SHAUNO’S NEVER BEEN SO SCARED – Coffs Harbour vs. 4WD Action – who wins?

we're back in Coffs Harbour last time Sean I drove this track all hell broke loose now it's time to redemption hold on to your hats folks cuz this is gonna get wild mate committing or what no scoffs I mean you come here for one reason reason I see two reasons one is to drive tough tracks the other one is to eat bananas and blueberries this is not a blueberry track this right here this is a tequila track guys whose absolute form this is just one of many there are so many tracks and to give you an idea or some of the names these tracks are me more but we don't make and of course the one and only infamous commander he'll last night I tried that one I ended up on my side so we're gonna go back get a little bit of redemption on that all goes free from 300 what are the two but whatever is gonna happen it's gonna be absolutely XYZ because this after all is coffs harbor I hope it's not explosive mate some of it might be like boat I cook I'll tell you that so folks grab your favorite chair get something call crack that can open and enjoy it cops are for drive action stuff all right drive to the top we've got a huge three days of wheeling ahead of us in the four-wheel-drive paradise that is coffs harbor but today we've got one mission and that's to give my mate Sean oh and crack at redemption either way the track we've got planned today is gonna be epic coughs Arbour mate coughs Arbor made it always brings back a whole stack of pretty eventful full drive moments me every time I come back to here this is the harder for driving in in Australia if you want odd core this is it might as well kind of test yourself and your vehicle yeah without a doubt mates dude you've never been - coughs you for mate but you're gonna get one heck of an experience I take one with us oh I'm here to make memories make this one here for look I'm just gonna come out with it mate that's been a few years since I've put a vehicle that siding coughs arm up I'm gonna start off this adventure by getting the monkey off the shoulder and gown a tackle commando whoa well that's a big call mate that's a big cool yeah I've been thinking about it for a while and I was a lot more confident around the campsite last night a few bees under me belt but um I think I want to go check it out yeah well I tell you what I'll a hundred percent commit to checking it out with you let's start there mate and see what happens all right let's go oh man that way I try to drive that track twice before first time I nearly rolled over in the rut before the start the tracks I didn't even really get to drive up the track second time rolled 30-30 put on a side and this right now will be the third attempt my face a third time lucky people he'd go third time's a charm there so it'd be politics let me throw this yeah you say Shawna has had a pretty long and eventful history with the commando trail and each time this track has squarely beaten it with that in mind you can hardly blame Sean's mounting nerves as we lock the hubs and air down at the bottom of commando Hills just wait for a make now Shauna's built this rig city here exactly four tracks like this and this is perhaps the most capable vehicle he's ever owned it's twin locked on 35s with a good lift kit in it it's got a moderate amount of power just enough I reckon and it's as tough as an old pair of boots I think he stands his best chance ever of beating commando today maybe however I'll be taking on coughs in the eyes Zuzu d-max now we've built this vehicle primarily as a touring rig you see it's got all the 12-volt you could ever want it's got a good storage solution including water and drawers a moderate lift a solid set of mud terrain tires some firework and winch and really it's the sort of vehicle you'd see every day all around Australia this here is tough country for any modern ifs vehicle but I'm keen to see how this little beast handles it last in the convoy is none other than stood up from wholesale automatics in a pretty capable gu patrol now Stu's secret weapon is actually hidden from view you see it's none other than that custom auto conversion now guarantee you'll put it to good use on the tough tracks of coughs Arbor and right there it's the main climb of commando trail I've known several people to roll on this track shot at being one of them this is not a trail to muck around on I I just I'm six eight roughly this is litter size of this is actually not where I rolled it last time I actually drove this much to my surprise celebrated when I got to there and then rolled it up there well it's gone let's we can stop you here you reckon that's right I reckon I'm gonna stop there so let's have a look at I just want to just just we're gonna draw this we can't even use words I'm actually just a bit more nervous than normal and it's got nothing to the track it's just it's got history yep history is definitely the word for it the last time Sean was here in the dirty thirty he looked like he was gonna sail to the top all that remained was a final section of rats talking you drive my good driver yeah good line to start your no now the big rock step mate this is it the toughest part come on mate well yep it's amazing that short I came out of this one unscathed but I can only imagine how nervous he'll feel tackling it once again or just really shook about this one just last time I did it didn't go really well always said to myself when I come back and I'm gonna draw in commando where they're putting the vehicle on the side that's what we're doing today hopefully let's go get over these nerves that's the thing that's killing me here we go [Music] [Applause] first part done and dusted and he's made it look exceptionally easy I've got I've got a sixth eighth of the way okay you're pretty much online there you just want to obviously get up it and don't turn until you're up I'll even live I believe there you go hot spot done oh okay he was very stressed very nervous leading in there he's grinning like a chimp now however we do have to get past psychologically probably the hardest one here it's where he rolled last on the way sure this vehicles not going anywhere now you can't physically can't you up against the bank okay I'm thankful off the brake then wheels out on the ground dude the brakes go through with it this is probably the most gnarly angle I've ever been on ending up on your side is scary at any time but having all four wheels off the ground on a hill like this is even scarier you did you're nearly at the top I know all right mate it's time let's get this done right here we go here we go [Applause] that's it pop rock some guy man oh god didn't do it this time yes yes yes you yada yada hurry up I'm sorry son thank you thank you for that all right this is where you could possibly roll it roll it's all about us the elevator at the furthest on command over that rolling up ever I reckon get past this and I'm up yep okay that's easy and look at that the party was most nervous about the part that defeated him last time the partner could the dirty thirty on its roof and he's climbed up that made it look like a walk in the park right off sudhi you earning weapon you're an absolute weapon all of this traffic yes [Music] yes [Music] didn't even roll it was a may as a vehicle the spotting I just if anything else a week is leaked mate i shaking like a leaf in there this was actually a walk in the park compared to us I was just the nerves got me a little bit on this one foot of them in thanks for your spot and so easy you watching now he's gonna didn't drive anything honest you gonna reverse a koala that's not as well yeah fair enough okay it's time to bring the d-max up now look I gotta be honest there's no way a relatively stop vehicle is gonna get up that first rock step so I've opted for a beeline around it lifts up just below where short I had ease roll over its steep and Shaylee in its own right but I've got it done easy now back on the main track it's time to tackle those ruts as always this looks like nothing on camera but let me tell you that is one heck of a rut for any ifs vehicle and I've got to tell you I'm absolutely stoked and how well the little de max has performed on a track that really is built for the big trucks yes that's a big rock step by goodness asteroid light you commander momentum at exactly the right time just just use that to just jump up and I ever doesn't have a problem walking just three and made that look pretty easy mm-hmm so we can get you up he's not speaking all right all this I'll just get up here boot I would straddle that but okay nope going for the drive okay I'm not bad I'll leave you two of them and you draw the right side off the dog gave it a passenger that's it that is so silly on that Wow yeah no have you got me have a look at the amount of control Stu's got right there the automatic mean Stu's not on and off the throttle it also means he can slow right down where he needs to without putting his foot on the clutch that means the vehicle is not bouncing around like you sometimes see with a manual four-wheel drive on tracks like these and automatic is an incredible advantage yes so how much control is there I have controlled this is a bit of a breather as Avigail to control he's got right there that auto is impressive in these conditions he's just incredible what a difference it makes twin locking a vehicle and then sticking an auto in it yeah good morning this is one are over them ice to just say your remember this is where Sean I rolled last time oh good that's it awesome control hey easy does it well what's that that's pretty much out happen just like straight that really guy I think you can need to come up with what I remember but then again it was a long time ago but the rest of it exactly as it was implanted in my memory a few years ago yeah it did the same a little bit easier this time it certainly is a a lot easier you don't put it the vehicle on its side and it all goes well sure you'd have to be stoked for that mate just walk straight up to it and just drive commander yank no I was um really only happen with that trough look at doing the really hard tricks but settle down mate but I reckon I'm in the mood to go back to camp and have a couple of Col deze and let's do that mate let's do that and found a cracking little campsite on the edge of the bush with commando conquered you can tell you we can't wait to get the fire going swap some stories of the day but first we're going to set up cops where they can be ever so slightly unpredictable I mean you're right next to the ocean and next to a mountain range so you can get the odd shower when you're least expected so it comes to camping setups I rigging an awning or just something to keep you out of the wind the weather can be a vital ingredient to having a comfortable night around the campfire [Music] [Music] now we've camp set up it's time to crack a cold one get a fire going how good is this there's even enough reception to watch The Footy next on the menu though is Sean's cooking so guess we better buckle up boys well I'll tell you what every time we come back - coughs ah bah I'm just reminded how hard the tracks are out here I mean this place really is one of the mecca's of food were driving in this country now tonight I'm gonna cook up with me I suppose that some well actually don't exactly know what I'm cooking that's gonna be half the fun about tonight I'm gonna cook up we're going to call chicken and dirty rice so I'm gonna start off with a couple of onions and you go straight in there I hope yourself yep well if you could just get me a little line Jackie out my totally sure I'm not appreciated I mean I forgot the knife kit no the big ones or what okay feeling big big tracks big knives full what's that a likely spot not even fully sparkling tell you after I said I win - did you not hear me the first time otherwise you go sorry my cheese cheese right jeez that's a good place for black I'll tell you what I mean what are you chicken oh holy heck am I chicken you got there you got chicken and pork the rice is dirty because I'm adding a lot of pork and a lot of spices let's get that going get that going you can do that because after my fried it and again I've got actually some jalapenos yes and there should be some red chilies in this right no big ones here we go every time I cook or basically just and we actually I create you know what I do I just put some oil in there getting real hot yeah getting super hot put some olive oil in that won't come along don't try it in thank you give me one jalapeno you got more than that yeah bye give me some red rockets oh you want some red rub it you've ever said that right so jalapenos just gonna cut those torn making quite thin keep the seeds in if you like heat if you don't want the heat take the seeds out is it quite hard is it jalapeno like seriously yeah no not hot they don't they're falling how's that it's got a little Messier a little bit of get more of a cut up near the red chillies and we've gone to the red rocket Chili's Oh Sydney your struggle what you mean no the red ones any any less you got a little bit of gal there I'm not not too bad I probably that so that should just give it a good little flavor oh I just got one whiff of that it's gonna be good one at all you've got those months too bro well shoes hang on hang on okay well Tony's off it are you ready for this laughs all right that's weird in Orthodox then do me a favor sure hold this - yeah this is not something you'd normally do right but I'm improvising I'm doing a one-pot wonder here tonight a little bit olive oil this is a bit weird brain Bank lemon juice about that much lemon juice that's it that's a good old split anyone's language look at that a little bit of garlic keep that knife go like two of those some garlic man it's pretty good okay did you get it in the bag the whole is still right one more thing ymore drawers I've got like a pack of spices you do and I fantastic basically go through so this one here is our oregano oregano oregano Friday mr. America put that one in yeah if you think those red chilies your hot mate this will buy you sure about this yeah I can take chili you sure you can do this all right mate this one here is the cayenne pepper that's a one for hot now this is this is where you need to be careful because this one will sting up this one really will get you in that mood right in this place wherever really good be careful this one both David it's all in it some of the strongest risk well this fights all right I guess the job done oh one more type of breaker so just basically look what you've got in your little Tucker bag I always carry some spice because we were luring us for so you can make the most things nice all things I see in fact exactly that how's that looking here is that looking might that way you're thinking well I've never say I've never done this before gonna be also your idea right that's um that's looking more just whatever I'm going with um chicken drumstick now you could go with chicken thighs then that would probably be a tiny bit tastier but chicken drumsticks are a wide Shafer option that's what I mean what's it like yeah you draggin ah I'm not gonna ties it now got raw chicken in but he's gonna put the drumstick straight in so good actually yeah cool I could put that I don't know why I'm surprised of course it is obvious our creative aside and I need to massage these lyric oh you see suggest okay you know that way I'm going back to the hey here's the thing I've massaged a few legs in my time do you have if anyone's up the job of this chickens are three miles right well some of them sorry look if you work if you're a little bit on to it a little bit more than us so you'd probably you get that actually merrier and I don't leave it in the fridge for a little bit but not ass tonight so write them straight in right now can we get the onions done a bit more well it's alright I mean like now they're not even close hey you want ah sorry Graham that's actually your eye it you're away the words it's get it give it and give it a minute give it to me well your legs already here mate okay what I'm gonna do then rip into the older spareribs so these were guys they're fantastic and nearly anything you put them in I'll put it in pasture a hell of a lot I'm just cutting these in a smaller bits whack them in the whole whole lot we're gonna Brown everything off is the key this end of everything so why we tanto now turn the heat up we're gonna Brown off everything they'll take about five minutes honored cut these up in the meantime brown those off and that's when we put the stock in add the rice and we can let it simmer the rice cooks with all that goodness damn boy we've got chicken and dirty rice now you sort of want to mix it around a bit but sort of try and get it leveled off so a little bit of chicken stock that is going in red-hot and open that up Paul yeah a good idea near the washing up as you go there you go hang on alright he's confused when you're making rice you're basically you want W me enough stock to the amount of rice your now right now boys I look the old Maddie no Australian long great haven't really got in stock here oh goodness we're gonna what you gonna hit me after the vote from the packet halfway isn't it one hand or something hey you pour it straight it's it's I not big on kilos that's one cup one more that's two cups I'd go this little when they get to the boil I'm gonna back the head off a little bit let it simmer you're making rice but all the same pot it's gonna cook the rest of the cheek and the poor the my ingenious doesn't get spread around it like all right it doesn't do much chop right near let's be honest ourselves know when it comes together who knows it won't look any better but you are taste extremely good we're looking at put little nightly wears a little I had the ring pedal in somewhere one job one job chef of la salida he's a lot maybe draw angles hang on just two SEC's all right the lid got that's gonna write that in with just a little breather hole where this B is done reckon we aren't a chance that has been I got timed it with yelled risk what she turned that off right when you smell a tiny bit of burning so always some peak is what you're looking for here folks if the rice is cooked everything else masterly you're on you're on you go first [Music] chef Fiore done if you can hold a bit of chicken up or and you can say I want a bone and there's not much meat on it we're we are playing with magic to you folks mmm that is one of my all-time favorites the old chicken and dirty rice it's actually surprising I reckon we've got a huge day tomorrow mmm let's go and grab a beer oh yeah and talk about right here me track some winner not drive tomorrow boys this brilliant little spot right here is coffs harbor 4-wheel Drive and camping now it backs directly onto the lower Buckeye State Forest and it's plenty of space for four-wheel-drive campers just like us it's an easy hop from here either north or south to some of coughs harbors best tracks and with the coffee on the go that's exactly what we've got planned next with a plan for the day in place it's time to get packed up and get goin well have a go this for a work of art hey this right here is 12-volt heaven now I've recently done some changes on old city here mainly in the storage sort of department and I've retained the same 12-volt system because it's work just so well but there has been a few little changes I'm gonna share with you one of the big ones is I've actually mounted the batteries that you sort of sit on the floor over here and race to pack bag and stuff on top of an output I mean little hatches so if you open up these hatches you'll see there's one of these sensory deep cycle batteries in each of these two hatches so by two batteries are separated from each other they're really easy to access I think that is a cool little setup but it also protects the batteries so they can't accidentally short out and of course some batteries short air that leads to fire and all sorts of bad things to happen another thing though when you are trying to design a 12-volt system for the back of your four-wheel drive I can't recommend highly enough but put all your gear that you need to be accessible on a board like this now this one here is connected to a proper cargo barrier you didn't need to find a place in your vehicle whether it be behind your rear seats against a wall or something like that but having everything on display doesn't just look good it's not there for show it's actually very very practical now I can access my inverter very easily I can see my red act manager 30 screen very easily all my circuit breakers are within view so if I if something shuts down I can see it in a split second if I do need to troubleshoot so I'll make which let's face it you don't need to do a system like this but I can actually open this up and open the whole flap up and get to the wiring behind here very very easily now another little tip when you set up a 12-volt system while I do have 12-volt sig sockets and heaps of USB charging ports around these 12-volt setup might also run a heck of a lot of NS and plugs now when you're running a fridge I always recommend using Andersen plugs cut off the seek socket that comes with it put these 50 watt Edison plugs now they can hold 50 watt so they're way more over even what you need but the really cool thing is their Bush proof so when you go in through corrugation so that is never ever going to pop it out so your fridge will always get power and never turn itself off I'll tell you what hasn't changed is some of my 12-volt gear that is on this board now I've used and come to love and trust this key all around Australia the red arc thousand watt pure solid inverter this is position in a spot where I can actually run it down to the other side wings and I actually run all my charging gear down here so it's quite protected then the heart and soul of this system of course is red arc manager 30 I love this system because it really is like four different charges in one side I've got a handy little display unit which I can see exactly what my 12 volt systems up to there's never any surprises it always does its job which I love about it I reckon this 12 volt system is one of the best upgrades you can do for your forward drive because you go the extra effort to make it look like this and use quality gear like this red arc year and it'll serve you any campsite anywhere in Australia I gotta say the camping accessories of today are so easy to install and pack down that even an elaborate setup is pretty easy to pack away each day pretty soon we're ready to hit our first track of the day and just off the main road the tracks are already getting steep another day cops are but that means one thing mate soon as you hit the dirt you lock those ups and preferably turn all your goes on so true isn't what are you a bad they might make this little track called bodies track and um I haven't ridden this one I think is I don't even know what to expect but it's going straight up for the moment soon enough rising up ahead of us is one gnarly hill con it's a combination of rocks shale and some very committing ruts the beauty is I get to go first and see what happens gonna be you hear me all sorts of cocked up go and slightly left up a hill and then there's rock step and then whatever's up there who deal with that later first up like always it's the camera car now the boys are the old GU pretty weighed down with gear and after a few cracks the vendor opted out we the rest of the client having seen that it's time for Sean I'd have a crack all right let's gonna try and tackle this new acquirement stages it's just a massive massive state off cam Burt Rutan till one - me up just a little bit pull bit sketchy Tommy's gonna come out definitely on this track [Music] you can say right there he's tried to straddle those rocks but as he's turned rod is slipped in but the bigger lift and the bigger tires mean that doesn't really matter he's straight up now that rock slab there basically looks like a highway I can tell you it's anything but in fact it's one of the stupid pieces of climb I've ever seen sure I've bit of a wheel lift but he's made it look easy when we go up we go we lift solid state pops Hill golly what a time feel I've strapped on I reckon on that big run-up he'll say you feel when you get there all right Kenny he's got a lot you'll make it you can see right there I'll fallen in that same rudder shot up in a right boot pulled me out hey guy this next bit supercommittee get up and get out of I'm not a work you hit that exact line popped up and then us div they go to the think why about that much and just keep it straight this what you want to almost run into me on this line and there you'll pull away once again the camera just doesn't do this feel any justice that's what the statement pictures I've ever seen and I just can't quite get the d-max into a position where I can give it a red-hot go without putting stress on the front end so straight up I'm going for the winch as we've still got a lot of tracks to tackle nasty very nasty all right sure time to get your game face on oh it's not sketchy at all yep-yep-yep like a we can say stews tried to straddle this right here but he's got a little bit too slow for it and momentum might have helped him out here but I tell you what you don't want to get it right he's got a massive rock at the back I can't see it on camera but there's a large rock the back of Steve's vehicle is just preventing him from getting out that rut we're gonna try a little further to the right and see if we can get around it sometimes a bit of right is the answer however mr. big rock a almost so close he's just that perfect length this a bit more punch it from here punch it from there yeah give that a commuter Drive dude and you're just bouncing I really put something on that's the one that's giving in problem [Music] he stopped a little bit that was a wheeler what are you doing you said commit that Miko drive do you know say to me back a little bit a little bit more gonna go by itself will go much further now you're up you gotta go all the way to the bottom nice now punch it forward about a meter and half before your turn don't know complication that you said punch it oh you get ya give me right I'm gonna like a 60-degree angle bro and chopping this set with me we thought Stu heard this on his first attempt ends at the rear just didn't want to follow the front and now he's in danger of getting crossed up on a really steep section of trout pond sketching in looks really sketchy doesn't feel sticky I'd be inclined to wind him up that little bit yeah though all right you don't know her winching well Justin he's just in one of those positions where two things could happen he could drive it wreck it end up on his side I just on a fifty-fifty man you are he mark and its beauty and I just think we've come so far let's just get him up a Carling yeah and you drive the rest it's he's got no one and that front end it's gonna it's gonna go right before it gets better really it's a lot worse let's keep on the weak side you don't reckon that this right here coughs Arbor is the hardest place per capita in the world for four-wheel-drive tracks let us know put your details in the comments below Sean oh and I will come and visit your hometown will catches their let us know when safety at the forefront of our minds and a short winch being all we need to get you to somewhere safer well that's exactly what we've opted for now it's too hooked up to a winch rope we can all breathe a little easier behind it's still a pretty committing winch to the top ah it's good to be on video with that track under our belts we push on the check out another classic track that we're keen to attempt that is the G track and it starts with a bang I'm Bob is very own answer the gunshot done this before mate and I remember just being out of my control what let you say you go eat before I come in it's this up a bit as well going the way back yeah Ritter read that's well Shawn I've drawn a monstrous way through those rats Pat they are huge let's just put it into perspective here he's running 30 bars on that track and those ruts are swallowing him whole all right I'm just not gonna kind of drive this right there I say it every good campsite make one more no more I think that is um that's everything I have to drive that right I don't jump in the rocks like I did you can probably straddle them and um you might have our chance I didn't say that on that left hand side yeah totally so just straight up one committing drive I record my best plan of attack is to try and stay out of the ruts and maybe straddle my way to the top on this slippery play that is easier said than done my falling here and also the angle those front wheels this is CV country through and through I'm gonna get the winch out because we haven't even started the Jeep track proper yet and look at that the perfect use for an eighty series that's right an anchor point do something useful for once mate too far up over that [Applause] well as you can see suit is not hanging around Twitter lock big old Auto on a GU / top he's up and out of there all right let's move on to the next challenge this little track here is called deep track yeah last time we came here was absolutely down rain and we couldn't even get traction had to turn back didn't get a chance to drive it pretty dried tonight hung has to tell me out in the heart beats of course we go to just crawl on this one little bit of articulation really help sort of the relocker in 19 for the front just yet I really use that one when it and the proverbial it's a thin well just Rock step after rock step big rut after the big rut will you ever look at that flex only heck we go nice and slowly when in doubt I straddle it out I'm not even looking at those ruts in fact I'm just looking at the highway either side and keep my wheels as I was having a spotter up the front can make all the difference it can mean stopping reversing a fraction B I'm changing your direction well that can make all the difference and of course just a little bit of Mambo doesn't go Australia yeah boys this little D max I gotta tell you it blows me away the places I've been where realistically we're never meant for an ifs vehicle now having said that though while Shaun's admiring my drive just out of sight have a bit of a snag have a go that driven that like a boss borrow yeah you're gonna remember that's a two inch less than thirty ones one real ocker in the back and just been able to steer it and he's got a big wheel near oh my god yeah I need some assistance here oh yeah you might I'm just just waiting for a mic well I can do we walk under that wait limbo under it's a big wheel there dude you just sleep did you a little bit slit across yes I was coming up I reckon you know advice people would probably just winter this situation you get out nice dress but I reckon you would have another go this alright yeah you tell me what I can't see much from here to another treetops just come back slowly really slow yeah alright I have a feeling this this could go over if you're not careful I'm just watching the rocks on this side it problem I've got is the pea gravel you see every time I try and reverse you've got a little bit of right hand down and walk back yeah I slide ever-so-slight unloyal into the bank which is making this angle well just get worse and worse so he's gonna go over as I sit here looking at the rocks cars moving over this situation he's just getting a little too unsafe so it's time to pull out the Dominator winch and hook up the back of suti level gran feels pretty good well tell you what that was a bit of a hot start Pavarotti's chu you've seen two ways on how to drive this one mate that's your turn take it away you see the line Stu's taken through that section that caught me out he's come across it now with both lockers he's been just able to Scrabble his way through there whereas got only the one locker did the best I could nearly ended up on my side that's got real ins all about up ahead this track really does step it up a notch and soon we arrived at a very technical little pinch but a vertical drop on this side with about that much space massive rocks deep up here that you're not going to climb up so we're gonna come around miss the drop-off miss the big rock then straddle this huge rock cos Arbor yeah good is it what's hard to seize just can't close the vehicle is to a pretty decent drop-off on the right-hand side good there is yeah good work boys that was the line that's the line that really was the only line for these vehicles and shantay is threaded the needle it's a good Drive now I've got a lot less clearance than Sean okay so I'm really gonna have to pick a perfect line to get through this one this little section as I get closer to it I tell you not only gets tighter those rock steps getting bigger let's give it a go I'm feeling confident what I'm trying not to do here is focus on the drop from the right-hand side just I hope it'll come up before I can just pop that front off and then maybe just maybe give it a bit of Mambo and get the rear up and over I'm done so close we just bottom down it went up and then it went to the side yeah and the thing is I'm coming with you well I feel pretty good effort pretty stoked with that to be honest yeah now while I've had to winch a bit today I gotta say I'm so impressed with other d-max has handled these tracks let's think about this for a second this right here is coffs harbour and it's big truck country and Here I am taking it all on you not work.you all rights to do its thing had to do this he's seen the lines to pick between like 33 nose out of wheel I reckon he's gonna drive this pole track and I better get out of his way he's gonna have it we're getting very close to me he's at the benefit of watching both of us ever crack at this line two distinctly different vehicles however given the ways Jews been driving so far I reckon he's got this one in the bag yeah look at that so much control so precise yep a little bit of wheelspin that's okay yep just pop it up here hey guys right up to you've just done jab track again one of the more committing tracks driver Rachel might know what that was super fun how cool was that super fun track and it's still few little bits and pieces up there there are four I reckon when we get the camp first like before I ask your question yeah think of Emax has ever done that before probably the first let's drive without a joke this is a big vehicle it is it is it is it is pretty stoked we've got as far as we do and I'm very cool I'm just yeah it's a such finding real technical driver here an attraction yeah come here in the Ryan have done that before as it was this waterfall everybody like in a corridor the why I'm the bike to have come here and driven JP alright well what do you reckon beer o'clock yes good night nurse today row letter swag put up the top have a couple of brewskis Christmas takes yep I gotta say that sounds like a pretty perfect plan and given we're just a few clicks away from where we camped last night we decided we'll head back at the same spot again what a place this really is the beauty of Kosova there's more tough tracks here then you can poke a stick at and they all branch out from the same areas with camping very close to hand speaking of camping Shaun's rocking a pretty neat little setup Telus built for a king you know I spend a lot of time underneath the stars in fact I'm go as far to say is about six months of the year I'm out camping and it's really important that you get yourself a really good swag that's kind of stand up to what you need out of a swag now here's a couple of tips whether you're looking at buying the swag for yourself that you need to really consider number one is if you've got enough space there's nothing worse than feeling claustrophobic insider swag so you want to have we have to stretch your arms out a little bit toss and turn a little bit and I'm not feel like the canvas is sitting on top of you now the other really important thing with is making sure you get a swag that can handle any condition while you're out camping so if it's a cold even rainy night of course I'm gonna put these canvas sides down and I'm gonna be protected from the elements alternatively when it is hot there's nothing worse than being stuck in there and you can't get any breeze to circulate through your swag so this one is really good besides both come up and you can actually get the breeze to come right through but this migi mesh will stop any of the mozzies or miggy's from attacking while you try and sleep now this model here is the deluxe escape single from Adventure Kings it really is the ultimate zwei for me because it's really comfortable and it'll keep you safe and protect it from the elements and with that another cracking day at cos Arbor comes to an end when we settled in for the night by the fire with a few beers and plan our next big day tomorrow [Music] as we wake to our final date at coffs harbor our camps attracted a few four-wheel drive enthusiasts we've stopped by to check out the rigs and as we gear up for the day I gotta say the serenity here is amazing we came here haha after that little wake-up call I guess it's time to get ready to hit the tracks and we've got another two classics on the itinerary today starting with Rover trail and then onto a cheerful little number called morbid trail it's gonna be a big day see I've gone the extra mile here with the setup it's probably taken me an extra I don't know maybe two minutes to put this awning wall off the front end the morning the reason I've done it is because coughs is that a heap of rain lately and I don't sort of forecast last night didn't get me what I like is this tongue and groove system you see slide the awning wall in here and there's a perfect barrier here can't rain can't dripping onto my swag and of course because I've put this out in the front it's giving me almost twice the space and I've tucked my swag in under here I've got my swag bag down beneath there I'll put my boots out last night and if it does rain nothing gets wet which means when I pack my swag up today even if this was soaking wet and this was soaking wet wouldn't matter swag stays dry super important cuz we're out here for a couple of weeks filming you always want your bedding my opinion to stay as dry as possible so just by adding this two minutes work gives you heat small room and keeps you really dry he takes me over two minutes back it up to you so I might use it a bit more moving forward I think [Music] [Music] so what I'm loving this that I've so organized and so easy to pack away in the morning the one thing I've retained from the old set up is this clear view drop-down slide one thing I really like about it it's just really well engineered in that it's really safe to use it's easy of course like an old person or a really young person could use it but you're not gonna have any drama with a fridge automatically dropping down soon as the weight is released from the mechanism therefore you're not going to get your finger stuck in there no injuries at camp quick easy and built well that's what you want out of setup [Music] here we go right for trial this is a cool little tracking coughs Arbor probably I would say a lot of people probably fast is one of the easier tracks in cops but it's mugger to start of it it doesn't look that easy no I might that Rock step up in front of you I'm just gonna give it a gallon 17 city has just eaten up the tracks of coughs and this one seems to be no different to AZ sprite I got their goods at big girls not even locked he's driving these tracks like a boss it was a bit Scrabble he started moving off to the left but kept me foot down made at the top Stoke yeah the boys [Music] Stew's taking a slightly wider slightly higher line laid off he's made it through there unscathed nasty angles next up it's another huge rocks tip you want to stop before that big rock step mate and I'll jump out and give you a quick spot they're going that long to be a problem it was like a door buster three years I've ever seen one make here we go you're looking a lot bigger the closer you get let's just see what this looks like shall we have a go out that traced up there yeah it's in the perfect position to basically rip open the side of your vehicle add some words mate you need to come to us mate yeah as the as the panel looking panels the miles why if you touched it flare but I think it'll be okay oh it's a locker lockers if the girls who can't drive cars he's angry and just like a squid sudhi's over the challenge in a cloud of black ink thanks mate is this dusty alright our sickies cost this track I've done it a few times before first time in this particular d-max my plan of attack right now I think is to try and hug this tree but not touch it and then get to the top that's all I'm thinking right now positive thoughts let's get into it hey watch that tunnel really muddy I'm gonna try navigate my way around that stream roof right there yeah okay go on stop she's pretty close yeah and a pretty close yeah those for that front Locker pulled you through and you're really close to this big log it's sort of yeah and it's higher than your slightest your sliders not gonna clear me with the real prospect of panel damage to that door I'm gonna have to winch my way out of this one but getting the winch angled right he's gonna be crucial Rock Ryan connected to a winch to hold the front of his vehicle at the same time that winch is pulling him into a tree so I've actually used Stewart winch from behind but we needed to change the angle of the pool to do that we use a pulley block now they're essential little piece of recovery equipment that one little item which comes there and every Hercules recovery kit can literally be the difference between panel damage and making it through here without a scratch on the vehicle so where this weight in gold and done a little bit of geometry well let's see how this plan works and hopefully we can getting through unscathed or avoid is really when you are looking to do if you take a potentially first might try and get that vehicle off the log and we'll see what happens then we're going to go forward hopefully so what we're trying to do here is use Jews winch to move the rear of my vehicle away from that tree trunk while at the same time I wish myself Foreman released a bit of you your winch rope Graham all right stop stop there no grain if you go forward it's a little bit left to ndm a little bit of left I stopped there I'm gonna reach I need your winch near ground [Music] yeah you're good good yeah that's it well done boys yeah that just with a little bit of pre-planning and getting a good strategy from the get-go we're out here's a couple of winches some recovery gear you know that's why we bring this stuff in our vehicle so we can avoid doing pound damage like that you can still get a vehicle which is at or essentially a two inch lift and thirty ones through tough tracks in Coffs Harbour so I place it have a little bit of the thing before you just go and drive full send it style off one of these rock steps you'll be able to save your pride and joy from doing any panel damage holy here that was committing now Stu's got two lockers to work with he's also got a massive canopy so his line choice is gonna be crucial and he's taken a very daring life skill of it the big wheel don't know that's dumpler telling you say he's trying to avoid that stump but I think it's a bit much [Music] I go back and come across about that much yep yep it's gonna be spectacular that's a big line yep yet you turn turn turn turn turn probably commit to this one it's a really bold move ah and the wheel hit the logging man stop ah ha ha ha I just saw the vehicle sliding doors along I thought hey guys every family outside the wheel and push the vehicle off and it got a bit of traction we've won have done it Tony it's been described matter what's now I don't think it touched him who that might have been a little bit closer than what I would have rights Yelp that was one heck of a draw well done ok with Rover trail done we're on to find our next tough track but the road in between well pretty good fun too ifs life soon enough we're following suit eat to our next big challenge of the day a bit thick and overground late what's going on maybe this is the morbid trial room famous one week Osama super-tough the last time was really slippery was raining in that quiet the stock caught us all that I remain monthly did I I think I did a pirouette with a half Park on the way back damn Pinson precision now you know saw the drift off but this time it will get up hopefully pass the clay and then get into the rail track in it's a doozy like what doesn't kill you makes you stronger except sharks Johnson fear me I'll say that again when you see this track out in front of us yep this one is amping it's a long slippery climb straight up the side of this mountain full of play and shale plenty of challenges here we go start a broader track just that red car you get any moisture on it becomes super slippery this one's defense they breathe I'm just hoping that first characters you've got the advantage to be honest just made that at the bottom on a wick tongue add to the side slightly a lot of concentration going on there wavenet throttle app that's the spirit of guy real statements kitchen good at coffs arbor drift this little water splash right here is just a reminder you can't be too careful in cops on tracks like this a bit of rain can make these places virtually under IVA ball so it's worth checking conditions before you take them on up next the track gets steeper and steeper the camera car the first vehicle up oh my goodness there is a hill of consequence it's so shiny and bouncy all right some of these probably rocks are like bowling balls these are points of consequence I'm not even talk get a bit nervous I'll follow you up a little ways and I might give you a bit of a bit of spice might yeah I'll do that it's actually from a distance of the worst both of those big rock steps but I thought you threw the odd me it looks pretty very close laughs let's get a Slurpee Maria alright that looks like there's a lot of spin pick the wheel off or something happens going up in here it scared the heck enemy thumb came out everything awesome thanks for that enjoy that boys enjoy which one did you stick your tongue out left alright oh it's the right it certainly helped a little bit this section being so Shaylee with nothing more to wet play underneath really doesn't mean momentum here is the key not too fast but certainly keep on it yes all the way to the top we're gaining elevation very quickly on this big line and the track well it just keeps on delivering okay on this drive here I'm gonna try it and stay out of these ruts so they don't fall into them because it's so off camber I fall into these I reckon I'm gonna get out of them yeah boys good was that guy really jumped into that one committed now the problem is jumping out of the ruts and driving up as off-cam but so if you did fall then he would have done this whole side of the vehicle on the bank but he didn't back off he committed backed himself and just use momentum carry through bang better look easy now you can see the stews got the clearance to stay in the ruts here he threads his way through like up boss around the bend well scoffs oh but there's more ruts whether this hill super stable run it out let's try to figure out where this what this you put your tires Sean eyes flexed he's wide through there with a great deal of muscle but a whole heap of soot that big truck he is certainly knows how to turn it on this hill in Kesava is proving to be one heck of a lot of fun I'm loving this well this is Ben Ali not kidding see a button at the end of the day this is cassava and that is a nice Drive why it's getting long as we hit the final hurdle more betrayal this is going to be slippery a slippery set of play steps that soon has the camera car on the which there's very little traction on offer here and I reckon it's gonna take a lot of right food to make it through this bread Kai usually when it's very slippery about a little bit around the last few days to the green locker on was going to try and pick a good line this bit of polymer not too much that I want to be able to the well I love this view what an amazing place and finish a track like that become to a look here yeah usually HEC first time in Casa he's nervous he's nervous he disease Christian coughs is sketchy it is gnarly but when you do conquer tracks like that I've had since it's you know you're living absolutely that's the thing about coffs harbor I mean I've it I've hear a dozen times and I just constantly need to remind myself when I come back I just get reminded how hard cops are there is if you haven't been a coughs it is the full drive Mecca of Australia I'm saying it yeah because there's more hard tracks per square meter in Coffs Harbour and you can find anywhere in Australia I reckon speaking a tough tracks mate you did it you conquered it you faced your fears you went up come on you're always so nervous but I'll shake it like a life we've got to that track just even see it brought back all these memories of um cars gone pear-shaped being on this side and I just in water do it again imagine coming back and the scariest thing was all the first one to drive it as well so I just have to go and work it out and now it's done yeah it was actually one of the AZ attracts you drove here you went straight up like a rat up a drainpipe it didn't pick a wheel up oh those guys let's give me confidence again so good to come back to coughs and take a couple of boxes but if you've never been a coughs our us a little time to put this place on your bucket list it is the throbbing heart of Australian four-wheel drive especially if you like it hard yeah but this place has got an right I think we've just scratched a certain oh yeah yeah there's other tracks like carnage this koala I'm doing we don't make those ones you don't want to walk up and have a look because they're so scary we've got some in an intermediate to advanced ones and um had an absolute last I've had a ball folks you're not gonna catch us here because we're about to head straight for local pub Danny yeah have a off-course the fulcrum suspension on the older max here and I reckon and you'd have to agree the old girl is gone so well on this trip and I tell them equate that to keeping those wheels on the ground at all times and that means getting traction traction means you're gonna go forward and for me you know high five over the top and be able to hear okay but with me that's true that's true but for a little a truck that suspension is not really help jazz it really has might another product and you'd have to be an eagle or to say in the back of old city so I've been rocking the new snatch weekender bag you know that's made out of a really strong canvas PVC lining basically means it's a 100% push forward drive and campsite proof and shadow press it is true what I've proof as well as well I can't wait to show you that bag in about five or ten years because the thing will still be together if you're covered in dust and a few scratches down the side but it's a really well-made bag and that's why we've put so much time and effort into this the Belleville right now brand-new on the flash coating website snatch feeling calm day you get yourself one it'll last probably longer than your truck
