[Music] on game night Nikki Debra Lincoln and myself Dave are going to play the quacks of Quinlin Berg expansion known as the herb witches which means it now goes from two to five players but it's still designed by Wolfgang rush and still published by Schmitz Beal and North Star games so let's draw stuff out of a bag hey Dave hey Deborah would you teach us quacks of Quinlin Berg the herb witches I will crack some kid little birdy curved weeds this is the expansion - quacks will Quinlan berg it pretty much plays the same way if you know how to play that game we're still gonna go over some of the basic rules just in case but it plays the same way in that we are going to have the same starting bag of tiles which is a green and orange and then the the white chips we are still gonna play nine rounds we are still the basic mechanic of the game is still the same you're gonna draw a chip from your pouch and whatever value that's hey it's a weight three so one two three and you're gonna draw again and you basically can keep doing that until you either decide to stop because you don't want your pot to boil over or if you draw a white chip that takes your the value of your way green it takes the value of your white chips over seven in which case your pot will explode you still get to place that last chip we're still going to go through the steps the same way we will then when we're all done this all happens simultaneously when we're all decide that we want to stop or our pot has exploded we will then see did anyone not explode and the players who didn't whoever advance the furthest will roll the die the die is the same then we go through these special ones for their abilities the black and the green and the purple then we do whether you get a Ruby and then same as in quacks if you don't boil over you will get your victory points and be able to spend to buy chips and if you do boil over you will have to choose do you want the victory points or do you want to spend to buy more chips and then at the end you can spend two rubies as many times as you have them to either advance or droplet 1 or turn your flask back over your flask is the same it just allows you at some point in the middle of your drawing if you draw a chip that you don't like you can flip it over and put it back in can it only be a white no it can be any shape that you want but it can't be a white chip that explodes you if you draw a white chip that takes you over 7 you may not flask that would it be any other thing what are the only things that really hurt you I mean there's white on the flask and I believe it allows you to put those true maybe using it like a pink one in a different plane that way he would ever do it but I if you were allowed to do it all right so the difference is one of the differences and this has nothing to do with the expansion set but we were playing with the sexy geek up bits that are they're so good and also the little bit bowls yeah but we also have some the ingredients all have two more different powers to them if you remember in the original game there was a 1 a 2 or a 3 or 4 boards so you had 4 different choices these come with essentially one more board for each so a 5 on one side of the 6 so you have 2 more extra powers and we have an entirely new ingredient locoweed this is loco weed right here so let me start with that loco weed has two different powers one of them is that when you play a little weed the value of the chip is one higher than the number of rat tails in your pot but it maxes at 4 okay so it never higher than a 4 ok we will not be playing that side it's dead I'm gonna I'm gonna read this side we're not playing every time he said we're playing this side all right this local weed it costs 10 and when you play it it copies the previously played chip in value and function so if your previously played chip is a white chip let's say it's a white - then your loco weed is a 2 it's that value but it is not a white chip for purposes of your pot boiling over okay but if the previous chip you played was a blue one and that blue one got you something because it does and you men you draw a local weed that is if you drew another blue one it will move that number and also give you that blue power again right so it's basically it mimics the chip right place before you okay all right now it says colored chip it makes like a distinction is that does that mean something different than a nonterminating of white chips no you're absolutely right I just remember so it copies the function and the value of the last color ship if there is a white chip in front of it it is just a one okay so try that for the weight 3 it is just a 1 oh that's gross good times on a white 3 though every term 3 maybe that's why they say color chips yeah yeah don't worry about did my cobbler which is my pot not but all right all right okay you love it starting with a mistake creation sorry not be sorry all right the pumpkin is basically the same there's still the one pumpkin for three but now there's a six pumpkin for 22 yeah that's pretty crazy and it just lets you use and there is no double side to that that's just one more that's just the new pumpkin exactly yeah exactly I think the other one was the same way welcome to the new pumpkin all right green green so the side we're not playing it's also called the spider isn't it yes for each green chip on the last or next to last position you can place a 1 2 or 4 chip from your pot as your starting chip for the next round so if you have a green 2 in your last or your second-to-last position then when you are done before you put all your tricks back in the bed you can pull any 2 and you may start your next round essentially with that chip any 2 chips well whatever value the greenness those it mean for then you can take it wow wow yeah we're gonna do the Gaby's gonna play this side the less sexy side for each green chip on the last or next to last position you roll it up okay that's easy where does it go here next it we can do like oh we're doing this side okay fair enough like it alright since black is right here one side of the black is the player whose last drawn black chip is the farthest ahead okay moves their droplet one okay so it's it's not do you have more than the other person that's in the old game it's do you have the one that's the most furthest ahead the player who has the chip placed second for this receives a Ruby oh well okay and that can be we're not gonna do that the same where okay I have one black chip then I am the player who placed who has the first ahead and also second for this dad Wow all right right or if I had to but we're playing this is all excited no no like this this is fun all right black chip is 10 when you buy a black chip you immediately give it to the play seat in the bag to the person you're allowed you don't get to keep the chip before doing that you move your droplet forward one space so if I bought a chip I'd move my droplet I would give the chip to Nicky it would go in her back when we get to scoring at the end of each round for the pot for every black chip that the player to your left has I would get a ruby oh wow so all right I'm also I guess potentially muddying your bag with one somebody in your you're helping my bag well Emily the more non-white ships you have yours better sure but they're only ones yeah so you're less likely to draw your higher numbers no I don't know you live that philosophy and you buy nothing the black ships that will work for me William and you venture truffle II um if the player with the black ship in this case Nikki and my example if that black chip is in the last or next to last position Nikki would also get a Ruby oh no you get the black chip and the chance to maybe get a negative mica all right so that's that okay blue all right don't get too excited [Applause] if do you have at least as many orange chips as the number on your blue chip oh wow then you would score these victory points immediately mmm so if you draw a blue one and you have one orange chip or more if you had three orange chips as long as you had at least one you would score one point and if you had two and a 2 you would score 2 and if you had four and a 42 score 4 so if you drew a blue four and you had three iron ships in your bag want me to start on your bag in your pot you would move the blue far that's normal and you would score nothing the side we were playing for every white one chip within the last 1 2 or 4 spaces from your blue chip depending on the number you get a ruby so if you draw a blue for you go back the last four chips oh really it's not it's not spaces okay no it's the last four chips and is for every one of those that is a 1 white chip you would go to Ruby oh right that's that ah red Terrence tells to us every red chip is this value as the value indicated on the highest red chip in the pot so far so if you drew a red for earlier then any red trip you draw from that point forward is a red for Wow and we're not playing doing we know we are playing that hey that's the word play did we hear the one we're not playing okay the we're not playing is when you draw a red chip you draw one more chip and you put it aside then you must use that chip in this round but you can decide when if you wish to use it before or after you stop huh nice but we're getting it but you have to use it that round that is in your bag yeah I don't okay but we're using the older one they're usually the sexy gambling one okay well it's not really gambling it's just if it happens too right all right uh yellow which does not come out right away man Drake man Drake thank you yes the side we're not using is if you give up a ruby you can move the chip few more spaces hmm pretty straightforward it's pretty awesome but instead we're doing this crazy one because it's all so much more expensive when you draw a man Drake you draw one more chip and you add that value to the yellow chip and the chip you drew goes back in the back and you place the yellow that much further correct okay all right I'm gonna put that here cuz it's not available yet and then purple ghost breath ghost breath the cyber not playing is receive as many victory points as the value indicated on your next placed chip nice so if you chose to stop after you drew a purple you would not get that because there is no next place chip but the side we're playing is you're going to add together the victory points all right where all the fields are covered by a purple chip and you will basically buy up to two different colored chips for this value okay that is in addition to your buy okay so it's a way you can get more chips in your bag does that happen during the point phase like you buy your chip during the point phase wait for that one yes no you would do it here during the purple face right once we get to purple you would do that first okay okay so yeah another another opportunity to buy two more chips right yeah it's fantastic purple over that you know over yep because pearl doesn't come out for a while okay so those are the new powers for the things in addition to which as it's the Herb Ritts expansion we have three different types of herb witches and we've got these little silver and gold and bronze it's almost like olimpic they look at clean that allow us to take advantage of one of the three or sorry three of the 15 or so herb witches we're gonna pick one each from each of which you know correct so I will do it again I will read all the ones we're not using and then today the one we're using so the first herb which is the silvers those happen during the preparation phase which is to say before you are drawing chips out of your bag or during while you're putting them in and the way you use these it's a one-time use you're gonna spend these coins so if I'm gonna spend this to take advantage of whatever this power is and then that's it this goes out of the game and I'll just say now that the coins themselves are worth two victory points at the end of the game hmm if you lose bend them I can't imagine we're not all gonna spend them because these are all kind of fun all right this one we're not using is you spend the silver and you draw six chips and decide what order to place them and you don't have to use them all the ones you don't want to use go back in your bag so okay if you drew the white ones that you yep nice all right but you get to use all of them in that order I mean whatever that are for this if your pot has not exploded you can drink any time during as you're adding chips as long as you haven't exploded you can spend your silver chip and you can return the last two white chips back Wow yep all right during the scoring phase you get the full bonus even if you explicitly as if you know do your explosion yeah which means you can still roll the die and whatever but the one we were using in this you may use your flasks if you'd like to after your pot explodes oh so if you draw a chip and it blows it your pot yes normally can't use your flask you have a one-time chance to use it instead okay all right all right these all happen during the buying phase take one of the chips you purchased a second time for free ridiculously powerful but but open everyone that planet you may shop for twice your value Wow no not plan it buying phase you can exchange the last two chips you placed or one chip placed of your choice for the next higher chip of the same color except orange you can't jump from a one who sent the last two chips in your pot if they are not white for example and there are ones you can make them twos and if they're T's you can make them before Wow yep here's what we our plan for every Ruby in your possession your purchase value increases by two you don't spend the rubies you still keep them okay nice alright okay so if you have three rubies and you spend your coin that's another six dollars you can spend that round thanks all right hmm all right so that's that one and there's a Ruby licious version these are all sort of end-around things in this round the price of moving a droplet or refilling your flask is one we're being città to know now do them know when you're figuring victory points you empty out your bag so it's the chips that you didn't draw right and for every different color of two four and six chip remember there's an orange stakes in the bag as well as every purple and turquoise chip turquoise being locoweed you will earn two victory points okay can you do that if your pot explodes as far as I know yes okay because it has nothing to do with whether you bust it or not it's just what's left in your bag right and in fact it does seem like it's a balance like if all you've drawn is your white chips and you know your bag is full of stuff that might get you a lot of points all right face instead of just one Ruby take as many rubies as you have Vicki what what that's what it is maybe it's a space see it that's what it says Wow yeah don't worry cuz we're not pointing but I've played here's what we're playing this is a crazy endgame thing yeah a victory point thing so according to the different number of chip colors that is in your puck not in your mix you can get the following retreat points if you have one to four different colors and this is why this is referred to as colors white is not a color for purposes okay his score okay okay white is all colors right well for now so one two four three points five four point six seven point seven ten points and eight fourteen points all right one two three four five six seven eight so you will not get the fourteen points unless the person to your right this game buys a black Jim and puts it in your bag little sneaky thing all right that is everything the game just plays as normal otherwise oh no that is not everything as Nikita's correctly pointed out we also have this little overflow pot to our pot you can go beyond the end in this game so let's say you reach your last base and you want to keep drawing you are allowed to keep drawing the white chips work the same which is to say if you keep drawing and you bubble over you bubble over so you have you won't be able to pull the die and you won't be able to take both money and victory points which I think you've here at the end is gonna be pretty bad so you know we don't want to do that but as long as you don't bubble over you are gonna just keep placing chips here okay you're reaching your bag where there will be yeah the difference is these chips no longer have their abilities okay so when you draw a blue chip that does not do the blue thing anymore okay alright it does not allow you to look back and see your last place chips or if you draw the black chip it does it's not gonna you don't hand it to the person it no no that's buying it keep draw the green sorry if you draw like a green for right you are not going to do the green power for that right higher there is no last recital last night correct the local weed is not going to mimic anything because there's nothing to mimic okay all right it will be just a value of one what matters is the numbers on these chips because what's gonna happen is when you stop you're gonna add up just the face value numbers of these chips and you're gonna receive half of that rounded against you in victory points okay okay cool you are also considered anyone who reaches this as well as the last space is considered tied for first so if I get to here and stop and both of you get to your pot and you don't bubble over the three of us are tied for first okay it does not further advance you as far right okay so we all get to roll cuz it's the last round or is it anytime it's only it's likely a last round case it's likely gonna be if only the last round or maybe around eight or nine depending on how some stuff comes up and otherwise it's the same game all right all right as in the regular normal game we always turn in an event card over before we start and in this case everyone move your droplet space one for me oh okay there we go anything all right here we go clowns welcome [Applause] okay I'm at five so I have a two and A three okay so I'm stopping I'm stopping trying to stop as well I'm going against my strategy I'll be stopping I could go fifty busting get you money right I busted but see I think we'll see ya allows you to buy better stuff potentially right and you can make up the victory points later the early victory points and also the rat tails anyway uh did you best nope and what do you at nine and you are I'm at nine I also did not bus and I'm also at nine so we are no Nicki you get how many points one and you all sit which one of these is blue I guess this is the one okay you get a point ain't no difference for me I have two points all right and I have what well I hey we're in the preparation phase as anyone wants you don't forget you can use your pup flask after it explodes all right turn over card if you reach a scoring field with the Ruby in this round you get an extra Ruby all right it's it's shining extra bright is what it says what's that one say oh it says the pot is filling up all right thanks Ruby uh rat tail everyone Debra gets a rat tail I know we tell you and I have a very similar board kind of scary come on lucky luck I am also spell I'm taking no chances wait don't forget the Ruby thing - oh sorry exactly a seven young busted Nicki yeah she also there was at least one round where you went where I wouldn't have drawn and you did and it worked out right I played this more with more risk than normally I'm a risk Authority first you know but that's what you kind of got it I gambled this time and it paid off but I also had those two rounds of nothing but white oh that you're somehow that happened and I've still got a head I mean why fit Nicky he actually she actually did really really well that's just good you know that they never came out with you know the three did and I had to add the photo right that's women's I had the same thing this happens to me every game the more rat tails I get to help me the worse I do you know in a weird it helped these two a lot it's supposed to help you it's right yes the point but I mean you just have bad luck on your drawers because okay look at the bag that's ridiculous look at my bag this is what's left right but that's a very Lincoln thing in this game like is this the first time you've lost this game no that's not I'm what I've lost couple okay but it's I don't mess up I bless you hide bust more this game that I had never busted yeah three times which is not common but I kept drawing the three yeah you you were a three white white three mega for a while well and I and I would cash it I'd cashed in more flasks than I've ever been to it but we got extras well show how I specifically because I got those three so early but I mean you know that's the nature of this game it's all randomness I did not build my bag I did get it ended up getting a lot of these yeah but I didn't build my bag as well as I normally do I don't I didn't have as much money ever like this I I I think this would have been the most money I ever got in around the most money I got the game often I'm much higher this and none of us want to play on two of us yeah we were in well over well you you know you pretty much not all the time but you pretty much roll the victory points every time you had the data that was the down room so you didn't get to add pumpkins right I didn't get to do the thing and I'm all set of five pumpkins and also we had a different mix the last time we tried this expansion so last expansion we had some chips that also helped you or and we didn't play with those this time and also this is you know also you got unlucky it with the purples yeah you are often only able to buy one Toki that's true the last time we played this when you had Purple's you ended up not only drawing them but running them late so that they were more valuable and there's again there's a there's always a huge luck factor to the game what you think yeah I like what the expansion adds the locoweed is fun it most this last round it didn't work out with this one but all the other rounds where I pulled it it did it did work out yeah um and then of course all the more choices for the rules of what the tokens do are a lot of fun so I still enjoy this game and I think adding the witches into or just another level of fun to evolve mix right and they're pretty interesting yeah ours too yeah the dinner was this I think we didn't play it this way the last time did we no we did not play that much yeah I I actually kind of liked the one where you can revert the but the bust right isn't that the other side of that yeah no no no it wasn't in there it wasn't him it wasn't in readiness because in theory you're supposed to shuffle them up and just be sure anything well I would say that this actually gave me quite an edge because it took around that I right would have busted on and gotten one or the other and gave me both even though I didn't continue going so that that was a valuable well a lot of that is timing as well remember when I when I use that flask and you asked me you're doing it so early right it's just like well because I drew the three right and even though that doesn't move me forward three I just didn't want to be so if you draw the three in the late in the round let's say you draw the three to bust and then this is fantastic right right right right that was great drawing the three I did that happen to me twice in the game with the yellow yeah that was fantastic good for this for me to end the game with drawing a 2 here and then pulling a 4 really was like that's why I finished I was like that kind of luck I needed it very well you didn't need it you couldn't you could have taken one more trip well if I if I had if I had given up here which is where I was thinking about it I don't think I would about you never know I think I could have drawn differently off all kinds of things couldn't happen absolutely this coming out at the very last weekend was a drag yeah and I didn't have that much more big stuff now these are more expensive idea but I feel like we're dealing with much more expensive some of them ships some of them were the same as we did last time and one was cheaper but I definitely went with the higher value yellows this game because I didn't get the one there's rarely stuff that's expensive you have Yellin no over the floor I mean I like that this four is worth twenty there because my don't work I'm like I'm gonna prep but five is I know nice things right but remember this this 20 is not a four right it's its minimum of five yeah right and it could be an eight makes a good case for having some of these in the bag if you can get them in there with the luckily - right then what will be once I finally described it properly the local weed the idea that it ignores all the white ships and Jana was back to something right now again that could be huge oh wait Nikki's got more points why uh oh no you don't know I'm sorry I thought this was that was the last no this one this look who is a purple I thought you gave it to me no so you have 7 plus 3 is 10 plus 7 is 17 Oh because this is a purple for purposes of the things you I'm scoring okay no I like I like the look we didn't like all the other chips it can be huge or it can be in just a complete nothing right it can be just like a 1 it's funny this this game we didn't get to listen over but I I whatever we did that was slightly different the last time because there was a well I think we were all much higher yes the last time you lapped us yes it was I started around with like 21 rats yes so that was one of the reason I got to the end yeah was I was almost there already and also the last game we had a lot more droplet advancements so with my rat tails I think my droplet was already on nine or ten yeah okay I don't see one two three that's really crazy four five six seven maybe 10 11 12 13 it was like his rat tail started running like here like it's dropping at the 22 space or something like that yeah I never see this is as far as I got well there was none I got that one that's a which really helped well there wasn't a lot of droplet advance yeah yeah it's interesting I def I mean it's the black bean you know they're all different right we're playing every single one of these as a law obviously pumpkins not but different than the base game because we didn't play any of the base game stuff and it's really I think that's what is exciting about the game is there's much much more variety that can come out from these things this is a fantastic one I wish they can't paid off more right I got good advantage of that twice right out of the nine runs but I got twice it was very fun hm-hmm was very fun to pull like a red one ship and have Rabia to at one point four which was exciting well these two are interesting because they require you to kind of double down on those color solutely so you have to kind decide early all right I'm going for Red's I'm going for Purple's to really have them pay off and that might have been the way to go right I think I got sucked in by this too much sure to try to get all the colors maybe did you have them all yeah you did I mean you just didn't get them I ended up when Deborah bought the black that was the eighth color so I did end up with all eight colors but as it turns out you didn't get to cash in right what if what if I don't care what if what if these greens and well the other was good but like what if these greens aren't Reds instead what if I get more what if my bag is all Reds yeah and if I can just get to that four sooner then they're all fours all reds and purples is a really amazing pot but it's expensive I ended up buying a pumpkin because it's three yeah right yep which I did several times of the week well it's nice too because in the base game previous version of the game the red the toadstool I think the basic want the thing for toadstools it plays off of these and I actually like not doing that I mean because it's what I use that to my advantage right that was what I was doing is I'd have a bunch of it would make it would give me two more up to two more spaced one or two pumpkins I gave you about a one bump and three or more pumpkins gives all Reds a tuba yeah that was huge and I like it being different from them I mean it's pretty awesome well it's kind of like any sort of deck build me a bag building game right a lot of it is about trying to find the combos and hopefully join them that's great but you know as well as I do that you can do that and you can draw a red before any of your pumpkins show up absolutely
