I Tried Being In A Japanese Band For A Day

as somebody who enjoys many aspects of japanese culture one aspect i've never been able to get myself into is visual k i'm sure that some of you watching this are very familiar with visual k or are like me and know absolutely nothing so in this video i've been lucky enough to get access to join one of these visual k bands in japan and go on stage and perform with them so today i'll be getting help from chisa the vocalist of akme but if i'm going to go on stage i need to look the part he's kindly taken me to one of the stores where he gets his outfits for visual k so whilst i try and find the perfect outfit today i'll be asking him a couple of questions in the hopes that at the end of this video i won't embarrass myself too much on stage the music genre is called visual k is that right because i don't i don't know anything about visual okay sorry so even though that acme is a metal band per se that doesn't mean that every single visual k band is mental visual k is purely the visual and presentation aspect of the music how did you get into visual cam and joining uh a band of sorts of wow i like this thing i feel like i'm royalty sadly this outfit didn't work so on to the next one how long have you been doing visual k4 june angel over 10 years yes oh my god you look so young you look way younger than me hey no [Laughter] hmm i feel like i sell carpets it's so cool on a scale of we had to try and find another pair what do you like about performing visual care the most important my legs are tight yeah i like this this is nice and long i'm always in skin tight stuff it seems to videos you can open it or close it so if you weren't wearing pants you could show thought yeah i was going to say i was like i could be like start an only fan's account like this okay should try it i'll grab the jacket real quick i don't know if it suits me but it's cool oh my god that's got a lock a lot of gold on it this is a look gold experience i asked chiesa if there's gonna be anything that i would see tomorrow at the concert that was a bit unusual or unique to visual k and he explained this something called furitsuke which is something where the audience does specific movements for each band during the shows yeah my ass is too big for these pants i cannot get it on maybe you should shave your legs no no i'm not shaving my legs i've never shaved my legs for like a joke okay cool cool out of ten what do you think [Music] so should i wear this for tomorrow then good so i guess now that we've found our outfit for tomorrow i should change back into my normal clothes i like this though this is fun i feel like i'm about to take over the world and give a monologue as to why i'm the best right now we lean what am i supposed to say to that god i'm so awkward oh yes yeah you could camera why do i always end up shaving for [ __ ] videos i have a coffee with me last time i did a shop like this i was going to a host club and today we're going to a concert so that's a bit different but i am excited i have no idea what to expect today i don't think i can get across just quite how nervous i am for this i am going to go on stage in front of a bunch of people that i don't know and just headbang not really perform basically just be the local clown for an evening and cheese has been really good to me so far and i really don't want to let him down because he's also a fellow jojo fan so we're basically soul brothers yeah i'm wondering do you have any tips for me today when i go on stage with what i should do okay okay oh good luck i'll leave you guys to it i don't know before the concert started i noticed that the band members and the manager were frantically unboxing a bunch of polaroid pictures i found out that one of the biggest sources of revenue for japanese bands and especially those in visual k is the checky checky is where right before the show the band members in their full attire take polaroid pictures and sign them they then sell these polaroids to the audience for about ten dollars each and this is one of the biggest ways that japanese bands make money as we all know that streaming services don't pay nearly as much as they should how many polaroid primers would you use for one of them it's about two but yeah you always want to have backup right right right you're like a porn star producer right now just like that's right interrupting you know just being like you're [ __ ] good case you couldn't tell this is chisa he's the main vocalist of acme i think a lot of people would see a band selling polaroids and assume that it's some glorious photo shoot but no it's actually just some alleyway or some stairwell and i asked chisa what he thought about that so i'm gonna have them check and make sure that none of them are blurry that ladies and gentlemen is free money we're gonna make more for the second set with the new costumes so just printing money literally this is acme's guitarist shogo the first question i asked him obviously was how did he get into visual cake but i wanted to know what he was doing before that anime artist i also asked if he enjoyed doing these polaroids i was curious to know what he thought was a big appeal of visual career and as you'll come to see he's a bit of a character this is how he joined the band but surely he had some interest in visually before this right no so i asked what he was doing before visual k his favorite metal band is bring me the horizon and he's actually played alongside slipknot at ozfest before i also wanted to know how long music had played a part in harrow's life and of course what his favorite things about being a rockstar were i also had to ask which audience he prefers more japanese or western when talking to each of the members it was quite obvious very quickly that all of these guys had very different personalities and i was really excited to see how that would all come together on the stage okay wow this is the event it's all girls oh they're finally coming on stage it's weird right no one is screaming or anything it's so odd like normally you would hear cheers by now [Music] as you can imagine it is quite awkward being filmed just watching a concert but it was obvious that these guys were just [ __ ] pros they were amazing i mean listen to this [Music] that was a very loud scream that was very loud all that was going through my head during this amazing concert was how much i was [ __ ] myself i'm going to have to go on stage in front of a crowd like this and not embarrass myself how i don't have talent i'm not entertaining it's really cool though as we all know there has been a global pandemic recently and until very recently bans were not allowed to perform but they have now been allowed to perform with some restrictions this includes no screaming but that didn't stop this audience they found the perfect substitute it's really strange seeing people play with a bunch of inflatable chickens and squeezing them of course i wanted to join in myself [Music] i somehow make everything i do look awkward it's a talent i know right connor wave that pain away wave that awkwardness away because you are scared you do not want to go on stage [Music] about halfway through something started to happen on stage that left me quite baffled [Music] what the [ __ ] that was super loud but that was really cool it's also really interesting seeing what the audience is doing like a lot of them just didn't move and then when they had banged their head bang like a unit it was really cool really funny that this is the way that they have to adapt to coronas everyone just brought screaming chickens i wonder was that a thing that they all like like the band said or like people just brought it um they posted on the twitter like bring morocco's bring your choice of noisemaker people really like chicken everyone just brought the chickens it's really cool but also super daunting i think because they also didn't move much like the crowd doesn't really do much it's gonna make it more painful for me to go on stage and have to try and like get them excited because it also seemed like no matter how amazing the singing was they were just like yes well we have a chicken cheer for you so well there'll be at least one chicken cheering for me when i'm done so that's that's good to know what an amazing manager all right let's go let's go back into the room after the first concert ended i had to go back to the changing room to just ask them about what i'd just seen what was the mascot it was very confusing to see it just happened [Music] does that mean you're going to be adopting a new mascot no you don't want to is it exhausting after the concert ended we also managed to find a fan that was kind enough to let us interview her first of all i'm curious how long have you been a fan of acme do you go to every single concert that they have every country did you go to america to watch them not just watch them mind you go to every single concert they did in america i wonder what keeps you coming back and keeps you dedicated to the band i'm curious then as a fan because you've been to american and japanese concerts which one do you prefer japanese content is very quiet do you like that kind of style more or do you like the more outlandish american style american american girls and finally i had to ask what is the most appealing thing about acme well thank you so much you're just going to get someone all right that was interesting question are we doing this okay so he's going to show me some christmas pictures i have no idea what it is cross dress oh yes watashi this is cheese's side hustle you look so hot what the how do you do that like what do you do this for i don't like uh cross dress you don't like it yeah about my phone your fan likes i like it okay do you get paid for that i take checky oh yeah he takes and and buy online so how many how many do you sell when you do that but many many money new video ideas boys i mean yeah you look you look hot what the [ __ ] make much if i saw that on tinder i would swipe yes yeah what the [ __ ] you just do it because you it makes money yes and i respect it have you ever had um a relationship and you've had to show the girl like this is me today i have to wear a lot of women's clothes on my channel i don't have to i thought i do it because i like me that's so good how did you find out you were a hot girl how do you find that out she's sad do you like wearing the makeup no no me neither me neither i look like i'm from twilight i'm still nervous about performing i need some last minute advice from you enjoy how can i enjoy when i'm cringy as [ __ ] one day we'll do like a james bond video and i can actually be like sexy until then it's this finished oh wow how do i look camera do i look beautiful repulsive so i wanted to have the full visual k artist experience so that means getting my very own checky there's no way we're selling more than one if we sell more than one i'll be impressed so right now we're going to take the steaky which is the checking stage typical visual k poses right oh yeah like that i feel like hide the pain harold but just with like extra steps and have a lot of makeup so one thing bandman do is they warm the chucky with their hands okay especially when you take photo sessions with fans it's like take my life it looks like a photoshop like version of me it doesn't look real no that's perfect i like this coat i really do i do feel like zephyr off not smashed sephiroth like evil zephyr off not really not nothing's gonna prepare me to go on stage and just be a clown but at least the makeup honestly kind of helps it's not me right it's visual cami it's like bruce wayne right but instead of batman i have a questionable adult form i don't really know what it is i have no idea what i'm trying to say here i think i'm just way too nervous and i'm talking until i stop being nervous and it's not working the whole point of this video is so that i can experience the true visual k feel i want to feel what those artists feel but i won't lie the youtuber pardon me is like i want to stay in my room and not go on stage i cannot wait for this to be over i really want to go home and play cyberpunk not sponsored yeah i could be in cyberpunk right now yo truth or dick size at home [ __ ] i put my lips on it i'm renting these clothes because they're too expensive so i can't choose your dicks so those are gifts from fans from that preview session if i don't get a single on-brand item i'm done i'm quitting i'm quitting my visual care career i better get some louie or gucci i'll accept gucci minimum i'm just a few moments away from going on stage so i panickedly asked anyone in the room i could for some help to teach me how to not embarrass myself when i go on stage i just won't look at the audience if i look at them i'll get nervous yeah fans love this [ __ ] too to make matters worse i found out that this performance is being live streamed to a bunch of fans oh god mine is showtime here we go i hate life right now i'm so nervous [Music] um [Music] oh [Music] foreign [Music] foreign [Music] i'm not going to quit my day job [Music] [Music] never have i ever had three minutes feel so damn long in my life i had neck pain for four days after this and thus my four minutes of suffering was over oh my mouth is so dry why is it so dry you look not nervous at all yeah alcohol helps i don't know how they do that for like an hour i'm exhausted i already don't know what i didn't even think i'm gonna get my makeup fixed again because i have to go and take pictures with the fans that i don't have maybe i made some new friends with my performance of head banging and holding a chicken and not being able to use it because you can't hear anything i guess i'm just gonna get my makeup fix oh my god oh my god someone knew who you were oh my god wow someone on the live stream recognized me it's hard man i have a lot of respect for those guys i mean doing that twice in one day but i do for five minutes i'm exhausted just gonna put this out there might be because i'm unhealthy but people probably weren't gonna buy the pictures of me on my own so i needed to take some with the bend so there's a little more leverage and i was only selling mine for one dollar instead of the usual 10. all right let's go let's go and sell my picks not the dick feels like i'm doing something illegal you know polaroids always make it seem illegal you know what i mean but of course the anxiety isn't over yet next i'll be going into a room where all the people who just attended the concert can buy my polaroids whilst i just stand there awkwardly oh my god oh she's gonna buy five oh okay that's all wow how embarrassing i made a profit though did we have to do some sneaky tactics and cut our prices down to near nothing yes we did welcome to stonks the youtube anything to going on stage with the band members itself is uh certainly a journey uh that i wouldn't forget but my god i am ready to go home my face feels heavy i want a bath i'm ready to go home my
