welcome to the history Hunter history Hunter hair and E eyes eagle eyes my son what you saw there was the mighty 88 mm guns that the Germans used all over Europe and they had these guns for protecting their investment and today we're going to see one of these places a massive German lift raffer anti-aircraft gun position that protected an Airfield you have to go a little bit up into the forest but join me and see what today is all about wonderful little early early spring day and uh thank you for being here for watching and subscribing commenting if you're a patron team member thank you so very much for being in there with us it is greatly appreciated Eagle is going to lead us up to this area on the top and you're going to see that there are some very interesting features there like barracks and gun positions and they are all there even today see that image there that is what it looked like when the germ built this place can you see that and how does it look today you want to see that that's what it looks like today guys you want to show them exactly where that structure on the right there is on the image it is right there and where is that up there it is there that's the one right there there yeah that is interesting as it can be so that is what it used to look like when they built it you can see there's a huge uh drum laying around some Building Material you see a guy in front of that structure which which used to be right there how cool is that there are some really spectacular features here that we're going to share with you so we just going to dig into it right now just some basic small details here there's a lot of infrastructure to support this place there used to be a couple of officers like 10 15 un officers and about 65 to 70 crew members here and all they did was to man the guns but they also lived in this area here and you can see that is actually a well underneath here there's a water tank under there and this is where they had a pump station to pump the water around and there are some traces still you can see there is a fence going all around the perimeter that was put up later and there are infrastructures and bunkers and munition storages but what is very special here is that some of these structures are in such really good condition and you can walk straight into them and see the living quarters of the German soldiers just imagine guys Hans wihelm and freder walking around her and serving her and living in this Barracks yeah just imagine these soldiers lftff soldiers running around here doing their daily things and today you can even see these structures still here this is what I mentioned you can see the structures are still here it is pretty crazy these are just like they were built and inside here there are different types of them this is a muncha bunka Underground Barrack and you can see the still uh things in the windows all of that has been put in there later but this is the place where the German solders stayed they lived in here they served here and they protected a Airfield which is way way over there but they could also take part in firing out towards the ocean and all of that but just look at that that is still here and that is pretty amazing just wanted to have a little peek inside here of course there's not much to see here today but some of them actually have some writing and drawings on the walls but we cannot access all of them but we will show you some of them and enter some of them and you can see how it was to be a German Luft ruffer flat crew member here it is such an honor and pleasure to have you all coming along here and this place is so Weare it's so rare to see what we're going to show you later also it's so rare to see these structures complet complete standing and just being here today wow eagle eyes has eagle eyes what did you see it's a near defense position yeah you can see here they made a near defense position you can definitely see this kind of strategically placed uh little position here some of the Rocks has come down you can see they came in from here and this is a fighting position it's a near defense position to take out enemies trying to come up the hill from this side trying to enter the flag position there so how cool is it to see that it's still there that's not all many many many many many years ago I found a paner f right there and that was quite a surprise something like this that El I found I found one of them right there just laying there that was pretty crazy see that that is Prett pretty that is one of the barck that are still here just the way it was left when the Germans operated this place that is crazy to see see there it's made in concrete but they put rocks on the outside to make it blend in a little bit more pretty pretty substantial thickness on the roof and it's a proof of the Ingenuity and how clever they were to try and integrate this into the terrain because if you see the rock there and then you see the rock there it's the same and just imagine being a pilot from the Allies coming in trying to get there it will be difficult because they will stretch camouflage canvas uh on top of it as well and that would make it so difficult to spot so when you come in here you can see tiny little window and when you see this is the living quarter of a German Luft raffer FLW remember inside here they would have their bunker oven they would have their beds and there would be glass in the windows here and basically just a place to be a human being not a soldier but a human being and when the demand came you were a soldier running up to the flag positions and serving and doing your duty there continuing up the hillside here you can see this amazing amazing structure still here see that one there and one there and when you just saw that image you can imagine all of this building material just laying around and they're constructing and building and building to make it ready to be able to protect the area and I can tell you that you're going to enjoy some of the features that are further up there I'm going to show you exactly where they had their uh mess hole again imagine vred Reinhard Tomas they came down this little path here and they worked inside here this we think is a radio communication Hut uh why well there are some foundations just around here that tells us that could have been a huge communication pole that was put up there so we think that is the purpose of this structure here most of these as I said are shut so we're not going to kind of go in there but you can see there's a uh this was very often a foundation for a huge communication pole with these huge steel things holding that pole and I've seen an image of this with a huge pole here we think that is the uh uh function of that right here this is where they had the mess hole and you can see it's just a foundation of you know concrete here um maybe it was the mes hole for the soldiers or I think the mes hole for the uh officers is further down but pretty cool and in the ground here there are still artifacts you can find telling the stories of especially uh the soldiers actually eating here did you know that you can become a World War II history on the team member and the artifacts here could be passed on to you in this manner and fashion here by creating Beautiful World War II Damas and this place you can be the future keeper of something very very special by the history and the history hunting that we share together check out the link in the video description you can click that and you can become a patron team member if you want to different kind of perks with for your eyes the only video is travel Vlogs restoration projects all of that good stuff and if you want to know more check out the supporter videos in the beginning of each month but now let's continue our little Adventure this is very rare guys to see complete little kind of Village of these living quarters Still Standing is one of the most untouched locations that the luff I had actually in Europe so it's one of those very few locasion where you can come and see exactly what it looked like and that is pretty pretty special so if I kind of go in here you can see just going to get the camera in here give me a second here see that there's actually wood on the on the walls there the original panels are there so as I said very very rare some of these are just munition stores see this thing here I think this was a munition storage not a crew shelter or barck but they probably had some combination uh structures as well that they may be used for both just look at that the doors are there the window openings the roofs it's all there everywhere you go these Barracks are here you see that that one is actually open so that will be interesting seems like there's a anti-aircraft gun position on the top there we're going to figure out whether that is newer or older type but this is kind of getting up towards the highest points here but there are so many features that it's unbelievable see there that is a anti-aircraft gun position it could also have been a very specialized feature that the Germans had there let me find a little picture for you here to see all right so this is basically what was here the 88 mm Cruise you're going to see the gun placements for those you can see here one of the 88s being transported by a ship into a harbor and then they put it up first in some intermediate positions and then they casted the huge positions but what I also had here was something really special they had one of the raders which is this they use that extensively on these locations this is for the flat crws to find the aircraft up in the sky and then give the coordinates to the cruise but they also had something really crazy like this it's a what is it El it's a listening device yeah and how long how what's the range of it the range is 12 kilm 12 kilm they could use this and direct it towards where they hear sound and with that they could determine which direction they came in from and when they worked in conjunction with this one and this one and some other things like uh rangefinders manual rangefinders and all that these crew members could really determine where to Fire and then of course they also had what do we have up here El that's a search light yeah they had a search light and we're not 100% sure but it could have had a different type of listening device as well but the SE light would give a light up disguise and then all the directions and all of that came by The Radars and the crews were ready and boom they could fire up into the sky to try and take out the Allies coming in trying to bomb the area and the Airfield that they protected that looks interesting eiz what is it this is a Barra for eight guys eight guys lived in that Barrack why don't we go inside and have a look and see what that was all about all right before we go inside here just want to give you a little tip guys we share everything with you and if you ever need something that is spectacular to go out exploring with Ruben X2 flashlight I can tell you you will never be disappointed I'm falling in love with this little thing the format so easy to put in a pocket you have this little click uh thing here to hold on to a belt or whatever and it's just an amazing tool just want wanted to share that with you cuz I'm taking this everywhere I go you can see you come in here uh it's a bit wet so let's crank up this flashlight and see does it really do a good job boom it is so powerful so small you can see here on the wall this is insulation see all of that this is like a very special compound of wood mixed with I don't know concrete or something I just spotted little piece of metal there really don't know exactly what that is you can see here this is the inside of one of these living quarters I can see the insulation was necessary to keep it warm in here but can you imagine being Hans or vred or wihelm Tomas or Reinhardt living in here you had your little bed there will be a little closet where you can have your clothes your uniforms and all of that and that's basically it I cannot imagine how that would have been but it's so cool that we could go to these places and see them experience them and share them with you looks like some kind of ventilation up there so concrete roof pretty heavy duty built but can you imagine being here I must have been totally crazy wow when the Germans were here there were not that many trees so you can actually see all over this area and it's impressive to see that they selected this hill here this hill specifically for this it's perfect it is perfect for the purpose here to protect the area and the Airfield I have to say what a 100% match of the terrain and the purpose of having a flack position let me show you something here uh see that here what do you think that is well let me take you down and you can see something really cool see that that is another one of the Barrack here many many many years ago I actually found something really really interesting just about here I found a ton of backlight batteries the huge radio batteries that I used in the telephone and the radios that was such an exciting little moment nevertheless even Hermon guring took part in some of the uh planning for this region and there was I I've seen some reports about how my ging actually uh wanting to visit this place not 100% sure if if that ever took place but there were a lot of very very high ranking officers in this area due to the massive Airfield and also there were rumors about Hitler himself being uh to accompany uh going for a visit here but I that is basically just some things that I read in a report a German report so I probably never took place but is exciting to think about that maybe some of these guys were actually here in accy who knows who knows but this is another one that you can see how they did this it's very heavy duty concrete and the rocks on top on the outside and you can see this piece of uh roof coming out here this thing is flooded like heck today I'm going to get you in here no matter what so you can see this yes here we are wow let's bring out that flashlight again so you can see see a little bit more boom there you go see this vuex 2 is so tiny so powerful I just love it see here this a bunka oven that they heated the barid they put coal in there huge coal pieces to be found everywhere around here they had these openings tiny small openings it's crooked it's not built perfect perfectly straight or anything as I said again oh look at that that is pretty cool let me show you remember I told you about you could find the pieces of the uh food rations and all of that that is one of these boxes this is the German food ration with fles inside they would have them in backpacks but they also given them here as you know rations that is pretty to say this box was once opened by a German soldier maybe Henrich Henrich or willhelm or whoever amazing so some bricks laying around there's a piece of a sole of a boot there it is pretty amazing and that's a piece of the top of the bunker oven just laying there but again guys this is really really rare to be able to come into these positions or locations and go inside the Still Standing Barrack of the German Luft ruffer flro this here is actually a different one and I was thinking about taking you guys inside to have a look so let's go down these stairs and introduce Barrack maybe yeah I think it's a Barrack closed window ventilation or hole that could be for the ash or that could also be ventilation probably ventilation here we have a little it's big and we have one two three Windows a shut walls yellow red and white think space to 16 people inside here the fullest the oven could be in here cuz there's a whole here that could very much be oven then oh overall so big at all it's big enough for people to sleep in this here is concrete they man of this is of concrete here's a door a door frame and what is oh I can't even get it in so small that's the door to the entrance now let's go again yes their job was to protect the German Luft ruffer Airfield boy oh boy did we enjoy this location and if you did maybe you would help us out to reach more locations like this and then we have this super thanks feature here basically you opportunity to help us out to fill up the gas tank in the camp event go out and find and share even greater stories with you this is part one of two just a little miniseries for you and uh they even had one of these there there is this is a build that I'm going to do they had a pan pan up Canon as well for ground attack but mainly in next episode we are going to see the mighty positions where the 88 mm guns were and there are many of them and also 20 mm gun positions and some rather special features for the other buildings and structures there as well this is hat giong middle meaning of to clean your skin in uh case of um gas uh attack this is found there just laying next to nothing in inside one of the uh the the structures so the artifacts are out there and as you saw if you want to become a Paton team member we create these beautiful shadow boxes and all of the artifacts that we find we actually give them away to our Patron team members so the link to become a patron team member you can find that here where it says more just click that under there you'll find our Patron team member Link and Link to our PayPal donation thing if you want to maybe be the future keeper of something really special as I said L raffer is the key word for the activity up there and in part two I think you're going to really enjoy the rest that we going to share with you but until then you just have to be patient I will put a link in the description where it says more for part two when it comes out it will be very soon other than that thank you for being here thank you for watching subscribing commenting and before you know it we will be back with more Luft wff stories bye-bye and be safe out there
