also received how that christ died for our sins according to the scriptures that he was buried that he rose again third day according to scriptures so it's all about how jesus did what he did and what did he do he shed his blood and without the shedding of blood there's no remission of sins and it's the blood of jesus that saves us so i don't see how you can try to run to this passage and say oh oh oh it proves you can lose your salvation no it doesn't no it it explains that salvation is believing from the heart not just from the head so if you've only believed from the head then you're not saved yet so you need to believe completely on the finished work of christ and not in your own self-righteousness now let's go to another one a lot of people go to second peter chapter two they go well ii peter 2 20 and 21 shows you can lose it all right well peter isn't paul okay let's just throw that out there paul is our apostle today but let's look at peter ii peter 2 20. ii peter 2 20 for if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the lord and savior jesus christ they are again entangled therein and overcome the latter end is worse than the beginning is worse with them than the beginning for it have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness than after they had known it to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them first of all it's not saying you can lose it it's saying boy if you got it you go do bad you're gonna have some bad times that's basically what it's saying but look what it says if they had the knowledge if all they had was the knowledge of jesus in their head then they weren't safe to begin with it's from the heart that we believe and are saved but the heart man believeth under righteousness so all these passages that people run to to try to say this is a verse that says you can lose your salvation they're twisting it they're reading into it they're trying to force it to say what they want they're either twisting what it says or they're trying to go to a different dispensation to try to tell you well this is what it means and they're wrong let me show you another one a lot of people say well what about revelation mr breaker yeah what about it that's john is john our apostle today no he's not there's a lot of stuff in john that we can take and we can't apply to us but you've got to be careful we always have to make sure everything lines up with paul because paul says that jesus gave him the revelations for us today so there are many revelations things that god revealed to paul that are for us today now the things that are revealed to john in the book of revelation are all future and let's look at that a lot of people say well mr breaker john tells us in revelation 3 5 that we can lose it i go oh really okay let's look at that john 3 5. he that overcometh the same shall be clothed in white raiment and i will not blot out his name out of the book of life but i will confess his name before my father and before his angels and they say see see this is written to the church and someone is clothed in white raiment and their name's not blotted out it's all based upon their overcoming okay is that for today paul says we are more than conquerors so we have already overcome in the church age so is this applying to the church age well that's a good question let's look at a couple other passages let's look at 2-7 2-7 he that hath near let him hear what the spirit saith unto the churches to him that overcometh will i give to eat of the tree of life which is in the midst of the paradise of god now when is the tree of life what that's out here in the millennium i don't sound like church age is it to you someone overcoming and by overcoming they have a right to eat of the tree of life well that takes us to the tribulation that's the tribulation passage so he's writing this passage here sounds like tribulation to me let's go to uh verse 11 to the he that hath an ear to ear let him hear what the spirit saith unto the churches he that overcometh shall not be heard of the second death well paul already told us today today when we're saved we won't be overcome by the second death but somebody out here in the tribulation while they need to overcome they need to endure the end so see how it's different dispensation it sounds like let's go to verse 17. he that hath and ear let him hear what the spirit saith unto the churches to them that overcometh will i give to eat the hidden manna and will give him a white stone and a new stone and a name written which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it that's weird why is why why do people think that would apply to today look at verse 26 and he that overcometh and keepeth my works unto the end to him will i give power over the nations all right now let's go to chapter 3 and verse 12. chapter 3 and verse 12 him that overcometh will i make a pillar in the temple of my god and he shall go no more out and i will write upon him the name of my god in the name of the city of my god which is new jerusalem which cometh down out of heaven for my god and i'll write upon him my new name now verse 21 to him that overcometh will i grant descent with me in my throne even as i also overcame and am set down with my father in his throne people say over and over and over see this is all works based gospel okay you have to understand the book of revelation all right this is john writing to whom who is john writing to okay i want you to see this this is very interesting i don't hear other preachers explaining what i'm about to explain to you and i think they should watch this say revelation 1 11 revelation 1 11 saying i am alpha omega the first and last and what thou seest write in a book and send it to the seven churches which are in asia so the book of revelation is writing to seven churches that are literally seven churches in asia okay let's remember that when we look at what paul said in what paul's writings let's go to second timothy 1 15. second timothy 1 15. paul is writing this book the last book that he writes he's about to be martyred for jesus and in second timothy 1 15 paul says something very interesting he says this thou knowest that all they which are in asia be turned away from me and who are philly phy jealous and homogeneous paul says uh by the way those over in asia they're not following my doctrine they're not following me they're not following what i preached so watch out for them i now do i need to say any more do you want to run over to that part of the bible and try to force that back to us today and say today we can lose salvation based upon that and paul says hey watch out for them they turned against me do i need to even say any more well i will but let's go revelation what is it in revelation well revelation as amazing book there's multiple multiple multiple prophecies in the book of revelation john is literally writing to seven churches in asia in his time what is it 60 years after jesus or something like that many of them went apostate and they thought i guess they were preaching a works gospel rather than the gospel of paul faith alone for by grace you saved through faith and that nod of yourselves is the gift of god not of works less than a man should boast what paul says is different from what jesus said back here and from what john is talking about over here you how do you reconcile that my daddy would always do that my daddy would come across someone who was a heretic or someone of another denomination or someone that belonged to a cult and taught a different teaching other than the true teaching of what they would always say and my dad would go oh you believe that yeah yeah my dad says show me a verse and they show them a verse might i go okay let me show you this verse and my dad would take him to a verse that said the exact opposite and he go now your verse said this and my verse says this and it's not the same right they're opposite yeah my dad goes well how do you reconcile that and i just loved how my dad would do it my dad would say now how do you reconcile that and the person goes well uh and my dad goes do we throw the bible in the garbage because it says one thing here in the opposite here and so it's lying it says two different opposite things or is there some way that we have to reconcile that because god can't lie and the person would go well god can't lie so how could he say that here and then say that there and now some people go well the only way we can fix that is we have to take paul out of the bible so we get rid of paul then and they always stick in matthew mark luke and john that's not correct you have to rightly divide paul is in the bible for a reason and so right dividing is understanding paul paul god gave us for the church age because it's going to be different in the tribulation of the millennium as it was different under the law but here we are on the greatest dispensation of all we're in the time of grace where we're saved by grace through faith so you've got to understand that so my dad would say look the easiest way to reconcile it is understand dispensations and to understand that this is written by this guy to this period or to these people and paul is writing this to us today paul today says that once we're saved we get eternal life and we can't lose it but there's some people that have to endure to the end and they have to overcome so the book of uh revelation the seven churches there were seven literal churches in the time of john they also applied the church age in time periods of seven churches and if you go through the two thousand years of the church age they're two hundred and something years apiece and what's amazing is the one philadelphia well that lines up with king james bible 1611 and it lines up with the founding of america in the 1700s the capital of america was philadelphia so but also these seven churches can be seven churches during the time of the tribulation and during that time someone has to overcome and endure to the end and i've heard that from a guy named stan vespy years ago one of the best bible teachers i'd ever heard out of tennessee i don't even know if he's still a pastor but old stan vespe man he had some good teachings so as i go through the bible i have to rightly divide it i have to understand dispensations and i have to go to the dictionary because words have meanings and i look at the definitions of words and i go no no i cannot believe that you can lose salvation today because paul says in so many different places that you're not saved by works you're saved by faith alone and you say well there's verses that say you can lose it it's not faith alone well you go to those verses you read the context you find someone's twisting that out of context or they're twisting it out of a different dispensation and trying to force it into our dispensation today so here let me close with this what we can lose you can't lose salvation if you go by the actual definition of the word eternal means unchangeable when you are saved by christ alone through faith in his blood you can't lose it so what can you lose well there are some things that you can lose and i've alluded to them a little bit you can lose rewards in heaven so if you choose to live a sinful life you get up at the judgment seat of christ you're not going to have much you're not going to have much of an inheritance so you need to live for jesus not to try to stay saved you are saved if you believe in the blood faith alone but now that you're saved you have a great opportunity to lay up treasures in heaven rewards now you can live in sin as a christian you shouldn't but if you do you know what you'll lose you lose joy and then you'll lose your testimony and people will always look at you and say that guy's horrible he claims to be a christian but look at what he's doing and look at how awful he is well that well and they'll you will not have a good testimony as a christian if you were living in sin you will lose your testimony you'll lose fellowship if you claim to be a christian but you're living like the devil and doing bad other christians won't want to be your friend and you'll lose fellowship and you'll lose peace i know people that are christians that are saved just as saved as they can be they're not doing so well right now they're living in sin and i'll talk to him i said well have you quit doing this yet are you still doing that thing are you still living in sin are you still yeah i feel so bad about it i say well you ought to because i just i feel horrible yeah you ought to you can lose peace so get right with god and get your joy back and live right so you can't lose salvation okay and we've gone through all the verses that people try to say they should prove you can lose it and i look at i go you're going to a different apostle to a different time period to to different verses that you're twisted out of context to books of the bible that say they're written to the 12 tribes not even to us and you're trying to tell me that's what we should follow rather than paul and yet in the bible paul tells us three times be followers of me see paul says he's our apostle today so i have to go by paul and he says once they always say it you can't lose it when you're saved you get eternal life so i'm not gonna follow you i'm not gonna follow your verses i've already studied this out many many many times and i'm not gonna be deceived by you and what's sad there's a lot of people out there who are deceived and a lot of people unfortunately because they're deceived on once saved always saved they're lost because they are thinking that their salvation is dependent on them so they're trying to make themselves the savior and they are guilty of saying that jesus cannot save you you have to save yourself by your works and that's not what my bible says that's not what paul says paul says for by grace you saved through faith and that not of yourselves is the gift of god not works lest any man should boast let me close with this second timothy 1. uh i already moved my pulpit let me move it back here i got to finish this up second timothy 1 8. second timothy chapter 1 verse 8 through 14 and you need to understand it's all about paul and we're under paul's ministry paul is our apostle today the revelations given to paul are for the church today after the rapture everything goes back to jesus and to james and all the things that are going to be in the tribulation and yes you have to endure the end yes there is an element of works in that time period but not today not today so let's look at this second timothy 1 8-14 be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our lord nor of me his prisoner but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of god who has saved us and called us with an holy calling not according to our works but according to his own purpose and grace which was given us in christ jesus before the world we are not saved or kept saved by works paul tells us repeatedly so you either believe that or you don't if you believe that you understand the gospel you understand the gospel is all what jesus did to save me and all jesus demands is my faith and when my faith is in him then i'm saved i have eternal life i can't lose but if you reject that you want to think there's an element of works involved then you're saying that what jesus did wasn't good enough and that you have to try to get yourself to heaven based upon you and what you do that is a damnable heresy and that is not salvation that's damnation verse um uh 10 but is now made manifest by the appearing of our savior jesus christ who has abolished death and it brought life and immortality to light through the gospel where unto i am appointed a preacher and an apostle and a teacher of the gentiles for which cause i also suffer these things nevertheless i'm not ashamed for i know whom i have believed and it persuaded that he is able to keep that which i committed unto him against that day what day the judgment seat of christ all my sins are under the blood of jesus even the ones i haven't committed yet and i'm going to heaven because my sins are forgiven have forgiven me all trespasses verse 13 hold fast the form of sound words which thou have heard of me in faith and love which is in christ jesus that good thing which was committed unto thee keep by the holy ghost which dwelleth in us and by the way guess what holy ghost doesn't just dwell on us remember last time jesus said he dwells in us forever and ephesians 1 13 paul says we're sealed with the holy spirit until the day of redemption so holy spirit can't leave i am saved once saved always saved and your verses that you try to go to in the bible to prove that you can lose salvation we see through them we see you twisting those verses to try to make them say what you want them to say rather than what they actually do say and we see you going to different dispensations trying to to to pull verses out of different dispensations and trying to force them into today and it won't work so you need to get right with god you need to understand dispensations please don't be deceived please don't be lost you know when the rapture comes it'll be a big eye opener for some people there'll be a lot of people that don't go and they'll be like but i thought i was saved i was doing good works uh well you should have listened to robert breaker should listen to the bible see it's not your works it saves you it's the work of christ trusting that alone and then you're once saved always saved okay well god bless you we'll see you next time
