[Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] in this video we're going to be reviewing the cig p3 65 XL the XL model is the second evolution in the cig p3 65 series which came out originally with their micro which you see here back in January 2018 and now they just have a newly released model which is the 365 XL which is just slightly longer but incorporates many of the same characteristics that many people love about the 365 but just in a slightly larger slightly larger pistol when you buy the 365 XL it comes in this box and then it also includes two flush twelve round magazines now what are some of the things that I like about the 365 XL the first thing is if you love the ergonomics and the controllability of the 365 micro you are going to especially love the 365 XL it is extremely comfortable ergonomics and in this case for example when people used to put the extended magazines to get a full hand grip on or the the extension for the pinky you don't need that anymore that's actually incorporated into the full length of the grip so the ergonomics of the gun are outstanding and again if you like the 365 you're gonna like shooting the 365 XL even more but if you're familiar with the grips the operations the look and feel it's almost the exact same with the exception of a little bit different length which we'll talk about in a moment it comes with two 12 round magazines verse for example the Glock 48 and the Glock 43 which come with standard ten round magazine so you get two extra rounds you also get two extra rounds compared to the standard micro except with the extension when you put by the extension magazine which you see here on the micro it also gets you up to twelve rounds as well it includes a stainless steel frame as well as the stainless steel slide as well as the nitron finish again something that I would prefer to have on a concealed carry pistol it also includes the standard iron x-ray night-and-day sights and if you've ever fired these before you understand why they're so great and why people like them standard as opposed to many cases with Glocks where you get the polymer you get standard iron sights with these but as well as the front sight is a lot more pronounced than the back sight the backsides kind of washed out a little bit to teach you how to fire off the front sight better but also makes for really good sight acquisition and these come standard with the pistol you're also going to notice in the previous 365 models they had cut dovetail cuts so you could change out your sighting options in this case you still have the same dovetail cut on the front however in the rear now it includes a rear removable sight plate and the sight plate is similar to what you see for example in the Glock mos models where some people want to put on optics you know the sights and things of that nature this allows you to do the same thing and currently it supports things like the Romeo 0 the our MSC reflective optics and other options like that over time the plates are a good thing to have your respective of whether or not you're using it now because you might want to put on adjustable sights or as technology continues to evolve you can continue to improve your optics platform simply by screwing off the plate from the underside and putting on whatever you wish to fire you're also going to notice with the 365 XL now there's an extended beaver tail as well as a flared beveled mag well which is a little bit different than what you're used to seeing especially on the micro so if you look closely at the XL you're gonna notice that the magwell flares out a little bit and it obviously makes for quicker magazine changes but it also allows for a better grip purchase grip as well onto the pistol at least for me it has so normally I'm not a big fan of beveled mag wells especially on a carry pistol but in this case it's very slight you can see the difference but it's not huge but it also makes it more controllable to fire and obviously it it allows for quicker quicker changes of the magazines as well and much smoother you're also going to notice that the trigger is different as well they utilize the Sig X flat trigger mechanism which has a 90-degree break so by the way all my pistols are safety check when you look at the break on this a lot of times if you're a traditionalist you're gonna look at that and say do I really want a flat front trigger well what to fire these you start understanding why they're there because basically what happens is it breaks at 90 degrees making it much easier to control where your break is as well as your reset and you compare that for example to the traditional trigger that you would see on the 365 micro and you start realizing wow this is why this is becoming so popular a lot of people love firing the X flat trigger system in fact they also deploy this on the x-series of the p3 20s as well but in my case at least what I'm finding is the more I fire it the more I really like it it's also an option you can you can put on to the trigger systems and the modules themselves by ordering these online through sig and you can replace them on your 360 5 micro as well but it comes standard on XL it is also a modular system so as we talked about before the serialized number is right here through the frame it is serialized only on the trigger assembly that is by law the gun that everything surrounds itself with and it's the same exact dimensional modular trigger system that they run on the 365 in fact many of them are interchangeable and what I'm going to talk about that in a moment but I did a bunch of test firing by swapping out the slides between the two bases what I found is it's almost identical as far as how it fit and operates between the two so the other benefit you're going to have is if you if you were kind of a little skittish on the 365 micros when they first came out remember there was an issue with the primer drag and if you want to see what the primer drag looks like it might be a little hard to see it here on the screen but these are the 365 micro shots and you can see the primer drags where they hit from the primer all the way out to the to the edge of the primer well if that was a concern of yours with the 365 micro it has now gone away with the XL because all my test casings that I took out at least on mine we're all fine they had no primer drags whatsoever as opposed to through primer drags I continue to receive through the X the 365 micro now one final note on this when I did switch out the slides between the two what I noticed was that the primer drag continued to follow the slide so basically what that means is what's causing the primer drag is isolated to the slide the spring and and everything in the upper of the 365 micro and it again currently does not exist now with the XL so again if that was a concern of yours it's now been solved with the XL now what are some of the things I don't like about the pencil well the first thing is the action was a little rough when I got it out of the box now I've only fired about a hundred rounds through it but again it was just a little bit tighter than what I was used to with the 365 micro so again that's something that I will do a follow-up video on after about a thousand rounds to determine okay where is it now compared to where I got it out of the box but I did have to grease up the slide rails a little bit just to try to break it in a little bit and see if improves it is a striker fire pistol so if they're not familiar with that it basically means one pole same time every time as far as I mentioned before I put about a hundred rounds through the pistol already with absolutely no malfunctions in fact the first five rounds I fired were at twenty feet and they basically made a ragged hole about the size of a quarter so I knew immediately right then not only is the pistol accurate but I am accurate in firing this pistol and that says a lot about the ergonomics and the ability to fire the pistol effectively now as far as some comparisons on the market today I've got three on the table here that you're gonna most commonly see I've got the micro the XL as well as the newly released Glock 48 and what we're gonna do is we're gonna look at some of the comparisons for first off as far as the weight now the first thing we're going to do is I'm going to remove all the magazine right here because as you know we carry loaded so what I like to do is look at the pistols as they are in loaded weight so with a 12-round magazine fully loaded the 365 XL comes in at about one pound and a little over nine ounces so about one pound nine ounces compare that for example the 365 with the 12 round magazine that comes in at 1 pound 8 ounces or just one out less than the XL now we want to put on the Glock with a fully loaded ten round magazine and it comes in at one pound nine and a half ounces so the Glock is just slightly but it's almost the exact same weight as the three sixty five the difference is however that is a Glock with ten rounds in the magazine as opposed to a 12-round magazine standard with the 365 XL so now as far as barrel length is concerned when you look at these compared to each other the barrel length putting the two side-by-side of the 365 as well as the XL you'll notice that the length of the barrel is at 3.7 inches on the XL as opposed to 3.1 so basically it's about a half inch difference on length of the pistol as well as height about a half inch difference on height as well now most people I know carry the micro with the fully loaded magazines so when you compare the height there it's almost identical why because it follows the same contour and it uses the same magazine the same 12 round magazine for the XL that it does the 365 the difference is they change out the base plate which is very easy to do you can pop this pin down change out the base plate and the bottom here and then you can change it up with the base plate that's currently in the 365 but beyond that the springs the followers the metal casing it's all identical again another benefit of using a modular handgun system like Sig is you can you can interchange these components as needed as long as you change out the base plates for the magazine's now if you want to look at the differences between the Glock 48 you can start seeing them right here so not only is the Glock 48 slightly longer by about up to about a half an inch but it's also slightly taller as well and when you include the magazine which sticks out on the Glock you can start seeing the differences in height so not only is the capacity lower in the Glock 48 but it also is a little bit taller and a little bit longer than the 365 Excel so that's one of the differences between the tomb we've done an initial we've done a review of the Glock 48 on this channel as well the final thing I like to say is the the Glock 365 Excel reminds me a lot of the old carpet lines that we use to carry which used to be one of our favorite off you know off duty type carry weapons but it's very similar in size and contrast and ironically a lot of people really liked the Kate or the car p9s when they came out but they had their limitations and a lot of those have now been solved by the 365 XL now what are some of the options as we discussed earlier you have a removable sight plate similar to what you would see with the MLS systems on the Glocks this allows you to put like Romeo zeros RMS see reflective optics or a little bit smaller and I'm sure as time goes on and more these units are sold you're gonna have more of these these baseplate replacement options as well so the other thing is you also got additional magazines so right now they come with flush 12-round magazines but there's also an extended 15-round magazine that you can buy on the sig website as well as we've seen with the micro there's been a lot more features coming out over time but eventually I'm sure you'll see a lot more of that as well you're also going to notice that everything is interchangeable so similar to the 365 micro everything is built on the modular system so again safety checked on the pistol and to make to make you understand how easy this really is and again they function the same way I'm gonna remove the uppers for both of these and you can see the differences first off between the two now when you look at them obviously there's a length difference but everything else is almost identical with the exception of two things the springs on the 365 micro you're going to have a dual capture spring whereas you have a single spring on the 365 XL similar to what you would see for example on a Glock the other thing you're going to notice is the feed ramps on the on the barrels or cut just a little bit differently there's a little bit more of a shallower cut on the XL as opposed the micro so the micro has a little bit deeper cut on the feed ramp into the barrel as opposed to the the Excel so that's one of the differences you're going to notice as well but when you look at the frames and the options and how they operate one of the great things about the modular system and I've done another video on this is unlike the three unlike the 320 that has a pin you can pull out here to pop these out in this case all you have to do is tap out up a pin here in the back of the frame and what this allows you to do then you just want to make sure you keep your PIN you can now pop out the serialize gun and this is a serial number that you have here this is identical with the exception of the trigger that they put in here this is identical to what they have in the X L so in other words if you want to interchange these between what I found between the X L frame as well as the micro frame you can do that and that's one of the benefits of a modular system so if you have it 365 this is something you have the ability to do now over time hopefully as more grip modules come out maybe you want to include the beaver tail option or things like that or other improvements that they make you can simply pop these out and over time you'll be able to buy these I would imagine similar to what they do with the 320 s or you can go ahead and place these into any platform you wish with any types of uppers you simply reinsert the pin and you're back in business so that's a quick review of the modular system that's what you get with the 365 and the 365 excels you get a very effective modular system that you can make changes to and upgrades to over time now as far as holsters one of the things that you're going to transition to is every time a new pistol model comes out it seems like they're there's a you no shortage of good holsters that are out there at the time one of the benefits you have in what I own the suggestions I would have is if you carry inside the waistband or outside the waistband get one with a open bottom on the holster that way the slide can actually go through it so if you've got one that was originally designed for the micro get get one of the holsters that can work for and for example some of those now include the in my case I like to carry outside the waistband so crossbreed makes a snap slide holster as well as the DeSantis mini slides these will currently work right now with the 365 XL so and again you can buy them for the micro and then again they fit in because again it's the same frame and everything it's just a little bit longer slide they will typically work with those those options as I originally talked about when I first took the pistol out fired the first five shots at twenty yards I shot about the size of a ragged a-hole that was about the size of a quarter which was significant for a gun for me shooting out of the box it's also at least for me more controllable and more comfortable to shoot than the 365 there's nothing wrong with the 365 micro when I say that and a lot of people are going to look at that and say well what do you mean well you'll know the difference when you fire two two because with the additional weight which is minimal but with the additional weight size and the trigger I find at least for me it's much more controllable for me to be able to do shooting especially rapid shops and follow-ups with the XL over the 365 so again they're both excellent platforms there's nothing wrong with either one of them the difference is at least for me it is more controllable and more enjoyable to shoot the XL than it is the standard 365 you also have a longer sight radius so the sights that I found at least coming out of the out of the box were dead-on now one of the things you're going to have with these removable sight place options are you won't have the ability to drift your rear sight it's actually built into your sight plate so if you have a tendency of moving windage for example on the rear sight to accommodate how you shoot your pistol you're gonna have to do that now on the front sight so if you're used to adjusting to the right you're gonna want to adjust to the left on the front sight accordingly but again being dovetailed you can do that now what are some of the alternatives in the market today as we talked about earlier the peace 365 is meant for sales it's been out since January 2018 there there now pretty rail readily available in the market for a long time there weren't the other ones of course with the Glock 48 and the 43 and the 43 X which that I showed the 48 because that's the closest comparison what there are on the market today but again this has some its distinct advantages in my opinion over the Glock not only in capacity but also in size as well as the features that you get for the money as opposed to what you get for the Glock again both are excellent systems if you like one over the other that's fine again there's a reason why in my opinion this is going to sell so well now the great thing about it we talked about before there's a lot of interchangeable components between the excel as well as the 365 micro as we talked about earlier first off you have the modular trigger system which I just showed you a moment ago how you can pop that out interchange it between the grit modules again I tried the slides on both sides etc they both work fine so if you're planning on for example switching them out and whatever again I don't know if they recommend this by the company and I certainly can't recommend it but at least for me I was able to switch the slides out in the frames and they fired fine the beaver tail extension as well as the mag well it's something again a little bit different that you're gonna find on the DXL as opposed to the 365 personally I like having the beaver tail again it's about a half inch longer I'm both longer as well as taller it this the feed ramp is slightly different on the contour then the micro but again I'll monitor that over time to see if that's an improvement or not but I did fire them I interchange the slides they both work great and again as we talked about earlier these twelve rounds are the same metals and innards of the twelve round extension slide on the micro the differences the base plates and then of course is the primer drag as we talked about earlier the primer drag has gone away with the XL as opposed to the primer drag that I still have with the 365 micro so what would you use this pistol for why is it there well if you watch my second video my review video on the 365 micro I talked about wouldn't it be great if sig came out and built a pistol on the same platform that was just a little bit longer and had a little bit more capacity and that's exactly what sig has done and because of that not only is it great for concealed carry but it's also great for personal defense so it is a great combination of concealment and shoot building now a lot of people including myself I love shooting the 365 micro but I really likes you in the 365 XL more and the half inch on both sides really makes it a better option for me the grip options I find her a little bit better here the lower has been evolved a little bit more including with the new 90-degree trigger which what I'm one of the things I found is when I put the micro slide on the XL frame I actually fired it more accurately than I did when it was on the standard micro frame so I wouldn't be surprised if I see a lot of people doing until until sig comes out with the options to change this otherwise is I wouldn't be surprised as people start popping their 365 micro slides on on the frames of the and the trigger group of the XL just because it seems to me that if I was going to carry the micro I probably want it onto this frame it just works a little bit better for me and the other great thing about the system is and we'll be doing another video on this is a lot of young guns are now moving into this modular option and I know a lot of people are wondering what that means we've lived with this world a lot with the ar-15s and the rifle sides but we're just starting to see it now with the p3 20s the p3 65 and one of the reasons why I quickly disassembled the trigger assembly out of the 365 was to show how easy this really is and how effective it is and how it makes the the the pistols much easier to develop and evolve over time which is one of the reasons why I think sig came out with the 365 XL so quickly is because they were utilizing many of the same components that were using regionally on the 365 but just lengthening certain components and making them a little bit better which is what you have here with the 365 XL so if you haven't fired one of these yet I highly suggest doing it if you own a 365 micro now I would highly suggest getting a 365 XL it is really a great option I really enjoy it you can wait if you want I'm sure over time maybe they'll have the exchange model similar to the P 320 is that you might be able to utilize your existing trigger group on or you can just pick up an XL as I did again as far as concealed carry this will be my first choice now over the 365 micro it's only slightly larger but they benefits I get of the capacity of the shoot ability everything about the pistol I think is excellent I think Sig really nailed it out of the park with this with this model so if you have a chance to pick one up please do it highly suggest it and if you like this channel or like this video please like us on YouTube and thanks for
