hi guys i hope everyone's doing really well and staying out of trouble what i'd like to present today is a really important movement that we need something that's going to help us greatly become parallel i want to show you guys a neat exercise that i like using a lot and it gives really good sensation and a good understanding of what we need to do with our feet a few key mistakes that people make is when they're trying to become parallel it's the initiation or the start of the new turn that people have a trouble with and usually what happens is people stay on the downhill edge the downhill leg too long and they start stepping out and that starts new turn what they're missing is a simultaneous edge release so both feet need to roll and flatten down the hill and that's what's going to give us the control to start the new turn [Music] we're going to start off in a traverse position stopped with our poles like this and what we need to focus on is rolling and tipping the feet down the hill like this and what we need to do is roll our feet sideways and down so the uphill foot here is rolling and touching the arch down the hill and the downhill foot here is rolling and touching the little toe and what we're trying to do is just flatten the skis that's it nothing else just roll and flatten the skis once our skis are flat this is where we should be able to start taking a bit of momentum the next movement i need to do is make sure that also my hip starts moving in that direction and this means that our our hips are moving from here the inside of the old turn with the help of our ankles rolling flattening and then settling over our feet and we have to be very patient at this point we have to roll flatten the skis and let the tips enter the fall line and once they've entered the four line this is where we can start tipping and edging the skis into the j-turn part of the turn so in order of what we need to do is rolling flattening with our feet down the hill our hips also need to move and once we've reached our skis to be flat once our skis are flat this is where our ski tips should start tracking naturally down the hill and here we have to be very patient and not rush anything anyway guys i hope this helps you become better at parallel and it's a good challenge for any level [Music] [Music] oh [Music] if you'd like to learn more and improve your skiing i highly recommend you head over to the projected productions website and sign up for the all-access pass that has seven plus hours of ski instructional material from the world's best ski coaches and instructors
