Galarian Slowpoke may be SUPER Important! | Gnoggin Pokemon SWSH: Isle of Armor & Crowned Tundra

oh man that Pokemon direct huh it all comes together and Pokemon Sun and Moon but really though Blastoise got a GMAX form gal our form Legendary's Blastoise got a GMAX form there's new Reggie's Blastoise got a GMAX form but outside of that we not only have a ton more lore and folklore inspirations to dig into from that trailer alone but surprisingly one of the most important Pokemon we are getting in the DLC is slowpoke yeah really I know you're confused I was too at first but this Pokemon is so important he very well may be the reason we are going on these new adventures well that is if the folklore is going to fully inspire it and what I'm saying is they potentially I mean it's a speculation so who knows if it's true or not but they potentially based this slowpoke variant on a very important figure in the King Arthur mythos so let's break down the design first and then get into that Glorian slowpoke has three new traits three head mark wrinkles like he's thinking in distress he's worried and he also has this golden coloring on the tip of his tail and on his head so that's a reference to a crown obviously I mean gal our britain and britain and europe often had kings with golden crowns i mean it evolves into slow king with a king's rock and all and all so that's what that part of the skull is called it's the crown so it's it it's crown is gold but cook but why the forehead wrinkles well there is one king in the Arthurian mythos that is famous for being worried a majority of the time the Fisher King fitting since slowpoke is a fisherman it leaves its tail in the water and it accidentally has a shoulder bite on its tail as if it were a lure that's what becomes slow grow you know but who is the Fisher King and why is he so important well the Fisher King depending on the version of the story has his legs injured and or his third leg injured his good ol silico bruh his Onix his Metapod can't use harden anymore or string shot you get what I mean it left him so crippled that the only thing he can do anymore is sit in his boat and fish all day it was just fitting since slowpokes themselves also don't like moving much they're super lazy and they just lay on a rock and fish all day and during his many days of fishing and is of course worried because of his injury that means he can't make an air for his kingdom anymore he can't procreate it's quite upsetting so there are two specific stories about him in the King Arthur mythos the first involves the knight Percival in this story the only way our wounded friend could be healed is if a nobleman asked him a single question during dinner folklore is weird but this is why he sits in a boat not far from the Grail castle so he can invite a destined nobleman into the castle for dinner and hopefully in conversation get him to ask a question this wound up being Percival which eventually was of course invited into the castle for dinner the maidens they're warned him against asking too many questions [Music] so while eating dinner in the hall Percival noticed three servants walked by carrying three objects a bleeding Lance a candelabrum and a Grail first of all kept his mouth shut and never asked what any of these were for and after one of the servants carrying the objects found him was called at him because if only he had asked why the Lance was bleeding or what the Grail is for or whatever then the King would have been healed and the kingdom would have been saved from danger but he didn't because the maidens asked him against after this Percival was dishonored and thus went out wandering the earth facing challenges in shame after all this through multiple different means mythology is complicated he comes back and eventually heals the Fisher King this myth also partially inspired the Holy Grail later on in the Mintos this came in the story of Galahad aka the Grail Knight it was basically designed as a Lancelot but better kind of character to teach Lancelot a lesson in humility Galahad had a bunch of Knights set off on a journey to find the Holy Grail but even after they do find it it turns out only a worthy person can come in and claim the Grail Lancelot tried to claim the Grail but it spits a fireball at him throwing him backwards fried duck anyone comes with a leak no after this Galahad comes in and takes the Grail and is thus paraded around been praised for his worthiness during this he does things like heal the Fisher King of his injury and after all of that a bunch of angels come down and take him into heaven while he takes the grill with him because he's just so dang great why is this slowpoke so important well it may be the catalyst for everything it's why this new dlc has us catch one first before we go to the isle of armour two events may happen to get your character to go off on the adventure perhaps you will capture this Pokemon and then later fail as a trainer your champion Lee duties overcome you briefly you failed to reach your full potential so you go to the isle of armour to train the whole point of it after all is this dojo and at the dojo master mustard is the same man who trained Leon so you train with your new cub who mind you and you train alongside these Pokemon and thus truly reach your full potential and their whole potential throughout this journey you find something greater a form of enlightenment which also works well with the second DLC I've mentioned it before and obviously this is still speculation but Cal lurex seems to be partially a poky personification of the holy grail which you find at the end your dlc journey though perhaps even still slowpoke is not the worthy one it is your cub who turned to / Shifu it may reflect the whole Lancelot versus Galahad thing or perhaps since most Pokemon are not just one thing but a conglomerate and also we're just speculating you know maybe galore and slowpokes evolutions can give us some clues problem is they crossed out the bulk of them in the direct but I think we have a general idea here both slow bro and slow king swap the yellow for purple now we know it's yellow both in reference to actual hippos with these light patches but also because it eats a certain plant found in the gal our region perhaps when this plant is specified we'll know more but interestingly Gloria's slowpoke isn't water psychic type no it's just psychic type so I'm assuming it's going to gain a second type when it evolves but to what well Slowbro loses the shoulder on the tail and we can also see that it's not on the head and it's much more purpley there's not much to go off of beyond that though notably we don't see its left arm at all so what if the shoulder bit down on that instead this would mean Slowbro can more easily use the shoulder as a weapon perhaps like a mace or a Morningstar notably maces are a thing in the King Arthur mythos I mean most medieval weaponry is but maces are noteworthy as it's what King Arthur himself used when he first met Merlin there's also a Old Norse Old English Old Germanic God tear that loses his hand to thinner ear there may be something there but really we don't have much to go off of until we know more of us slowking however we do get to see more of Slowking it's darker the frills are longer and to me I see two possibilities here either the shoulder on its head is no longer decorative but like with Slowbro is alive and biting down lower on the head too perhaps perhaps acting as a full helmet rather than just a crown or maybe maybe it's a different Pokemon this time perhaps like Marini perhaps hmm it looks if you if you look past the scribbles it could be but of course loads and loads of quotes around Marini like three million quotes just like how there's a hex Tilian of quotes around the shoulder with Slowbro i mean my work how is that a shelter how are these the same thing so yeah it could be a Marini but you know the same way that this is a shelter but like in the anime Marini loved chomping down on James's head Plus Marini is based on the crown of thorns starfish I mean crown King King crown crown crown Wow but neither case I'm thinking the slow king here is it in control or whatever has attached itself to its head is the one in control now perhaps then it is acting as a puppet king a term used to describe when a king isn't really the one in control due to manipulation of outside forces usually these forces are malicious so perhaps dark psychic type I could even see some vampire inspirations here I mean the shoulder lives by sucking life out of the Slowbro so the same could be happening here with this slow King making slow King darkened empiric the longer frills the darker color that that's what sets off the idea plus vampires have roots deep in European myth and folklore and are for the most part immortal notably King Arthur becomes immortal after he visits the Isle of Avalon so maybe there are some connections to the Isle of Avalon and the Isle of Honor also and also notably in the King Arthur mythos there is Sir Mordred an evil king who is often depicted with armor and looks kind of spooky somewhat vampiric so maybe there really is something here your slowpoke turns on you when it evolves becomes dark so now it's up to you and a she foo to go through the aisle of armor at least canonically anyway you don't have to use slowpoke I assume no her Shifu you may have to who knows because anyway this is all speculation it's just speculation that should have been released weeks ago maybe even a monthly I've no idea why this is getting posted back when this was brand new information and it was topical and this would have gotten four times the views but uh let's just say slowpoke is my spirit animal so just how important will slowpoke be is he the key to the Grail a reference to an Ithorian King we'll find out later this year when the DLC comes up thanks for watching never stop using your noggin and check out noggin net
