there's just a lot of really bad swimmers 30 meters offshore Nicholas Potts Vaughn dies next victim the man is physically large so head lifeguard hopper calls the jet ski for backup as Nicholas instructions are lost in translation lifeguard and swimmer are quickly swept further from shore I got to him and I was trying to explain to him how to go on the board he didn't really get it so I tried to demonstrate and it goes I see and so he started hugging the board from underneath and I just thought you know it's poison officer min is from Taiwan while his approach may be innovative men's underside board hug technique isn't helping him or Nicola make it back to shore [Music] as habo picks up more swimmers nearby min is offered the express service with Mario but this doesn't go to plan a no it was sunk like a stone after almost 10 minutes since he first got in trouble min completes the 30 meter journey back to shore don't worry just a very tired because I I don't have insight shore I don't know how we've got our so far because there's no rips pulling him out but aza thinks he knows the answer but you got a GoPro MIDI keyboard yes so what he's gone video himself ended up out the back mostly unaware filming himself as well as being 200 meters from shore Gino poses another problem for trainee Jethro I got out there and the guy was at least double my wife he's a big Texas guy who's about six three and maybe he's 70 little center days or trynna he's probably about 70 pound a man I struggle getting on the ball or I think I might have rolled across so that was some negative points there not only does Jethro had his work cut out but every senior lifeguard on the beach is watching this is gonna take a long Jethro shifts to plan B the best way to get him in was just him holding on to the rope and paddling women's toe technique it's a bit slow especially with a guy that size the massive weight difference between Jethro and the big Texas to his little chicken arms can't ugly big block in it's a hot ask you when you got to paddle them in that fire against the wind and then I wasn't next all these people there were some moments where I was I was Kirsten I was cursing myself we're definitely at least a quarter the white of New Zealand there I've never seen anyone that far yeah I saw lay down get a beer Blake has three patients on one board but they're panicking makes the situation worse they just want to live they were just trying to survive in the process they were just panicky they were sinking you know that you're always gonna be back up in this shop no matter what we caught a wave face-to-face I just couldn't be bothered turning around so that I was just asking like what he had for lunch how was your day where you going now want to go for a coffee I got very up close and personal with in rescue Elliot wet yeah so I was sitting in the Rhino with Matty D down the southern end of the beach and we glanced over and noticed a classic example of people wrestling boogie board wrestling came about a couple of years ago when we just noticed abundance of Nan swimming tourists wrestling with their body boards to stay above the water [Music] [Music] as I was paddling out a female surfer went over and just aided him while I got out to him and and was just holding him up with her surfboard way goes on holiday from China his wife photographs this chapter of their adventure from the safety of a beach is very happy but if he is lalume you farm I'm worried okay on your stomach your eyes leave that like that oh line in your tummy yeah that's funny to be do to get him on the board he didn't seem to have very very good balance at all you get lay down on your tummy yup wrong way other way other way head up the front head on the front it's way goes first day in the search he doesn't appear to be a natural we both had the best interests in mind you know he wanted to go to the shore and and that's where I wanted to take him but it was uh it was used to be hard to get him on the board okay on your tummy here so after you know a bit of struggling he didn't he didn't want to get on the board so we sort of just casually just drifted back on in the sandbank and eventually the waves just sort of watch the scene and and he fell off a couple more times and yeah he was standing on shore
