and welcome back i'm robert breaker and today we're going to talk about the law of israel so get your bible out and turn with me to two places deuteronomy 4 44 and joshua 24 26 that's deuteronomy 4 44 and joshua 24 26 now i don't know why but it seems like for the last couple of months a lot of my sermons have been like a continuation of the week before and uh so i want to call this one i guess part three but i haven't put in the title part one part two part three but two weeks ago we looked at the land of israel boy that got over a hundred thousand views now it's quite amazing then we looked at the nation of israel and i kind of made that a part too because the land is land for certain people will what people so we had to do a kind of a part two and we looked at the nation of israel and the nation and consists or is made up of the people so we looked at what the bible called the people of israel who they were and things like that and then i was going to go to a completely different subject this week but the lord laid this on my heart and it's kind of amazing to me how the lord does things some sometimes he'll just put in your heart a message and then he'll confirm that's the message he once preached and he did that this week with emails and phone calls and and things like that letters in the mail of talking about the law since we're on this subject of israel let's look at the law of israel and the importance of knowing what that law is and the reason i'm doing this video is because well i want you to understand who israel is but i also want you to understand that god chose the people of israel the nation of israel for a specific purpose to give them a certain land but he also wanted to give them a certain law and that law was for them and that's what the whole first five books of the bible are they're called the law the law of moses genesis exodus leviticus numbers deuteronomy and the law is given by god and we need to know that and i want to talk about that today and i want to talk about how there are some people out there that still think that we are under that old testament law and i don't understand how people think that i don't understand how a person could think that we are still under the law so we're going to talk about the law who it's given to and whether it is still in effect today now in the eyes of some people it is but in the eyes of god in the bible to the church it is not so i want you to understand that a lot of people today say we have to keep the old testament law to be saved and so their thinking is that the law is given to the church and that the church is saved through keeping the law i'm going to show you why that is not true it is not the keeping of the law that saves us but the law was given for a reason and i'd like to get into that today hopefully help you hopefully this is for people that you know have never thought about this some of you might say well this will be boring because i've heard this before well i'm going to put some extra nuggets in it so please listen please learn and all i want to do is as the bible says rightly divide the word of truth there's some folks out there parading around pretending to be bible believers that say there's no such thing as dispensations in the bible well you've got a mess on your hands if you don't preach and teach and believe in dispensations as we'll see today because if there are no dispensations in the bible then we are indeed still under the old testament law and that law is brutal that law is brutal i'm going to see that today and if we're still under the old testament law then we've got problems so let's go to the bible and let's look at this deuteronomy 4 44. we're going to look at the law of israel today deuteronomy chapter 4 and verse 44 we read these words and this is the law which moses set before the children of israel and these are the testimonies and the statutes and the judgments which moses spake of the children of israel after they came forth out of egypt so the law was given to moses now if you know your history you know what happened there was the exodus and then with the exodus god used moses to lead the children of israel out and then god gave to moses his law and that's the law of moses so in the bible it's referred to a lot as the law of moses then other places called the law of god uh very i tried to look up the law of israel i didn't see where it said the law of israel but i did see some places where it said it was the law and uh the context was it was given to jacob or it was given to israel now let's go to joshua 24 26 so i want you to know that this was for them god gave a specific law now a law is for a nation now the jews are an interesting thing because they were a nation but they were also a chosen people so it was a state setup thing the law of the state of the nation but it was also a religious thing so israel literally had joined state with religion and so it was a religious state and that's odd because a lot of nations in the world today they said we don't want to join church and state we don't want church and state to be joined together well yeah because a lot of times if the state becomes corrupt then they corrupt the religion well we don't want that we want what is religion well religion doesn't save us but religion claims to be a way of living and a lot of religions say live right and do right which is a great thing now that doesn't save us but you've got to be careful because often times the world is against god and the bible so a lot of laws that are given by the world are anti-biblical laws so the law is a good thing in the sense that it is the mind of god it is given by god to moses and it helps us understand what god says is moral and immoral right and wrong if you get a chance check out my videos on youtube that i did about morality and morals and ethics and things like that but it's very important that we do read the old testament law a lot of people tell me well if the law is not for us today then i'm not going to read it well do read it because there's a lot of things in it that show you that in god's mind this is wrong that's wrong this is wrong that's wrong and it helps you to understand what god wants us to do right okay but the law and keeping the law isn't what gets us to heaven and we'll see that more in this video but joshua chapter 24 and verse 26 joshua 24 26 we read these words and joshua wrote these words in the book of the law of god so it's called the law of god it's god's law god gave the law to the nation of israel so if they wanted to obey god they were to obey the law back there in the old testament and joshua wrote these words in the book of the law of god and took a great stone and set it up there under an oak that was by the sanctuary of the lord and that stone was a witness verse 27 and so god gave that old testament law and that old testament law it was actually written down it was written by moses you know genesis through deuteronomy written down by moses then we have the book of joshua and joshua wrote some things and then as you continue in the old testament you have all these jewish writers now let's go to nehemiah chapter 10. what god did with the nation of israel is god sent them out sanctified them and set them apart for him and god said i'm going to make sure that these people are my people and i'm going to give them a law and that as a nation they are to follow but then look at this this is interesting god said and i want them though to willingly obey that law and so do they willingly obey well we find often times that they fell into sin so man does have a free will i do not understand how anyone could say man doesn't have a free will when all throughout the old testament it's the history of men disobeying god and falling into sin i find that so funny and sad what does that prove that proves we have a free will that men can choose to do right and wrong so under the old testament law god said now this is going to be my law this is what i say is holy and just and righteous and good and this is what you're to do now what do you do and the children israel said okay we will follow your law and that became an oath they made an oath with god the children of israel that we and our children will follow this law so look at nehemiah chapter 10 and verse 29 nehemiah 10 29 they claimed to their brethren their nobles and entered into a curse and into an oath to walk in god's law now why is it a curse well we'll see that here a little bit later because paul tells us why in the new testament the book of galatians but the law is a curse because if you don't keep it god says all right then i'm going to discipline you i'm going to curse you if you don't do what i say so if you disobey the law then you get a penalty we live in a world today which we are under governments and governments have laws and they say now if this is the penalty or the curse if you will if you break this law so if you're speeding and you're caught going 20 miles an hour over it's 400 ticket that's the penalty that's so law carries with it a curse which is a penalty that you have to pay for breaking that law and that's kind of sad that's why it's best not to break the law and not have to pay the penalty but it says here in verse 29 they claimed to their brother and their nobles and entered into a curse and into an oath to walk in god's law so they made an oath with god we will walk in your law to walk in god's law which was given by moses the servant of god and to observe and to do all the commandments of the lord our god and his judgments and his statutes so that's what they did they made an oath to walk so it's a it's a way of living it was a walk with god and the way that god said to walk was him was through this law today we think about the law as the ten commandments and we'll look at that here a little bit later and look at what the ten commandments were but there was an oath made between god and those people and god said okay you agree with me that this is the law then you're gonna follow that and that's what they did but all throughout the old testament we find them continually rebelling against god and his law and that's sad why would they do that well that's the heart of man is is deceitful and wants to do wrong unfortunately exodus chapter 19 and verse three through eight let me read this with you and if you get a chance read this with me as well and i want you to see that it was called a covenant so god says it you made an oath to me this is our covenant to do this thing and so there was a covenant made so that old testament law is a covenant made with israel by god and they made a covenant and the covenant was basically god says if you do this then i'll bless you if you don't i'll curse you and that's what it all boils down to so in exodus chapter 19 verse 3 through 8 and moses went up to god and the lord called him out of the mountain saying thus shalt thou say to the house of jacob and tell the children of israel you have seen what i did unto the egyptians and how i bear you on eagle's wings and brought you unto myself i just reminds me of revelation 12 when he's going to do that in the future when the antichrist takes over a lot of things in the old testament that have a corresponding thing in the new testament verse five now therefore if you will obey my voice indeed and keep my covenant so it's called a covenant it's a covenant of works god says these are the works that you have to do to please me that's what the old testament was if you will obey my voice indeed and keep my covenant then you shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people for all the earth is mine and you shall be unto me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation these are the words which thou shalt speak unto the children of israel verse 7 and moses came and called for the elders of the people and laid before their faces all these words which the lord commanded him and all the people answered together and said all that the lord has spoken we will do and moses returned the words of the people unto the lord and the lord said unto moses lo i will come upon thee and think and on and on and on so the love was more than just god saying here do this and a lot of it was don't do this thou shalt not thou shalt not the law was more than just that the law was here's what i say now what do you want to do and the people said you know what god because you're our god because we love you we will do that and they took an oath and they made a covenant with god that they would do it and that they would be cursed if they didn't do it what a thing to think about exodus 24 so the law better have been good i mean who would who would swear an oath to keep a bad law and god says he can't lie and that he's so holy that he can't do anything wrong that it's a good law it's a good god so it's a good law so they swore to do a good law they basically swore to do right according to god now exodus 24 7-8 and he took the book of the covenant and read in the audience of the people and they said all that the lord has said we will do and be obedient then verse 8 and moses took the blood and sprinkled it on the people and said behold the blood of the covenant which the lord hath made with you concerning these words now i don't have time to give all of the verses but the bible says that when that old testament that's why we call it the old testament when that old testament was set up it was set up with blood and there were the levitical priests and god took the priest and he put some blood on their right ear and and on the right toe if i remember right but he also put some blood on the book of the law itself and so the first testament was dedicated with blood so there was a dedication of that law through blood and god said no so you made a basically he said you made a blood covenant with me that you're gonna obey me and they said yes sure we'll do that isn't that interesting well that's what the old testament taught and that's what the old testament teaches and that's what happened now let's go to leviticus 26 12. so the penalty what was the penalty what would happen if they didn't follow through with that blood covenant that covenant of we will obey and by the way it was all about obeying it was all about obeying what god said that sounds like works to me it was a covenant of works you got to do this or else well leviticus chapter 26 and verse 12 says this leviticus 26 12 and i will walk among you and i will be your god and you shall be my people i actually would like to read down to verse 20 but i would ask you if you would to pause here and read this entire chapter because it's brutal god basically says to israel if you don't keep my law this is what i'm gonna do to you and it's kind of scary so there was some fear involved under the old testament it was like you gotta you gotta do right or all this is gonna happen to you i'm sure they were scared they wanted to do right and they did their best but they were afraid oh am i doing right we're under grace today bible says perfect love casteth out fear we do what we do because we want to not because we have to but in the old testament law it's something that they had to do now leviticus 26 we read verse 12 verse 13 i am the lord your god which brought you forth out of the land of egypt that ye should not be their bond man and i have broken the bands of your yoke and made you go upright bonds they were in bonds they were slaves in egypt but if you will not hearken unto me and will not do all these commandments verse 14 and if you shall despise my statutes or if your soul abort my judgments so that you will not do all my commandments but that you break my covenant it's a covenant made with god i also will do this unto you i will even appoint over you terror consumption and the burning egg you that shall consume the eyes and cause sorrow of heart and ye shall sow your seed in vain for your enemy shall eat it and i will set my face against you and you shall be slain before your enemies they that hate you shall reign over you and ye shall flee when none pursue with you and if you will not yet for all this hearken unto me then i will punish you seven times more for your sins seven year tribulation i don't believe in a three and a half year tribulation i believe in a seven year tribulation that sounds like it right there and it goes on and on i don't have time to read all that but i'd ask you to read that because god is saying that this is what i'm going to do to you there's a very famous verse there in verse 19 and i will break the pride of your power and i'll make your heaven as iron and your earth is brass have you ever heard anyone say i'm praying to god it's like it's like it's like iron i can't break through god can't hear me well today we're saved god can hear us because we can enter boldly into the throne of grace through the blood of jesus so thank god for the blood of jesus christ but this whole chapter like i said read it when you get a chance is god saying this is what i'm going to do to you if you break this covenant you made with me israel and again remember it's israel okay now let's go to deuteronomy chapter 31. i want you to see what it was like under the old testament it was hard it was a law that god gave and god said this is what you do and it it was brutal there's there was a lot of things in there and it seemed like it was a hard thing to do hard thing to keep but they were told to do it and they would be blessed deuteronomy 31 9 through 13. deuteronomy chapter 31 verse 9 through 13 we read and moses wrote this law and delivered it unto the priests the son of levi which bear the ark of the covenant of the lord and to all the elders of israel and moses commanded them saying at the end of every seven years in the solemnity of the year of release in the feast of tabernacles that's interesting when all israel has come to appear before the lord thy god and the place which he shall choose thou shalt read this law before all israel in their hearing gather the people together men and women and children and i strangers that has within thy gates and it goes on there and it says and fear the lord your god and observe to do all the words of this law i just find that interesting i just had to throw that in here because it says every seven years there's a future seven years that's going to take place for israel according to the prophecy of daniel and uh we know that as the time of jacob's trouble the tribulation period the last three and a half years called the great tribulation but the whole thing is a tribulation seven years and then something happens at the feast of tabernacles well if you know your bible and you know the seven feast and i don't have time to get into that it looks like the rapture has got to come on the feast of trumpets then is the feast of atonement then it's the feast of tabernacles and tabernacles would correspond with the battle of armageddon when jesus comes back and tabernacles among his people for a thousand years and a thousand year reign now if you don't know your bible this is over your head okay but if you know the bible you know what i'm talking about you know what the bible prophesies and it's just amazing to me that our belief in a pre-tribulation rapture and a pre-millennial coming of christ it's found in the old testament every seven years you do this and then on this day and it's like wow there's a future seven year period at the end of that seven years i'm sure when jesus comes back the first thing he's going to do is okay now everybody get together and i'm going to have him read the law again that'd be interesting but anyway deuteronomy chapter 33 because he comes back to rule over israel deuteronomy chapter 33 now verse one through four and we can get into this i just had to read all these verses real quick before we can get into our study deuteronomy chapter 33 verse one through four and this is the blessing where with moses the man of god bless the children of israel before his death and he said the lord came from sinai and rose up from seer unto them he shined forth from mount peron and he came with ten thousands of saints okay now when is this this is actually a prophecy of a future events from his right hand when a fiery law for them yea he loved the people all his saints are in thy hand and they sat down at thy feet everyone shall receive of thy words moses commanded us the law even the inheritance of the congregation of jacob so the law is to israel it's a jewish law to jews it's for them not for us today it's for them now how do you get under the law one of the questions that people ask is brother breaker if if i wanted to get under the old testament law and you shouldn't because we're not under it today god is not using the law for today that was for the jews and it will continue to be for the jews i'm pretty sure the jews today many of them don't realize that jesus christ was their messiah and they reject jesus so they're still trying to continue on in that covenant the only problem is they can't they can't sacrifice for their sins and they can't do a yearly sacrifice in the temple of jerusalem because there's no temple yet in jerusalem but most jews if not all of them still think that they are still under this old testament law that's why when the rapture of the church takes place the jews will go back and have their temple rebuilt i don't know if they rebuild it before the rapture or right after but that's why they rebuild it because they want to say now we're back doing what the law said making these sacrifices for our sins so you read your bible and you put two and two together you understand the jews still believe that they are under this covenant but according to the bible are we under the covenant today when i say we i mean the church is the church under the old testament law see the law is all about works well under the church age where we are today where god is dealing with the church it's all about faith not works so today it's all about faith faith and not of works so i want to show you dispensations and there's two dispensations for for sure there's the old testament and then there's the new testament and the new testament starts with the death of a testator we'll look at that here in a minute but when jesus died the bible says that started a new testament so we're not under the old testament we're in the new testament so that's two different dispensations and according the bible we're no longer under the old testament law we're under grace let me show you some verses on that here in a minute before i do let's go to leviticus chapter 12 verse 2 and 3. how did a person get under the law well he had to be born into the nation of israel and then he had to be circumcised leviticus chapter 12 says speaking of the children of israel saying if a woman have conceived seed and born a man child then she shall be unclean seven days according to the days of the separation for infirmity shall she be unclean in the eighth day the flesh of his foreskin shall be circumcised so in order to get under the law in the old testament you had to be circumcised now you know what a lot of people today don't know what circumcised is and it's not something that i'd like to talk about how do i explain circumcision to someone that doesn't know what it is basically a child that's eight days old they take his male part let's just say it that way they take his manhood they pull it out and they cut the tip off that's called the foreskin and that is the covenant that puts someone under the old testament law in the old testament and all the jews were circumcised and it was male circumcision there is no female circumcision in the bible god does not demand female circumcision okay that's a completely different subject and topic and it's barbaric and it's gross and it's disgusting but the male circumcision under the law scientists have said wow that's actually a good thing because a lot of these people were out in the desert sweating all day and when they got dirty imagine how dirty their private parts were and then they go into their wives and they're spreading disease but and if they were circumcised then there's less to get dirty and there's less so it's really like wow there must have been a divine god in heaven that knew and said you know i want you all to do this because it'll keep you cleaner and you won't get as dirty and have as many diseases so it looks like there's a god in heaven that was thinking about these things matter of fact he under the old testament law said you can't eat swine's flesh which is what pork why well scientist has discovered there's a thing in it i think it's called trichinosis trichinosis is a worm that lives in pigs and if you eat swine's flesh if you eat pork and you don't cook it all the way you could get this uh horrible worm in you and get sick from it so god gave the old testament law and he's so supreme and so all-knowing and all-powerful he's warning them because he knows this can get you sick this will get you sick so do this do this do that so god is amazing and the law was amazing now are we under the law today i'm going to look at that here in a minute but when i talk about the law most people think about the ten commandments so what i'm going to do right now is i'm going to put up here the 10 commandments and in order for to save time let me go ahead and turn this off and after i've written it all up here then i'll turn it back on okay and that way we'll have it all up here okay so here are the ten commandments okay briefly and i didn't put thou shalt not although i love the king james bible and how it says thou shalt not thou shalt not thou shalt not but for sake of time i just wrote it up here the ten commandments these are found in exodus chapter 20. thou shalt have no other gods before me i shall make no graven image don't take god's name in vain what is that don't say g d this and g d that okay remember the sabbath day whoa wait a minute that's a little different but we'll get to that here in a minute honor thy father and mother the sixth commandment don't kill seventh don't commit adultery eight don't steal nine don't lie ten don't covet don't covet what's not yours so here's the ten commandments now these ten commandments are part of the law of moses and there's two parts of the law the two parts of the law are what we call the moral law and then there's the ceremonial law there were feasts that they had to keep and there are certain ways that they had to do sacrifice as they went so the moral law the majority of the ten commandments are the moral law the majority having another god before that god and making graven images about him that's immoral um taking god's name in vain is immoral doing these other things if you sin and do these and things you shouldn't that's immoral but this one right here is very different when he says remember the sabbath day that's not a moral issue that's a ceremonial issue and a lot of people today and i get emails from people i get all the time i get people contacting me and saying robert breaker you are wrong we are still under the old testament law and i go no that law was for israel are you israel and the first thing i ask him i go oh so you believe we're under the old testament law today when did you get circumcised and they go well uh they didn't you know i'll i'll happily come to your house with a knife and i'll help you with that if you'd like but uh you don't have to okay you don't have to be circumcised today we are not under this old testament law but there are people that say yes we are and you go um do you rightly divide do you know that that's old testament today we're in the new testament so we're not under that and then there's other people that claim to be christians that say well we're still under the ten commandments we have to keep the ten commandments today well there's a lot of good moral lessons in the ten commandments but this one right here remember the sabbath day that's a commandment that carries the death penalty with it are you telling me that we are still under that go with me to exodus chapter 31 let me show you what the bible says because if you believe that we are still under the old testament law you've got a problem you believe that it's okay to kill someone today because the old testament law says to kill those people that don't keep the sabbath let me read it to you so the thing that i do when i go to the bible is i rightly divide and i go wow that can't be for us today because we're under grace and that doesn't sound like grace to me to go kill somebody matter of fact we shouldn't kill anybody but one of the penalties of breaking god's law was death and matter of fact there were three things that if you did you would die for these three things there's actually probably a couple more but there were three things under the old testament law that there was no sacrifice for there was no forgiveness for one of those was adultery if you committed adultery you were to be stoned to death there was no forgiveness in the law for adultery another one was murder if you committed cold-blooded murder on another person there was no forgiveness god says stone that person to death because he murdered and another one was blasphemy if you blasphemed god and you said something you shouldn't then you were to be stoned to death now i don't have time to go to all the verses on that but you'll see those in the old testament if you'll read it so the old testament law there were certain things that if you did there was no forgiveness for i find that interesting but look at this when exodus chapter 31 let's focus in on this today i go back and forth all the time with these people say well brother breaker i understand we're not under the law we're in a different dispensation but we still have to keep the ten commandments i go okay well how you doing on number four because if you believe that we still have to keep these then we have a problem because that one right there says in exodus chapter 30 one look at verse 12. and again what this is doing this is reiterating that the law is for israel all right i am not israel i am the church okay so i am part of the church which is the body of christ so as part of the body of christ i don't keep the law to be saved i am saved through christ so i don't look at the law as i got to keep that or else i'm not going to heaven that's not how i see it but some people do well look at what the law is they're so i don't want to call people names i'm not calling them ignorant but ignorant means they just don't know they're so ignorant that they say you've got to keep the 10 commandments to get to heaven and they don't even know what the commandment is look at this fourth one about the sabbath in exodus chapter 31 exodus 31 12 and the lord spake unto moses saying speak thou also unto the children of israel saying verily my sabbath ye shall keep for it is a sign between me and you throughout your generations that ye may know that i am the lord that does sanctify you so it's god speaking to jews back then that dispensation old testament not to today and it says you shall keep the sabbath verse 14 therefore for it is holy unto you everyone that defileth it shall surely be put to death what capital punishment for not obeying that and you're going to tell me that's for today so we as christians are supposed to go kill people that do something on saturday saturday is the sabbath the last day of the week first day of the week is sunday you really believe that we have to keep that okay how many people have you killed that we're working on saturday i won't do that because i rightly divide my bible and i realize that was a different time to a different people and we're here today we don't go kill people under grace all right you see that now let me continue reading here just so you see it and what i find interesting is it says it twice not just one time it says it twice so verse 14 says surely be put to death then verse six six days may work be done by the seventh is the sabbath of rest holy to the lord whosoever doeth any work in the sabbath day he shall surely be put to death so twice under the law it says if you don't keep the sabbath you're to be put to death now you run around and you say no but we're still under that today then according to you we need to go kill people no no no no no i will not go along with you in that i don't accept that i don't believe that i rightly divide the bible i understand dispensations that's old testament to israel then but it does not apply to us today we are not to go kill people today so i guess the old testament then is for jews and the ten commandments are for them so do we keep the ten commandments today no not for salvation now if you go to your bible to romans chapter 13 guess what paul reiterates the ten commandments says don't steal don't kill don't and he doesn't mention the sabbath so that one right there is not for us today and so when i keep the commandments i keep the commandments of paul and i keep the ones that are moral but i see that one as a ceremonial that's not for us today otherwise we'd have to go around killing each other and that's not right that's not right so a lot of folks out there claim to be christians and they don't even understand what they're saying we're going to keep the two commandments today all right how many people have you killed that didn't keep the sabbath that's foolishness to say that and people need to be careful and they need to understand what they're saying today we're under the commandments of the apostles not the commandments of moses it's a complete different dispensation okay but let's continue reading there i want to read the rest of it verse 16 wherefore the children of israel shall keep the sabbath to observe the sabbath throughout their generations for a perpetual covenant so it's the covenant with israel it's not a covenant for us today the church it is a sign between me and the children of israel forever for in six days the lord made heaven and earth and on the seventh day he rested and was refreshed and he gave it to moses when he had made an end of communion with them upon mount sinai two tables of testimony tables of stone written with the finger of god so there's your two tables of stone the ten commandments the ten commandments are for israel and it's for them now i say that and people say well then you're against the ten commandments you're against this you're saying we can go kill you're saying we can commit adultery you're saying i am not saying that see a lot of people they'll run to an extreme and they'll say well if you don't believe we're under the ten commandments then you're a lawless person and you're guilty of doing them no i'm not i just told you that the majority of them were mentioned in paul and so i keep the commandments of paul because he's our apostle for today romans 11 13 read it and we are not under the old testament law and we are definitely not under keeping the sabbath otherwise we would go kill other people that don't keep the sabbath and that would be wrong because today we're not supposed to kill all right do you understand that now a lot of people say well no no no we are still under the law all right let's go to romans chapter six i am just so tired of these people and yet they're everywhere many of them belong to a denomination called the seventh day adventists and seventh-day adventism started with miller it was called millerism at one time and it literally started in an insane asylum in battle creek michigan i've been there i've been to battle creek michigan i saw the actual insane asylum where they used to have their their group meetings they met an insane asylum to start their religion can you imagine across the street was the kellogg museum i went there too but who wants to follow a religion that started an insane asylum that's kind of creepy isn't it and what did they teach they taught we have to keep the sabbath okay how many people did they kill because the bible says if you're going to get under that and you're going to keep this then you're supposed to put to death someone that works on the sabbath did they ever do that many of your seventh-day adventist churches today they go to church on the sabbath day well you're guilty of being put to death if you but i asked them how many of you been circumcised oh we've never been do you see what they're doing they're mixing the law with grace and they're getting them confused and they're trying to get back over here when we're not over here that was for jews we're over here this is for the church so it's a shame that they do that but they do and boy do they love to talk and they love to email they love to call and they love and they say you're so wrong we're under the law we're under the law what are they doing they're thinking that salvation is an element of works involved today so they're trying to take the old testament law and mix it with the church and say now you got to do these things to get to heaven well then jesus died for nothing no the bible says it's what jesus did that gets us to heaven not what we do so do you see how it's a false denomination and how there's problems when you mix the law with grace are we under the law today let's see what paul says romans chapter 6 and verse 14 for sin shall not have dominion over you for you are not under the law but under grace they say no we're under the law paul says we're not under the law no we are under the law paul says no we're not who who are they arguing with paul who was paul paul says he was an apostle chosen by god and god gave him certain commandments for us today and paul said be a follower of me as i am of christ so paul has the revelations of jesus christ and so if you argue with paul you're arguing with jesus so anybody that runs around says we're under the law we're under the law all you can do is just say romans 6 14 and 15. i didn't read verse 15 but look what it says what then shall we sin because we're not under the law but under grace god forbid so verse 14 says we're not under the law verse 15 says it again we're not under the law we're under grace so i just get so tired of people that try to say no no we're still under the law we're still what they are is they're people that are following a denomination and not the bible and they don't believe in dispensations and that's what happens when you don't believe in dispensations you try to take the old testament new testament mix it all together and say we're under both it doesn't work because if we are in the old testament then we're supposed to kill people that don't keep the sabbath that's what exodus 31 said i don't believe in that i don't think it's right to kill people so i rightly divide second timothy 2 15. the bible says studies show thyself approved unto god to work many needs not be ashamed rightly dividing word of truth what does it mean to rightly divide i understand old testament i understand new testament and there is a division that was made at the cross that when jesus came he came to start a new covenant a new testament something different and we're no longer under the old testament law today now the jews try to keep that but i'm not a jew i'm part of the body of christ and i am saved and the commandments given to me are through the apostles paul first and foremost because he's the apostle to the gentiles romans 11 and verse 13. now galatians 5 18 look at galatians 5 18 but if you be led of the spirit you are not under the law when we get saved today according to paul ephesians 1 13 tells us once we're saved we are sealed with the holy spirit of promise so when we are sealed with the holy spirit we walk in the spirit then we're fulfilling what god wants in our life if we don't keep the law thinking that's going to get saved we're following jesus and we're led of the spirit and what happens we're not of the law but we're doing right we're living a moral life because the spirit of god is leading us to do right a lot of people don't get that let's go to galatians chapter 3 and verse 10 and i don't understand because it's so clear if they just read i wonder if they read galatians 3 and verse 10 look what it says here verse 10 through 14 for as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse now we read that in the old testament about the curse for it is written cursed is everyone that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them which is so sad and funny at the same time because so many people that try to say we're under the law we're still under law i ask them where you ever circumcised they go no well then you're cursed you didn't do the very thing you're supposed to do when you're eight days old to get under the law and yet you're trying to follow it and you haven't even done what it said to do to get under it be circumcised anyway continue there verse 11 but that no man is justified by the law in the sight of god it is evident for the just to live by faith so it's not the law that saves us it's faith verse 12 and the law is not of faith but the man that doeth them shall live in them so the law is not about faith the law is about obeying and doing what you're told to do and that was to the jews back then verse 13 christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law being made a curse for us for it is written cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree that the blessing of abraham might come on the gentiles through jesus christ that we might receive the promise of the spirit through faith so we get the holy spirit through faith but the law is not of faith that's what it said so the law wasn't hey if you'll just believe in jesus you get to heaven the law was keep this and do this and that's what they had to do under the law well today the bible says we're saved by grace through faith and not of works lest any man should boast so that doesn't correspond with that back here so obviously two completely different dispensations that's the only way to reconcile that and to understand it verse 23 but before faith came we were kept under the law shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed so it wasn't faith that saves you in the old testament they were shut up waiting for the faith that does come to save you that's what the bible says verse 24 wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto christ that we might be justified by faith for after that faith has come we are no longer under a schoolmaster verse 26 for ye are all the children of god by faith in christ jesus so the old testament law said this is what you do and this is how you please god by doing these things no one ever ever who was under that old testament law fulfilled it in all they all sinned they all messed up the only person that ever kept that law in every jot and tittle was jesus christ showing and proving that he was god manifest in the flesh he says see you can't do the law so i came to redeem you from the curse of the law and if you will come through me through faith in my blood the bible says that salvation is through faith that is blood that i'll save you so it's faith in the blood see it's a different sacrifice it's the sacrifice of jesus remember the first testament started with blood well the bible tells us in hebrews chapter 9 verse 16 that a testament begins with the death of a testator something had to die in the old testament for the blood to be shed to start that covenant that testament well jesus shed his blood to start a new testament and if you're going back to the old testament and trying to get under the old testament law then you're literally spitting in the face of jesus christ and saying i don't accept your sacrifice i'm going back there i'm going to make my own sacrifice and i'm going to say look at me god and god goes no i'm not going to accept you because you're cursed so it's the sacrifice of jesus today not the sacrifice of animals in the old testament and not your self-sacrifice of your self-righteousness trying to keep the law and that's what you've got to understand jesus saves the law doesn't save but there's people out there today say oh you got to keep that old testament law or else you'll go to hell if you don't do what the law says well let's look at galatians chapter 2 and verse 16. because galatians 2 16 says knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but by the faith of jesus christ even we have believed in jesus christ that we might be justified by the faith of christ and not by the works of the law for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified there's no salvation there's no justification under the law he said well then how were they saved in the old testament well that's a problem isn't it the bible says when jesus christ showed up that he became the author of eternal salvation so where was eternal salvation before jesus well if you read your your bible you realize that in the old testament there were two compartments under the earth there was what's called abraham's bosom and there's he double hockey sticks hell and those that were keeping the law now they couldn't be saved by the law because the law can't save you but the law said that when you do sin you take an animal sacrifice and there is forgiveness through the animal sacrifice so in the old testament if a person did what they were told to do and if they did sin and they made a sacrifice for their sins they found forgiveness through that sacrifice but it couldn't forgive them eternally it only forgave them of that past sin so if they died with forgiveness then they went to abraham's bosom and they waited there and the bible says that when jesus came he's the author of eternal salvation that when he died he was buried and he went down here and he took all these people and he said he preached unto them the bible says and peter he must have preached something what did he preach hey i am the promised seed i am the christ i am the messiah and i am the one sacrificed forever for the sins of the world do you believe that and if they accepted that by faith well then god says well come on and the bible says he led captivity captive and he took them up to heaven with him so salvation in the old testament wasn't until christ died if you look at it that way and what's sad there's a lot of people out there claim to be christians and they're all arguing about old testament verses new testament salvation and i look at it and i go wow the old testament was just do what it said and then you go down here and i don't see old testament the same as the new testament it's completely different today when we're saved we're sealed with the holy spirit of promise anybody in the old testament were they sealed with the holy spirit no david had the holy spirit and he says lord don't take it from me take not thy holy spirit from me he said in psalms so a lot of differences between the old testament the new testament and i have a lot of videos about that but let me show you real quick leviticus chapter four leviticus chapter four let me show you what i'm talking about because under the old testament law there was no salvation except forgiveness through a blood sacrifice now they were supposed to obey and it was all about the obedience people say well they weren't in the old testament saved by works um but it was all about works in the old testament you say yeah but the doing the works doesn't save them exactly we just read that in galatians 2 16 that you're not saved by works the law cannot justify you so what was it that had to be done in the old testament to get forgiveness a sacrifice but who did it the sinner so it was a work that he did to bring the sacrifice let me prove that to you so it was works in the old testament but it was the work he did but then it was the blood that forgave but what if he didn't bring the sacrifice would he have been forgiven so he had to obey the law that said bring a sacrifice for your sins so there was an element of works involved in the old testament now leviticus chapter 4 let's look at verse 27 i guess 4 27 and if any one of the common people send through ignorance while he does somewhat against any of the commandments of the lord concerning things which ought not to be done and be guilty or if his sin which he has sinned come to his knowledge then he shall bring his offering a kid of the goats a female without blemish for his sin which he has sinned and he shall lay his hand upon the head of the sin offering and slay the sin offering in the place of the burnt offering the sinner himself had to bring a sacrifice and put his hand on it what was he doing he was saying god i deserve to die and go to hell for my sin because i broke your covenant an oath that we made with you and i broke it but god would you accept this in my place that's what his hand on it was for and he went and cut the jugular and the blood poured out and as you continue reading here what happened well the priest took the blood and offered it up onto the altar and he it says in the end of verse 31 and the priest shall make an atonement for him and it shall be forgiven him there verse 32 talks about a lamb how he could bring a lamb as a sin offering in verse 35 same thing and it shall be forgiven him so forgiveness in the old testament was through blood sacrifice forgiveness in the new testament is through blood sacrifice but not the blood of an animal the blood of jesus christ god manifest in the flesh when jesus showed up it says in john 1 i believe it's verse 36 it says behold the lamb of god which taketh away the sin of the world so jesus came he shed his blood guess what not the same blood as that old testament it's a different blood and it's the blood of christ that started the new testament and it's not of works today it's by faith so the question is do you believe that do you understand that so we're looking at the law of israel the law of israel is for israel but if you read your bible you realize you know what we are not under the law for salvation today the law does not save us it is the blood atonement of jesus christ his one sacrifice forever let's go to hebrews chapter 10. so there's no getting back under the law today to get saved but there are people out there that run around and say well to get saved you've got to keep the old testament law and you just look at that and go how could anyone say something so foolish what are they saying they're saying that the blood of jesus doesn't forgive it's what you do that gets you to heaven okay so you're your own savior jesus died for the sins of the whole world for nothing is that what you're telling me well that's literally what you're saying if you're saying that the law saves us keeping the ten commandments will get us to heaven that's what you're saying you're saying to jesus and his sacrifice and you're saying i don't want that i don't accept that that has no meaning to me whatsoever it does nothing for me god except me because i did this do you think god's going to accept that self-righteous sinner bragging on his own works no one was ever safe through the law now you're going to be the first it doesn't work that way no you've got to give up your own self-righteousness you've got to admit yeah i am a sinner the law showed me that because i tried to keep it and i couldn't i'm a sinner i need forgiveness well you can't offer a sacrifice today so you have to come to the sacrifice that was already made for you which is jesus christ and when you trust that sacrifice that's when you're saved then you get the holy spirit of god and then you want to live right then you want to do right you want to live a moral righteous life hebrews chapter 10 verse 10 hebrews 10 10 says by the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of jesus christ once for all jesus christ offered himself up on the cross to forgive you of all your sins and every priest standing daily ministering and oftentimes the same sacrifices which can never take up sins this old testament sacrifice can't take away our sins anymore we can't get back under the law and say okay when i sin i'll just offer an animal to do that is to tell jesus what you did is meaningless i think i can do this instead well then jesus died for nothing according to you no god only accepts this sacrifice he won't accept any others and like he says in verse 12 but this man speaking of jesus after he had offered one sacrifice for sins forever sat down on the right hand of god first john 2 2 tells us that jesus christ is propitiation for the sins of the whole world so the whole world can be saved because this sacrifice of jesus was for the whole world and it's through faith in this that we get saved so is your faith in the shed blood of jesus christ are you trusting in what jesus did or are you trusting in what you do but still today there are people out there that say no no no no breaker no we're still under the old testament law okay well first of all you're a hypocrite and you're a liar all right because you've never been circumcised secondly the bible says that law cannot save you thirdly if you truly believe that the law is what takes you to heaven then have you killed anyone lately because the law of the sabbath is to kill those that don't keep it i hope to god you see what i'm preaching you today because you'll go to jail if you kill someone and rightly so because today we're not supposed to kill people okay do you understand what i'm presenting unto you today the bible teaches dispensations old testament back then for the jews for that people new testament salvation today is through jesus christ whether you're a jew or a gentile you must come to that sacrifice that he did on the cross to be saved do you want salvation if you think you can save yourself by the law help yourself but it won't work it won't work because all you'll do is prove that you're cursed that you're a cursed sinner that can't get to heaven by your own works that's why you need to come to christ because he came to redeem you from the curse of the law as we have read now go to galatians chapter three galatians chapter three in the early church there were some people that came in and they said no well we're still under the old testament law yeah yeah jesus the messiah and all that but let's mix the law and grace well it doesn't work the whole book of galatians is about how you can't mix works with faith we're either saved by faith alone or by works we're not saved by faith and works we're saved only through faith according to the new testament faith in what faith in that sacrifice that blood atonement of christ galatians chapter 3 verse 1 and 2. so paul is writing this book the book of galatians to these people who tried to say no we got to keep the commandments too in order to get saved so they're trying to mix old testament new testament look what he says to them o foolish galatians who hath bewitched you that you should not obey the truth before whose eyes jesus christ have been evidently sent forth crucified among you this only what i learned of you received you the spirit by the works of the law or by the hearing of faith paul says is it the works of the law that saves us or is it faith and do we get the holy spirit of god by doing the works or do we get the holy spirit when we believe well ephesians 1 13 says when you believe the gospel you're sealed with the holy spirit so it all goes back to the gospel so what is the gospel well the gospel is found in first corinthians 15 1-4 and the gospel is how that christ died for our sins how did he die he shed his blood so it's the blood of jesus that forgives today not the animal sacrifice that forgives that was in a different covenant different testament different time for a different people we today are in a different dispensation now let's run over here to oh let's go to romans chapter 3. there's so many things that i want to get into and i don't have much time left but let's go to romans chapter three so i got saved on july 29th 1992 when i understood these things and my father set me down he showed me because i was thinking well i'm a good person and i keep the ten commandments i deserve to go to heaven you know what i didn't deserve to go to heaven i was a sinner and i still was in my sins no matter how good a life i thought i was living i was still a dirty rotten sinner and i couldn't find forgiveness until my dad took me to the gospel and showed me what it said and i realized oh so it's what jesus did and it's his sacrifice that forgives my sins and all he asks of me is to believe it's by faith and i'm saved i said man i give up i quit trusting in my works and i trust solely in the finished work of christ on the cross what he did for me and that's when i got saved let's read romans chapter 3 and let's read verse 24 to 31 being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in christ jesus you see we're not justified by works we're justified through grace in christ jesus verse 25 from god set forth to be a pro-appreciation through faith in his blood this is how i got saved when i read this verse i realized oh if my faith is in what he did for me his blood then he saves me and my faith i placed in the blood of christ it wasn't my work that saved me the only thing you can do is not work is believe and when i realized that i said i believe i'm trusting in the blood of christ and that's the day i got saved july 29 1992 about 10 o'clock in the morning sitting on the kitchen counter in in i in the house we live in still to this day it says whom god said for forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood to declare his righteousness for the mission of sins that are passed through the forbearance of god to declare i say at this time his righteousness that he might be just and the justifier of him which believeth in jesus where is boasting then it is excluded by what law of works nay but by the law of faith you see if you think you have to keep the law to get to heaven then you're saying accept me jesus because i'm just and i did what the law says so i'm righteous except me and the bible says no no you're a liar because no one is righteous no one everyone's a sinner you cannot keep the law 100 without sending one time everyone's ever lived has once in their life at least once sinned against the law so who is the just one jesus and you have to realize i'm unjust okay god how do i get to heaven well the one who'd never sinned died in your place for your sins now will you accept what he did oh yes please and when you trust what jesus did then he justifies you that means he saves you but look what it says verse 27 where is boasting then it is excluded people who think that they're getting to heaven based on their works run around saying i'm a good person look at me i'm keeping the ten commandments no you're not you're not keeping the fourth one you're not out there putting the deaf people that are on we're doing stuff on saturday and please don't do that please don't do that again that's not for us today but you cannot run around and say i'm just look at me i'm great but those people that do they brag on themselves i don't want to brag on me because i know i'm a sinner and i'm no good you know who i want to brag on jesus because he's the one that saved me i realize i can't save myself through the law so i come to jesus who can save me and he saved me and it says whereas boasting then is excluded by what law of works name but by the law of faith i love that this back here this old testament law is the law of works it was all about doing the works of the law do you realize that's not the law for us today paul makes it very clear that today it's all about the law of faith and what is he saying that when we're saved we're saved through faith not of works completely different law completely different dispensation completely different verse 28 therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law i'm not saved by the law i'm not kept saved by keeping the law i am saved through faith alone now that i'm saved by grace through faith now i want to follow the spirit of god that's within me and now i'm living a moral life and trying to serve him but i'm not thinking in my mind now if i do this it'll get me to heaven i understand completely that what gets me to heaven is what jesus did now i seek to serve him because he saved me and it goes on there a lot more in this passage verse 29 30 31 but i want you to see that i want you to understand that if you read the book of acts sometimes you can't help but see that acts chapter 15 and how that there were some people that came in to the church and said well yeah this whole faith thing and believing it's by faith is great but you got to keep the law matter of fact let's look at that acts chapter 15. acts chapter 15 and verse one and certain men which came down from judea taught the brother and said except you be circumcised after the manner of moses you cannot be saved the early church got together was preaching salvation through faith in jesus it's jesus it's trusting in jesus and somebody says no it's the law too and so they all met together to figure that out and look what happens in verse five but there rose up a certain of the sect of the pharisees which believes saying that it was needful to circumcise them and to command them to keep the law of moses what well verse 6 says and the apostles and elders came together for to consider of this matter they said let's look into this is it the law or is it grace faith alone verse seven when there had been much disputing peter rose up instead of the amended brethren and he begins to talk about the gospel look what he says in verse 11 but we believe that through the grace of lord jesus christ we shall be saved even as they peter the early apostles paul they said it's not the law that saves us it's grace so i went a little long on this but i wanted to get this all out here because here's the thing god chose the jews as his chosen people and he gave them a land all right we saw that in a couple weeks ago in the first message the land of israel god called a certain people those people were the jews and god used those people to give us the bible and god gave a law so we looked at the law today and we also looked at this the whole reason i went into all this was to get to the gospel and to show you the gospel some people said hey brother greg you left the gospel out last week or the week before it's because i wanted to bring everything together that according to the bible the law was given to show us that we're sinners and when we understand that we're sinners then we say okay now what i can't save myself now look to jesus the bible says the law was a school master to bring us to christ and so if you understand all this you understand that through the law we can't be saved but that law was given to israel why did god give him that law to point them to jesus that's what the bible says so it's a good thing to read the law and understand what it is but we also need to understand the most important thing the law cannot save us and it was for them for that time it's not for the church today what's for us today is trust the blood of jesus christ trust the sacrifice that he made let's close with galatians chapter 2 and so i said all that because i wanted to bring you about to this message of salvation and i hope you're saved i hope you're not one of those people that thinks well if i keep the ten commandments then i'll go to heaven that's not what the bible teaches in the new testament i hope you're not one of those people that says well yeah faith is good and yeah i believe in jesus but if i don't keep the law i'll go to hell that's faith that works that's a perverted gospel that's not what the bible teaches galatians chapter 2 and verse 20 the bible says i am crucified with christ nevertheless i live yet not i but christ liveth in me and the life which i now live in the flesh i live by the faith of the son of god who loved me and gave himself for me the only way to live have eternal life and be in heaven with christ is through the faith of the son of god through faith that we're saved verse 21 i do not frustrate the grace of god for if righteousness came by the law then christ is dead in vain paul says it so clearly that's the best place to end as far as i'm concerned paul literally says if we can get to heaven based upon keeping the law then jesus died on the cross for nothing either the law saves you and you get to heaven based upon keeping the law or jesus saves you it's not either or one of the other it's salvation is through faith alone in jesus christ because he died for your sins and you can keep the law your whole life but you'll never ever be saved by it because all you will prove is you're a sinner that can't keep the law because everyone who's ever tried to keep the law they always went ah i messed up the bible says all have sinned and come short of the glory of god so if you want salvation you need to understand stand it's not through the law so why do we have the law well the law tells us what sin is that's why god gave the law to the old testament jews so that we can know oh so that's sin oh that's it so lying is sin you mean stealing is sin you mean committing adultery when we understand what sin is then we look at ourselves we go oh oh i'm a sinner i messed up all right now what now the new testament how do i get rid of my sins jesus died to pay for my sins and if i come to him by faith and receive his atonement romans 5 11 then he'll save me and shield me with his holy spirit and give me a place in heaven i choose jesus i don't choose the ten commandments i don't choose the old testament law i don't choose that i understand this is where we are today and this is what saves me so i wanted to explain to you what the law was who it was for but also i had to explain that the law doesn't save you it's kind of sad that today there's a lot of people that still think you're saved through the law and the jews many of them many of the nations of israel still think to this day they're under that law and they're going along here as soon as the rapture takes place do you know what's going to happen as soon as the rapture takes place they're going to go over here into the tribulation period and they're going to be keeping their law but then there's going to be two witnesses that show up then there's going to be some others and there's they're going to realize oh so jesus came and they're finally going to find jesus but they're still thinking today that they're still under the law and that's why they're not saved and we looked at last time how god says all israel shall be saved but they need to realize it's not the law that saves it's jesus their christ and so they will come to the true christ out here and realize oh it's not the law so i hope this is a blessing to you next week we'll probably look at something else but i i just felt like i needed to get that out there and show you that because a lot of people have been emailing or writing and saying even in the comments well it's the law you got to keep the law you got to keep the law well the bible doesn't teach that the bible teaches when we're saved we're saved through faith and the law doesn't save us all right well god bless you we'll see you next time bye-bye
