hello and welcome back this is Steve from ski coaching online and in this video we're going to look at three ways you can help get from a snow plow into some parallel skis um the first one is being able to make that ski go from its Inside Edge to its outside edge so as we're skiing down here what you'll see if I'm in a snow plow as I move around the mountain um I'm on the inside of both of my skis okay so the first tip is try and make your snowplow a bit smaller and what that will do as you go around the corner with this inside foot the one that's a bit lighter try flexing that leg and seeing if you can roll from your big toe onto your little toe what that will do as you can see with my skis it ends up rolling on so I'm on the same side of both skis so right now I'm on the inside of my skis I'm on the left one here here and the right one here what I want to do is roll this one onto my little toe so now as I ski parallel I'm on both left hand sides of the ski so try that one out the first tip is with rolling over on your edges so when you're in your snowf make it a bit smaller make that inside leg Flex slightly by bending it and seeing if you can lift up that big toe and roll that inside foot onto the little toe side the second tip comes to twisting that ski sometimes uh people have it flat enough or they Edge it enough whatever but they don't twist that ski enough for it to match the outside one and be parallel so let me show you what that looks like so as I'm skiing down here in my snow plow I'm moving I'm twisting that left foot a lot this right one's kind of just hanging out and not really doing much so what we want to try to do is with my knees I want them to point them the same direction at the end so with this left one here I bend it and I actually try to point my knee over to the same side of the hill but I'm pointing that one there on the outside so way I think about it is if this run was lined with trees down the side what I'm trying to do is point both of my knees at the trees and what we all feel is with that inside leg it's lighter and that knee is nice and soft cuz it's bent but you really have to point here and it really feels like you have to bend that knee a lot and angle it towards where the trees would be so remember Point your knees to the trees inside leg is bent I'm making sure I twist that leg so my knees end up facing the same direction at the end of the corner and that will mean that those skis then are parallel through the end of the corner too so we've played with twisting the ski we've played with tipping the ski now we're going to play with are we standing on it too much or are we standing on the right ski so as I come down here in my triangle what might see a lot of is people actually lean more of themselves okay into the turn which happens to put me more on that inside ski so what I want to actually do is keep my nose over my outside toes so that way then if I do that it frees up that inside ski to be able to spin nice lightly it can then match parallel towards the end of the corner so again I don't let that nose and that head drop to the inside of the turn like this that means I'll probably end up staying in that snow plow what I want to do is keep that nose over the outside toes makes that inside foot nice and light makes it way easier then to spin those skis together and point them the same direction at the end of the corner and ski in a parallel skis
