how's your stress level it's pretty low how's your adrenaline stress all that you're fine yeah sweet all of the skills edging skills turning skills pressure skills all happened on that run let's go back up to the flat get some more mileage and so you just start to gain a sensation and experience of what these skis do for you okay let's go on up i'm not going to give you any more information yet at this stage i i know where i want to go next but i'm going to do another run before we go there okay so let's head let's go the same way we went last time okay just look ahead where we're going you can turn straight run whatever you like okay your comfort's your guide here okay just look look down the hill where you're going really anticipate what's coming up put some little micro weight on your right and now this is really good keep going i want you to notice kelly all of the turning is coming from your legs and your feet it is not coming from your upper body you're not throwing your upper body around at all you're working your feet like you're working the horse with your yeah your thighs your feet the pressure you can also think about riding a bike when you ride a bike and you're pedaling one foot gets more pressure the other gets lighter there you go even that foot that gets lighter that leg can even get a little shorter the right leg can get a little shorter the left leg can flex a little bit more every body part plays a role and when you're yeah that the inside knee your left knee flexes more now your right knee flexes more than your left now your left knee flexes more than your right it's a little like riding a bike beautiful it's very micro delicate little movements flex that right knee flex your left knee while you're steering that's beautiful the eyes the eyes are huge aren't they and then you you start really feeling what's going on with your with your body with the pressure and all okay let's go back to our steep pitch and now and work on our side slipping and again kind of as a reminder kelly when we sideslip okay we're gonna number our edges number one two three four okay when you're side slipping you're on edge two and four okay yeah and and remember yeah to get on edge four you gotta tip that thigh away a little bit we don't want this thigh to do that right it tips away okay and and then we can slip and kind of butter it down the pitch that's right here we go let's try to fit in a bunch of turns here kelly really focusing on your very subtle foot pressure and your active steering active turning of your legs look at that new turn actively steer [Music] that is nice all right let's do a little side slip right here kind of to remember it's such a new thing yeah it's really figuring out that delicate balance isn't it let's stop nice stop yeah that's all right we're gonna i just i wanted you to prove to yourself you can stop okay now we're gonna let go of the mountain and slip your edges grab the mountain good slip now let's stop that's an edging skill right there you rolled your edges to the mountain okay let's let go and now let's grab the mountain and stop that's an edging sweet okay now kelly when you roll notice this is your uphill inside knit leg okay your uphill inside leg that knee is flexed more than here okay and it's it does that when you're turning your outside leg is longer your inside leg gets a little shorter that's normal when i say shorter i mean more flexed inside knee and here on this steeper terrain where we're able to get some turn shape for our speed control you are managing your edges really well because you're not high on your edges you're managing it so your skis are pretty flat and that's what you need to start moving into parallel okay we want to keep those skis flat and then you're going to manage the pressure between your feet okay so i'll go behind you we've had a couple runs you're getting you're starting to get a feel for what your skis can do for you okay no rush yeah yeah nice active with your legs it's all coming from your legs and you got some patience just active yep nice then that inside leg yeah now you're matching with it it got shorter a little bit lighter it bends a little more there you're matching for your parallel look at that that left leg matches bring it in wow kelly look at that so how's the comfort level yeah how's the sketch level feeling yeah let's go the same way and then you can feel some of your sense of accomplishment you are blending your skills you're blending your pressure and you're steering with your edging okay you're blending all of that and and that's and you're working that into your parallel okay you're whether you know it or not that's what's going on go ahead and lead the way yeah your legs and lower body are so active i can just see it i can see a difference between the activity of your inside and outside leg just working all those nuance savvy delicate movements okay now there's a little more room yeah let's try to blend in that parallel so that inside leg gets a little bit shorter a little softer steer that left foot yeah just steer that right foot while your left foot matches you're working your edge control beautifully because your skis are pretty flat and at this stage that's what we want flat skis so we can steer yeah yep that's very active your posture is beautiful you're not over bending at the waist remember those ankles and go ahead and stop or you know what's coming kelly so whatever you like you the pitch is coming however you'd like to negotiate that if it's a side slip um or if you want to try small little turns you
