Finding Nuggets with the Gear Pan.

Bank bedrock deposit water is still in flood stages we're still way up with these high bank deposits you haven't seen my last couple videos we've done really really well here you got my key with us Aram and Pete of course bailed on us again so it's just the two of us yeah we're gonna get good gold without Pete today we have all sorts of special things in store for the video today so stick with it enjoy [Music] so today I have the gear pan with me yes you may have seen ads all over the internet for this new piece of equipment called the gear pan it's just a very very small little water pump attached to it you know an engine and oh there's a classifier in there there's a pan that agitates it's a great little piece of backpack equipment that helps automate gold panning today I'm gonna show you how it works all components of it and hope it helps me get some gold let's open so here's a bit better shot of the gear pan you can see the pump the motor there's a gear box in there for agitating the pan there's the classifier on top and the pan in below now you can see it dirty I have tested it once or twice already just to make sure it's gonna do what I expected and sure enough it works really well from what I've seen so far and today I'm gonna put it through a good test here we got some materials close by to dig that I think has pretty good gold in them and we're up high and dry enough that it will discharge into the gravel and just soak in won't get back to the river I did have to use two lengths of suction hose to get this far up so I had to go buy myself another length of hose but should all work nicely nice piece of equipment see what we can do with it there we go it's all framed up and ready to go and this tiny amount of water that it actually uses just soaking into the ground right here we see it going down a little ways but after a couple feet it's just gone that's perfect let's throw some material in and see what she does [Music] [Music] easy to know English ah the washing the material [Music] dump some bigger stuff off the back part about it yeah so let's see after a tough equivalent of a couple of hands full what's in that hand there's the material left in the pan now you can pan straight in this but I think I'd rather use my Garrett supersleuths because I'm used to that and see what shows up after probably two or three pounds worth of material that went through there okay the good news is when I put the material in the pan I saw some flakes go by so there is definitely something here let's see how much now typically I wouldn't clean out a machine like that after three pounds worth that would go for half hour or something like that before NATO but I want to see if I'm on the gold first let's see what's in here oh yeah there's some gold it works now let's see if we get lots so ahead reposition myself in a new spot here the gold underneath those first few rocks no testing this wasn't there so I've moved over to another spot attested last time we were here it had been our goal to see how well this thing works I have to actually put gold in it so we gotta find ground with gold on [Music] well there we go that's looking better first picker of the day first picker of the day a bunch of find their stuff even medium flakes there and that's just in a new little hole over there that was only maybe three or four pounds worth material just testing out this new spot looks like it might be good let's go with it for a while a lot easier than panning using this for sure a lot quicker [Music] so I've got the point where I can't shovel anymore so I got the wire brush in there and gonna brush down all the bedrock and scoop it up nicely I'm gonna get a bucket full in by then her prospecting bucket okay I'm still up a bucket before I start up the Machine again and I'll just run that whole bucket through so I haven't really been using my classifier today because well the machine doesn't bust fine for me but I should note to all my that little run had two more Pickers in it and one of them I don't know if I'd call that one a picker that one's pretty small smaller picker really big flake that's definitely a picker and then lots and lots of fine gold all around it's all out of that hole right there so I've been digging underneath this Boulder here and in between those two there and look like some pretty good material I even saw some flakes go through it's all ready to shut down and let's see what's got in it there we go so I just called Mikey over to watch this pen because as I was dumping the train from the gear pan into my regular gold pan I saw three big flakes go by and if I saw three who knows how many more there are while you're doubting here was it one standing here big flake over there click over here I was digging underneath the big rock there and I found a nice pocket of material right underneath that I saw that wet foot again they bring a good snake yeah I saw a couple flakes go like when I was digging I saw them in the dirt it's nothing big just a smaller place so after the dumping it out I saw two really big ones and then one sort of medium-sized want to go through oh look at that I already see gold coming up here and the edges both edges have gold right now this could be a good one that's a while on with the gear down so there's a lot bigger go get my package up here hole why you play today that's quite a bit of cons here while I got along we did in the whole park I was probably a good 20 minute run yeah there that's probably a typical run without machine that or something like that right yeah yeah I don't know if I'd want to go much more than that you got a lot of cars in there so yeah get him the stuff that was way too much black skin professor lose those flakes they're big and they're big and flat yeah if you got here one thing another night one they're like oh she's got thickness okay has a little nuggie nice thick you're right there you have been that's a bigger plate though not as much as I thought it would see their eyes expect to see a lot more than that there you are this to suck it up at the end yes yes sure let's get that bigger a little nugget on camera oh that's a good ad know the piece of gold sitting in the on the bedrock sit in the dirt on the bedrock mm-hmm this is where Mikey's been working you gotta get underneath some of these big rocks now though because he wants to get the good stuff that's underneath the big boulders Oh No could you put that in there we were just joking about that what if I pull a nugget from your hole and I said pardon burnin holy as thick as the one I got thanks buddy holy listen I know that's a half a gram you think so yeah Oh easy that's over the one I got a trouble which 0.44 and small or not yep that's 0.63 0.63 yeah one other decimal place on that yeah point six no just at six-30 even what else you got in there holy mackerel who cares what else I got yeah that okay so Mike told me that I could go and try the place he was doing because he was doing so well and I joked I didn't want to because what happens if I pull out a nugget and of course Mike said you give it to me and well wow this guy I pulled out a nugget and I put it Mike's pan oh dude I should have grabbed the smaller nugget I got this morning I'm giving you that instead I wouldn't recognize that whoa whoa Pete you're missing Oh buddy this one's repeat this one it's not far it's not for Pete but this will repeat about you Pete but they could about you Pete for bailing on us we've also picked out a nugget today Pete oh boy so I've been working the gear pan here for a few hours now and getting some pretty nice gold I thought I'd just bring up the camera and show you the components and what it looks like and all this beautiful construction it is using a Honda short little four-stroke engine these are a little weed whacker Honda engines they're designed to run in any direction so it can be run sideways like this goes into a gearbox here that is taking some power off to go shake the pan and it's also running the water pump a little one-inch pump it's the underneath this is the arm that comes out of the gearbox to shake the pan back and forth there's another gearbox down here that transfers the motion into I probably a chain or something in there actually a belt or chain transfers the motion into a eccentric circular motion here that moves the whole pan the classifier on top has a little adjustment that you can change the angle so it changes how fast the the rocks fall off and wash the pan in here just clips in a little clip here it clips in place holds it in nice and firm but it comes out really simply to go and empty it out or a pan you can pay on straight in that pan if you want to though I much prefer my big 15-inch Garrett so on a nice aluminum frame that is designed to be a pack board so you can just throw it on your back and hike it in and it doesn't weigh very much at all it's nice and light the trail into this claim is pretty nasty steep it's coming down from way up there and was no problem at all carry it down and in beautifully constructed and guy knows what he's doing that's making these obviously things like extra washers for like the caps and whatnot because I don't know if you've ever used a pump you always lose in the washer out of that at the top of that cap as you you know take it off to prime it there's an extra washer here for the hose so in case you lose that washer there's another one ready to go a valve to adjust the water the throttle on the engine to address the overall speed works very well now I'm not going to do an evaluation of it this trip I'm not actually collecting my tailings to see what it's losing and timing myself how fast I can process material putting in set amounts through to see the capture rate so I'm not doing any of that kind of stuff today I just wanted a good day using the machine so that I could you know get a good feel for it I will do more videos on it where I do all that evaluation today I'm just using it seeing how much gold I can pull out of these gravels today [Music] and yet a nice another nice-looking pan no lack of gold around here that's for sure and again another nice band so convenient be able to run just a little bit of material toss it in a pan and pan it out so simple will everyone we had another fun day at the Fraser River this was Dan and my Mikey Mikey Mikey flavor that is too yeah too late too long today whatever yeah oh it's great day at the Fraser River we have fun we found lots of gold we'll make sure we put lots of pictures of it right here we played around with the gear pan here oh my back we played around with a gear pan and got to know a little bit more
