[Music] welcome to rpg community college today i'm going to be showing you my strategy for the crusade management i actually had a lot of fun with this minigame and i thought it was a great addition to pathfinder but i've also seen that there's quite a few people out there that are struggling with it and i definitely have some tips and some tricks for them to make this a lot easier as you can see in the map here i've cleared through the entire thing and there's no fights left and i even did the vast majority of this with the bugs that were in the game for the crusade management on release these have been fixed now but it did make it a little bit harder like there was a bug that you got a permanent red banner that would drain your morale that was really annoying but i was still able to overcome that and i will also play in the lich mythic path so you get a perk for crusade management that makes it so that recruits cost a lot more resources to buy but when you defeat army you get free units and basically i was getting the downside of this part without getting the upside i wasn't able to get units after i killed an army so this definitely made it much more challenging but just because of like the the sheer strength of my army i was able to just breeze right through it and i had almost no problems if it wasn't for the red banner bug this would have been much much more easier i even made a couple mistakes too early on when i was uh building buildings when i didn't start building buildings in my capital i started building them into the little cities because i didn't know that you had to start building them in your capital in order to generate units that sucked but in the end it wasn't really that big of a deal yeah let's take it uh let's take a look at my army here by far the most important unit in my army is the marksman this is a upgrade from the archers and if there was any advice that i could give to anyone about crusader management the best decision that you could ever make for your crusade is to upgrade your archers and the marksmen these are by far the most powerful unit that you could ever get having a huge stack of them like this will just delete pretty much any unit off of the board every turn and with a high morale getting multiple attacks around on these things pretty much guarantees you a victory i even have another stack of archers over here the mongol sharpshooters these are all right they don't do quite as much damage but they're still a pretty strong unit the second best unit in my army is definitely the hell knights these units deal decent damage they have a lot of mobility and they're really tanky and with the strategy i'm going to show you a little bit later on they work very well in it then the rest of the units i have are specific to the lich mythic path but they can be replaced with other units like the vampires here they're basically a replacement for clerics like if i wasn't using vampires i would be using clerics like i don't know what it is with clerics but the enemy ai like really seems to want them dead so they'll really just go out of their way to attack them and it's the same with vampires too like i i definitely noticed this and they're just a really tanky unit and they're self-healing then we have skeletons this is basically a replacement for the fighter units they kind of feel the same role as like a melee dps unit that's just kind of all around good and then last we have zombies which is kind of just like a melee tanky unit they're not that amazing i pretty much just use them because i get a ton of them for free and really the the tanky units that you get in your army are kind of bad like i would much rather have another melee dps unit here if i wasn't using zombies i would find some other melee unit that did a lot of damage and throw them in here and another important thing that i do is i only have one army and this is to get my general too high as level as possible because your general gives his stats to your entire army so leveling him up and getting his stats up is just going to make your entire army more powerful this is kind of annoying like when you're on one side of the map and then a demon army is coming on the other side of the map but as long as you react immediately i've never had a problem getting over to that demon army i also went with the fighter general because it said that that general just has more attack and defense so that seemed really good to me i'm not sure if this was the best decision or not but it did work for me and when it comes to picking feats for your general when he levels up master maneuvers is so good that it's basically mandatory you should always get this feat other than that though i only focus on getting things that increase the offensive capabilities of my army because in the crusade combat the best defense you can have is offense how much damage the enemy units deal is proportional to how big the stack of units is that's attacking you so the harder you hit them the less damage they're going to deal which basically means if you invest into offense you're increasing how much dama you're gonna be increasing how much damage you deal and you're gonna be lowering how much damage the enemy deals while if you invest in the defense you're just investing in a defense but let's actually talk about how i deal with the enemy armies i think the best advice that i can give to anyone is that you should not be losing units well permanently permanently losing them you can lose them in combat but as long as after the fight they all get healed up in the infirmary you're fine if you start permanently losing units take this as a sign that your army is not strong enough and just be a little patient and wait and get some reinforcements you'd be very surprised at how much a round or two of reinforcements can do to increase the strength of your army especially in act 2 when you first start the crusade management it can be a huge difference maker and in act 2 if you can go through the entire thing without losing any units like i did that should set you up to have a great start in act 3 which is probably one of the best things that you can do to ensure the success of your crusade but when it comes to my strategy actually in combat what i like to do is actually to go on the offensive immediately i'll take my hell nights and i'll move them across the map and this allows me to dictate kind of where everyone like groups up and starts uh fighting it out and i want everyone to be battling like like as far away from my archers as possible so i move my helmets over there and i kind of just like bait them into that area because the enemy ai they have to choose between moving and not attacking anything or moving and attacking something you know they're always going to choose to move and attack something so you can kind of manipulate them and get them to go where you want them to go and i also kind of like to position the rest of my units to make it as hard as possible for them to move towards my archers anymore and i've found that this is actually the best way to keep your archers alive i've seen other people suggest strategies like putting your archers in the corner and then putting three units around them so they can never be attacked and while that's gonna keep your archers alive it's kind of a garbage strategy because then you have three units that are just sitting there doing nothing for like the first couple rounds of combat and aoe disables exists like stinking cloud and those fights are going to be very very hard for you to win there's also the strategy of holding off your unit's turn for the first round and letting the enemy move across the map but the problem with this is is that they move across the map and this is going to cause the battle to be like closer to your archers so there's much more of a chance that they're going to be able to move and attack your archers doing what i do is kind of the best strategy that i've found to keep my archers as safe as possible your hell nights are gonna have to take some hits but that's okay because they're pretty durable and any losses that you do suffer in combat more often than not are just going to be healed back up in the infirmary so you really don't lose anything and the last thing we talk about are buildings anyone who's played king maker is going to be pretty familiar with this system but in wrath of the righteous it is a lot less complex the only buildings i've seen that get a bonus from being adjacent to another building are the buildings that make troops and since the only troops that i really use in my strategy that are important are the archers i would just make sure to put them in a place where you can build four buildings on each side of them it's also important to know that you can't get a bonus from a building being like on the corner like touching the corners of the building they have to be actually touching a side of the building only buildings north east east south and west will provide bonuses for being adjacent to one another but other than that in your capital you can pretty much just build anything like i definitely prioritize a teleportation circle and then i wanted to build the buildings next to my archery range that you know increase the damage those are probably the most important things but also things to increase your infirmary size there's also a building that increases the size of your army that's a pretty important one but really this doesn't seem as important as it was in king maker but it definitely is helpful and then in the little villages that you kind of take back over from doing the crusade management um all i built in there was just a building that increases the archers that you get every week the building that makes it so you get more supplies every week and the watchtower so that if you ever fight in that area again your units are just a little stronger and that's all i've ever really had to do and that was that seemed actually like more than enough like i've never had a problem amassing a large army of archers and i've always had a ton of supplies to basically build like anything i needed and supplies definitely do seem like the bottleneck for a lot of the things that you want to do so i found it pretty useful to prioritize getting as many of those a turn as possible but i think that's gonna be all for this video i hope you learned a thing or two and if you'd like to continue your education enrollment here is free all you got to do is like and subscribe thanks for watching and i hope to see you again soon you
