big lipstick welcome back to flavor foes what are you tell flavor folks chef an officer Greg out here with you so Jeff called me up and said hey we're going streaking and I thought this is a little weird we're going streaking in the quad so I showed up naked still doesn't have his pants on I know I get out here in just my shirt fortunately I had a spare shirt I find out that actually what we were doing was shooting the streaked ammo thanks for clarification Jeff wow this is a this is a it's a form of a tracer round but it is not the hot burning phosphorus from your typical tracer rounds so you can safely shoot these indoors at a rubber chip pile at an indoor range you could safely shoot them through a paper target you can safely shoot them out here outdoors where they might come in contact with dry grass regular tracers you would not want to do that and in places like California regular tracers are not even legal because of that reasons we have a little bit of a fire problem here you might have heard so the streak rounds we have 40 and 45 caliber today we're gonna shoot for tea out of a Glock 22 and the 45 caliber out of an M&P 45 we're gonna try these out where we're waiting for the Sun to go down right now so we thought we'd film a little intro we got another few minutes before the Sun goes down low enough the rounds when you pull them out they are indistinguishable from a standard round they just look like your standard hardball 45 round round nose no special markings on the on the head no special markings at the case mouth or on the actual round so yeah like I was saying they should have put a red dot or something on them or a green dot this lasers lasers yeah laser beams yeah they do come in a box of 20 and they are gonna be reasonably priced we won't throw a price down here because that could fluctuate but for a box of 20 they're reasonably priced for people like you and I who want to actually buy them in an indoor range and shoot them they would be a good training aid because you can actually see your rounds go downrange and you don't have to just look down there at your target and try and count the count the holes so if these actually illuminate the way they're supposed to it's a it's well within reach of the average consumer to pick up some of these right I'm thinking they were the box of 20 was like $11 or $12 I could be wrong but if I remember right it was like well it's a lot less than I thought yeah but gimmicky mo before that's you know $40 a box of 20 because they're supposed to do these magical things in cure wall right kill what it's supposed to kill kill werewolves and bring down airliners and all this kind of stuff so that's that's not actually not a bad price for a box of 20 rounds for training ammo however you know that's that's the price of more like hollow-point carry ammo for training ammo this would be more you buy a box or two you run them downrange you wouldn't you wouldn't shoot 500 of these in one sitting at a training class but we're gonna give them a try out here see how the streak works I'm gonna put on some pants because I'm a little uncomfortable out here shooting firearms with no pants on and let's give it a try the street camo by the way has pretty standard velocities the 45 is rated at 925 feet per second the 40 caliber at 958 feet per second that's pretty close to actual velocities for standard handgun ammo for these two calibers so you know they're getting the same amount of powder charge out of it I'm flashing my son over there all right let's get to it and see what we can do as soon as the Sun Goes Away anything on that one but I may have seen a little bit I thought I saw it in real time but in this footage I can't see it at all maybe you can that's actually darker than it appears on camera the camera sensors are pick up light better than I expected we'll see if we can see it the Sun is officially down yeah okay I'm ready this is 45 45 okay ready I'm ready yeah all I could see was a muzzle flash oh okay still not bright enough to see at least in the camera footage what is it okay I'm ready even 20 minutes after sunset where it was a lot darker than it appeared in this video footage it was still difficult to see these with the naked eye it was also dark enough that Greg was having a difficult time just seeing his sights after around 30 minutes after sunset it was getting dark enough where we could see these with our eyes much easier and finally we can see them more clearly with the cameras that jug sure looks a lot brighter on here than it actually touch that's yeah that's crazy how much light this thing picks up light forty minutes after sunset we were able to see him much better now one issue Gregg reported having was the fact that the muzzle flash prevented him from seeing some of the tracers at all I'm ready you can see that really well we decided to capture one of the bullets in some soft body armor to examine it so we found this thing in the side of the vest it looks like a standard old 45 round all mushroomed up yeah I was expecting to see some kind of a paint or something on the back her lasers or radiation yeah notes some uranium now we'll take the light away charge it up nicely nothing oh come on camera camera is its own little light on nothing no we did it's got the same old printing from the Kevlar strands like we always see it mushroom like we always see yeah but no super stormtrooper lasers this is what we expected to see with some of the yellow goo look at that that's glowing right there I wanted to see what made these work I didn't have a bullet puller this size so I use the tubing cutter besides the normal stuff you find inside there like the powder it was this little disc which isn't even attached to the bullet apparently it just rides on the back in the low-pressure area of the bullet and the disc glows in the dark which is charged up by the burning powder so instead of burning chemicals like phosphorus we have something called phosphorescence going on here and this is probably about as bright as you can get without burning a chemical I played base the uranium milk jugs in 1993 but we only played small bars in Chernobyl so we didn't get a lot of customers we had creative differences and okay I'm ready Oh oh you did hit it don't hit the flashlight are you go disabled there's bugs everywhere okay I'm ready you're missing you shouldn'ta left there you go left okay I can see him really well now but it's it's almost completely pitch dark now at this point it was so dark Greg decided to pull out his flashlight so they'd have something to silhouette his sights against of course the target being painted black did not help matters at all it was difficult to put black sites against it soon at the back of the rifle range here a tree all the way back there let's see I'm ready yeah yeah yeah I actually saw those hanging in the air longer the amount of insects out here bugs out here than a Bangladeshi sewer [Laughter] [Applause] well what's your conclusion their conclusion is they the street grounds did work we saw those on camera of course they're not as bright as a standard old phosphorus burnin tracer round they did work we're in some pretty low light and they became much more visible as the light went down to almost dark out here I can barely see Jeff right now so if you're gonna use these on an indoor range you'd have to have a ability to lower the light in the range but yeah I think they'd be hard to see with normal indoor illumination yeah but if you have a bility to control your illumination in there and get the Rangemaster to shut down some lighting in there for low light they're not gonna do that maybe for you the other thing we learned out here too is that shooting without night sights I'm not a big fan of night sights on pistols but shooting without night sights was tough to see I was tough to see those black steel target downrange so well that's one thing you learn maybe you need to put some white crayon on there okay okay I don't have some burned-out tritium from years ago I mean some trigger cons from years ago but not a fan of the old night sights that personal preference I'll instead I'll blue a little blue to a 99-cent store I don't think it was even $0.99 I'll just check it up right there so folks they're definitely worth giving a try they're not gimmicky ammo like you often see on the store shelves so get some go out and get some turning in if you get a chance to swing over to the oh jeez danger show and give our channel a try we will see you guys on the next video I'm a disclose tick [Laughter]
