[MUSIC PLAYING] This is our target,
Carlos Aguilar, allegedly raped a 13 year old. Let's go get this guy. LENNY DEPAUL: A
crime like this-- this guy needs to go away. Possibly armed.
[DOOR KNOCK] We don't know what to expect. Back door. Police! Police! His name popped up in Florida. LENNY DEPAUL: South Florida,
vacation capital of the world. Go, go, go! [TIRE SQUEAL] [MUSIC PLAYING] [CRASH] [CAR HORN] [DIGITAL SOUND] [CAR HORN] ROXANNE LOPEZ: Today
I'm getting deputized, assigned to the task force. [DIGITAL SOUND] I've been in law enforcement
for about 11 years, been a detective for
three and a half. [SPEAKING SPANISH] Getting deputized is a
huge accomplishment for me. Let's jump in here, and
we'll get you taken care of. OK, you ready to do this? Yeah. Raise your right hand. [MUSIC PLAYING] I, state your full name. I, Roxanne Lopez. Do solemnly swear and affirm. Do solemnly swear and affirm. LENNY DEPAUL:
Roxanne Lopez, she's one of the best detectives
here in New York. ROXANNE LOPEZ: That I
will faithfully execute-- LENNY DEPAUL: So as US
Marshals, we have the ability to recruit the best out
there and to make them part of our team. I will perform the duties. With integrity. With integrity. Professionalism. Professionalism. And impartiality. And impartiality. - So help me God.
- So help me God. Congratulations. Thank you. My partner, Oscar, is
coming I have a good case I want to present to you. Well, good. Do you think we can--
we can start right away? Absolutely. All right. This is awesome. I'm excited about being
on the US Marshals team. [KNOCK] Hey, Michy. - Hey, how are you, girl?
- Good to see you, girl. I hear we're going to
be working together. Oh, good, welcome aboard. Another on my case. So it'll be good. [MUSIC PLAYING] [DIGITAL SOUND] ROXANNE LOPEZ: I brought
my partner, Oscar, just wanted you to meet him, OK? Hey, Michy. MICHELLE MENDEZ:
Hey, how are you? My pleasure.
ROXANNE LOPEZ: This is Oscar. Ah, yeah. Looking forward
to working with you. Good to have you guys. ROXANNE LOPEZ: I just want to
go over a couple of details, if you've got a
couple of minutes. Yeah, sure. Welcome aboard. Thank you. OK. What have you got? This is our target,
Carlos Aguilar. His nickname is Pa-- Palomo?
OSCAR LOPEZ: Palomo. ROXANNE LOPEZ: Yeah. Allegedly, two years ago,
he raped a 13-year-old. We tried to arrest
him, but he took off. He's been on the run ever since,
and, now, I need your help. This is the girl,
just so you could see. The crime took place
in Spring Valley. She's-- how's she doing? She's doing OK. You know, it's tough. The rapes are the most
sensitive ones we deal with. You feel them. At the time when the crime
happened, within a few months, he fled to Guatemala. LENNY DEPAUL: So two years
ago, you went looking for him, but he fled the country and
has been on the run ever since? Yes. OK. ROXANNE LOPEZ: But we got word
that he is back, been seen in Spring Valley. OSCAR LOPEZ: There has
been sightings of him, but we haven't been able
to confirm those sightings. He's in and out. ROXANNE LOPEZ: But
I did find something that looks really, really good. His name popped up in
Florida at a restaurant that he's been working
there for a few months, and we think that's
going to be a good lead. What your gut feeling? Florida, New York? It's really hard to say. We're 50-50. We're not sure exactly
where he could be. Why don't we do this-- why
don't-- work your sources, stay here. Good deal. You know this guy, right? OSCAR LOPEZ: Know him well. Can you travel? I can travel. Florida. It's a good job. Let's get this guy
off the street. [MUSIC PLAYING] South Florida, vacation
capital of the world. We'll get the office
here to pick us up. Time to go to work. MAN (SINGING): This
is a one more round. It's going down,
ready for the title, looking for the
[INAUDIBLE] one more round. "Carlos Ruben Aguilar." 5' 7"? He's not that big of
a guy, I guess, eh? OSCAR LOPEZ: Yeah,
he's 5' 7", 5' 8". And he has a habit of, uh,
of, uh, styling his eyebrows. See it there-- LENNY DEPAUL: Oh, what
you don't do that? OSCAR LOPEZ: No, I tried
that one time with the tape at my girlfriend's request,
and that was the last time. [LAUGHTER] That hurt like hell. I was like [RIP SOUND]. [DIGITAL SOUND] LENNY DEPAUL: Getting ready
to hook up with some old faces here in Fort Lauderdale
at a local US Marshals office. What you guys doing here? Working on a case. Oh, OK. Yeah, it's their backyard. They know the lay of the land. They're going to put us
right onto this guy, Aguilar. What you got, Barry? What's his address look like? This is the address that
he uses on all his employment applications. The Marshals in New
York gave us an address of a restaurant where our
suspect, Carlos Aguilar, was working at down here. We went out and checked it out. He's not working
there any longer, but he did list an address
on his application. This is something we
need to take a look at. OSCAR LOPEZ: Let's
shake some trees. Yeah, let's go. [MUSIC PLAYING] MAN (SINGING): On the avenues,
I know what can happen to you. Another victim of the
system if they capture you. Carlos is-- you know
his street name is Palomo. That's what they call
him on the street. We had information about
him being in Florida, so those guys are looking down
there, but with our informants here, I think we have a good
chance of getting better intel. Hopefully, we can get some
information of his whereabouts. Hey, what's up, man? Everything good?
What's going on? You got a minute? What's up? You see this guy here? [INAUDIBLE] No. No. No. No luck. We're going to keep looking
for him till we find him. This is someone that I know. [DOOR KNOCK] And he goes by the
street name Monica. [SPEAKING SPANISH] Oh, si. ROXANNE LOPEZ: At least we
know he was here a week ago. So that's really
good information. In the meantime, my
partner, Oscar, is down with Michy and Lenny, and
they're looking for him in Fort Lauderdale, but, hopefully,
we'll get lucky and find Carlos before they do. [MUSIC PLAYING] [DIGITAL SOUNDS] OFFICER (ON RADIO): We're just
gong to take a left right here, make the first right. LENNY DEPAUL: We're getting
ready to hit a house where we think Aguilar is
probably laying his head. We get on to this address from
one of his work applications. He's possibly armed. We don't know what to expect. OFFICER (ON RADIO): That
yellow house right there, next one, on your
right-hand side. Let's go. I'm ready to go. Let's go get this guy. [MUSIC PLAYING] [DOOR KNOCK] OFFICER: He's in the back.
OFFICER: Back door! OFFICER: Come on.
Back door! Coming around. Sit down. [SPEAKING SPANISH] LENNY DEPAUL: No, it's not him. This isn't our suspect. All right, move inside. He might be hiding. Check back there for him. Clear. OFFICER: Clear! OFFICER: [INAUDIBLE] [SPEAKING SPANISH] [INAUDIBLE] OFFICER: Room clear. LENNY DEPAUL: Oscar,
is he staying in here? OSCAR LOPEZ: No,
here's the deal. He's saying Carlos hasn't
been staying here in a month. So we're trying to get
to the bottom of this. LENNY DEPAUL: We need to know
where he's laying his head. Where is he sleeping? I think he's avoiding the
questions because we might stumble on some things that
they don't want us to see. I just found these in the
apartment just sitting there. What do we got here? You got drugs in there? That's no good. That's not-- now
I got more coming? Oh, my god, yeah. Oh. You're going to have a
problem-o if more stuff keeps coming out of there. [MUSIC PLAYING] We've been questioning the
friend of our fugitive, Carlos Aguilar, also known as Palomo. Palomo is our suspect in the
rape of a 13-year-old girl. He's a pretty bad guy. We found what appears to
be drug paraphernalia, some baggies with some residue in it,
but not enough to charge him. He thinks he's jammed up though,
so that's-- that's good for us. [PHONE RING] Hello. LENNY DEPAUL: That's the
girlfriend's address? MICHELLE MENDEZ: Yeah. LENNY DEPAUL: We're
good-- we're good to go. Our guy came through for us. Aguilar has got a girlfriend
not too far from here. The problem is, we don't know
if he's down here in Florida or up in New York
where he was seen last. It's going to be a
long night ahead of us. [MUSIC PLAYING] [DIGITAL SOUND] You know, Carlos' picture has
been on my desk for two years. We've been looking
for him ever since. He thinks he got away. Well, you know, they--
they come back thinking, oh, the police
forgot about them, but we didn't forget about him. So we're just stopping
over at this parlor. I got one of my sources, a guy
that knows everybody's face. Hey! [SPEAKING SPANISH] MAN: [SPEAKING SPANISH] OK, he says he's definitely
in Florida, information that he might still
be down there. So that's, uh, I
gotta call Lenny. Hey, boss, how you making out? I got some, uh, new
intel I want to give you. LENNY (ON PHONE): Hey, you
better stand by a few minutes. We got an address that
looks pretty good. So we're going to hit it. [MUSIC PLAYING] [DIGITAL SOUND] LENNY DEPAUL: She's in there. [DOOR KNOCK] OFFICER: She's on the patio. She's up. Move inside. OFFICER: Police! Police! The house is clear. LENNY DEPAUL: His
girlfriend's in here. She's been dating
him for four months. That's him? Where's he from? California? Florida? New York? You don't know where he's from? LENNY DEPAUL: I don't think
she's got any idea how bad this guy is. I mean, he's wanted
for questioning of raping a 13-year-old kid. OFFICER: Ah-oh. What's this? Who's-- LENNY DEPAUL: We're on a
preliminary search, just come up with several different names
and different IDs for our guy. OFFICER: How many
names has he got? [DIGITAL SOUND] LENNY DEPAUL: We've got to box
out of Aguilar's girlfriend's house filled with some
authentic fake ID for him, uh, some driver's licenses,
birth certificates, social security cards. So it looks like he's facing
some identity theft charges too. I'm going back
to my office to run some of the names and
addresses found in this box. He's definitely down here. We just got to find out where. [MUSIC PLAYING] LENNY DEPAUL: Hey,
Rox, you on the air? ROXANNE (ON PHONE):
Yeah, go ahead. You got your bags
packed, darling? Things look pretty
good down here. ROXANNE (ON PHONE):
That's awesome! [MUSIC PLAYING] [DIGITAL SOUND] [TIRE SQUEAL] Been down here a few times? - No.
- No? No. I'm in town to go
to South Beach. LENNY DEPAUL: Ah. [MUSIC PLAYING] Feeling lucky, Rox? I don't know. I'm feeling good, man. I hope so. [MUSIC PLAYING] [DIGITAL SOUND] Let me say hi.
Did you meet Chris? I didn't get your name.
I'm sorry. Hi. Nice to meet you. Roxanne. BARRY GOLDEN: All right,
guys, we spent last night running all these names that
we found in the apartment of the girlfriends. Looks like we got a solid hit. [MUSIC PLAYING] This house is going
to be our target. One of the cops
that works at beat has seen our suspect at that
house as recently as yesterday. Let's go. Let's do it. [INAUDIBLE] [MUSIC PLAYING] LENNY DEPAUL: With
a crime like this, it's the alleged rape
of a 13-year-old child, this guy needs to go away. Good luck. Nothing is better than
sitting in that car, right, on the way
there to hit the house. I can't even
explain the feeling. You guys set up on
the target location. We got a pretty good
perimeter set up. Barry, Michy, and Roxanne,
they got an eyeball on the front door. Oscar is one of the
Florida Marshals. They're set up on the
south side of the target. We'll sit right here. We're down the block. If he comes down this way,
I'll pick him off down here. Now we sit and wait. We'll see if the
gods are with us. [DIGITAL SOUND] OK, we need something to
happen within two hours, and I'll feel good. [MUSIC PLAYING] Now we should be all
right, kind of wait it out. [MUSIC PLAYING] Man, front seat, we got
a-- hold on a minute. If they guy jumps
out, this is our boy. Roxanne, look at
this van pulling up. Look at the passenger. Look at him. Look at him. It might be him. Look at the passenger. ROXANNE LOPEZ: Oh, I can't see. Hold on. Stay on-- stay on him. Did you look? ROXANNE LOPEZ: Oh! [MUSIC PLAYING] [DIGITAL SOUND] LENNY DEPAUL: Roxanne,
look at this van pull up. Look at the passenger. Oh, look at him,
it might be him. Look at the passenger. ROXANNE LOPEZ: Oh, I can't see. Hold on. Set up. Stay on. Stay on him. ROXANNE LOPEZ: Oh,
it looks like-- no, that ain't him.
MICHELLE MENDEZ: No? ROXANNE LOPEZ: Nope. LENNY DEPAUL: You sure? ROXANNE LOPEZ: Yep. LENNY DEPAUL: No. OFFICER: No? LENNY DEPAUL: Copy OFFICER: Got excited
there for a second. LENNY DEPAUL: Your
heart rate goes up for a minute, doesn't it? [DIGITAL SOUND] We've been sitting on his
house hoping this guy shows up. Roxanne, Barry, and Michy,
they got a pretty good eye on the front of the place. Oscar is with one of
the Florida Marshals. They're set up on the
south side of the target. We're down the block,
so if he does show up, he's got no place to run. [MUSIC PLAYING] [DIGITAL SOUND] [MUSIC PLAYING] We've been sitting out here
for about four hours now. And we'll stay out here forever. It's getting dark. Son of a bitch. And there's a lot
of boredom, obviously. Hopefully, you got a little
backpack full of goodies that you can survive
on while you're out here for several hours. One of the most
important things is to have a good,
portable bathroom with you. I've got to make it. [LAUGHTER] That's it. Cap it up. LENNY DEPAUL: Oh, that's great. You've got to do
what you gotta do. ROXANNE LOPEZ: I was doing
a prostitution detail, my mother's working,
and the lady comes running into my mother's
job, and she's gasping, and she's, like, oh, Blanca,
you should've told me. We could have got
your daughter help. I didn't know that
she was doing drugs. My mother's, like, what? MICHELLE MENDEZ: Wow! She's, like, I saw
her the other day. Now, of course, this is going
to sound really terrible, but I was-- I was hooking, so I got to look
like the hookers by my place. MICHELLE MENDEZ: Yeah. But it was like
a talk for a while. My poor mother, I
felt so bad for her. They were going to tell-- they were saying I was
like on the streets, and I was like an gore,
and I was doing drugs. My poor mother. Gray car just pulled in. [RADIO CHATTER] MICHELLE MENDEZ: Oh,
that might be him. That might be him. That might be him.
- That's him. LENNY DEPAUL: That's him.
That's him. That is him.
You guys, get off the air. The guy is here. He's at number 3 right now. (ON
RADIO) He is at number three. He ran in that house quick That's him. He pulled in that silver car. He's-- he's in the apartment? He left the door open. You want-- you want-- want to box him in? ROXANNE LOPEZ: Park right
next to the white van. The mini van. OFFICER: All right, stand
by guys as he's walking out. Stand by. ROXANNE LOPEZ: Let
him get in the car. MICHELLE MENDEZ: He's
walking to his car right now. ROXANNE LOPEZ: Oscar-- MICHELLE MENDEZ: We're
going to try block him in inside the car. [MUSIC PLAYING] OFFICER: All right. OFFICER: Roll up.
Roll up. Go.
Go. Let's go.
Showtime. Let's go. OFFICER: Move.
Move. Move.
Move. OFFICER: Go, go, go. OFFICER: Go, go, go.
- Roll up. Roll up. Move in. [TIRE SQUEAL] ROXANNE LOPEZ: Stop the car! Shut the car off! Shut the car off! Get out.
[INTERPOSING VOICES] - [SPEAKING SPANISH]
- Get out! Get out! [SPEAKING SPANISH] He's down.
He's down. He's down.
He's down. He's down.
- I got to say. No, back off. [INAUDIBLE] [MUSIC PLAYING] Positive ID. WOMAN: How do you feel? Hey. ROXANNE LOPEZ: I felt good. I knew as soon as
the car pulled up, and he just popped right out,
I knew-- we knew it was him. LENNY DEPAUL: Put
up a little flight, but, uh, that ended quick. Kind of knew he was beat. He was shocked to see the guys
from New York here and Roxanne. You speak English? ROXANNE LOPEZ: He
speaks good English. Huh, what's your name? What's your name? Carlos what? OK. LENNY DEPAUL: Rox? She's not on the
task force 48 hours, and she's got this
guy locked up. Good job. [MUSIC PLAYING] ROXANNE LOPEZ: He got away
with it for a long time. He's been running
around for a long time knowing what he's
gotten away with. Piece of cake. ROXANNE LOPEZ: And,
today, it came to an end. Whew! ROXANNE LOPEZ: Justice is done. [MUSIC PLAYING]
