[Music] on game night Nikki Lincoln mark and myself Dave are going to play D quacks Albert von Quinlin Berg the game for two to four players published by Schmidt speedo and designed by Wolfgang VAR Sh so let's mix some elixirs hey Dave yes Lincoln we teach us cracks Albert von Quinlan Berg yes Lincoln in DQ VQ we are all quack doctors who have come to participate in medicine making festival thing we have this pot and we have all these weird ingredients like Mandrake and Claus and stuff like that and spiders and we may know we doing know what we're doing we might not max that seemed aside we all have the same we start with the same bunch of ingredients in our bag all right I've laid my now we're gonna have a an orange one and a green one and then a white three 2 white 2 s and four white ones all right these are all gonna be in your bag we are going to play the first round individually but the game actually plays simultaneously so after we do the first round and kind of show how it works we will do that for the remaining rounds and basically once we start the game as I said takes place in nine rounds a little flame and the lantern shows are in red blue and on when it's returned you are going to draw a tile from the bag and you're gonna place it in your pot you're gonna draw an ingredient place in your pot all right the number on that ingredient is how many spaces forward you're going from your droplet so this is a white one and it goes right there that's one space in front and now if I want I can stop all right and keep drawing again it's all simultaneous you can sort of decide on your own and hey I drew this white one and that's one and I can stop or I can keep going and hey I drew the white two so that's gonna go one two you're gonna put it here and leave this space empty alright and I'm gonna keep going and I drew over this way to one two so now I'm here now you are going to stop in one of two ways on your turn you're going to either voluntarily stop or your pot is going to explode because you not mix your ingredients properly your pot explodes if you draw a tile that that Oh pumpkin fruit one I'll put it here if you draw a tile in which the value of just the white ingredients is 8 or higher so more than 700 2 4 5 6 7 so I'm gonna put that there and I'm gonna stop although I do have in theory a green tile in my bag and and another one right well yeah no one is bad I'm at seven yeah one safe tile left no wait you're not I'm at 7 now if I hit 8 I explode he's saying you have one safe house absolutely I'm sorry thank you my bad so I'm gonna opt to stop we're all basically doing stuff all right once we've all stopped we are then going to do this little round evaluation thing right here on the board so the first thing we do is we look to see who got farthest in their pot all right I have gotten to 9 you are always looking at the number the space after where you stopped right all right and note that while these numbers are unique for a while there's - 15 - 16 - 17 so if I have 15 and you have 15 the tie is broken by the furthest 15 and if they're still tied then we're each going to get this bonus all right so this is going to go to 1 or tied players that have gone the farthest into their pot and they will roll this and get it everything on here is good one victory point two victory points the little square number of squares victory points a ruby which i have not explained yet move your droplet one forward oh that's permanent it's permanent every time you move your droplet you are starting from better position for the fault that turns that subsequent transient what is that somatically are we getting more experienced sure I do not know get a pumpkin take another pumpkin tile that's it oh I see there's two one points on there so that's the first thing that's gonna happen then the next thing it's gonna happen is we are going to evaluate the blue the green and the purple ingredients that are potentially I'm sorry the blue of the black the black the green black lady the black degree the purple god that looks blue to me yeah but it's totally like yeah we're gonna evaluate those ingredients in our pot for round one none of us will have those ingredients but the way it's going to work for round two and on first we will and we start with the starting player and do all of them for the starting player and then we will run a next player so the black ingredients you are going to you are going to look at the player to your immediate right and to your immediate left and you are going to see do I have more black ingredients in my pot than they do together just know individually yeah so Nikki's gonna look against versus meeting and versus Lincoln if she has more black ingredients than I do or then Lincoln does then she gets the top thing which is she gets to move her droplet forward one space if she has more ingredients in her pot of that color event both of us meaning she has more than me and more than Lincoln she gets a ruby and a droplet forward the better thing yeah okay so that's how that works all right the green ingredients which we could have in the person which we nope I thought we have a green winner in her bag we do have girl green sorry I'm so dumb the greeny greens which we could have in the first round thank you you are going to get a ruby if the green tile is your last tile placed or you are second to last tile placed so in this case if this orange were green I would get a ruby it's my second to last tile placed if if I had this and this both I would get two rubies that we go because this is my last and my second to last okay okay it seems like it beer a bit you're buying okay that's how green works purple is the one that we don't have yet but purple is going to come in during round three and what purple is going to do is you're simply going to look at the purple tiles in your pot if you have one you get a victory point if you have two you get a victory point in Ruby if you have three or more you get two victory points and a droplet so if you have four purple tiles you don't get the three and the one you just get the three you are always allowed to take of a lesser thing so if you had three purple tiles instead of taking two victory points in the droplet you could take one point in Ruby if that's what you wanted to do but you're only gonna get one thing from that all right next we award Ruby's based on is there a Ruby on your scoring space which is to say I've stopped here my scoring space is this nine and there's a little ruby icon on it so that will get me a Ruby we all start the game with one okay okay so that's another way you can get a Ruby the green tiles will get your Ruby's the black tiles can get your Ruby's the purple tiles can get your Ruby's and you can just always get one if that if your of your next vacant space has a Ruby on it okay then this is victory points you are going to get victory points based on your open space you're scoring space your active space whatever you want to call it in this case one point okay then next thing is money this is the money nine you don't have money that's how much you have to spend for the buying round which is happening now all right no change so you just you get rid of it all buying is how you get more tokens and the cost for things are here so for example the black ingredients are $10 each they're all ones and if you spend it you just do no change there's no anything all right when you buy say the pumpkins are all three for once but you can spend four for a green one but you can spend eight for a green two and fourteen for a green four and remember that's how many you have to jump if you drive was going home all right six ten and 16 for a red one two and four and five ten and nineteen for a blue one two and four the restriction to buying is that you can only buy up to two tokens regardless of how much money you have and they must be different you cannot buy two of the same thing all right there's no reason I think not to buy two if you have the money for it because you don't have change and it doesn't carry her much the next round and but maybe there's a reason to not buy more than one I don't know it's different values of the same color because they're different can I buy a blue one and a blue - no just quite different ingredients you know you can it's obviously limited if they're if they're out of the one that you want that you can afford then that could be a reason why you may not spend okay there you go resource limited when we get to round two the yellow ingredients will come in the pan Drake yeah the way the yellow ingredients work and you'll see they're more expensive is that when you draw a yellow from your bag here's a yellow here the yellow four I drew yellow for all right one two three four but I can look at if the last tile I have before I drew the yellow is white I can now put that back in my bag mmm that's the power of the yellow that's cool but it has to be the tile before you drew the other previous one okay so that's how yellow works and then in round three the purple will come out if you'll rotate that for me please yep purple is pretty simple explain this one though didn't you yeah did I oh yes I did nevermind think oh you explain it when you did those ah correct thank you so that's not going to come out here until around three right all right yeah I didn't explain something here this is what happens this is gonna happen then this then this and then the final cleanup around what you haven't explained yet these two things getting victory points and buying tokens if you have exploded instead of stopping you only get to do one of these two things not both okay right however you still get to do the thing based on where you explode it so let's say I'm gonna draw again and I drew the one but I'm stupid cuz I I'm gonna draw again okay here's my white three one two three I blow up but I can at the end of this round ten $13 or trip $10 retribute points and I will get this Ruby in the Ruby round the only thing that the exploding thing hurts against you is a and forced you to stop but B you cannot do both of these things it was the crust out day and you cannot start and you cannot compete for the die Lincoln is correct when you when we're competing for who's for the spot on the die it's only non exploded Potts thank you yep okay Dave did you explain these the blue and the red I think you've done it everything else oh no you're right I totally didn't I just I'm all over the place blue when you draw a blue depending on the number on it one two or four okay if you draw one you then will draw it off from your back one if you draw two you will draw two if you draw four you will draw four so you will immediately draw that many tiles from your bag and then you may place one of them okay any one you want you don't have to place any of them you can just put them all back in your bag if you want but only one if you draw four you're not playing two or three or four you're just playing one of them so that's how blue works and red is when when you draw a mushroom you are going to move that many spaces so here's two we're gonna go one two all right and then I'm gonna look and see how many pumpkins I have on my board you have one so you get to go up one if I have one or two pumpkins I get to move that one extra space before I draw again if I have three or more I would go to extra spaces gotcha okay so that's how red works okay how I explained all these I think snow jumping around any grades right Green was the oh no you didn't say that one that's the chip I did oh yeah you did it when you did this I did okay then the last thing we do is you may at the end of the round spend two rubies and you can spend as many reviews as you have but it costs two rubies to either move your droplet forward one space or fill up your flask which I have not explained yet because I was winning until we got to this we all start with a flask and it's full a flask is kind of like a reroll alright and it allows you to put a white tile you've drawn back in the bag however if the white tile you drawn explodes your pot you cannot use your flasks because it's already blown up its yes its success its successfully added to your pot and then you can decide let's say you're fortunate to draw that three at some point you can get rid of it and be comfortable that you won't go over then you can use this to do that and then you put the but you put it back in the bag it doesn't know it goes back in the bag so you could still draw it again yeah it gives that's what I'm saying it's a career oh all right that stays empty for the rest of the game until you spend two rubies here although there's a card in here that turns it over hey what are these cards that you haven't explained yet yeah these are event cards we were gonna from this big ol of deck of event cards we're just gonna draw nine we're gonna turn one over at the beginning of every round and it's a global event that will affect everybody at the very end of the game after round nine and round nine we played differently round nine is still simultaneous but it's one at a time so for round nine we're all gonna take a towel we're all gonna bring out wrong information because it's like you're playing chicken right yeah so that when you want to stop you're gonna reach in your bag and you're gonna show empty hand and then you're out for that round at the end of round nine you are then gonna convert two rubies for a point and five dollars because remember you're gonna be on a file space instead of buying so be aware that if you explode at the end you're not gonna get both of these you're not gonna get your victory points and your money and that could be a lot of points if you're here at the 9:26 for example you're giving up you don't get either of them if you blow up on the last round you get one but not the other right twenty six is five points right so if you blow up instead of getting fourteen points you're only gonna get nine right so this there's that could be the game yeah yep last but not least I have not explained the rats yes so from round two on after we flip an event card we will then check for rat tails there are little rat tails on the board see right here and right here and the way the rat tails work is you look where you're scoring token is in relation to the lead player okay and for example yellow is got zero rat tails even though he's two points behind but there's one rat tail between brown and silver so at the beginning of the round because at the end of the round these are all going back in your bag I would take my little rat token and I would add one so I'm going to start from here and silver is two so silver would be start from there okay a little bit of socialism - yeah they help you catch up a little uh yeah okay so if the rats up here and then later on I spend something to advance my drop does it no the rat will be gone at the end of every warehouse all right well that goes we said everyone all right cuz that's gonna be dynamic it's based on what the score scores are I dama cred right and the droplet cannot advance during the round okay only when we're when we're reassessing stuff all right that's the game let's give it a shot the rules say that the start player is the person who most recently cooked something did you make breakfast this morning no but I made the onion dip for everybody would you consider that cooking well there was no flame involved that's cookin I'll call cooking so I cook with flame this morning how did you but you start to nurse it happens as the star player turns over and have that card okay and that's basically the start player markers this deck goes around for each person everybody move your droplet one space forward the actual thing is the pot is filling up is the name of that card so we're just gonna start here permanently okay and then as I said for the first run special we're gonna just go at a time to walk it through so Niki's is gonna go by yourself okay here we go one white yep gardens bicycle yes that's good this is Snowberry by the way I didn't sit but firstly I can't remember I'm never gonna remember it another one too cuz it's got a two on it correct alright so you coming up short with the white the snowberries you know that's the downer like I really need to like not get choked up too so Nicky doing that was graceful this was great yeah yeah oh that last turn my first pulse were all I would have wrapped it like 20 I think it was bad I mean the 6-3 9x4 right the toadstool pumpkins seems like that's clearly the good $9.00 by because in addition to giving you something else you don't have to draw for the white that red could be a two instead of a one depending on when you draw it yeah instead I went for the two green thinking I'm just gonna try how many red I drew before my pumpkins can I have one yeah I thought I was just gonna go for a bunch of greens and and some of them you see after a while like maybe these blues or the go ahead don't work as well and tell you they don't work great early maybe even tell you because you have two more stuff yet activate jump right yeah then I have all these yellows in class yellow four and I think once the entire game I was able to pull the white with them because every time I drew a yellow there wasn't a white behind it Wow so the yellows are great when they work but the Blues always work the crow head always works when you draw you know when you draw it you get to see more time did you play them or not right the point is they're always activates yeah it's true no it doesn't it has to fun as I hope they had that one where I stacked like three twos in a row it was kind of cool but right still I would have liked to but you know I really like the game it's the third or fourth time I played it now right it's very I love the bag building aspect of it it's really fun I I thought I was gonna play a little bit more bold and dry I I kind of chickened out right there on the go I quit I'd like to flatter you didn't matter with you chicken dinner right but if you can if you could it's true I mean he didn't make any different at one point because of an event card a twenty rat tail jump on you yeah that was I still came in third but that's how she caught up she was right behind you but she didn't catch up she just came in third right right I mean this game specifically so it seems like when you're at that point I don't know why you would risk anything at that point you're well I mean I didn't I wasn't counting how many points I was ahead you guys but I I mean yeah you get to choose right the last round I guess I could have gone to the end because I wouldn't be able to spend I wouldn't lost six points right right maybe seven if I made it to the end but I did draw as soon as I checked it to see what I would drawn I think it was a two so it wasn't too what's it like it was gonna be I would have stopped right one two three four five yeah would have stopped I mean it seems to me I know the rat tail thing is a like he's a social and social is it that means attend to their needs it because otherwise there's a real rich get richer thing going on here right right when you do well you can buy more stuff so you do even well again now not automatically there's luck and you can bust it depends on what you draw and how you do it and also you and I we didn't know what we were doing all right this is definitely one of those games were and hopefully a experience will also help you right the only I definitely would I mean the thing that's cool is I definitely want to play again and I definitely want to drive do the different combos like for example I felt wow why did no one ever buy purples like for the next game whether it works or not I think I would buy a purple every time it's 9:00 though that was the problem and it doesn't come out till like round three yeah buy a purple and something I had already kind of I've already banked on the pumpkins you know I mean I was like I'll do that and maybe I'll get lucky um you know right it seems to me like that's pretty great I would agree like to be able to chain so what happened in the first game I think I played I just rolled a lot of pumpkins I kept rolling pumpkins never and so I was kind of building for that right but it didn't happen I actually rolled a bunch of victory I think I probably wrote six victory points or something in this game right by victory points which is a lot ultimately well I think you rolled seven of the nine times so I'm not sure it mattered regardless again right right because I definitely rolled on the last one with Nikki right yeah no that said yes we're gonna say oh well okay kind of thing do these things have that these are all the one level each of these books have a two or three and a four level the two new level is on the flip side is it just it's different story interesting more complicated kind of thing yes and though the pumpkin always tastes the same yeah this looks like huh yeah what do you think that is one let me say hey let me find out the ghost breath one ghost breath looks like you get you draw one you get really yeah is it purple yeah I think you get a token point Anna Ruby what do you want go spread saucy well they're really yeah ghost breath two for one purple chip you receive one black chip one victory point in one Ruby when you play it at the end of a round if you evaluate right then this is what I'm wanting it i discard it oh no it must be if it's in phase B yeah right here in phase B you may discard purple chips meaning they go out of the game oh and you may exchange that from in a black a black chip a victory point and a ruby for to you get a green one but they have to amount they have to be on your board for you to discard them they trying to transform themselves right a pair of them will transform into the eye a chips right plus victory point three will get you a yellow for Ruby I mean right to move your droplet two spaces ahead okay so they have interesting stuff right right but they don't do anything else right in other words if you don't spend them they just sort of sit there what is the what is the Mandrake to Mandrake level to doop do doop doop do Mandrake said to if you draw a yellow chip from the bag move the next chip that you late why saz far so that's two tricks it is drawing after yellow trip therefore is move say four spaces ahead neat the value of the other chips are of no significance it just means the next trip you next ship you draw is double so you can get a bunch of ones yeah the red toadstool well you can only get to a turn right I mean unless you get some sort of bonus thing that gets you ready to help me too if you draw a red ship from the road from your bag place it next to the pot off to the side after you have stopped drawing chips whether forced to whether you explode it or whether you stopped you then have the option of putting that chip in this round after the last chip leg or you can save it for later round and leave it beside your pot all the following rounds you have the option of placing it in your pot after you have stopped drawing so if you had a bunch of pumpkins there you could really if you have multiple red chips now you're only a month or you can decide individually fruit juice no you're not gonna go anywhere the red chip doesn't have the pumpkin ability anymore oh but all right well what's the blue - blue - if you draw a blue one chip you still receive all victory points and you can go shopping even if your thing explodes with the next drawn chip however you still cannot roll the die if you draw a blue - from the bag all of the above still applies in the next two drawn chips and if you draw a blue four the next four chips the actions do not add up if a blue chip is late after a four is late after two you don't get the action for that chips you're drawing and then the yeah poison you can see because it's not the : that doesn't turn in and just regenerate anymore oh that's cool there's singles it's a way of giving yeah yeah and then there are threes and fours that are like in theory even more probably advanced and complicated and weird and I could I mean even well we were going simultaneous for almost all the rounds except you know first and last you can see how this could just really oh yeah totally really fast totally we're doing a lot of demonstration and yakking and making sure but and showing off what we were doing right explain what does fall in that category of the game where you you just have to trust everybody yeah I know what I'm just thinking like I don't mean that as a malicious way but like you can easily you're talking about you could just easily forget to do something or make a mistake well and I you know for me my problem is it's humid today and these are sticky to me yeah like you know I accidentally dropped two several times which sucks you know so I just put them back in and redid it but st. oh yeah yeah they're very oh yeah I guess one final thing um different look at that on the back oh who's that wow it's like test tubes so you're tracking something here that gives you something so it's like a bonus thing there's a second droplet token that we didn't take out but in this version you put a droplet here and a droplet here and every time you have a chance to move your droplet you can choose which one you want to move and if you move on the bottom track you just get that thing so ruby victory point a blue one two points a black one you just basically pick that stuff out instead of moving here yeah either/or yeah I wonder if it's cool that's if you spend rubies or if action cards or anything really anything that allows you to move your droplet you can decide which one you want to move mm-hmm I like that that's great yeah if you can get up there but again right that could cause those just never dies a lot like the purple Trek on you get you get nothing and then you start to gain a bunch of little bonuses they don't chain quite the same yeah it almost feels like you're giving you're almost giving up the right to roll the die if you do that if you you know penny how far back you are like the rat tails might save you in that regard although you're gonna get points here yeah there's and you're gonna get sometimes - that's true ingredients 50 points down here that's a lot that is yeah but for what one two three four five six seven eight nine ten eleven twelve drop it so that's one two which are points there's only two points no because it's remember it any every droplet moving move forward also moves you forward of course but I'm saying only I'm but it is bumps you up a lot get you past all those my tiny increments to the point a to point in spending yeah that's true you're right up down some bucks rather use it to get the chips alive it also our hazard about getting the chips that's what I'm getting three tips in attorney too right that's true well I want to get a little ways up yep every other one is a chip once you get higher right only one is it Ruby right and also it just depends on what sides of the books you're using and what chips you value or not value all right I mean II to do this guy so you get a lot of Ruby's to help you lose drops well I'm saying unless you're here right it just depends on your right it depends on what side you are yep
