hi i'm alex archbull and i've been buying and selling antiques since i was 9 years old from basements to scrap yards i'll look just about anywhere i can to find lost antiques and collectibles and sometimes i'll go big and buy everything i never know what's going to happen or who i'm going to meet this is our life this is our adventure and this is curiosity inc home honey [Music] hey guys welcome to today's episode it's a busy episode today as i'm on the road there's a few things going on one uh as some of you might know we are in the process of transitioning to be more of a social media and online presence what we do so i'm getting ready to do a big auction sale for all the stuff in my store on the other hand i'm still out buying stuff because i'm still an antique dealer i'm just not going to be an antique dealer with the storefront so i am headed over to a person's house today to see their collectibles and hopefully find a few cool things and um afterwards i'm gonna head over and check on the old uh daimler daimler uh limousine that i purchased and see i don't haven't visited a while and the guy might have another old car for sale over there so i'm gonna go have a look there anyway should be an interesting video with a little bit of unboxing i'll show you some of the stuff that i bought we'll go through some estate boxes together and hopefully just have fun so stay tuned for more adventure and uh let's get this going a while back a couple weeks ago i picked up a fairly rare car a 1948 daimler limousine and since i got it i've been doing a little bit of research on it i guess we don't need the for sale sign on anymore since it's now mine um the reason why i picked this car up is it it's all there it's in decent shape it is cool looking right um and it wasn't that much money just kind of the right combination of things that i really like in a vehicle so but there's i think a mystery to this vehicle a royal mystery that might be solved very soon now what some of you may know especially some of you watching in uh britain would be that the official car of the royal family the official royal vehicle was the daimler for many many years and uh this being in 1948 is right around the time that queen elizabeth got married and at that time they bought several of these vehicles to use for a tour that they did um through europe now there's a couple interesting things one it has a flag mount for a procession which is typical of what you see on a royal vehicle um it has a royal auto club car badge on the front which um i mean you could be anybody could be part of it if you ever google i'll show a picture of what their clubhouse looks like it's a freaking big mansion um and it just has a few little extra symbols and crafts and stuff but one thing that stood out that license plate is original to the vehicle as far as i can tell this jb plate is from the region where windsor castle is so with all that said and this was originally a black vehicle which is the official color of the uh of the royal cars i think what we have here is maybe i got uh one of queen elizabeth's uh wedding cars or one of the early royal tour cars which doesn't really mean that it's worth a whole lot more money but it does add a little bit of extra history to it knowing who might have had it or who potentially had it they only built i think 40 of these cars total and i think there's only around 20 or 21 of them left so it's a cool vehicle that i'm hoping i can fix up myself and do a little bit of work to um this is going to be the biggest problem this is why it was parked this was a running driving vehicle it got parked because uh it the suicide door was opened the wind caught it like wind can and it blew it right all the way back and smacked it right into the door handle and caused this damage pulling one of the hinges down so you can see it's on a bit of an angle so i'm going to have to take the hinge off take the door off completely which is just these flathead screws it shouldn't be that big of a deal it's just brass and hammer this flat to try and get it so it sits properly reattach it and hopefully this door will sit proper again get the sill back together really it doesn't need um as far as i know a whole pile of work right now it was a running driving vehicle when it was parked and other than cleaning the tank out and going through the brakes and stuff it should be a running driving vehicle again once i get that door all fixed up really neat thing last time when i was here i did fill up the tire with air because the front tire was low and i'm happy to see that that tire is still holding the air what's odd about this though is that specifically just the white wall is coming off so i think that somebody bought blackwall tires and they painted the white wall on which was a thing people sometimes did i think that's just paint so not the fanciest way to have your white wall tires that should be actually the rubber of most tires is white and if you grind down you'd get to white it would weaken the sidewall so you don't want to do that really this videos i've seen online where people actually take a black when they grind it down until it's white not advisable i don't think um but in this case you know you can put a portal wall or whatever they'll probably end up needing new tires at some point but that's going to be something for down the road i am going to climb in the back while in here too it's got these really nice wool carpets which are in really good shape actually one of the things that i liked about this car is that the interior doesn't really need much of anything at all the interior is really really decent the upholstery is nice it's in good shape look it has little lights for back there to think that the queen might have sat back here you know poppins oh wait that's dame edna wrong queen um but look it's got these cool little jump seats that you can fold that down and give yourself a whole bunch of extra leg room or if you decide that you want to have a passenger come with you and sit up front i guess you could sit there now there's no um seat belts or safety harnesses there i have a feeling if you stepped on the brakes you might go rolling forward maybe that's why they have the handle here but it is cool it's a proper limousine with the dividing glass and the whole thing so how nifty is this very roomy in the back and a little bit squished up front but a really really neat vehicle that i'm excited to get home and you can see on the bottom here coach work by windower is limited and wendovers was um a coach builder that built very very few of these cars they were not the main coach builder by any means um so it's kind of a specialty bodied car meant for a special little lady on her wedding day likely or close to it swinging out front window just a really neat vehicle so i'm excited to get this one home but uh i'm also here because i'm gonna look at another vehicle um that the guy has and as you guys know from my channel i love old cars so it's probably no surprise i'm looking at another car but we'll see and i don't know if i'll be able to film it but if i get it i'll i'll tell you about it if not um i'm going to head off to the house right away and do an unboxing and show you some of the cool stuff that i picked up because the front windshield swings out on this car i noticed that these will actually lay flat on the front and i was thinking well that's weird i wonder how you would activate that when you're inside and you look inside you actually have to reach through this steering wheel which is probably not going to be great if you have to turn the corner and use the wipers but look it's all manual just with your hand that's pretty low tech but you know i guess you could say it has working wipers it's a fancy 1940s limousine it doesn't even have power wipers but i guess if it does the trick it does the trick well i just got home after what was i what i consider a pretty successful pick now i have not gone through these estate boxes this is what i've done to our dining room table right now i've laid everything out here um melissa is baking mo what are you making muffins she's doing something with muffins is that your i'm baking muffins face it looks gross it's strawberry though that does not look appetizing it's because it's butter and the baking soda is i mean the baking powder is starting to activate so no this looks like curdled grossness it's a while so good while melissa is making delicious muffins which you have to believe they are um i am going to be going through all this now i went into the basement and we dug this out of one of the bedroom closets and then later i got a phone call saying come back we found more in the garage and so i did we found more and i can already tell that it's from like just the right arrow look the beatles on the cover of the post magazine anything that's been sitting since the 1960s in a trunk untouched is probably gonna have some value potentially unless it's actual garbage but you know they're i'm going through it all right now kind of seeing what they kept you know some little comics sadly no box of old spider-man comics but the laugh-in cover all kinds of neat things but amidst all the magazines and all the other things that were you know kind of cool i think the beatles covers are neat and the laughing and that um there were mint in box 1960s tonka trucks now when i say minton box the the gentleman that sold to me said that he had indoor toys and outdoor toys and his mom made him keep the indoor toys in perfect condition he even kept the instruction manual for the tonka truck inside the truck itself it's so cool and in such great shape it's just so perfect i mean not a scratch or dent or nick that's definitely collector condition somebody who collects tonka would love to have something like that but it wasn't just that one toy there's a table full of stuff and look at this you remember thunderbirds they were marionettes still in the original packaging fully jointed body who put in any action position thunderbirds are go and i have not actually seen this one in the package before dated 1965 on the bottom that is a really cool find i'm gonna leave them in the package for now i don't even know if it's ever been out of the package that looks to me like it was really never played with and we've got the ideal motorific trucks and i've seen this truck before assembled and i didn't realize that it was sold as sort of a kit it has the original batteries which luckily look like they haven't corroded anything in there and it kind of turns it into not really a slot car but a motorized truck that could uh i guess do little laps and things it shows it on the back here that um how to put it together and it's a quick change motor toy so i guess you can put different bodies so you buy this kit and then you could buy separate bodies and make it look different so it's a like a multiple toy kit in one original packaging again very nice um has original foam inside and probably dates from around that time the mid 1960s how cool is that this i haven't even taken the elastic off yet so well every time i find an elastic band you know you think that's just how things were held together back in the day i'm going to take this off and then we'll open the box and see what's inside i'm hoping that this whole set is there this would be maybe late 1950s early 60s it's made by marks um and it was likely going to be a tin gas station at 10 service stations so let's open it up and have a look elastics are off let's open the box [Music] yeah okay this um you would put it together you fold these tabs over to build it into the tin garage that it is it's got uh the little gas pumps here i don't know if that's part of this setup no that's that's um matchbox actually but it looks like somebody put it in there to kind of go along with it it's all the tiny little cars so this would be to scale for you know like a matchbox type toy and it's got the little people i guess they weren't too concerned with the scale on this thing if that's their that guy is not fitting inside that car but i guess that was not the important part because you could use your imagination probably a really fun and neat set when it's all put together um but i'm going to leave it likely flat packed oh i don't know maybe i'll assemble it it's hard to say how it will sell look that must have been on the kid's doorknob when he was busy playing with this toy don't come in here okay we'll pack that up and keep looking here's another neat toy in the original packaging now this isn't just a tractor it's an airport luggage service set so it's got the uh airport little tractor there you put your luggage on the carts made in japan if you ever see made in japan that usually means it's probably original because after the war a lot of toys were made in japan and parts of germany to help boost the economy so you'll see that made in western zone germany or made in japan um if it's made in china that likely means it's a reproduction so here we go we've got the friction power toy look there's the steering wheel i was just going to say the steering wheel is missing but no it's not it's right there i think the reason why the steering wheel is off is because it would stick up and probably wouldn't fit in the box even has the little luggage for it and the cardboard insert yeah this is basically like an unused brand new in the box toy in excellent condition dating to the 1950s or early 60s somewhere around there these were also at the bottom of the box the simpsons sears christmas catalogs what's fun about the the series uh christmas catalogs is that this is where you would circle what toys you want to buy what new things you want to pick up and a lot of people a lot of collectors like to have this because it shows how their design oh look there's our volkswagen van i do need to get it says authentic volkswagen bus 2.98 yeah i feel like i need to find that toy now to match my van um but yeah tin robots mystery robot that you know it's funny the mystery robot was only a dollar more than the van or let's see the 6.98 caterpillar that is probably worth like i don't know maybe like 40 bucks in nice shape now where that robot could be worth like a thousand bucks in mint in the box it goes to show that you know the the robot that was cheaper is actually more collectible look gi joe so these are just sort of fun things to go through they're also fun oh look i wonder if my uh i'm like a squirrel here but look i i wonder if that's the same set 5.99 the same uh service garage set like kind of like that anyway it is fun to go through and use these as a resource to kind of see what things sold for what they're advertised with and in some cases you can kind of see what accessories would have gone with the set so if you have it you can go oh look i'm i have the hammer but i'm i'm missing the plane i didn't know it came with it so um really neat thing to have and just kind of fun to go through and there's a whole stack of them too and i think these all date from the 1950s and 60s obviously 66 64. i guess maybe in that like early to mid 60s to late 60s kind of range anyway really neat stuff and i'm certainly going to spend some time going through these and having a good look but enough about that um oh and of course you know when you see some pyrex i believe this is the 1949 primary color pyrex set which only has um the yellow the green and the red oh actually that's fire king no i might be missing one there we go i've separated it out so we've got the red green yellow primary pyrex set we have some fire king including this jadeite fire king bowl all which are fairly collectible and we'll end up putting through auction as we do with pretty much most of the stuff we find um i've learned that i need if i i always ask now i never used to look in the kitchens and now every time i'm in a house i ask to look through the kitchen and look what i found today old pyrex and look there's a gumby and pokey original but he's given i guess uh gumby is like police officer gumby he's got a baton and a gun and handcuffs and i see he's got like a children stop crossing sign oh it looks like that's maybe part of that so this must have been a very specific set and i thought at first well maybe somebody stuck that on there but look that hat's designed to go on him so we've got a 1960s police officer gumby with pokey and he's still bendy he's still rubbery just needs a bit of a cleaning but overall pretty good nice old toy boat that was probably actually meant to go in the water and float all around it's got a working motor on it and now at the fun part the thing i'm looking forward to going through are some of these boxes because i kind of just grabbed some stuff all willy-nilly like thinking hey that i should because they look cool and here we've got a marks train set battery operated train set ho scale in the original packaging with all the instructions in the original box that's nifty um but it's the knick-knack boxes that we're gonna go through here we go another tonka truck it's heavy i feel like we're gonna find it inside here let's dig it out and have a look yup it's in there and if it's like the other one i bet it's gonna be in great shape yeah look at that it's basically perfect condition has insta and has the brochure on the bottom of the box too great great find and oh look we got cards beetles i actually have a collection of beetle car let me just take this out spook zorro and uncle i wonder if those are complete sets or partial sets these 1960s era beetles cards are pretty darn cool if anybody out there is a beatles fan they made a number of series of these the black and white original sets and i have been trying to fill out a complete set so i will have to go to the shop and see if i can find my um it'll be funny if some of these were actually autographed those are facsimiles but that's a good stack of beatles cards look how young they are there just kids the happy looking ringo and we've got uh i'm guessing uncle is man from uncle yeah ilya kiriyakin and of course i loved the corgi man from uncle car that had the little guys that shot out the window on the side not a very big set it doesn't look like it's complete but it's still neat we got zorro and yeah it's your typical disney zorro color set neat thing and i will go through all this stuff and see how complete these are the spook i think is kind of an unusual series because it's more or less horror themed like universal studios and is kind of a good set to have and it looks to me like this might be pretty close to a good start for a partial set especially if they're all different and there's a couple other little things in the bottom there oh look a couple of these got wrinkled it wasn't for me look some men from uncle cards it looks like that got a little bit uh forlorn and left on the bottom and some stickers and maybe a list this looks like the list of cards that might have been missing for the set these must be the little insert stickers that came with the uh monster cards well that's a pretty good score even just right alone on its own there you know um there are always collectors for things like this especially beetles i doubt whether they'll ever go out of fashion their songs are timeless so really really good just that one little box one little kleenex box full of cards might have just made the whole day here but there's more there's more stuff in here look we got a cap gun set nice cap gun set with the holsters and it's the wyatt herb set so it is actually associated with a uh a character yep wide earp it's got the proper guns in it and in good shape it seems too all the nice little rivets and beadwork and gems that would be quite a fancy set for a kid to have i imagine that was circled a few times in the series catalog box looks a little bit newer berks which was um essentially kind of like canada's tiffany i don't think it's jewelry to me this looks like a watch box and it is a watch it's actually one of the first led wrist um berks wouldn't have been the maker of this this would have been a different company that made it but i guarantee if it's got the burke's name it was probably a pretty high-end piece i should go to the store after you know what before this video is over i'm going to run to the store i'm going to polish it a little bit run to the store and grab a battery and see if i can't make that watch work that'd be pretty cool pretty you would have been very high tech to have something like that in the 70s um let's see couple aluminum airplanes that might have been on a stand of some sort at one point and this guy's solid brass boy it's heavy that's got some serious weight to it but super neat and another hubbly cap gun with the tiny little holster a little derringer and what's this the hockey locker kit lucky puck soap you've got after game shampoo muscle rub and maybe a little bit of cologne everything you could need i guess hair cream everything you could need after playing a big game in this one little box that's kind of cute nice little novelty for somebody who likes hockey stuff and well it looks like a dinky toy boat the boat is missing the trailer is there but there is no boat alas but the box is there healy sports boat on the trailer one of my very first videos i had a uh a sports run about like that that we purchased out of a barn my son jason helped me pull up which is a pretty neat thing so that box was pretty cool i hope that i find some other neat things in these other boxes too let's keep digging set that train set aside oh look we've got hockey cards more cards but this time hockey and hockey can really vary in price because of who's on it let's have a look dude the box that they're in is an old model kit box let's see i'm going to take the cards out this is you know how hard it is to actually find stuff like this that's been sitting for 40 50 years or more this is more than 50 years 50 or 60 years ooh well it's too bad i didn't find any of those but there might have been hot wheels around here and it says that they had a lot of cool cars according to the check marks maybe i'll have to go back to that house and do a little bit more hunting but look this elastic band has probably been on there since these cards were new and these cards date to 1969. so i'll be the first one to take this elastic off since then basically in over 50 years and we've got a couple little jell-o cards oh that's the monkeys kellogg's monkey coins there's a few kellogg monkey coins and a sheriff pudding so they would have put these as a promotional in that's pretty neat fountain pen not in the best of shape but still it's a fountain pen okay but enough about that let's have a look at these cards and see what we have here okay let's go through and see what we have here i'm looking basically for any big stars and you're hoping that it's not all going to be commons not that the commons aren't good that they wouldn't fill out a set and surprisingly the condition of these cards is pretty decent checklist they're always marked if you find a checklist that doesn't have any marking on it sometimes they're actually worth a fair bit so always check your checklist [Music] so far no real big names you know you want to this time oh well there's one bobby orr of course when bobby orcar has a big crease in it tony esposito it's a bigger name probably because it would have been the bigger names might have been taken out and looked at by kids more often tim ecclestone [Music] oh there's well pete mahovlish it's kind of like a minor star these are the ones i'm going to have to oh there's frank poblish that's a good one and pit martin's all right hall of famer oh bobby orr that's probably the best one right there and not too out of shape the one corner is a little bit soft right there but you know it's not creased or anything and that's a pretty early card for him but that's good as i flip through if a person was filling out a set a lot of these becoming very handy okay well there's a few star cards for me to check over right there i'll set those off to the side put these away and we'll go through the next batch right here i'm trying to carefully take this elastic off and see if we've got any good names in here so far i'm looking i'm looking i like the color and i bought the andy bathgate there's one i always like the um the the color and the graphics on these old cards they just really have a great look some stars you know so far i've never been a huge big hockey fan but i do generally know what cards to look for some of these actually might be a little let's see they're flipped around in different ways it's like they came right out of the pack they must have been disappointed not another reg flemming you know you get like two in a row open the pack up oh that is we'll check that out oh there's even a few baseball cards in here no real stars in there but you know these are 1969 1970 cars cards nonetheless they'll have some value this little poster and who's the poster bob gibson maybe bob clemente or roberto clemente well there we go at least there's one baseball star sort of thing this little insert poster will have some value we'll keep digging well that was fun to go through enjoy having a look at that stuff but now we've got this little triang minik i think it's a cap bomb that you load it with caps and when you throw it at kapow it blows up or makes like a little smoke bomb uh surprisingly none of the fins are really damaged or broken considering you're chucking this thing at the air that's pretty neat um we've got a nice old pez well he's got some glue or something on him poor batman seen better days but this is an earlier pez you can tell because it has no feet they found that people wanted to stand them up and without the feet they were too wobbly so pez decided to start putting feet on them if you ever see a pez dispenser like this and it does not have the feet made in austria like this um that means it's one of the earlier ones so this probably would have been like a you know 30 40 dollar pez if i can get this glue off of him but it might have done too much damage to make it uh terribly valuable but still pretty neat we have several old hot wheel catalogs so i'm guessing you know of course you guys who watch at home know that i love old redline hot wheels i sold off my collection to pay down part of our house and now i'd like to try and start building it back up again so finding a few little things like this are just nice you know nice little things to have a clifford book clifford gets a job it's about time all he does is look you know what i wouldn't want to be i wouldn't want to be emily elizabeth there on his back and have to clean up after him at the dog park do you imagine the the size of the the droppings that uh clifford would leave behind no thanks curious george goes to the hospital unrelated to clifford gets a job maybe clifford's job was like monkey hit man um let's see a little novelty camera it's pretty cool tiny little guy too probably a japanese made novelty it probably actually took pictures you could probably get a little tiny film for it it's got a little leather case just kind of a neat little thing oh another pyrex bowl or dish i should say and we've got an amt model kit here also from that 1960s sort of age range and let's see if we open it up if inside if it is built or unbuilt or complete or what let's see yeah there it is looks like they started building it and they got as far as the chassis in the engine and then they stopped which is fine because somebody will take it the rest of the way it's got the uh the decals for the back there and the instruction book so that's all good nice original packaging actually everything here has been in pretty good shape we've got king george this is a um this probably would have hung in a store or something maybe in your house you know this is when world war ii is happening it's a victory for king and empire of course the canadian flag didn't exist at this time we actually had the red ensign that was our our flag more or less was red with the union flag in the corner and we've got the beaver down there that's pretty neat maybe i'll have to uh see what's behind that cardboard maybe there's something behind that frame we'll i'll check that out later got a hand carved totem pole it looks like a beaver chewing on its tail you know i've had days like that interesting little pieces might have been like a school project i don't think this was made by um indigenous folks but in the 50s and 60s this would have been a great wood shop project and whoever did it actually did a pretty nice job you know this is very symmetrical so that's kind of a nice little decor piece it's about two feet tall too it's pretty big in this box we've got a remote control helicopter which should wind up and spin around i'll wind it up and we'll see if it goes let's see if i can make it go up [Applause] the little propeller should be spinning but oh hang on well it just hasn't worked in probably a really long time it's trying to go and you have a controller here to raise or lower it i'm gonna get my hand out of the way and that's off i guess that's on so that's your speed control pretty elaborate little toy really and it's still working which is kind of making some sounds but that's just the the gear is winding down it has an off switch there well that's pretty neat i wonder where it's made it'll tell me it's likely going to be japanese oh made in western germany is a german-built toy well that's cool if it still works and in this old biltmore hat box so the hat wasn't there but we've got these old um 60s or possibly even 50s uh plastic halloween mask you've got your typical i get i'm guaranteed that this hat was worn with those cap guns at some point together i should probably just keep it together it's a nice little set and this looks like yeah this is a 1960s batman cap 1966 the from the prince hat comes a little felt caps you wear it on top of your head like a beanie and you put this down and you become batman that's a very early batman collectible that's actually worth about 50 bucks if you can believe it even though it's just like a cheap little thing oh there's another cap gun marshall this is hubbly that h stands for hubley hubley was a better maker of cap guns this one's not working 100 but it is still pretty cool old mask a clown mask we've got a pipe case with a pipe maybe yeah oh look it's a it's a meerschaum pipe isn't that ever neat and it's never been smoked that's in really nice shape actually nice little case with it that's a cool thing and rocket a1 germain tiny germanium radio oh this is a little crystal radio little rocket radio with the headphone and the whole thing crystal radios were really popular in the 60s they're like a radio that doesn't really require any sort of um major power or anything like that to get it going and this is what the ear piece looked like that went in your ear and i guess you'd walk around with that in your pocket it's a weird shape to put in your pocket but it's really really neat i love the fact that it's a rocket it's got that space theme going for it let's see what else is in here another little cowboy hat with a whistle you know because every cowboy needs a whistle and we've got the uh headdress and what is this oh look i think that's part that's part of the batman costume so we actually have the batman costume the whole thing yeah it's the same company well that's pretty neat that the price on that just went up that's probably like a hundred dollar set now that's from like when batman first came out in 19 the tv show of course barrel of monkeys instructions couple toy cars little matchbox mustang and this has the steerable front front wheels on it see that you push the little button back and forth and off it goes and an aston martin db five or six it's not james bond but it's still pretty cool a little costume jewelry necklace i don't i don't know if it's sherman or what it is i don't see if there's any marks on it we'll have a look at that later but that's kind of nice to have in the box another headdress and what on earth is this maybe part of another costume i couldn't tell you but either way there's lots of uh lots of goodies boy that was quite the hall you know even the box it's in even the boxes most of the stuff is in is really neat i would have to say though my favorite pieces so far well the mirror shawn pipe that was a nice surprise the cap gun set's really cool the hockey cards having a bobby horn there that's great and of course all the beetles because i don't know everything's cool i don't know if i have a favorite every single thing here is cool so i guess the next step for me is to get this all inventory and organized and given up for sale so it should be available at the next auction i'll try my best to have the most of the stuff if if not all of it in the mid-may sale that's coming up so check it out it'll be at castner auctions k auctions.ca i hope you enjoyed today's treasure hunt video um i'm gonna get this cleaned up for summertime so i got a lot of work ahead of me wish me luck guys um but most of all thanks for watching we'll see y'all soon and bye for now bye guys [Music]
